I literally could not put this book down! Bella is happy with her life and after just having reconnected with her childhood best friend, Tommy, she feels her love life is looking up! However, everything comes crashing down when an upsetting phone call from her father changes everything. She goes rushing home and finds her father deeply mired in business problems that were fabricated by one of his business partners, Fitz, who just happens to be a childhood classmate of Bella! He says everything will go away if Bella marries him! Bella agrees but no way she'll follow through! She's just buying time until she finds a way to save her father. You won't believe the lengths Fitz goes to control Bella and also, to break the law! I loved that Bella was so strong and figured out herself, how to deal with Fitz. She was no wilting violet! Tommy helped her in some ways, but she was on her own a lot and did a great job! She was a great character! Tommy was great too! Loved this story!

Can Bella Worthington stay one step ahead of Edwin Fitzgerald Mattson III (Fitz)? Little spoiled brat has grown up into a much larger spoiled brat, always getting what he wants, and he wants Bella at any cost. Fitz controlled people by intimation and fear and if that didn’t work blackmail and lying. Bella on the other hand never like Fitz and saw him for what he was. But could he be that powerful to send her father to prison. Childhood friend Tommy Colt couldn’t believe Bella was going to marry Fitz. Something had to be wrong with that picture. Writer B.J.Daniels fills each page with suspense, keeping you guessing if Bella can break the evil grasp of Fitz heading to the wedding alter and clear her father’s name work.

Tommy Colt, Bella's childhood best friend who had recently connected with Bella is stunned when abruptly announces she’s engaged.
Knowing her better than anyone, Tommy uses the resources at Colt Brothers Investigations’ where he is the newest partner to uncover the truth.
I found Bella to be a likable female character who used her limited skills to try and outsmart Fitz, although he had tried every trick in the book to keep Bella under control, she did everything she could to get the evidence she needed to get out of the situation she was in.
I liked that the author did not make her the damsel in distress that needed saving by the hero of the story. Yes, Tommy and his brothers did their part, but Bella was the one on the front line risking the wrath Fitz held above her head.
Tommy was someone who I thought as a good match to Bella's character, he was quick on his feet and used his connections ( having only just started at Colt Investigations) to help Bella and I liked that he wasn't trying to be the 'Man' and worked with Bella as a team.
The story is intriguing, the suspense of the characters trying to gather the necessary information needed to secure Bella's freedom plus the romance that is budding between Tommy and Bella made it a delightful escape from reality for the weekend.
I also liked how the story started... at a scene where its nearly at the end of the story, then we get to start at the beginning to see how Bella got to that point, The intense opening scene paves the reader's imagination to wonder at what Bella will have to do next to get to that point.
I read this book in two sittings over a weekend and I would love to find the other stories in the series to read also.

xI loved this book.
The plot was smooth. The characters believable. I loved how the book was written in a multiple POV format. I love seeing into the main characters thought. Any additional characters' POV is an added bonus!
Tommy and Bella grew up together. Their two family's ranches are right next to each other. Tommy and the other three Colt brothers all became rodeo cowboys. Until James (Murder Gone Cold) quit and re-started their father's investigative business. Bella left town for college and then started up her own business. Bella and Tommy met back up in Colorado and this book takes place a few weeks after.
Bella is called home by her father. By the sound of his voice Bella knows something is wrong. She rushes home only to find out the worst news! No he isn't dying but Bella may kill him (just kidding!) No, he is in debt and being blackmailed. To save her father, Bella must marry one of his partners. The only son of his partner and who has also become a partner.
Can Bella and Tommy thwart the wedding? Can they find out if her father is being set-up? Can they find the evidence of said set-up? How will the pair stop the wedding? These questions and others arise during the thrilling mystery?
While this is the second in the series, you don't have to read the prior one to enjoy this couple's road to a HEA.
There are some kissing and a slightly sexy scene. No graphic details are given in the scene.

The 2nd book in the series is full of mystery and suspense. Bella and Tommy have been best friends and neighbors since they were young
Recently they shared a weekend of fun, movies, and friendship that made them realize they could be more than friends.
Tommy leaves the rodeo to enter the family PI business. His first case is a quick bail skip but then his bestie Bella hires him to help her after she is being forced to marry a man who's blackmailing her father.
Can Tommy and Bella get the information they need to save her father from imprisonment and her from an ill fated wedding.
Can't wait for the next book in the series although I would have liked to see the brother's uncover more information on their father's death.

