Excellent read. This is not the first book by Le Carré that I have read. I do see why it is considered a classic, especially for mystery genre and spy thriller fans.

This novel examines the burden and evils of two opposing political systems. Burden: each political system has to protect itself from influence by the other. Evil: each political system uses it's power to eliminate the unwitting, or innocent to protect itself. Good people are murdered, but the nation lives on.

Two prominent twist change the landscape of the novel, and it's meaning. I love how Le Carré uses the a spy story to examine faulty humanity, and therefore, faulty political systems.

I think it may be better as an actual book. I listened to a performance of this book and it was hard to keep straight who was speaking and the quality wasn’t great. It was different than an audiobook but a live performance.

The book was just okay for me. It felt like a book my guys would like…very masculine. Not beautiful language or likeable characters.

Great set of books

Loved this first glance into the world of George Smiley. Difficult to put down and great plotlines in each book.
