From its creepy town mascot to the story of its cursed waterfall, Burden Falls is a small town dripping with superstition. Ava Thorn knows this well - since the horrific accident she witnessed a year ago, she's been plagued by creeping visions.
But when someone close to her is brutally murdered and Ava is the primary suspect, she starts to wonder if the legends surrounding the town are more fact than fiction.
Whatever secrets Burden Falls is hiding, there's a killer on the loose, and they have a vendetta against the Thorns...

Someone with authority NEEDS to read this book and turn it into a movie. A small town, a spooky legend, MURDER, and a little bit of teenage angst. WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR? Seriously, what more?
I loved Burden Falls. The legend of Deadeyed Sadie, the tension between the Thorn and Miller families, the murders and the mystery surrounding them, the supernatural vibes, and just everything. I mean this is essentially a mash up of your favorite CW teen drama and a Supernatural episode.you’ve got Ava Thorn who has lost so much in the past year. Her parents, her home, her lust for life. Then, all these people around her are dying and all the signs are pointing toward her, well sort of. You just need to read this book. If you like horror reads that involve town legends and real life horrors, then you need to pick up this book. There’s also the lighter side that follows Ava just figuring life out after everything that’s happened and I think that gives Burden Falls such a great balance!
Wicked Little Deeds was a story that I ended up gobbling up. I reviewed Harrow Lake, which I absolutely adored last year and I just hoped that this was going to hold up to the same promise. Kat Ellis knows how to write a thriller; this is very different to Harrow Lake but Wicked Little Deeds had the ability to smack you upside the head with its killer hook. Paranormal entity. An impending threat. Twists by the bucket load. If you think you have this one figured out be prepared for a grenade to blow up in your face.
Wicked Little Deeds Has the building block of teenage relationships, trust and manipulation, secrets and deaths. That first death is the starting pistol and it immediately has the reader invested. Be prepared to pick your jaw up from off the floor. The events take place in Burden Falls and the location is perfect. It’s got that vibe from old 80s horror movies. If I had to live there, I would likely be looking over my shoulder at every opportunity. Something just isn’t sitting right with that place. The story takes on the ability to walk a double-edged sword, you want to find out more but you’re scared to know how much more there is.
Kat Ellis has created a strong independent protagonist. I’m generally an adult horror reader, however I really enjoy reading about strong teenage characters. The nuances, the reactions to events. Ava is one such character like that. Her precious steeped in pain and suffering and still she is a strong character. Like any person that age she made mistakes, despite her age she still tried to rectify them. She’s sensible beyond her years. Her reactions to some of the events made me become fonder of her.
Then things start to go really crazy and Ava is zoomed in as the main suspect. The reason being? Everything starts happening on the anniversary of the car crash that killed her parents. Eva isn’t sure if she is seeing things or she’s being watched. Author tackled very sensitive themes with grace and precision. If you enjoy creepy young adult horror then put this to the top of your TBR immediately.
Wicked Little Deeds pulsates with originality. Fast paced and intelligent. Clever masterful novel.
Je me suis rapidement attachée à Ava.
This was a really solid well crafted story that I just could not put down.
Avas has lost everything she knew and loved. Starting a new life moving in with her uncle is not going to be easy.
Specially not when people in town are being murdered and their deaths might be connected.
The story as well as the characters felt so real that you were really invested in their story and the mystery surrounding the town’s legends, the families and their secrets. We all have secrets. Trust no one.
This twisty YA thriller is going to be perfect for an atmospheric mystery read on a rainy day.
Perfect for: People looking for a mystery involving a manor, family secrets, ghosts and so much more
I adored this story and highly recommend it to anyone who loves murder mysteries, drama and the paranormal. I started this story and could not put it down. I loved the twists and turns this story went and how it all made sense at the very end.
The character development of our main character, Ava is really great throughout the novel as she faces her fears and ends up breaking the cycle of hate that has cursed the Thorns and Millers for centuries. The plot development is incredible throughout the whole novel, especially in relation to Sadie and the murder mystery.
I loved finding out the family history of the Thorns and Miller's as well as how they are are related to the Sadie legend. I found the pacing was a very consistent and it really hooked me straight away. I loved how the descriptive tone use when adding atmosphere into the story and how every character had their own voice and personality.
Overall, I really loved this story and definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a spooky read or a murder mystery.
