I Have Lived Before: The True Story of the Reincarnation of Shanti Devi

Rate this book
The most thoroughly documented and authenticated case of reincarnation in modern times! This was NOT a case obtained through the use of hypnosis or any other means. Shanti Devi also reveals the extremely vivid memories of her experiences after Death, the period between her lives, and the return to a physical body! Even Mahatma Gandhi became involved and encouraged examination of the case.

I'm not sure why this story never get more attention? If this, is indeed true, it seems everyone should be aware of it. The author himself was a science fiction writer in addition to being a journalist which may evoke L. Ron Hubbard comparisons but there evidently was an independent tribunal which verified Shanti Devi's story. The one thing that is confusing to me, however, is that the story that the author of this book told about Shanti Devi's interim period between death and reincarnation is inconsistent with what I read here:

In any case, whether you believe or not, there were a few concepts empasized that are worthwhile reminders: 1) All human beings are connected with each other - in life and death, 2) there are fundamental truths which which unite all religions and 3) the thoughts we have today characterize our destiny always.

I'm not really sure how to react to this phenomenal reincarnation story of Lubdi Devi - Shanti Devi. But I feel more people should read this book. 5/5. It was really hard to find the actual book, but I found a copy of it on Internet archive public library. I was able to borrow the book and read it. I highly recommend this book.

This is one of my favorite books in general and about the reincarnation in particular. I have read it several times and I plan to read it again for a deeper understanding. I lent this book to at least 6-7 of my friends and most of them really liked the book.

Interesting story about reincarnation certified by M.K Gandhi himself. Faith in Lord Krishna(Shanti Devi), her experiences in Delhi/Mathura and unexplainable by our rational skeptical materialist science and normal thinking.

Amazing. Eye opening. Life changing. For me anyway. Don't judge it until you've read it.

Since adolescence, I have had internal questions that I did not have answers to and was afraid to ask anyone: 🧐
1. What will happen when I die? Will there just be complete darkness and silence, and will I cease to exist, living in that darkness forever?
2. Will I go to heaven or hell, and what then? Will I stay there forever? P.S. Obviously, I'm aiming for heaven 😇
3. Will my soul be reborn in the body of a baby in any country (I wouldn't want to be in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, where women are cheaper than goats and are married off at the age of 10 to 40-year-old men, or in Africa, where female genital mutilation is practiced😢) and live on forever?
Point 3 suited my inner self! 👏
And then the following important question arose🧐:
Why can't we remember our previous lives? Where did we live? Who were we? What did we do? What didn't we do?
And VOILA (from French, meaning "here it is") after decades of my life, quite by accident, Reda Pastarnokaitė (I will be forever grateful to you for this recommendation) lent me Sture Lonnerstrand's book Shanti Devi, which answers my inner questions that have been tormenting me for a long time! 🥳
I quote from page 14. "So, at first, both worlds seemed to merge into one for her. Oh, what pain it was, what endless turmoil of the soul! But now she sees everything more and more clearly."
I highly recommend this book!
