Vivian and Draxor. Vivian has been sent to arrange a treaty with Draxor’s people — the Zylonians — to save earth from the bad guys. She’s got PTSD and a near constant headache that mysteriously halts whenever she’s near the hero. Because she was taken and tortured and mysteriously let to escape by the bad guys. She’s been in earth’s military for nine years.
Draxor is from a race that is top of the food chain, as it were, in the galaxy. The universal language is his. And he’s in charge of the military.
The attack on earth happened 25 years prior to their meeting. But Vivian also says at one point it was 20 years ago. And one Zylonian year is about 20 earth years. Because time moves differently. So there’s that. I couldn’t figure this out because is there a dateline? Or do they just count it differently? If the former, wouldn’t time back on earth have advanced like a lot by the “time” she got back?
Vivian was six when earth was invaded. So she’s either 26 or 31. Who knows? Earth had to send their youngest children (from each family) to the invaders. Great negotiation skills. But it wasn’t her. It was her sister.
The POV alternates but for Draxor it’s a bit bizarre. For example, he’ll refer internally to the “elephant” in the room. Has he ever seen an elephant? And in the same paragraph refer to his “essenxia”? So there is world building going on obviously, but it’s not permeative. What kind of alien says “yikes”?
This is very much instalove. They are together as mates and together in bed very quickly. Then they get to know each other. Draxor is 158 years old. Whether that’s in earth years or in the Zylonian 20 to one dog years I do not know.
So this was a pretty interesting set up apart from the logistical questions. Then it really all fell apart. Oddly it was the use of “tits dangling free” that made me take pause. And the “humongous wave of pleasure rolled over me,” that had me doubting my book vetting process. It was the weird af sex scene. Y’all. Just no. But it was also the lack of editing and care.
Yep. I’ve already read a book in this series. And it was not an “enjoyable” (to use the trite book review word that people who have nothing else to say but don’t exactly regret their time invested use) experience. Not enjoyable, but in the manner of train wrecks, and list-making, I soldiered through it.
To wit:
The humongous wave was joined by the humongous field. And the humongous space station. The ginormous spaceship. There’s a deity called “Ramos” but it’s never explained. “The knife's tip hovered by her glorious boob,” followed by my humongous eyeroll. In another sex scene, he “expels his juices” into her. In two consecutive paragraphs we get immensely proud, immense hall, and then two paragraphs later the same hall is again described as…wait for it…immense. Draxor “caressed my ass,” and two paragraphs later we get: “Just then Draxor caressed my ass…”

I could say this book had potential. Obviously it did. It’s a book with several must-have-been-high high star reviews. But the following lists say to me that nobody really, not reeeaaalllyyy, gave a good $hit. For that, my only appreciation is the fact that this got published. And the fact that my vetting process will necessarily improve by leaps and bounds. Fool me once…so this one’s on me.
Errors:
“…the magnitude it would escalade to if the entire universe was involved.” — escalate
“And not because I emphasized with their pain—I was beyond caring…” — empathized
“I was sure he and her would get along a lot better than her and Eryx.” — he and she. Or just they.
“He held no judgment nor prejudice…” — neither judgment
“Their increasing numbers would seal our fates.” — fate
“I am fine, my sassath.” — sasseath, Zylonian endearment (honest to f, dear author, it’s your made up word!)
“It would be a pity if you had technical difficulties and an all-out war would still break out.” — war still broke out
“She had strategical and tactical thinking…” — strategic
“…when Ramos would seem fit to bless us with some,…” — see fit
“…take my brother's offer to use theirs.” — take up
“A goddess reincarnate.” — incarnate
“…swam as fast as nobody had ever swam before,…” — swam faster than anyone had
“…you helped built the Intergalactic Alliance.” — build
“Why wouldn't I, a Zylonian, not be allowed…” — either “wouldn’t I be” OR “would I not be”
“They Harnongs hardly had…” — The
“…to keep up the peace,” — keep the peace
WTFs:
“…my boneless body melted backward, offering my chest and tits to him.” — not the same thing, then?

