Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound.
She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.

Bought this one because someone mistakenly tagged this as having a virgin heroine. Unfortunately it was a mis-shelve. the heroine had given her body and innocence to another and I have zero interest in a romance where the connection and bond that comes from giving the hero the primal satisfaction in claiming those gifts for himself has been severed by a stupid heroine spreading her legs for another man to crawl between and break her in, taking what should have been given to the hero. No thanks, DNF and return for full refund.

I like BBW books only when the woman has some actual sense of self worth, these repeat stories about man loving the BBW then being forced to cruelly push her away because of some asinine reason(which ends up happening anyway) is horrible and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Just because you find out that someone you trusted(loved) used something that they knew would cause irreparable damage to your psyche to push you away, for "nobel reasons" does not make that hurt disappear.
Two stars are for the sole reason that the dude didn't bang any other chick during this "separation", though he did unknown to her, put cameras in her apartment and watch her break down on several occasions because of his words (not something I would have EVER forgiven)
I mean it's not like he could've trusted the little woman with this stupid secret and pretended to separate instead of calling her a fat looser.

She offered him a smile and he nearly fucking melted on the spot. He had never seen Maddie smile for real, and it was so fucking precious. It seemed to light up her whole face.

Read 2: still really loved the book and since I knew the harsh words and breakup were coming they didn’t hurt quite as much as the first time I read it which was nice. Staying on that re-read list when I need a good freeze out and grovel book.

I loved this! Even though it was really rough and just fucked me up. He has to break up with her to protect her but does he have to do it in the most hurtful, despicable way possible? The thing that I loved was that she didn't just roll over and forgive him, she makes him pay. It definitely had a good grovel. I just plane loved it, the characters, the story, all of it.

The only warning that I have is that there is some animal abuse. Not done by any of the MCs but by the bad guys. There is a dog fighting ring and the MCs try to put a stop to it. It was ALMOST too much for me but I'm really sensitive to that. I made it through the because I enjoyed the story so much.

I highly recommend this read.

I don't know.. I just didn't connect fully with this.

The hero was actually sweet and persistent, the *thing* that he did that he needed to grovel kinda made sense too, and as you get his pov, you knew straight away he absolutely hated what he was doing. But he did hit it where it hurt.. like yeah..

The heroines lack of self worth till the very end was kinda hard..also for me, this was focused a touch too much on her weight. I know it was meant in a positive light but I just didn't feel *positive* after reading.

The couple: Bull and Maddie

Romance genre: MC; romantic suspense
Series: Chaos and Carnage
Length: 320 pages

Grovel: words 4/5; actions 4/5 (a scene in the diner towards the end combined the two very nicely I thought)

Plot: Maddie is down on her luck. She's had a string of bad dates and now needs to find a new job. While searching through the want ads at the diner, she runs into Bull, who is both the older brother of her high school bully and the president of the local motorcycle club. He offers her a job, and while Maddie doesn't know if it's wise to accept, she really needs the chance to get ahead. But once Maddie comes to work for him, Bull begins pressing his suit. He really wants Maddie, and that's not something he's ever experienced. Maddie, however, has deep-seated insecurities left from her parent's ill-treatment of her. She doesn't believe Bull's attention will last. Will she be right?

Commentary: I love the way Bull loved Maddie. This was a stereotypical "pushing you away to keep you say" trope, but when it came time to win her back, he was willing to do whatever was necessary , and this was coming from a man that didn't normally chase a woman, much less upend his life for her. Even her high school bully redeemed himself. Good story!

The relationships amongst the club brothers allowed for some funny exchanges that I don't generally see in this author's work - I enjoyed it!:
“Look, brother, you’re old, but you clearly don’t know how to go chasing what you want.”
“I’m not going to take dating advice from a brother who thinks getting crabs is a weekend of fun.” Rusty sighed. “When are you going to let me live that down?”
“You’re not, ever. It’s gross.”

Ugh, this book was unnecessarily long. Why is it that the plus size women always are some kind of underachiever in these books? Okay they usually have no ambitions and are living day by day wallowing in something. While I get that the author was trying to show severe emotional child abuse, I felt like this chick was always involved in a lot of volunteer or community participation things and she was 30(!), so why wasn’t she over this?? Also, how do you not know you are still a virgin?!? I was left wondering who is this book written for, an idiot or a 12 year old??

