Most people are copper deficient, but do not know it, and doctors don't either.
Copper is needed by every cell, every tissue, every organ in the human body. Most of the healing functions of what copper does can be directly traced to copper being essential to the functioning of copper-containing enzymes. Copper helping to build collagen alone makes copper a widely important function for nearly all body tissues; especially bone and muscles. Copper increases ATP for energy, which is essential for growth, recovery, healing, and feeling great. Copper is essential for nerve functioning, and especially brain functioning. We need copper for hormones and neurotransmitters. We need copper for better circulation, and the heart, lungs, liver, and every major organ, including the pancreas to prevent diabetes. We need copper for the immune system, and germ killing. Copper is non-toxic and safe at levels studied up to 20 mg/day, and likely safe at levels above that.
Copper deficiency causes a widely diverse array of problems, nearly all of which are the flip side of the copper-containing enzymes not functioning well. Athletes are especially prone to copper deficiency. A wide array of both nutrients and toxins block copper.
Iron is used in many packaged foods to "fortify" them, and iron blocks copper.
Fluoride blocks copper and most people have far more fluoride than copper in their bodies, 2600 mg fluoride compared to 72 mg copper, and it should be the other way around.
The government has conducted nearly fraudulent studies, and no further real studies, to establish both their RDA and UL for copper, and should be completely ignored until they conduct actual science and testing that can be repeated by others.
Nearly everything people die from is, at least in part, from copper deficiency.
Copper can cure the symptoms that lead people to take 49 out of the top 50 drugs, except the mineral potassium.
Copper Toxicity is a fraudulent and mistaken concept. Copper is toxic at 20,000 mg, not at 2 mg. There are no viable scientific mechanisms of action for a low level of copper toxicity.
Unless you eat a lot of liver, you need a copper supplement.
The best copper supplement is copper sulfate, and the price is so low, it's nearly free.
While many supplements block copper, the synergy is stronger and more important. Know the levels of the nutrients you need, and don't just take a multi-mineral that has all the minerals and vitamins way out of balance.
Taking very high levels of copper, 30-100 mg, can lead to a few mild nutritional deficiencies of Vitamin C, Zinc, Niacin, and perhaps molybdenum.
When taking copper, start slow, and scale-up, and do not neglect the other nutrients.
I think the very long list of positive things copper does for us, is also another refutation of copper toxicity.
I think the number of diseases, most of them major, associated with copper deficiency, is another strong refutation of copper toxicity.
It is not beyond the realm of possibility the declining culture and changes in societal values are a reflection of the worsening copper deficiency among the population.
After you read my book, you will be an expert on how copper heals.
As a copper-deficient population begins taking copper to get healthier than ever, this should start the copper revolution.
I confess I usually enjoy reading personal accounts and their experiences. I find you can gain insights and this is one of them. This was highly informative with credible links but it was also highly repetitive and had just as many blog links to personal sources. It’s written in a note taking style which makes the information easy to read quickly. There is a religious undertone and a couple of times where biblical logic is presented as the cornerstone for reasoning. Add a sprinkle of painful attempt at compassionate mocking towards those that harassed him on the topic. For those reasons I would rate this a 3 or 3.5 - but because of the solid links to forgotten information about copper, that back up his conclusions (information that can appeal to anyone looking into the subject), I am rating this as a 4.
This is also not a complete overview of copper. This is the author’s observation and experience with experimenting with higher levels of copper intake. Which means there are several gaps in nutritional knowledge, a lot of the experimentation is based on trusting/not trusting your gut… While I am convinced of the author’s belief that we are severely copper deficient, and have begun experiencing the benefits of 4mg of copper a day, I think due to the note taking format some of the chapters were too brief or felt unfinished. When it comes to nutritional belief systems, he mentions we have reverence for ideas that are unfounded or doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. For me that would be vitamin D. I am generally a believer that synthetic supplement variations can be harmful or doesn’t benefit us as well as the natural substance-and I was surprised to learn this is also true for synthetic vitamin D. Why didn’t I apply that same logic across the board? I definitely had to read up on this one and looked for alternate ways to support this in my body.
There are brief explanation about vitamins that block copper at high levels sprinkled through the chapters but no real guidance on how to approach this in a more balanced way. The author also made it clear that supplementation is the most straightforward answer to the problem (true especially if you are severely deficient) and doesn’t provide enough whole food nutritional guidance, even though he mentions the absorption rate is better. I will be looking for a more balanced approach. For now I am putting Cod back on the menu planning board.
On the whole reading this book (and The Hidden Cause of Acne) provided answers I was looking for. A couple of years ago I moved from one area to another and experienced rapid aging and oxidation. Most of the people around me were used to this aged look and hormonal disregulation and considered it normal to experience. It isn’t normal. At the time I tested as iron deficient and calcium deficient, which was weird because I wasn’t deficient at the last location and I was already supplementing. Increasing my supplements as recommended did not improve anything. After 2 months I instinctively discontinued because I knew there was a different factor involved. Thanks to this book I realized increasing Copper is a key factor in improving my health.

As a person who is horribly copper deficient, and suffering from severe neurological issues from it (I can no longer walk unassisted)….this is a fantastic read to glean more information on copper and it’s benefits. Why it’s needed so much by our bodies. Until my current health issues, I didn’t even know copper was an important mineral in the body! Thank you Jason for this educating book with great sources. You’re doing a great thing for peoples health!
After reading The Magnesium Miracle, this book looks like it was written by a third grader. The author’s strong subjects are clearly not biology or chemistry. I think they genuinely want to help people, unfortunately they missed a great opportunity to explain copper’s biochemistry like how magnesium was covered in The Magnesium Miracle.
Very glad I read this book. Now to read again and take proper notes! On my way to healing. It’s been 3 weeks since I started supplementing with copper & zinc and the others mentioned and I feel wonderful.
Very informative! Great read. I'm recommending this book to everyone! I had already been taking several minerals he recommended but wasn't aware of the necessity of copper.
Must buy Jason explains and teaches magnificen5ly why everyone needs copper it is literally the spark of life in supporting our mitochondria and important life processes! Thank you Jason!
What a surprise that we need copper. Love that I found this book because my lab work included copper. Otherwise, I’m not sure I would have researched it.
