Absolutely fabulous!! Completely and totally loved this book.

I have been desperate to read it since I turned the last page of the first book and so no surprise, I read this in one sitting. I am seriously in love with the setting and it had all the wit and swoony romance I could have asked for!

First, for all you romance fans who are wondering....no, there is not another cliffhanger in this book and yes, there is a happily ever after. Lots of plot twists and turns along the way, but I am fairly confident you will be happy with the outcome because I certainly was.

There were so many laugh out loud moments and one of my favorite epilogues of all time! 😂 Loved the deeper moments as well that touched on the many ways we are affected and changed by war.

And of course we have to mention the swoony romance! Loved all the tension and chemistry, especially when...and that part when...and I can't forget when he....okay, there is so much I want to say but have to keep deleting because I don't know how to say it without spoiling anything.

Trust me, there are so many heart-melting scenes that when I go back to re-read them, I end up reading a good portion of the book again. But no complaints here!

Just know that I adored this book and if you enjoyed the first one, you MUST read this one. Heather is an auto-read author for me now and I am keeping my fingers crossed for another book featuring some great side characters from this duology.

I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.

Have you heard of The Ebony duology? I usually read stand alone novels, but some of the best series are not stand alone and make it worth it. The first novel ends at a cliff hanger and it was exciting to read towards the HEA in the second book. If you only read HEA, than you’re in luck, because the second book comes out Monday.

The author does such a wonderful job of describing the surroundings and atmosphere. There’s a lot of twists and turns that take me by surprise.

Things I loved:
-That Jane is true to who she is and finds a place for herself in the world of medicine
-the relationship James has with his crew
-while a book with serious content revolving around war, there’s so many funny moments.
-how Jane defends James in Oxford
-the side characters. I loved them all.

This is the conclusion from the first book "Charm of Saint Helena". This story picks up right where the first left off, in the middle of a battle.

Jane and James are great characters. Jane and her Uncle have continued their journey to Oxford while James remained at Saint Helena. Their story shows that love and romance are not always "smooth sailing". There are circumstances and people that come between them.

I enjoyed this story very much. I would love to see some of the secondary characters have a story of their own!

For anyone who loved the first one and has been dying to know what happens to Jane and James….this lovely sequel does not disappoint! For these two, “the course of love never did run smooth.” I loved seeing the real and raw emotions that both experienced; how their backgrounds and childhoods played a huge part in the people they became as adults. And as in the first book, the friendships! Thomas! Please, Ms. Fisher, let us have a book about Sophie and Thomas! I loved how they met. And also, Jenny! She is still one of my favorite characters in the series. But overall, it was the emotions that made me connect with these characters. James grief after battle, his love for Jane. I did wish we had more of the story told from his perspective, and that he had taken matters into his hands a little earlier. Jane, I really felt her doubt and uncertainty, as well as her joy as she found her place. I loved the faith that James and Jane had in each other, that really stood out above everything else. Loved this book!

I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Out of the Fog and it did not disappoint! I loved that we picked right up with Jane and James. Fisher doesn’t hold back any punches and right away I was wondering how and what would happen with these two being so far apart from each other. Would James get a clue? I was internally yelling at him to get a clue! I loved Jane’s resolve and positive outlook.
The emotions in this book run high and I felt like I was experiencing everything right along with them. The friends in this book are such great characters that I am hoping Fisher will write more novels with their stories. I need Thomas and Sophie! What about Jenny? And Elise and Captain Norton! There are so many possibilities…please say there will be more books to come! Out of the Fog is an excellent read and a beautiful love story. I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Such a great finish to this duology! Both books are fantastic! Since we were left with a cliffhanger Out of the Fog starts with an action packed battle at sea. It was so intense and so detailed I could see it playing in my head. The way the author describes things is so beautiful I was in awe. I felt all the emotions! Worry, anger, sadness, joy, laughter. There were many memories and jokes shared from the first book that made me smile. This book deserves all the stars!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading part two of The Ebony Duology. Book one left me on a real cliffhanger, but book two was worth the wait. The relationship between Jane and her Captain grew stronger and had more depth and this is truly a story that could not have been told in just one book. I fell in love with St. Helena all over again, but also enjoyed reading about London and Oxford. Heather Fisher is talented at making her settings an integral part of her novels, and her characters are lovable in all the best ways.

*sigh* I have been anxiously awaiting this one since reading the epilogue of Book 1 and realizing it was a duology. BUT….now that both books are out, I know exactly where Heather was going with everything and I thoroughly enjoyed both novels. They’re even better together. 😉😉 So go read both of them. Soon. As an extra little incentive, Book 1 is free during the week of Valentine’s until the 18th. Now you have no excuse. 😅 Just sayin’.