Bella Worthington looks in the mirror at her reflection. She’s dressed in her wedding gown, heels & necklace Fitz has gotten for her, but she’s determined the wedding will not take place but she has to save her father. She thinks back 3 weeks & her time with Tommy Colt, whom she’s known since they were 4 years old & is her true love. Things get complicated from there, but you are rooting for Bella all the way!
This book was so intriguing I could not put it down…I read the whole thing in one sitting.

What an intriguing and amazing novel! Tommy and Bella have known each other since they were young children. When Tommy decides to go into The PI business with his brother James, this makes for an interesting dynamics. When Tommy restarts his friendship with Bella his childhood friend, things really turn romantic. Only things don't go as smooth sailing as the lovebirds would like. Read this outstanding novel to see how things go for Bella and Tommy.

Anytime you pick up a book be her you know it will be a great book. This one was so good that I just could not put it down.
Bella and Tommy were friends for a long time. They are developing into more than friends. Bella's father's partner has a son named Fritz. He is going to make things difficult for them.

Sticking to Her Guns
BJ Daniels is an evil genius! Suspenseful isn't a strong enough word for her writing. I have ALL of her books and this one just about did me in. I kept having to put it down because my heart would be pounding so hard and I would be a nervous wreck! I highly recommend this book!

Even better than the first book!

Good addition to the series. The book opens with Bella preparing for her wedding, but we soon learn it is to the wrong man. She is determined to escape it and is ready to take drastic measures.
The book then jumps back three weeks as Bella tells her friend about her fantastic weekend. She and her childhood best friend, Tommy Colt, reconnected and spent the weekend hanging out together. They watched movies, ate popcorn and ice cream, and spent their time getting to know each other again. Bella realizes she is in love with Tommy and likely has been for her entire life. But before she can tell Tommy how she feels, she needs to see what the emergency is that her father has called her home about.
Tommy has spent years on the rodeo circuit, traveling and playing the field. He's getting older and has realized that the rodeo doesn't hold the same fascination that it used to. After seeing Bella again, he's ready to move on and settle down. He lets his brother James know that he wants to join the family PI firm, and James is skeptical but willing to give Tommy a chance.
Bella came home to discover that her father was in terrible trouble. His partner's son had framed him for embezzlement and drug use and was using the threat of turning him in to force Bella to marry him. Bella and Tommy knew Fitz from when they were kids; he was a mean, spoiled bully then and hasn't gotten any better. He will do anything to get what he wants, and he wants Bella.
Bella and Tommy have a little more than a week to find a way to stop the wedding. But Fitz has Bella stuck because he finds a way to take it out on her father whenever she tries to do something. Tommy works hard to find the proof needed but keeps coming up empty. Fitz's desperation is evident as the wedding draws closer. I ached for Bella as time sped by. When she learned of a way to get the proof needed, she took a huge chance. But even if she got the evidence, she could not get it to anyone who could help.
I was on the edge of my seat as the wedding day dawned, and Bella was still trapped. She has a desperate plan to stop the wedding and fears it will be her only choice. But Tommy comes through for her with a fantastic and unique form of rescue. I enjoyed the following chapters as all the loose ends were wrapped up.
Because Tommy and Bella had known each other for a long time, the rapid pace of their romance was believable. I loved Tommy's protectiveness and determination to help Bella escape from Fitz. The ending was sweet, and I enjoyed seeing the first two Colt brothers get their happy-ever-afters.

I really enjoyed this intriguing romance. I bought this at a local store and I chose to voluntarily review this story. Just how far would you go to get your own way? I've given this a 4.5* rating. There is some sexual content and is not for the under 18 readers. There is a different kind of violence and blackmaily in this story. This story grabbed me almost from page 1. I couldn't believe one man was getting away with so many underhanded things. Then some things started turning. An interesting ending to this tale of 3 children who grew up around each other.

Who knew evil, could come in the form of a man that was so spoiled as a child that became a monster as an adult.
Bella, would do anything to protect her dad from this monster, even maybe, marry him.
Tommy, her best friend growing up would do his best to protect Bella, if he could from this monster.
So, many lives are ruined by him, a father that kills himself because of what he has done or will do to him.
Is anyone safe around this monster?

I enjoyed reading this story! I was drawn in to find out what is happening and how Bella deals with everything Fitz does to her and her father and how it ends. I highly recommend this book!!!!!
