The Glorious by Allison Rose is Book 2.5 in the Light of Faerie series. This is the back story of Shayna, The Glorious. We learn about her and what made her the way she is. This gives us insight and a better understanding into her actions at the end of Capture the Sky. Excellent read. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.

The Glorious follows the story of Shayna, the ruler of the Day Court, and her actions leading up to the ending of Capture the Sky (book two).

I loved getting to see Shayna in this light, and understanding what happened to make her the way she was. I didn't see her as a villain in this book, and after reading this story, it was easy to understand her motives for doing what she did. The author gave us a great origin story for her, and gave us insight to better understand the full impact of what happened at the end of book two.

You would need to read the second book in the series to get the full impact of this novella, but you won't be disappointed.

The story follows the story of Shayna, the ruler of the Day court.

I want to just start out by saying this was a great idea to write this side of the storyline as a side area. Seeing Shayna, who is the Glorious and seeing what she thought and did behind the scenes of book one and two was great.

Seeing some of the workings she did behind the scenes help being new things to light in the main series. I can't wait to read more of this story line

I keep forgetting that "Glorious" is a nickname, so that confused me for a bit throughout. I understand her a bit better now, but still do not like her. Cannot wait to read the next book!

There are two sides to every story

After reading and enjoying Capture The Sky, Book 2 in the Light of Faerie series, I picked up the companion novella The Glorious to see the same story from the villain’s point of view… and it did not disappoint!

Shayna, known to her people as The Glorious, is struggling to maintain her hold over the Court of the Day. With both Sevelle and Jae causing more trouble than she can keep up with, Shayna must find a way to crush the rising threats to her power and regain control over her side of Faerie.

Although this was a short read, I really enjoyed seeing the events of Capture The Sky from a different perspective. More details are revealed in Shayna’s story that explain many of her choices and actions in the main series. A good villain is one whose motives you can understand and even sympathize with, and I think the author does a great job of humanizing The Glorious in this novella!

Overall, this side story is an excellent addition to the Light of Faerie series and a special treat for avid fans of the author’s faerie world. I can’t wait to see how Shayna’s story continues in a future novella!

This book gives more insight into who Shayna (the Glorious) really is and the lengths she will go to hold on to the power she has.

I enjoy Allison’s vivid imagination as she paints the Faerie Realm and the conflicts therein as they mirror our own human realm! Power and the greed for more power is apparent in both realms!

I recommend you get Allison’s books and let her books carry you away to a new world where the inhabitants are much like we are. You will see many parallels as you read these stories! You need to get the first two books (Fly Free and Capture the Sky) as well as this one and read them before starting on this one. The journey is so worth it!

I look forward to the next book in this series to see how everyone copes with this new power Shayna has taken as her own!