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Teen for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
First off, I was so excited to read this because I LOVED Harrow Lake so much. Burden Falls was not a disappointment and I devoured this book. Kat Ellis really knows how to write eerie atmospheres that pull you in and won’t let you go. The small town vibes, family history, and legacies make this such a great book full of creepiness.
We are following Ava who recently lost her parents in a car crash. She is dealing with a lot of grief and to make matters worse her Uncle Ty has to sell the family house that has been in their family for generations. Ty sold it to the Millers who have always hated the Thorns. Madoc Miller was the one who hit her parent’s car that killed them. So, Ava really isn’t doing her best at the moment dealing with so much, but then one of the Miller’s shows up dead. Everyone seems to think it’s Ava getting revenge, but Ava thinks it might be something paranormal and whatever it is isn’t done killing.
While the beginning of this book was a little slow, I understand why the Ellis put in so much information at the beginning of who was who and talked about the family histories that have always lived in Burden Falls. Once you get through a couple of chapters things start getting creepy and have you on the edge of your seat. I loved the main character Ava and I actually enjoyed all the side characters and thought they were well written and played an important role in the book. I like the mystery and how I truly couldn’t pin point who was murdering the people in Burden Falls. While this is a YA book, the murders were pretty gruesome which I think made it all the more spine-chilling and dark.
I think this is definitely a great horror book that will keep you guessing until the end, and you might even have to sleep with the lights on. Kat Ellis did it again and wrote another book full of secrets, horror, and twists.
Audiobook: This was in the goodreads Horror recommendations for Oct. so I gave it a try. It wasn't horror, IMHO. I'd call is suspense, very light horror, YA. The characters were well drawn out, fit well in the story and acted like someone their age would. 17-18 year olI admit I was disappointed in the beginning, she was such a HS girl, and I'm over interest that stage in life 100%. I stayed with it, some part of the story intrigued me, the mystery. As I kept listening I got more invested in these characters lives, enjoying the story more. I really didn't see the twisted ending coming, which is always nice. I liked it enough to download another book from this author. If you want to know about the story read the blurb.
I can see why readers enjoy Ellis' brand of writing. Atmospheric, eerie and makes you debate whether it's paranormal or man doing the slaughtering. This is my first novel by Ellis and I'm definitely looking forward to more of her style.
Ava Thorn lost her parents in a brutal car accident almost a year ago. Now, due to financial struggles, she has to move out of her childhood home only to find out that the one buying her home is none other than the man who killed her family in that deadly crash, Madoc Miller. If that isn't the worst part, she becomes primary suspect in a string of eye-gouging murders unraveling across the town. The age old feud between Thorns and Millers starts to bleed it's bloody history into Ava's world. Right on the back of that feud is the ancient legend about Dead-Eyed Sadie who kills by taking the eyes of her victims. Ellis easily lures readers into wondering who, or what, is the culprit behind the torturous killings of the local kids.
Definitely a fun excursion into the macabre for a young adult thriller. The beginning is a slow ride into the build-up of the characters, history and events leading up to current circumstances. While I wasn't wholly invested due to the slower pace I still found myself intrigued by the lead-up. Each character is well crafted and given a realistic depth that readers can find connection in. The urban legend surrounding Sadie was pretty captivating in an all at once creepy and sad way. Her current presence being creepy and her past being sad.
Ellis has an excellent way of tying things together. The way she worked everything into the plot and created this clean sweep of the storyline was expertly done. I did not figure out the mystery by the end even though my inkling staggered in a few close directions. I wasn't into any particular character over another but I did enjoy how everything meshed together. Ava was slightly on the too dark and broody level for my character liking but I can see how her persona can reflect a realistic and connectable image for other readers.
Looking for a slow building manifestation of eerie atmosphere for your Fall TBR? I'd recommend this one to young adult readers. Thank you Penguin Teen for the gifted advanced digital copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. True rating 3.5/5.
What I loved with Harrow Lake, the other book by Kat Ellis that I read last year, was the setting. And I couldn’t help but mention it because it’s the same with Wicked Little Deeds, only this time, the town is called Burden Falls. Burden Falls is one eerie town, surrounded by mystery and dripping with countless superstitions and it sets the story for me perfectly. I felt the atmosphere of the town and was hooked right from the start.
I liked that the book started with lots of mystery right away. That really sets my mood of reading of this book. I was so invested and kept guessing about lots of things till the last quarter of the book. I don’t really get scared reading a horror book but I know when a book is scary. And Wicked Little Deeds is one scary book. I also liked the bit of supernatural in this book. Well, I won’t spoil if there is really a supernatural element but I love the mystery surrounding it.
