With only seconds to spare, Cade Palmer had rescued feisty Bailey Preston from the grenade that demolished her home. The sexy ex-soldier had no doubt the explosion was payback for his own dangerous past in special ops, but before long, Cade realized Bailey was the true target—thanks to her connection to some very powerful, and very deadly, weapons. Now, to protect her from the assassins, Cade was taking Bailey on the run. He knew she hated relying on anyone to keep her safe, but as a trained-to-kill soldier, Cade wasn't about to let the enemies get their hands on her. That was his job….

A co-worker loaned me a bag of books and me being me I felt compelled to read at least one. This isn't my usual fare but turns out it wasn't so bad. It's a short quick read. The very first chapter starts off with a bang (literally) and we're immediately into the action. The pacing is frenetic with no space for a lull. Interestingly this is marketed as a romance but spends more time on the action which is why I'm putting it on my adventure shelf. The book does what it does.

I read this book from my online library. Dana Marton has become one of my favorite authors! Her books have a wonderful pace with intertwined suspense that just won't let you put it down until the end. I plan on reading everything she writes.

This book started off with action and didn't slow down. There was humor mixed in as the story went along. I like that they didn't make the main female character a wimp waiting to be rescued by the hero. The story flowed well and it seemed I just started it and I was to the end. Would be fun to check out to see if there is more stories with some of the characters that popped in and out of this one.

Interesting plot and the couple ended up being cute together, but there relationship kind of felt rushed.

This book started out with the apartments building that both Bailey and Cade shared as neighbors being blown up. Cade saved Bailey’s life. Bailey wanted to go to the police like most of us would. Cade wanted to find out who was behind it. Against bailey’s wishes they set out to find the person responsible. Before their home was leveled by a bomb, the two annoyed each other, fought, and did not like the other. Bailey had a fighting spirit. Throughout the book it’s fun to see that opposites can attract. They were both funny at moments, and the action is intense. Who was behind the bombing was a surprise. I really enjoyed this book. If I was ever in trouble I would want Cade on my side!

Sample of Chapter 10
“Given the circumstances, don’t you think I should know more about you?” Mostly, she needed a distraction. She was running on pure adrenaline, with little to hold her up beyond that. “All you need to know is that you’re crazy about me.” His eyes glinted dangerously, but a smile hovered on his lips. “I don’t think so.” “You’re full of pixie dust, Tinker Bell.” He let loose a full-powered grin then. “You admitted the first week I moved in that I rock your world. No sense going into denial now.” “I said you’re as hardheaded as a rock.” She responded. They’d had that conversation when he had backed over her favorite garden flag.

A very good romantic suspense thriller, a lot of action packed into a little book with just the right touch of romance. Cade Palmer is a no-nonsense guy with a shadowy background and Bailey Preston; an every-day local girl. Bailey’s character is on the money with her response at being dragged into a whirlwind of FBI and terrorists and her anger is totally focused on the cause of this upheaval; Cade Palmer. But then the whirlwind turns the other direction when it comes to light that Cade Palmer is not the target…..she is!

Eh, nothing spectacular. The romance felt rushed, and the ending rushed too. By the end I starting skimming just because I wanted the book over with.

I liked the characters, Cade and Bailey. The storyline just left something to be desired.
