Revenge is a dish served in pairs… so when Chase and I use each other to get back at our cheating exes, will we find love instead?

When I find my boyfriend cheating on me with another guy’s girlfriend, the last thing I want is to get him back. Instead, I reach out to the boyfriend of the girl that he was cheating with. Chase is a star football player, and I can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that someone would be dumb enough to cheat on him. Together, we hatch a plan: We’ll pretend to date so that our exes can see what they’ve been missing.

As the two of us get closer and thoughts of my ex start to drift away, things begin to heat up, and we both get scared. Feelings were not part of the bargain, but it looks like it’s not going to matter. Are the wounds from our exes too fresh for us to overcome? Will we be able to leave the lie that we have been living in, or will admitting our true feelings so that it was the truth all along?

Punt is a great addition to the Storm Valley Raptors series. You don’t have to read the first book to enjoy it but, as the series revolves around the Raptors players finding love, there are references to shared characters and experiences.
The characters are the best part of the series, in my opinion. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about them. The guys are a tight group and they look out for each other, even off the field. The ladies are supportive but aren’t door mats, and have their own lives. Strong characters can still be “weak” when it involves their hearts, and these ladies have their hunky footballers down on their knees.
This steamy, sweet road to happily ever after is definitely worth the trip. I’m really enjoying this series and am looking forward to peeking into more Raptors’ love lives.

My Rate: ⭐⭐ 2/5

I didn’t enjoy the writing. It was stiff and robotic and the character development was lacking and I honestly did not understand ANY of the character’s choices.

Equality rate: ⭐⭐ 2/5

It just seems counterproductive to make a story where the main characters are going out of their way to make their cheating exes get back with them.

The whole point of my Equality rate was to talk about healthy relationship/personality role models in books. This premise is exactly the opposite of what I would want any of my friends to do.

Adjectives and general thoughts: Had a good premise, but the execution wasn’t good enough.

Sacked by Lizzi Stone is the second book of the Chesapeake Commanders series. We meet Chase & Ashley who get played by their significant other. They come together to devise a plan to make their partners jealous. They decide to fake date to make the exes jealous but along the way they fall for each other. They no longer think about the past but about what they can have as a future. I loved how the author developed their characters from friends to lovers. once they were out of the fog of their previous relationships. I really liked Chase, how he is with Ashley, he was really understanding and slow with her. They are both simple people with mutual respect for each other. I really liked the multiple point of view writing and the banter between Chase Ashley and chase and his teammates. I love the progression of the series through the team members and that Becca and Hawk were still part of this story. The world built by the author is an interesting one with lots of fantastic supporting characters, many of whom you hope will return with their own stories
This quick story is kind of a friends to lovers and kind of an insta-love but I did not feel it was a true rom-com. But having said that, it was a fun, easy read that I recommend if you are in need of a feel-good romance. Their friendship and connection was so strong right from the start. If you enjoy sports romance, friends to lovers, romances, you should absolutely read this book
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Romance Me With Books and Lizzi Stone for this gifted e ARC

🏈 Overall, Sacked is a cute scorned-lovers to lovers story with a Hallmark vibe and a little bit of 🌶 added. I love the progression of the series through the team members and that Becca and Hawk were still part of this story. I’m excited to read Bam’s story in the next book, Tackled! And it looks like Ollie’s story is going to follow! I do like how the books are named with football terms; however, I really feel like the first and second book’s names should be switched - mainly because Hawk is the quarterback and Sacked fits that position better.
🏈 It did seem like Chase and Ashley’s feelings changed quickly, but considering what their significant others did to them, it fit the storyline. And sometimes true love finds you when you least expect it!
🏈 The banter between the characters was better in this book, but it still felt a bit corny to me. However, the NFL team names are ridiculous. And since it is a story about an actual professional sports league, I feel like it should represent how it is run, like there are never games on Friday nights. Maybe it’s just my love of the game and the fact that our family watches all of the games during the season 🤷‍♀️
🏈 I can’t remember if Harvey Danbury, the reporter, had a big role in Fumbled, but I do like him in this book. I mean, I don’t like him as a person, but I like his character. It gives a good feel of life of a famous person and how the paparazzi follow them around and embellish stories.

🏈Thank you to Romance Me With Books and Lizzi Stone for this gifted copy in exchange for my honest review.

Why should you read this book?🤔
👇🏻
👻My Recommendation 👉🏻 “Awesome” 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

👍🏻 I really loved the book! The best feature about sports romance is the locker room banter! This pranks pulled had me rolling with laughter! 🤣

👍🏻 This was my second book by the author Lizzi and with an amazing plot, seamlessly blended characters, it has a very unique and interesting storyline that keeps you swooning! ❤🖤

👍🏻 The story was really sweet, left heartbroken by their respective exes but still loving them, they find solace with each other. Finding more things in common with each other, their pretend relationship tumbles into feeling warm and fussy for each other.