I found the main protagonist, Ava, a very well-written character. She’s strong and capable despite everything. But don’t be fooled she’s also vulnerable especially after becoming a suspect in a murder. I love solving murders with my favorite characters and I enjoyed reading Ava trying to connect the dots and solve the mystery. Ava is just so brave. I was rooting for her right from the start. She’d been through a lot and still going through a lot but she kept going. I love her. I also love Dominic. Seriously, the main characters are very well-written.
Even though the book started with a bang and mystery, I thought the pace was a bit slow but it picked up really soon. Then the pace became just enough for a story in this genre. I also think it’s brilliant that the chapters are short. It didn’t just make me keep reading but it made the tension alive. This is a page-turner. the author knows exactly what to reveal in the right moment in the story so there was no dull moment or info-dumping part. I also think the story wrapped very neatly.
If you’re a fan of YA, mystery, horror and thriller, this book is perfect for you. A big bonus is the setting, so atmospheric and eerie, it’s perfect escape.
Kat Ellis wrote one of my favorite YA books last year, Harrow Lake and I was so excited to hear about Burden Falls, another YA spooky thriller that’s put Ms. Ellis on my fav authors list.
I love any creepy story featuring small towns but add in urban legends, sketchy superstitions and generational curses? Well, that’s just catnip to my little kitty soul!
Ava Thorn has had it rough; her parents died terribly a year ago and the person responsible is now purchasing her childhood home whose family, incidentally is the Millers and have been at odds with Ava’s family for generations. When people start to die, the urban legend of Dead-Eyed Sadie begins to float around but the police are soon suspecting Ava. Ava will have to prove that Dead-Eyed Sadie exists in order to clear her name.
This is the perfect spooky book for any fan of the genre, I loved the addition of a little romance to keep things moving and loved the twisty plot that perfectly blends eerie dark themes with the more realistic premise of friendship, love and loss. Highly recommend this one!
Riverdale meets The Haunting of Hill House in this gorgeously gruesome tale of dark secrets, family feuds and local supernatural legends.
Harrow Lake is one of my favourite books, and Wicked Little Deeds is just as amazing! Kat Ellis is brilliant at creating an atmospheric read, where the lines between reality and the supernatural are blurred. Kat brilliantly evokes a suffocating small town feel, and I loved how local legends and family secrets were woven into the plot. Wicked Little Deeds is a new favourite, and I can't wait to see what Kat writes next.
There is a small town where each generation is told the stories of a ghost that lives there. But Ava Thron knows more about Dead-Eyed Sadie than anybody, for the ghost haunts the very grounds she lives on. Though she’s a skeptic, the murder of a classmate brings echos about Sadie being responsible, and while some may believe in the ghost doing the killing, the police have Ava as their prime suspect. Now she must do whatever she can to prove that she is innocent…even if that means proving a ghost was the one responsible.
Though I’m not well-versed in horror books, I thought that this one was spooktaclar! The author paints such a great image of your main ghost, that you can’t help but worry that she’s in every dark corner you find in your own home
Each character is well rounded- and I loved the foreshadowing that the author put into the book. Reading about small details, only to later find out they were important to the storyline, was really interesting and made it feel as if I too was investigating the murders that occurred in Burden Falls!
If you’re wanting a spooky book, where each chapter unfolds a new clue to the mystery, then you’re going to love this book!!
Big thank you to Netgalley and publisher for an ARC in exchange of an honest review!! This book is set to come out August 24th!
You would think that this book will start nice and slow, build up the momentum and mystery but NO.... this book just throws you into it's pages from the get-go.... the mystery and thrilling moments just keep going strong, and OH MY GOD that ending.... just WOW... Okki so i kinda figured who is who but i also kinda wished it wouldn't be that person... you know that feeling when reading a mystery and at a certain point you go " please don't let that person be the villain" .... yeah ... up till the end i was hoping but it came true.... never the less... it was a Happy good ending. So in the end here is what you are going to do... you will sit down like me and order a nice little copy of this book and you will find the coziest space on the couch, plunge on and binge-read it. Not but seriously i HIGHLY recommend the book if you like thriller mysteries.
Another fantastic ya horror by Kat. I loved the whole book. I actually managed to guess who the culprit was which made me feel super smart. I will 100% pick up anything else by Kat Ellis, definitely recommend.
