The wrong girl. The right moves. The dirty business deal that ends with a mule and a gun…in the hands of someone Chase least expects.

After spending more than a decade in Afghanistan, Chase is more than happy to start his own business, doing exactly what he loves. A deal goes sour and Chase is left to pick up the pieces. Luckily, his military buddy, Carson, is more than happy to assume the role. Ignoring his broken heart, Chase motors on, hiring a lovely young assistant named Summer, who turns out to be something Chase would never have guessed.

Working with her uncle for countless schooling years was a perfect move for Summer, but when her uncle sells on retirement, Summer finds herself being turned away by potential employers, citing her lack of professional experience as an excuse for giving her a chance. But when Chase, a man opening a gun business, throws her an olive branch, she is over the moon. The small town catches wind of Summer’s new position, and she finds herself sullying a long-distance relationship inadvertently.

A horrifying incident in the office threatens Summer’s new career, causing Chase to wonder if his past has come back to haunt him, after all. And when Chase’s hand is finally dealt to him, he learns who the traitor is…seconds too late.

This is book nine in A Town Without Pity series and it is Chase and Summer's story and it is definitely a must read. Chase is a civilian after leaving the military and he has bought a house and started his own business only for the woman that he was a future with told him that she had met someone else leaving him angry and betrayed but he was thankful that he found out now and not later. Summer worked for her uncle but when he decided to sell his business leaving her out of a job and having a difficult time getting a job even after having a lot of interviews and now she is getting so frustrated that know one will give her a chance but then she got a job with Chase and she is not only excited but determined to do a good job so that he wouldn't regret hiring her. The more time that Chase and Summer spend together the stronger there feelings for each other grows but someone is watching and waiting for the perfect time to strike but how will it all end. Omg I absolutely loved this book and I couldn't put it down and had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next and it was so addictive along with a explosive cliff hanger ending and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

This book features an unexpected, insta love romance between the boss and his new assistant. It also includes some intrigue and ends in a cliff hanger that makes one eager to read the next book. The chemistry between Chase and Summer is white hot though both do their best to ignore and control it. They also discover they have an instant rapport in the office setting. They work well as a team and seem to be on the same wavelength even though they haven’t worked together for very long. That rapport unexpectedly carries on into their personal lives too, almost like they were fated for each other. Unfortunately, their new business already has an enemy who is determined to derail their initial success and the danger is mounting.

Chase hires Summer to help with the gun business. They become really close as both are workaholics and more. There are some great friends close to them and they look out for each other. Someone within the warehouse has been paid to do something to one of them. The characters are terrific, with intense feelings and emotions, entertaining situations and great dialogue. The storyline has plenty of drama, danger, secrets, betrayal, steam, protectiveness and much more. This series is so addictive and each has a hook at the end to keep your heart racing. Please hurry up soon with the next book.

What a great read! Caution, once you start, you won't be able to put it down. You're quickly pulled into the story and find yourself loving everything about the book. The characters are engaging, easy to get to know and feel like friends you've known for a lifetime!.

I really like Sandy Appleyard's storylines and this is a good one. Chase is opening a business and hires Summer to work at the front desk. They think he has PTSD, and there is a lot about that in the book. The only things I don't care for in the book is the profanity and the sex.

I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Quite slow to start. Recognised the people in it from the previous books for a change. Once it got going it was great until I got to the end and felt like I had fallen off a cliff.