Re-read. Just as good the second time around.

I really enjoyed this book. If you love action, love, betrayal, and family finding each other, this book is for you!!!
Everything was happening, and not a moment in the book felt like it was forced or that things were moving too fast.

This is book One in the Intergalactic Aliance series and it is amazing. I was glued to my Kindle and Couldn't rest untill I finished it Vivian and Draxor are our Fated mates couple, She is human and went in a stolen space shop to find help for our planet earth that is under atack for the last twenty years by an evil Race. Draxor wants nothing more than to end that scourge from the rest of the universe but something else happens, and he finda himself with so much more. The surrounding plot is very good and let me very curious about other chatectheres like Vivian's sister and Draxor's best friend.

I was a little bored in the middle and then the action picked up again. This story follows Draxor, Lord High Commander of Gwynn and Major Vivian Manchester from Earth.
And…. I forgot to come back to this review. Listen, it’s more of the same but I’m a sucker for it. Apparently anything including bodyguards and aliens + human combos are my jam. Extra points if it’s an alien bodyguard.
This was fun and I will most likely continue the series.

I like the basic premise of the plot as well as the protagonists. But this book suffered from a lack of good editing. Which is a shame because there’s promise in the writing.
Issues:
The author needed some developmental editing; especially with regards to sci-fi, story, and plausibility. Alien antagonists have been on earth for 20 years destroying everything:
“There was a possibility that it was entirely different on the west coast or the center of what once was the United States. We had no contact with anybody outside our thousand or so mile radius.”
If that’s the case, how does she have cosmetics packed with her on the alien ship they steal? How do they have coffee when they land back in the former U.S. while also living in a cave system? He rips her clothing numerous times when they come together and though he walks her back to her cabin it’s never mentioned how they managed this unnoticed when they were trying to keep their relationship a secret initially. Details like this chip away at the framework of the story.
Overuse of specific words. The word ‘boobs’ is used 8x and truthfully has no place here. It reads like a giggling 14 year old wrote it. Surpassing boobs we have ‘tits’ used 24x. There are other words —breasts, chest —make use of them. An argument can be made for the use of ‘tits’ sparingly in a steamy moment but it shouldn’t be trotted out as often as it was.

Hear me out … the basic premise of the plot was promising but the execution was lacking.
Seriously lacking good editing and thought out chapters cause it was a mess.
Made up words, names etc were basically just normal nouns and names with X ( like Eryx instead of Eric) idk why it bothers me so much.
The insta love was the expected since the book’s title has a “mate” in it but the whole thing felt weird. There was no explanation how the whole mating works, how they can recognize each other and “just a feeling in his chest” doesn’t work for me cause apparently the H “never believed in soulmates” so why would he suddenly believe that a pain in his chest was bc of his mate and not heart attack.
Another thing is the timeline.
1.The aliens that attacked the earth had been there for the last 20y but our gal still has cosmetics to glam herself up out in the space ?
2. The time was working differently than on earth but it was never said how, just that their “month” was a “monnoth” or sth like that. ADDING RANDOM LETTERS TO NORMAL WORDS DOESNT WORK OK?
Like how long was their month ? What was the unit used ? Which sun or whatever we’re they using as a reference?
… a don’t even start me about:
1. using words like “my prick” in reference the alien’s d*ck and how magical H was always tearing down h’s clothes but apparently no one noticed her walking naked on the spaceship?

The start of this story was great, reminded me of star trek, but then the two mains met. Suddenly our flame haired alabaster skinned green eyed heroine changed. She's attracted to the men she sees but none like big blue. That's the hero, the big blue almost human, but for the blue skin. For his part big blue sees flame hair and goes into depth about her physical attributes, like a lot. They talk, he says he'll help and tears well in the heroine's eyes. This happens. From then it felt long and drawn out. Story is told from both the perspective of the male and female mains.

Wow! I did NOT expect great plot, world building, character development and writing!
I thought this was just a short smutty palate cleanser. Nope. Still smutty, but very good! I was transported to that universe and lived with the characters. I think you can't ask much more from a book.