I received a copy of this book to take part in a book tour hosted by The Write Reads, with thanks to them and also the publisher and the author.
This book begins with Ava Thorn, her uncle and his wife having to move out of their family's generational home. Things haven't been good for the Thorns for a very long time, with people rumouring that the Thorn's are cursed. The Bloody Thorns. This is all happening almost exactly a year following the accident that killed both her parents, and she won't be able to forgive the man she holds responsible, Madoc Miller. When she finds out that is who purchased her home, she is livid. If things can be any worse, she also has to look at both the Miller kids every day in school. Ava is seething. But when a body washes up at the bottom of the waterfall by Thorn Manor with their eyes missing, everyone starts to whisper about Dead Eye Sadie, the ghost who haunts the Thorn family...Looking for her eyes. But then the body count continues to rise...First the girl in the waterfall, then Freya Miller, then Ava's best friend, Ford. Kids start to whisper. Is it Ava? Is she the one killing these kids and taking their eyes? Is she a killer? Can Ava get over her hatred of the Millers to work with Dominic to get to the bottom of this mystery?
I loved this book, is it supernatural? Is it not? I'm not going to tell you but this book is one of those 'everything isn't as it seems' type of books. I enjoyed the main characters of this book and believe me, that can make all the difference. This mystery wasn't boring nor was it too much. We got a nice dollop of character development as well as our mystery. I will say I did predict a massive part of this story fairly early on, though did not predict the WHY behind that event, but I won't say that ruined my experience with this read. Overall, I think this story was well written, well thought out and executed excellently. This is a book I'm glad to have read.
Not a bad mystery, but I figured out who the killer was and wanted Ava to put at least one piece together sooner. I also thought Ford was a terrible friend and didn't like that he treated Ava as an afterthought then expected her to forgive him and move on. She was his only real friend, but okay guy.
You can find my full review for this as well as other books on my blog here
Huge thanks to Dave @TheWriteReads, Penguin and Kat Ellis for my beautiful ARC of the book in exchange for my honest review.
I can never resist a YA thriller so when the invite for this tour arrived in my inbox there was no way that I could pass it up. The blurb had me hooked and gave me strong supernatural vibes which I absolutely love.
After receiving the book I practically read it in one sitting. Every single break I had from work and whenever I had 5 minutes to spare I was reading this book. The short, snappy chapters made it so easy to pick up and left you desperate to know what was coming next.
This is my first book by Kat Ellis but her writing style had me gripped from beginning to end so I would be very keen to pick up her other books based on this one.
So what’s this book about you ask?
It’s about Ava, the youngest of the Thorn family who has had to move out of their manor where her family have lived for generations after the death of her parents in a terrible crash the year before causes financial difficulty. This is the end of Ava’s life as she knows it and she has to come to terms with a whole bunch of stuff.
There is a very creepy, supernatural small town vibe in this book that I just love. The descriptions of the manor, the grounds surrounding it and the town itself is done amazingly well and there’s just this really eerie feel about it all.
All the way through you are left wondering what the logical/rational explanation for all the goings on are and even when the big reveal is made at the end (which by the way completely shocked me and I did not see coming at all) you are left wondering whether there was actually something supernatural going on.
The town legend of Dead Eyed Sadie and the way it all relates to the two main families in the story is really weird and creepy and I loved it!
The love interest was a bit obvious but I still loved it.
Ava was a fun and realistic main character and I just had so much fun with this book. It was full of surprises, fast paced and just worked really really well for me personally.
I think any fans of YA thriller books will have a blast with this one!
This was a decent read a pretty solid mystery thriller with supernatural elements Ava was a pretty good character I love stories about towns with a messes up history and secrets the reveal was okay but the ending made up for it.
I don't know what it is about this author but I love her writing.
It is so deliciously creepy. YA is usually a miss for me, but for some reason Kat Ellis really appeals to me. Maybe because her female characters aren't boy/girl crazy girls who make silly decisions. Maybe because they're a little bit screwed up. Maybe because her books layer on the creepy until its explosive conclusion.
Harrow Lake is my favourite YA horror book! So I went into this with high expectations because I already read some reviews saying Burden Falls is as good as Harrow Lake.
