Sam What if I hadn’t left her standing on the porch steps? What if I asked her to come with me? What if I told her I’d follow her? What if I gave long-distance a chance? What if I kept my forever wrapped in my arms and did anything I could to keep her there?
Eight years of “what if,” “maybe we could have made it,” and “why didn’t I try” haunt me daily. Eight years ago, I did the noble thing and pushed Brooke to follow her dreams. Now I spend hours every day looking for her in the crowds. Every time I board a plane, I search for her and hope that someday fate will bring us together the way I promised her it would. I regretted my decision to walk away from her as soon as I did it. I knew it was the only way she’d chase her dreams. I didn’t want to be why she didn’t live the life she dreamed about, and I didn’t want her to resent me.
Brooke I watched Sam walk away. I waited for him to turn around and change his mind. I waited for him to come back for me, but he didn’t. I did what he told me to do. I chased my dreams, and now when I go back to Blossom Springs, I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if he turned around that day and looked back at me. He promised that one day fate would bring us together. I search airports, restaurants, and crowded streets, looking for him, and hope that he’s doing the same.
Their paths cross in the most unexpected place: their hometown, a place both of them avoid. Sam hopes that the sparks that fly between them last more than the week they’re both in town, but Brooke doesn’t want to talk about more than just the week because she’s never believed in forever and refuses to say the word or make plans that might lead toward the four-word question, two-word promise, and ring that comes with those things.

JLynn Autumn is a part-time writer who dreams of the day she can be a full-time writer. She’s a lifelong bookworm. She’s a reader, a writer, and an advocate. She’s passionate about social justice, education reform, and special education service equity. She is married to her “game changer.” The man who showed her that being made a priority and treated with respect should be the standard not the exception. They have one daughter, who is sassy, bossy, opinionated, and keeps them on their toes. JLynn Autumn thinks coffee is a magic liquid that brings her to life most mornings; pizza and tacos should be their own food group; late nights are always better than early mornings; houseplants are a waste of space and will always be forgotten about and die; and that poodles and poodle mixes are the best pets. She’s a huge fan of snark, sarcasm, and happily ever after in real life and in books.
This was a great second chance romance. It’s a favorite trope of mine when it’s done right and this was. Sam and Brooke’s story really touched my heart and I just wanted it to go on forever. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the Forever series will be like.
I’m so torn on 3 or 4 so I’ll star it 4 and give it 3.5 This is a SUPER cute story. I had a hunch early on how they were going to reconnect and got a little giddy when I was right. These characters are great for each other and their love is so sweet. My issue came in the repetitiveness of “let’s get through this week and see”, “I don’t do forever”, and all the 8 years, 8 years, 8 years. 🙄 I get it. It’s too short for how many times I continuously read those same three thoughts. Had some of that repetitiveness been cleaned up I probably could’ve given this book a solid 5, because it was otherwise amazing.
Such a great love story between the 2 main characters. It had me cry in a couple chapters but it also made me smile in others. This a great book to read if you're a first timer or if you love cute romance books.
