Anger can erupt like lava if we let it bubble inside us. But voices are not for yelling and hands are not for hitting just because we feel like a volcano inside! Everyone Feels Angry Sometimes teaches mindfulness for kids and how to prevent a little spot of anger or a little spot of frustration from escalating into a full-blown tantrum. It's not healthy for a child's inner angry ninja to reach the breaking point where they'll resort to kicking, screaming, and breaking things. That's why in Everyone Feels Angry Sometimes , the 4 levels of anger teaches emotional self regulation for kids so that they can assess how they're feeling and take action to avoid reaching their breaking point. He understood very quickly the main concepts, much to our surprise. He said I don’t have much lava in me. I don’t like lava.

Important concepts for him and a great way to help us have that conversation bridge.

5yo. Sensory processing difficulties. Developmental delays, speech delays , among some other difficulties. Great book. Getting copies of the others.

Good (not great) children's book about managing one's own anger. Focuses on how anger is normal, but something you want to get rid of. Anger as a signal or cue leading to other learned verbal or behavioral skills is not developed very much.

Read this to my toddler since she’s at the age where she is struggling to control her emotions. I think this book very clearly and effectively explained what anger is, how it makes us feel, and how we can control it. It’s a book I think would benefit most grown-ups, too…

I’ve used this book in many therapy sessions with kids. The steps for managing anger are easy for kids to remember and are engaging enough to practice repeatedly.

This story explains how to recognize and deal with the feeling of anger and that it is okay to be angry sometimes. It explains this strong emotion in a kid friendly way that would help young readers understand this emotion more. It describes lots of thing that may make us feel angry. It also compares anger to a lava and our bodies are the volcano, and when the anger get to be too much that the volcano erupts. It goes on to describe that there are different levels to anger, low, medium, high, and exploding. This story then goes into more detail of what each level may look like. Then it describes 4 steps to manage the feeling of anger. This a children's fiction book, and the text stays the same throughout. The author is talking directly to the reader. What I like about this book is that it explains the emotion of anger in a way that young kids can understand and start to learn ways to deal with such a strong emotion. It's a great way to start to integrate SEL skills into your curriculum in younger grades K-2. I would use this in my classroom as a read aloud to help teach social emotional skills and also as just as a book to keep in my classroom library.

“Anger is a big feeling”
“it’s okay to feel angry”
“Everyone feels angry sometimes”

Relates anger to a volcano 🌋 easy to understand, visual explanation of a big emotion and how it affects us, and the people around us. Gives realistic and helpful steps for calming down our volcanos in the moment.

Not necessarily a great bedtime story; my daughter thought it was boring. However I think it would be great in the moment; when you see your child feeling angry or upset. Or for reminding them of how they can calm down their volcano. More so a tool for parents than a bedtime story.