Book 2 started out with a bang and took me from one plot twist to the next. There were quite a few unexpected events that threw me for a loop, in a good way. Oh, the tension!! There’s a lot of it. If that’s your style. I adored the end and want so much more of James and Jane together. Their absolute love for each other is adorable.

Well done, Heather!! You knocked this out of the park! 👏👏👏

“My heart, mind, and soul haven’t been the same since I’ve met you, and, frankly, I dare say that I like it.”

Out of the Fog picks off right where the first book, The Ebony left off.

After the ending of the first book I was apprehensively waiting to see what would happen between Jane and James, and Out of the Fog didn’t disappoint! Jane and James were perfect for each other, but of course their timing wasn’t right. I loved how supportive James was in encouraging Jane to chase after her dreams to become a midwife, especially when it wasn’t the norm for the time period. With romance novels it's always about the journey. Sometimes through this journey I would scream out in frustration (I really thought James might have been neglecting his letter writing), but it was worth it in the end to Jane and James reunited.

The only negative thing I have to say is that the wait felt so long between books ;).

I would encourage anyone who enjoys historic romance to pick this Duology up! The first book is currently available on kindle unlimited and now that Out of the Fog is out, you won’t have to suffer like I did waiting for the conclusion.

Thank you so much to Heather Fisher for providing a free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

If you read The Ebony: The Spirit of St. Helena, then you understand the cliffhanger that we were left with and how much we all were dying to be “out of the fog”. Book 2 started in the mist of that fog and led us out into the light.

I loved the beginning where we could see James and Jane interacting as winded sailor and “doctor.” When she finally made it back to London I was feeling her pain as the days turned into months without news from James. Normally, I love the way an author makes us feel the passage of time, but in this book I was dying! I kept thinking of that IG song, “let’s skip to the good parts”. 😄 But like life, we can’t always do that.

This duology was fantastic and I can totally see it in my head as a full-length film. Thank you Heather for writing it and I cannot wait for future books!

Just finished this one and my, oh my! This is book two of the Ebony Series, and it picks up right where the first left off in a cliffhanger.

Captain McCannon and Lieutenant Thomas find themselves in the midst of a fierce sea battle between two French frigates. Hoping the element of surprise will ensure their survival, they take the risky position of direct fire in extremely close quarters. Just as all hope seems lost, Captain Norton comes to their aid. Damages are great and losses are high, not everyone survives and some are gravely injured.

The islanders are stunned when the news hits and the injured begin to arrive. Jane takes immediate action to help her uncle saves lives. Little does she know, her greatest test of skill will be her beloved James.

I don’t want to say too much and ruin the story, but hard decisions must be made concerning the future for James and Jane. The first part of the book deals with the aftermath of the battle and recovery. Then Jane’s uncle must continue his journey to Oxford. And Jane must follow. She must have faith that the bond she and James have formed is strong enough to stand the tests of time, distance and “ne’er do wells” who are determined to keep them apart. But it proves far more difficult than she ever imagined.

I nearly lost hope myself, but that ending was spectacular! Almost fairy tale worthy!

You must read book 1 to get the whole story and satisfaction.

After a cliffhanger for the last book this continuing story was very much anticipated! Hooray!!!! James and Jane get their conclusion!

I really enjoyed this book. The battle scenes, an inside look at the hospital and surgeries, Midwife visits, plus some Society functions. It was a great mix!

James and Jane are separated for a decent amount of this book but that made their reunion all the sweeter. And I was so happy their “misunderstanding” was quickly cleared up and they could move on together. (Such lovely last couple of chapters and epilogue!)

Side note: when Lord Evans arrived on the scene I was very torn! He was wonderful! I would love for him to find his perfect match lol.
Along with Sophie, Thomas, Jenny, and Elaine… now I want stories for EVERYONE! 😂

I liked both of these books so much! The variety of settings and situations was really great and kept you super invested. And of course the sweet building love story was a win! I would definitely recommend.

I received an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was so thankful that I had this next book to read after I had finished the first one, as book one had totally left you on a cliff hanger.

I have loved this story of James and Jane from the very beginning. They were so supportive of each other in their dreams and wanted the other to pursue them.

The friends in this story are just as endearing as James and Jane. They help you to see all sides of both James and Jane. They help us to see the best in all of them. They also help James and Jane to realize that they truly do care for each other.

Heather Fisher has done a fantastic job on writing a story that makes you feel like you are truly there and part of what is going on. You can so easily get lost in the book, which is not a bad thing. I am excited to see what other books she writes and to be able to enjoy those stories as well.

Highly recommend reading this book. But it is one that needs to be read in order so start with The Ebony: The Secret of Saint Helena.