This haunting story is about a superstitious town, cursed waterfalls and a feud. Its equally mysterious and chilling. Just when I was fully indulged in solving the mystery, a scene happened that ran chill down my spine. That’s when I knew I like this book too. You just cannot go wrong with the supernatural vibes. They always do good for the story!! Ellis has done great by giving equal importance to the story composition and the characters, it felt both character driven and story driven. Well weighted in my opinion because I was invested in Ava’s life as well as the mystery surrounding the Millers & the Thorns.
Overall, Burden Falls is a well rounded story that will appeal all horror lovers, especially the ones that look for a good supernatural mystery.
It’s almost time for the spooky season, and do I have a paranormal YA suspense recommendation for you! Burden Falls is the US title and cover. It's Wicked Little Deeds in the UK, SA, and AUS. In true Kat Ellis fashion, Burden Falls (like Ellis’ debut, Harrow Lake, which receives a crossover mention) treats readers to some utterly delicious 80s horror movie vibes.
One year ago, Ava Thorn lost her parents in a terrible car accident that had some too-close-for-comfort parallels to the local legend of paranormal entity Dead-Eyed Sadie. One year later, she is losing not only her childhood but the family home. What’s worse? I mean, what could possibly be worse?! Thorn Manor is going to a Miller (the Millers are the sworn enemies of the Thorns; it’s been that way since… forever ago) — and not just any Miller. Madoc Miller. The Miller who caused the accident that killed Ava’s parents. Small comfort, Ava still has Uncle Ty and Aunt Caroline (now her guardians), and the three displaced Thorns move into a small, drafty cottage.
From page one, Burden Falls pulls you in with a story rich in eerie atmosphere, small town distortions, and complex family histories. There’s something rotten in the sour apple orchards, and soon after the Thorns are forced out of their home, the first eyeless victim washes up dead. The second victim soon follows, and police attentions shifts to Ava… as the prime suspect. Hang on to the edge-of-your-seat because the twists and turns just keep on coming, especially after the midpoint.
What’s more to love: the dynamic between the Millers and Thorns, especially the younger generation; the way friendships and their complexities are explored; the enemies-to-allies element; the creepiness virtually leaps off the page (prepare to sleep with a night light).
The queen of crossover, Ellis effortlessly combines paranormal with the elements of a YA thriller and a good-old YA mystery. A must-read for horror fans.
Now that I've read two of her books which have been consistently good, I can officially say I am a fan of Kat Ellis.
In many young adult books, the characters are often unlikeable, cringey and unrelatable due to unrealistic decision making to move the plot along. However, in Wicked Little Deeds the characters are intensely likeable because they actually behave like normal people and therefore it is easier to become more invested in them. This was one of my favourite things about the book.
The horror aspect was clever and left me feeling a little spooked. Well done.
"Burden Falls" shares a lot of similarities with "Harrow Lake" on the surface: both are horror novels featuring family secrets, heavy legacies, and a grumpy protagonist just trying to make it through the novel, but that's where their similarities cease. The stakes feel higher in "Burden Falls" - not only is there a supernatural threat (a ghost with no eyes!) stalking poor Ava Thorn, but she has threats coming from the mundane as well: her family is struggling, she's grieving the loss of her parents, and she's implicated in a series of murders striking her town. What's going on? Who's an ally? And who's secretly trying to sabotage her?
"Burden Falls" takes a lot of cues from urban legends and modern horror, and on the whole, while it wasn't terribly mind-blowing or unpredictable, it was fun. The supporting cast was likable and helpful, and Ava was never truly alone in her quest to find out what was happening. The romance was largely unnecessary, but it didn't wear out its welcome. On the whole, the my biggest complaint was that it started very slow - the story was burdened by a great deal of set up and a run down of who hated who and why, and while I later appreciated some of that information later on, it meant that things didn't get spooky or tense until a good 35% in.
On the whole, I enjoyed "Burden Falls". If you liked "Harrow Lake", you'll definitely enjoy this one - I in fact enjoyed "Burden Falls" even more so than "Harrow Lake". Kat Ellis continues to put out fun, quality young adult horror that's good for a few nights of spooks.
This was so good. All gothic and horrifying, a cross between The Ring, The Grudge, Scream and I Know What your family did a few centuries back, with a dash of Romeo and Juliet thrown in.
Kat Ellis has created a truly spooky mystery thriller with lots of twists and turns. I did manage to guess who done it but literally only just before the book’s characters. I was led a merry dance with all the missteps and clever authorly suggestions too.