Too much "boobs" and "tits" style language. I wondered if this was written more from a male "gaze" PoV. It felt like a more stereotyped masculine view of sci-fi romance and lacked depth and balance in the romantic details.

Written in first person by Bella Blair, The High Commander's Mate is the 1st book in the Intergalactic Alliance Series and follows Lord High Commander Draxor of Gwynn and Major Vivian Manchester of Earth.
Earth had been attracked by an alien species known as the Abbaddoths, and had been under their brutality for the past 20 years.
Vivian Manchester was a twenty-six year old human Major from Earth. After suffering torture at the hands of the Abbaddoths, she escaped with the help of her sister Violet, then used a stolen Abbaddoth ship to locate the Intergalactic Alliance in hopes of getting help for Earth.
Draxor of Gwynn was a hundred-and-fifty-eight-year-old Zylonian Prince, and the Lord High Commander of the Tryxion, which was the flagship for his battle fleet, and a member of the Intergalactic Alliance. Immediately upon meeting Vivian, he discovered the human to be his sasseath, or one true mate, and agreed to help her and free Earth of the Abbaddoth.
Zylonians are humanoid. The only things that separate them from humans is their huge frames, turquoise blue skin, black hair and amber eyes.
First intercourse took place in chapter 11 at the 24% mark. My typical complaint with these romance novels is the lack of romance and how long they make us wait to read the raunch. That is so NOT the case with this book. We are treated to five separate sexual interactions between the couple, none of which disappoint, and we didn't have to wait forever.
This book was longer than most, taking the better half of the day to read. It balanced the romance and adventure perfectly. I quickly became addicted to the story line/plot and heavily recommend the read. I am really excited to start the next book in the series, which doesn't happen often, so it's a nice change.

i don’t quite know what to make of it
Everything was surface details. Literally. Nothing was properly delved into. You have characters that are in a 339 page book and yet everything is still rushed.

Interesting plot premise and characters but too many mistakes
The concept for the storyline was interesting although it did follow the trope of alien fated mates pretty predictably. I liked the strength and yet the vulnerability of the female lead, but before I had gotten a read on the male lead (we hadn't seen much of his personality outside of his pull toward the female lead) I started getting sick of the typos. Then when I was only to pg 53 I noticed a pretty serious plot error popped up. Basically the author took a character from the human crew and misplaced it among the Lord High Commanders council: see page 7 in the scenario where the human crew escapes from Earth on the stolen alien ship, the author portrays the navigation officer on the human crew as a female human named Lieutenant Vandorrynn; then on page 53 when Major Vivian Manchester meets the Lord High Commanders council, Lieutenant Vandorrynn is an alien navigation officer on the IA starship, and the human navigation officer if somebody named Lieutenant Chaff. At that point I figured if we're only 53 pages in and mistakes this bad slipped past the editor and the author -- besides all the typographical errors -- what's the rest of the book going to be like? Let's just say as much as I like the story this kind of plot error gets on my nerves.

Yep, more typos and yet another plot error. The author can't keep the description of her character straight, confusing the eye color of Vivian's sister Violet, first saying on page 158, I think it is, that Violet had the blue eyes of their father; and then on page 225 saying Violet's eyes were like their mother's, which are supposed to be green everywhere else earlier in the book. So who Violet does take after, their mother or their father? Pretty sure it's the father with the blue eyes but the author can't keep it straight.
Overall it's a neat idea and aspects of it are interesting, but the execution is lacking polish. The author took the time to create a whole new set of languages with a matrix of each alien species words for certain things but as other reviewers has also noted, the author used Earth and human descriptions the alien High Commanders inner monologues and speech patterns and he admitted he'd never seen a human before and they could not even find the planet itself so how would he know that she had the neck of a swan, to use Latin phrasing (as when Draxor uses "MO")? So while the author was trying to be through in her world building, she just didn't quite make it. Either those human terms need to be explained away in the plot building or the author needs to be more cognizant of using human descriptions and slang for alien characters, especially those who have not come into contact with humans.
Lastly I agree with other reviewers and that some of the terminology for female and male anatomy was kind of childish, and can we just avoid using the word c*nt for a female's genitalia? Seriously, that's a word of insult used to call people and compare them to what the word used to mean: dirty, nasty, smelly, or diseased, overused female bits. Not that I dislike the word -- I love cuss words -- but not that word in that context.