Will we be able to leave the lie that we have been living in, or will admitting our true feelings so that it was the truth all along?

Now to know that you will have to read this book!😛

👍🏻My recommendation: If you looking for a rom com, this book will definitely crack you up!😂

Sacked is the second book of the Chesapeake Commanders series. There were pros and cons for me with this one. The story wasn’t bad, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first. Chase and Ashley both get played by their significant others, but still feel a connection. They devise a plan to make their partners jealous. It doesn’t exactly go as planned, but at that point it’s too late anyway. Feelings and hearts are involved. I loved their development from friends to more once they were out of the fog of their previous relationships. There was some drama that I wasn’t a fan of (don’t want to spoil anything). However, I loved that we still got to see characters from Fumbled. The boys pranks are fun, I loved Becca and even Harvey Danbury was his typical selfish self which is somehow endearing. It’s a good book but I’m more excited for Bam’s book next.

Sacked by Lizzi Stone is one interesting story. I appreciate the story line, and I thought it was a fun book to read. This story was lighthearted, cute, and just a good time. I also just love a good football book! The football in this book was on point, so fantastic job, Lizzi!

Chase and Ashley are a sweet couple. I liked how their friendship developed into something more over time, but they were careful to make sure their friendship wasn’t ruined by actually becoming more. I also really liked how involved their jobs are in this book. It makes them who they are. These two were brought together by their no-good cheating exes. Who likes a cheating mothertrucker?! Apparently both Chase and Ashley are on the fence about how to repay their cheating exes, but found something in eachother instead. Read Sacked by Lizzi Stone to find out what happens between Chase and Ashley!

A nice little read that has some popular tropes like fake relationship and making the exes jealous.

This is a nice short read that can break up some of the serious reads, the characters are likeable and the storyline is good.

I do think it needed to be longer for us to really connect with the characters and root for our MC's. It just didn't quite give me enough to get hooked but it was enjoyable as Book 2 in this series.

I love the fake relationship trope but I do feel this needed exploring more in this book. But I look forward to seeing more from this author.

Overall, Sacked was a cute read. It's a scorned lovers to lovers type of book. I think the first book Fumbled was better, but the fact that Hawk and Becca were still a part of this story made me happy. This story is about Ashley and Chase. Both of them end up getting screwed over by the people they are with. So together, they decide to fake date so that their ex's can see what they are missing out on. There are some bumps along the way, but at this point they are invested. I definitely am excited to read Tackled, which will be Bams story.

I like sports stories

For some reason I like to read about American sports. Football and hockey.
The guys are not all tough in their private lives, but often emotional and empathetic. I like that they have to give back to the community too.
This is a nice series with some great club names - squirrels for instance.

cute

This is not a very steamy book but it’s a cute slow burn. The story is short but sweet when you realize the old relationship is not worth repeating but to move on.

I honestly loved it so much. Was a great addition to the series.

Had great humor and input to personal experiences and life. Was relatable.

The only thing I don’t like is how both Ashley and Chase were trying to get back with their exes through the book but I mean they had to have a reason for the fake dating. Personal preference since I’m heavily against cheating though.

I loved the way it ended.
It was honestly a quick read (do look at the dates lol). Had good plot and was an interesting yet easy read.

Had some words that I didn’t know so it’s helped add to my personal dictionary.
The spelling and variation of words messed me up a little bit but that’s just since I’m American and it’s Australian referencing. Was easy to get past though.

A great afternoon read

If you're looking for a relaxing afternoon romance then I recommend giving Chase & Ashley's story a read. She never thought getting home early from a work trip would shatter her world but it did. She found her boyfriend in bed with Chase's girlfriend. Sharing in their mutual pain they decide to pretend date each other to show their ex's what they lost. They thought it would be easy but they're about to learn life doesn't always go that way. Will they acknowledge the feelings growing between them or will hearts be shattered?.

I loved this story! When Ashley comes home to find her boyfriend cheating, it is life changing. Because he is also cheating with his best friend’s girlfriend. So she decides to inform Chase of what is going on. Together they decide to fake date to get back at the two-timers and make them realize what they lost. But their feelings develop into something real.
Loved these two together! They form this great connection and the chemistry between them was super hot!

Both Chase and Ashley get cheated on and make a plan to make their exes jealous by pretending to date each other. Except neither really wants their ex back and are attracted to each other. They both find out they have way more in common than they realized. This was a cute quick read and I really enjoyed all the teammates.

Fun love story

This was such a fun story. Chase and Ashley played pretend never seeing it become real. Their ex's cheated on them and brought them together. Some ups and downs later and they finally figure out what everyone else knows
