It's said that your future can be foretold in the tea leaves at the bottom of your cup...
But when the tarot cards warn of murder, is it a warning? Or a threat?
April May has turned her tearoom into a psychic fair for the day. It's all in fun, with locals trying their hand at palmreading and crystal ball gazing. April is baking up plenty of flaky scones and buttery shortbread, and learning to read tea leaves from a book she found in the attic.
Everything is going as smoothly as melted butter until someone ends up dead. This time, there are so many suspects, April has to reach out for help in unexpected places.
Karen Sue Walker is a lover of cozy mysteries, from Agatha Christie to Joanne Fluke. When not working or writing, she spends time with her very talented daughter and ever so fun granddaughter.
This was another fun and entertaining cozy mystery with April May and her lovable friends. This one featured castles, mystics and “ psychics” that were great backdrops for the murder mystery. There were a couple of twists along the way. A new sheriff in town definitely next to you along the way. It was such an engaging and easy read with quite a few moments of suspense and action along the way. The ending did feel a tad abrupt, but I am guessing that storyline will play out in future books. Other than that I throughly enjoyed myself while reading it.

This is the fourth book in the cosy mystery series set in a haunted tearoom in Serenity Cove. April May opened the tearoom after buying the Victorian property earlier that year. Since then, there's been a spate of murders in the area, and April has helped solve every one.
Then there is the resident ghost who lives in the kitchen, he teaches her how to cook. Chef Emile was the chef at the restaurant, which was the previous use for the house. He is still there, albeit he died many years before. April is the only one who can see or hear his ghostly form.
To help increase trade during the slower months, April comes up with the idea of putting on a psychic fair. The Amazing Kaslov, who lives locally, was to be the star of the show, but someone decided his life was to end; but why? Who will end up in jail for his death?
Each book in this series gets better, although I found this one a bit slow going until the middle. The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
Tea is for Tarot is the 4th book in the A Haunted Tearoom Cozy Mysteries series. It is an enjoyable book. The characters and their friendships make this book and series special! April May owns a Tearoom. April's friends include Jennifer who is her assistant, Irma who owns a nearby restaurant and Freddie who is a doctor and the Coroner. April is hosting a Psychic Fair at the tearoom. Someone ends up dead and Freddie's mom is a suspect. Several of the people attending are also suspects. I guessed who the culprit was but wasn't sure until the end. April's handyman Mark makes an appearance towards the end but it is brief. This is an enjoyable paranormal cozy mystery but I liked the other 3 books better. #TeaIsForTarot. #AHauntedTearoomCozyMystery
They just keep getting better and better! Ms. Walker has done it again. The familiar faces are back along with some new ones that will hopefully stick around. Just as you'd expect from one of Ms. Walker's books the writing is smooth, the plot is involved but easy to follow and the character interactions are natural and unstilted. There are plenty of red herrings and twists and turns to keep your interest, but the final twist is totally unexpected. See if you can guess whodunnit before the end. Anyone who enjoys great writing, a few ghosts and a little snark (thank you Irma) in their mysteries will love this book. I certainly did.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Unlikely Culprit April May has turned her tea room into a psychic fair for the day. It's all in fun, with locals trying their hand at palm reading and crystal ball gazing. April is baking up plenty of flaky scones and buttery shortbread, and learning to read tea leaves from a book she found in the attic. Everything is going as smoothly as melted butter until someone ends up dead. This time, there are so many suspects, April has to reach out for help in unexpected places. There was an unlikely culprit in this case. The daughter of the resident ghost was unhinged. Along with the help of the housekeeper she killed a man. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.
Initially I was a bit put off by the title, but Karen Sue Walker has done an excellent job of focusing on the mystery over the mystical in the rest of this series, so I went ahead and read it.
I'm glad I did.
April May is trying something new for her tearoom; it doesn't go as smoothly as planned. An impersonator ends up dead, with the suspects many and varied as the story continues. All of the familiar characters make an appearance, along with a couple of new (hopefully sticking around) people. I was kept guessing until the end, which was great.
April May is a having an occult party in her tea shop and murder ruins the afternoon. When an earring implicates the mother of one of her friends, April May starts investigating. When the dead man turns out to be an imposter, more suspects turn up. A reclusive magician, a haunted castle, and another ghost add interest to the story. Between an engaging mystery and April May‘s relationship with her ghostly chef in the kitchen, I can’t get enough of this series. I’m sorry I have to wait so long for the next installment.
This was my least favorite in the series so far. I fous. It easy to tell who thé murder was . The biggest let down was the rushed way the novel ended. How they reached April was a bit over the top and far fetched. Also there is no explanation or reason for the girls nanny to be so accustomed to murder or why she would even help the girl in the first place. Love the series so far but this one was slightly a let down,

I received this book as an ARC and am so glad I did. This latest story in this series is excellent. With some new, interesting characters thrown in with the now familiar ones, mystery, drama and an inkling of romance, it kept me highly entertained from beginning to end. I highly recommend it. Can’t wait to read more in this series.
April May is turning her SereniTea tearoom into a psychic fair for the day. Expecting friends and hopefully lots of visitors she is eagerly awaiting the day. But what she doesn’t expect is a murder. There is mystery, tea and danger ahead for April May and her friends. Oh, and good recipes too! I received an early copy from the author. This review is my own opinion.
Ms. Walker has added another well written and enjoyable mystery story to her Haunted Tea room Mystery series. While April solves another murder, we are introduced to a few new characters and learn more about the series main characters. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
I have mixed feelings after finishing Tea is for Tarot. On the one hand I loved it, on the other June 14th for the next book - Tea is for Traitor - to be released seems a really long way off. I for one need more Chef Emile! We've had snippets of his story but I need more!!
I enjoyed this cozy mystery. It was a change from the sort of books I typically read, but I still found it heartwarming & I loved the recipes at the end of it. I especially liked the cat Whisk & his mischievous antics & the handsome dead French chef that no one else can see that gives the heroine cooking lessons. I read this book on Kindle.
I really enjoyed this story. April May started out a little difficult to like. But she's softened up and became so much more likeable. I'm looking forward to reading the next story.
I am enjoying this series and this entry is very enjoyable. April May has turned the tea room into a psychic fair for the day. It's all fun and games until a dead stranger is discovered. An excellent mystery with all the usual characters and a new ghost to meet.
I recommend to cozy mystery readers. I enjoy the thought of having a tea house or bed and breakfast as both are very good settings for mysteries. And I like the ghosts.
A psychic fair ends up with a Murder. A man from the past and his mysterious family. Plus where in the world is Mark? Another fun filled mystery with the haunted tea, room, a snarky, restaurant, owner, and a a doctor, too smart for her own good.
This is an engaging unique mystery set in a delightful seaside community with loving cherry characters. After happening upon book #1 in the series I couldn't stop reading. Can't wait to read the next one.
There were lots of twists and turns in this one. The mystery part of the story was really good. The romance part is a work in progress. We will see what happens in the next one.
Intriguing cozy with plenty of mystery, suspense and scrumptious food, tea and just a hint of romance; now throw in a ghost. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and think you will, too.
It's a wonderful story about our heroine and all the case plus some more. Very interesting an educational about tarot. The ending is unpredictable. Well written as always. I will read more.
What could go wrong with that combination? A fun event goes horribly wrong and the tea room owner must discover who caused the demise of one of the events attendees.
