I liked this book - I liked how it reinforced the modern understanding of pain and its context within society, the individual and also dived into the history of pain and how it has come to be what it is understood as today. I didn’t like the continuous history - I feel a chapter and a bit would have been more suited and it got a bit monotonous at times but I still enjoyed learning about the concepts !!
For the most part I thought this book was good and accessible. However, the author's views on disability and how people are able to "choose" to live with disability or not really didn't sit right with me. It came across as blaming people for their illness, especially in terms of the content about drug use and self-medication.