I can't say I'm thrilled with the format where lots of questions go on answered and it's just kind of not necessarily a cliffhanger but not wrapped up neatly either with questions unanswered for later on in the series. The concept for the storyline was interesting although it did follow the trope of alien fated mates pretty predictably. I liked the strength and yet the vulnerability of the female lead, but before I had gotten a read on the male lead (we hadn't seen much of his personality outside of his pull toward the female lead) I started getting sick of the typos. Then when I was only to pg 53 I noticed a pretty serious plot error popped up. Basically the author took a character from the human crew and misplaced it among the Lord High Commanders council: see page 7 in the scenario where the human crew escapes from Earth on the stolen alien ship, the author portrays the navigation officer on the human crew as a female human named Lieutenant Vandorrynn; then on page 53 when Major Vivian Manchester meets the Lord High Commanders council, Lieutenant Vandorrynn is an alien navigation officer on the IA starship, and the human navigation officer if somebody named Lieutenant Chaff. At that point I figured if we're only 53 pages in and mistakes this bad slipped past the editor and the author -- besides all the typographical errors -- what's the rest of the book going to be like? Let's just say as much as I like the story this kind of plot error gets on my nerves.

Yep, more typos and yet another plot error. The author can't keep the description of her character straight, confusing the eye color of Vivian's sister Violet, first saying on page 158, I think it is, that Violet had the blue eyes of their father; and then on page 225 saying Violet's eyes were like their mother's, which are supposed to be green everywhere else earlier in the book. Vivian is an amazing woman! She’s quick-witted, brave, strong, stubborn and caring. But she’s been through unimaginable horrors in the hands of the Abbaddoths. However, she’s a survivor and the scars she bears are a testament to her perseverance. Even more, I loved her determination to do everything in her power to save humanity. And she’s an absolute badass, capable of taking care of herself and never hesitating to stand up to the most powerful people. Vivian is the best and I loved her so much!
Draxor is the Lord High Commander of the Intergalactic Alliance and the leader of the Intergalactic Special Forces, responsible for keeping the peace between all known lifeforms in the Universe. He’s one strong, protective, fierce, deliciously possessive and lethal Zylonian warrior with a strict code of honor. Even more, Draxor is a powerful and charismatic leader and I absolutely adored everything about him!
I loved everything that happened between Vivian and Draxor! From the moment they met, they were so intensely attracted to each other, arousing feelings neither of them could’ve expected, and they couldn't keep their hands off each other. I loved how well those two fit together and their chemistry was fantastic. And the passionate moments they shared were so hot! And, even though for Zylonians interspecies relationships are frowned upon, I loved how they stood for one another and how they protected and craved each other. Vivian and Draxor were so perfect for each other and I couldn’t get enough of them!
In addition, the worldbuilding and the storyline were fantastic! I loved how for decades, the humans have held out against the Abbaddoths’ invasion, and despite all the horrors happening on Earth, they still endure. Even more, I’m very intrigued by the Intergalactic Alliance and all the species involved. And I loved Eryx, Garrath and, especially, Cygroth so, so much! With everything happening in the story, the preparations for a battle against the Abbaddoths’ and the unexpected turns of events, I was glued to the pages till the very end.
Overall, the story is a spectacular start of the series! It’s filled with action, danger, betrayals, suspense, twist, violence, scorching hot romance and awesome characters.
I absolutely loved every page of it and cannot wait to see what happens next!