After being completely hooked by The Ebony (book one), I have been much anticipating this conclusion. This duology was such a delight to read and I loved the way the story was so original and characters unique. The writing was extremely well-done and the story just pulled me right in and held my attention until the end.
I liked that this book did not go the way I had expected when I picked it up. It had some twists, but the romance was still strong and I definitely was cheering for Jane and James the whole time. I really hope that there is a spin-off where we see Thomas and Sophie.
A clean romance with some great action on the high seas. I definitely recommend this book and duology. This does need to be read in order as book one is a cliffhanger where this one picks up.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

James and Jane are back and I am here for it!! This book was a great follow-up to the first and definitely worth reading!!

This book I actually laughed out loud while reading, which truly doesn’t happen very often. I will smile or smirk, but usually the laughing is done internally. But the scene with Thomas and the letter (when you read it, you will know) was so funny, I was just dying!!

I admit I was a tiny bit nervous about Jane being in London and Lord Evans, because I am a die hard James fan here (hello major muscles 😍).

The only thing I would have is more Jane and James together time, but that’s me being selfish and wanting more of their dreamy moments together. 😉

Two thumbs way up to Heather Fisher, I expect a third book dedicated to Thomas!! 😁

Where do I start? With the cliffhanger epilogue at the end of The Ebony, this book was a highly anticipated read for me. I had fallen in love with Jane and James in The Ebony and my love only grew for them in this next book. This story definitely doesn't leave you wanting, but begins with a bang and keeps you hooked through the end. I truly enjoyed seeing Jane and James devotion to each other shine throughout this story. And the end was just perfect! I truly can't wait for more from this author, for I have a feeling they will be quickly devoured and added to my favorites shelf. Highly recommend, but definitely read The Ebony first!

I was provided an ARC for am unbiased review, all opinions and thoughts are entirely my own.

This book picks up right where “The Ebony: Charm of Saint Helena” left off.

Uncle Brown needs to leave for Oxford, but Jane is torn and really doesn’t want to go. James is unable to go with her and encourages her to go so that she can achieve her desire of being a midwife. With a promise to write, Jane makes the journey. However, months pass with no word from James. Insecurities and doubt start to run rampant for both of them. With a suspension of what has been happening to his letters, James rushes to London in the hopes that he isn’t too late to win Jane’s affection.

It would be cool if we got more books that focused on Elaine and Richard’s story, Thomas and Sophie’s story, and a story that has Jenny finding her happily ever after.

A swoon worthy romance that is clean, inspirational, and humorous! I absolutely loved this story, all the characters, and the beautiful places we get to visit! Author Heather Fisher created a perfect balance of so many sweet moments and so many comical ones as we followed the hero and heroine through trials and adventures. I absolutely loved the Saint Helena’s setting and the Jane Austen style season balls in London and Oxford. I really enjoyed Heather Fisher’s fun, witty dialogue and banter between friends! This is such a fun read!!!

This book was very entertaining. It had lots of humor (Lady Griftson was so much fun), plenty of action and the perfect amount of romance. I especially loved the parts about midwifery in that era it was fascinating to read about!
I was so glad to get back to the story after the cliffhanger ending from the first book- it was worth the wait.
I will be following this author and reading her books in the future.

I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed watching Jane become a midwife and the journey she had learning and growing in that adventure. This book was more of a slower pace than the first. There were a couple of times I got a little inpatient but I never got bored and I wanted to keep reading..
The ending was pretty good and I like that it closes but has an opening for another. I would like to know what happens to a few people and I would love a book on the Captains best friend.

I feel the same about this book as I did about the first. Overall frustrated at both the book and honestly myself for not liking it as much as I hoped I would.
The romance between Jane and James was super sweet.
Again, the side characters were fun.
The basic plot was okay, and the last few chapters really saved this book for me.
In the end, while not my favorite, I am glad I did read it and would try out another book by this author if she wrote about some of the side characters.

After the cliffhanger ending of the first book, I was anxious to start this book and find out what happened next! The first part of the story was really intense and I loved how it all played out!

I like James and Jane, and I was cheering for them throughout the story, hoping things would work out for them. I have to admit that Thomas stole the show for me a little though! I laughed out loud during the parts he was in, and I loved his friendship with James.

I enjoyed the medical aspect of this book; Jane is a strong character and it was great to see her learn and grow in her chosen profession. I was hoping for a little more romance, but the romantic parts that were in the book were so beautifully written! James has a wonderful way with words and I highlighted many of his lines to reread later.

I’m looking forward to reading more books by Heather Fisher in the future!

If you love regency romances, I cannot recommend this duology enough. It is the definition of a comfort read for me. It has:

•a different setting for book one and two but maintains all the things I loved about the first
•a strong female heroine
•a daring male hero
•some great side characters
•slow burn, swoony romance
•ALL THE FEELS

James and Jane hold a very special place in my heart and I will return to their story often. I think the beauty of reading is sometimes books come to you when you need them in a season of life. These two were just what I needed to go back to a simpler time when life got crazy and I wanted a break.