The Burden Falls legend of Deadeyed Sadie added a spooky layer to this murderous tale and I definitely got that horror movie heart racing vibe whilst reading this. I also loved that the manor and setting became a character in this tale too.
Full of newspaper clippings, family feuds and a hit teen version of Most Haunted this is a book to read with the lights on and 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 A film to watch with the lights off! I just hope I don’t get nightmares like Ava 😱😬😴.
Main character Ava is a intriguing heroine, one who maybe isn’t an innocent as she seems. Is there curse on her family? And will she be the one to survive it?
Wicked Little Deeds is out now so don’t delay, read and scare yourself today!
Thanks to Dave at The WriteReads and the publisher for the gifted ecopy for the purposes of an honest review.
Burden Falls did not disappoint, and I read it in one sitting. Kat Ellis has a knack for creating uncanny atmospheres that draw you in and refuse to let you go. The small-town atmosphere, family history, and legacies make this a creepy book.
We’re following Ava who recently lost both of her parents in a vehicle accident. She is grieving, and to make matters worse, her Uncle Ty is forced to sell the family home, which has been in their family for centuries. The Millers, who have always despised the Thorns, purchased it from Ty. Madoc Miller was the one who collided with her parents’ automobile, killing them. So, Ava isn’t doing her best right now, dealing with so much, but then one of the Millers appears.
Kat Ellis has created a strong protagonist that is able to stand on her own. I usually read horror for adults, but I appreciate reading about powerful adolescent characters. The intricacies, the responses to circumstances. Ava is an example of such a character. Her precious has been through a lot of sorrow and suffering, yet she has remained a strong character. She made mistakes like any other person her age, but despite her age, she sought to correct them. She has a maturity far above her years. Her reactions to certain occurrences made me like her even more.
Then things start to get out of hand, and Ava is singled out as the prime suspect. What is the explanation for this? Everything begins on the anniversary of her parents’ deaths in a vehicle accident. Eva isn’t sure if she’s being watched or if she’s seeing things. The author handled extremely delicate subjects with grace and clarity. If you appreciate spooky young adult horror, add this to your TBR list right away.
Burden Falls is brimming with creativity. Intelligent and fast-paced. A brilliant and amazing novel.
This is my first Kat Ellis novel, but the blurb intrigued me, so I thought I'd give it a go and I wasn't disappointed.
Wicked Little Deeds is a brilliant mix of young adult mystery and horror, with a bit of romance in there, too.
The story follows Ava, who's being forced to move from her childhood home after the death of her parents and the collapse of their business. If that wasn't bad enough, she becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her high school nemesis, which is soon connected to the legend of Dead Eyed Sadie, a ghost associated with her family. Unable to leave it alone, she sets out to find the actual killer.
Ava and Dominic are intriguing and flawed characters. I have to say I usually get a little annoyed with teen characters for being a little self-involved, but I really enjoyed both of them and the way their chemistry really shines through the story.
Another thing I loved about the story was the urban legend of Dead Eyed Sadie that was woven throughout the mystery. It was creepy and captivating at the same time. There were some fantastic spooky scenes featuring Dead Eyed Sadie throughout that gave me goosebumps!
The mystery was also well done. It really kept me guessing even though I did eventually manage to figure it out.
I know this story is billed as a young adult story but honestly anyone of any age who loves both mysteries and urban legends would enjoy this story (says the woman who is probably too old to be reading young adult novels).
Wicked Little Deeds is an atmospheric and creepy read that I honestly couldn't put down. I'm looking forward to reading more from Kat Ellis!
Wicked Little Deeds is the UK title and cover. It’s Burden Falls in the US. No matter which cover you get, the same fantastic mystery is contained inside. I enjoyed this fabulous tale by Kat Ellis from start to finish!
The book is described as Riverdale meets Stephen King. I would agree! The story is riveting, creepy, mysterious, and so good I couldn’t put it down.
Ava Thorn is a protagonist you can root for while acknowledging her issues and faults. Every other character in the book spent time on my suspect list and there were a lot of suspects!
I am pretty soft-hearted these days and the gruesomeness of the murders got to me a bit. But, I wouldn’t have missed reading this murder mystery.
I suggest you pick up a copy of Wicked Little Deeds, settle in on a dark evening, and read it straight through. It’s a murder mystery you will talk about for days.
Don’t forget to close the curtains before you start reading!!
I received a copy of the book for a TWR book blog tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.