A brilliant new series. It’s an alien romance full of action, danger, steamy scenes and more ending in a happily ever after. The characters, storyline and world building are just awesome. I highly recommend it.
Major Vivian Manchester is the commanding officer of a stolen Abbaddoth ship. Her and her crew are on a mission to find the intergalactic alliance in order to secure their help to save earth. When the Lord high commander of the alliance finds them she is relieved. She’s allowed to board his ship to talk to him. As soon as she meets Draxor their chemistry and attraction to each other is off the charts hot. He tells Vivian that they will help Earth and get rid of the Abbaddoths. When he asks questions regarding her translator and the stolen ship she gives vague answers and he knows she not telling him everything. On the way to Earth they get closer and things get very steamy. Then the the crap hits the fan. Abbaddoths manage to board the ship, there is a traitor on board and Vivian is in danger. Draxor sees red when she is held hostage but his men hold him back. Vivian doesn’t need saving because she saves herself. Now their problem is their relationship. Zylonn are not allowed to mate with other species. They must meet with the council and Vivian has a feeling she knows Draxor will be removed from his position of Lord high commander. Draxor has an ace up his sleeve though and he knows everything is going to work out fine. That is if they get back to Zylon. When they get to Earth they meet Vivian’s family but I late night swim ends in disaster when a creature the Abbaddoths left on earth tries to kill them both.

Major Vivian Manchester heard the ship’s alarms blaring as 20 ships surrounded them with weapons locked on. The humans were trying to get help for Earth to defeat the Abbaddoth enemy. Unfortunately, they had to use a stolen Abbaddoth ship to look for an ally. She focused on the largest, the flagship, Tryxion, Lord High Commander of Gwynn's main fighter ship. The stats on the crew and weapons displayed on her screen were truly intimidating. This ship alone could obliterate them, not counting all the battleships there as well. They identified the fleet as belonging to the Intergalactic Alliance, and she breathed a sigh of relief at finding what they sought.
Draxor, Lord High Commander of Gwynn, a Zylon, also headed the Intergalactic Special Forces to keep the peace among lifeforms in the universe, so Vivian was definitely in the right place to find help for Earth. Draxor was struggling with his reaction to this female. This had never happened to him before and he was struggling to concentrate and remain polite. She was intriguing! Could this be his one true mate?
I enjoyed this story and liked the characters. Only the second-in-command was unexpectedly rude to Vivian. The rest of the Lord High Commander’s crew was helpful and pleasant. Grab your copy and read the rest of their story as they head for Earth to hopefully defeat the vicious Abbaddoth attackers. Hopefully by the time they get there, Draxor will know if he has found his mate at last!

Vivian has one task and one task only. To save humans from salvery and extinction by the Abbadoth who are attacking Earth. Having already been a "guest" of theirs she has no desire to return to that position for anything so a suicide mission to get the help of the Alliance she more than happy to undertake. That is until they actually meet with an Alliance ship which is governed by the High Commander Draxor, then she has a whole other set of issues. She cannot understand how the male has such an effect on her that he short circuits her brain. Draxor himself had researched humans and yet is totally unprepared for the arrival of Major Manchester before him. Not only that but she pretty much destroys his composure which is no mean feat. There is something about her which he cannot deny even while he denies that he has actually met his fated mate. His race are not permitted to mate outside of their own either which is another obstacle in their way. The thing is until Earth is safe they cannot do much, that said there is enough unrest surrounding them both at present. If they could only concentrate..
Loved the descriptions of the alliance, the intrigue and action and I have to say Draxor's friends are hilarious and hopefully will meet their own fate soon too!

I thought the book's background was too dark.
Earth has been invaded (20 years ago) and the invading aliens forced every family to provide their youngest child to the aliens. Those kids are never seen again.
Heroine was tortured by the aliens but escaped. She is now on a mission in a stolen alien spaceship to get help for Earth by other aliens.

Heroine's sister who was taken as a 2 year old by the aliens rescued her. The sister is now a high ranking assistant to an evil alien general. The new aliens save the sister but the sister escapes the new aliens. Hero's friend decides to chase her down.
Meanwhile, heroine is the fated mate of the alien commander. He agrees to save Earth. But the Intergalactic Alliance refuses to go to war. Or help Earth. He already used his power as Commander to send ships to Earth and save them.
I don't want to read a romance novel with bad politics in it. I don't want to read how the "good" aliens refuse to help Earth.
I liked the romance between the hero and heroine but everything else was so dark that I will not read further in this series.

Humans last breath
That is what the story is about. As a last ditch effort the humans go to beg for help to the rival group of their invaders.
The fated pair meet and bam instant sparks.
Unlike earlier reviews I do not care about the juvenile body part words. Frankly I skip through 90% of the sex scenes so it dies not bother me. Only thing I dislike are me man, you woman and I can beat, humilate, verbally demean you, and make it seem like you are getting excited about abuse. This one had some conceptual power play. Hopefully not all the couple dynamics are the same.
For this power couple the story worked.
One thing I thought unnecessarily was the kraken like creature. Made no sense. Nor did the fact an advance power structure would not be able to launch guided weapons to kill them. Because eventually the animals would have to resort to cannibalism since they would kill everything in waterways, and produce so fast to support themselves. No way humans would not brainstorm solutions with good aliens to stop spread

This was an awesome read and the chemistry between the main characters was hot as and I loved it. Major Vivian Manchester is on a mission in a stolen Abbaddoths spaceship to get help from the Intergalactic Alliance to save earth and it’s people and when she meets the Lord High Military commander Draxor who she finds extremely good looking and feels drawn to him for some reason but not sure why. This is the first time Draxor meets a human and this one called Vivian is gorgeous and temps him like no other and he realises she is his mate and agrees to help her and earth. How does it all turn out between them with drama, action, suspense, danger, sabotage, intense chemistry, adventure, betrayal all coming at them from different directions.

Got Bored & Reality Check
I stopped reading this book at 30% because I got bored with the story. I tend to try to lose myself in a story/different world, but just couldn’t do it with this one.
Some of the story line made no sense to me. A people who have been fighting for over 20 years and whose population has been decimated, so there lives should be 100% about survival. Yet they still have cosmetics and waist length hair? Honestly if you are fighting for survival hair would not be waist length as it would be inhibitive and the upkeep would be tremendous. And access to cosmetics when you are fighting for survival? Yeah… no.
Insta-lust and hoping into bed asap I can overlook in these story lines. Somehow I found the hair length of the main female character and her indulgence in cosmetics she brought along on a hasty escape/rescue mission hard to swallow.

DNF - quit at 20%
Writing was awkward, characters were flat. There really wasn’t a world building to get a feel of what’s going on. I felt no connection to the story or the characters. There were 2 chapters that were nearly identical told from the guys point of view and then the next chapter from her point of view, and this is just them meeting to have a meal together, almost identical descriptions of the event, with slightly different reactions because of the different perspectives, wasted on this “meal” scene, instead of using this sort of thing for an important event. It’s hard to want to keep reading with that sort of repetitiveness. Definitely don’t want to read more from this author.
At my age (62), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

Ok. This was an action packed love story for survival of an entire species of Earth, the human race. Vivian is a major of an Earth military forces and she seeks help from the Intergalactic Alliance forces. There she meets Draxor, the Lord High Commander. Draxor is smitten with Vivian and shortly realize she is his mate. There are those who oppose his choice of mate and cause problems but also they face the enemies of Earth as well. They both fight together with their forces to save mankind and fight for their happiness with those that oppose their mating. There's so much steam, sabatoge and dangers to keep you guessing what will happen next. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Suicide mission
This story is about a group of Earthlings who go on a suicide mission to find a needle in a haystack to save Earth and what's left of its inhabitants. When everything comes together and they find what they are looking for, Vivian also finds an attraction to the High Commander she never expected. The High Commander is also attracted to Vivian as his mate. There are many complication with an interspecies mating between two different planets. However, they still need to save Earth. This story has a good plot and likable characters. The world building was good and you really became invested in the H & H. There was plenty of intrigue to keep you interested and to keep reading. Well worth reading.