On top of that, this book was too long and boring to end up with a whole lot of nothing. This story was an extended watered down rehash of every other MC/over weight FMC book this author has ever written to date. There was nothing new here. No emotional impact or growth here. No interesting conflict or villain. No stimulating s e x scenes. They were actually lukewarm at best or for young adults boring at worst. The dialogue was inane for the most part or straight pointless. The author also wrote too many sentences in three different ways back to back throughout the book. It was like I was reading a skipping record. I can’t describe it any better than that. Smdh.

I really wanted to like this book. I spent the last five days opening and closing this book. I had no desire to read something else, so I wasn’t struggling in that sense, but I was definitely not caught in the story like I should have been. The author failed in her job of engaging her reader. Good luck.

an emotional read

So I started reading this and wasn't sure I could stick with it in the beginning but was glad that I did. There is a beautiful message towards the end of the book and it made me cry...not just as a plus size person who had been bullied but for every one else who has too.
I did not think Bull could redeem himself and the part where I think he did wasn't a traditional grovel. However, this book I think is one of my new favorites and a fantastic read

2.5 stars not my favorite of Sam Crescent's books. Maddie has a lot of body image issues, really to the point of needing extensive therapy. I don't enjoy books where the h is so completely down on themselves and their self esteem is non existent. Bull is the head of the MC and has wanted Maddie for awhile. He has an uphill battle in convincing her that she is worthy of love and beautiful. Bull finds himself in the middle of a turf war with a violent cartel and breaks up with Maddie in the most brutal of ways, hitting her right in those insecurities, in a ploy to protect him but really he breaks her. I found the storyline went on a bit too long and Maddie's self esteem issues are never really addressed the way they need too. The h needs therapy and to move away from the town that has hurt her for years, not a boyfriend.

Different

I am a lover of this specific trope and I love Sam Crescent but this book felt different…

This book dragged, needed serious proofreading, and was about 40 pages too long. While I was reading, I forgot who the author was. I assumed it was a newbie author and just never checked. After skimming through chunks of the book to the end because it just wasn’t bearable, I saw that it was Sam Crescent. Color me surprised! I love Sam Crescent. In my mind, Sam is one of my top curvy girl authors but this felt like an aspiring writer’s book pulled from Wattpad. It just wasn’t that great.

What I liked: I liked how strong Maddie the heroine was. After everything she goes through she still gets back up and does what she has to do to survive. I just wished she made Bull(H) suffer and grovel more. I also liked how Bull took care of the men that beat her, I just wished someone would of beat the shit out of him :/

What I didn’t like: I don’t know why this author always makes her heroine suffer so much. Here is a list poor Maddie deals with 1. A childhood that’s terrible because her “mom” would call her fat and ugly 2. She was bully in school by Bull’s brother and the towns people 3. She gets beat up while taking care of the dogs and has multiple bones broken. 4. Bull humiliates her in public (going as far as telling people she was virgin which I don’t know why he had to go and say that, it was bad enough that he called her chubby/fat) and of course he has to call her fat when he knows that is what her mom. 5. Lastly, she gets kidnapped and tortured even though that is exactly the reason why Bull did what he did so she wouldn’t get hurt, so it was basically all for nothing. Does this author not like her heroines or what?? Hell if you are going to make her suffer well it’s only far to make the Hero suffer just as much plus more.

How hot was it: 3 out 5

Details/Triggers: h is heavy and believes she is ugly due to her “mom” and kids at school who bullied her (one of those bullies being the H’s brother). She tries going out on dates but they become a no show. During one of those “no show” dates the H sees her upset. H, who is the president of a MC, has had a crush on the h but kept his distance. Finally he decides to take a chance when she is let go of her job. H gives her a job and tells her that he would like to teach her how to date. Later, he confesses that he likes her. h gets beat up while taking care of the dogs that were rescued from dog fighting and the H takes her to his house to nurse her back to health (H also finds the men that beat her and kills them). He then tells her landlord that she won’t be needing the place, making her homeless so she will have to stay with him. When the doctor gives her a clean bill of health they take their relationship all the way finding that she was a virgin. H and h start having a great relationship until a bad man wants to take over his club. The man already got to other guys brother and killed him so H knows that he will go after the h. To keep her safe(which didn’t work) decides to avoid and finally tells her in front of everyone at the diner that he is done with her, that he doesn’t want to be with someone who is fat and proceeds to tell them that she was virgin and that she is free for the taking. h devastated starts crying and the owner and her husband of the diner takes her in and kicks the MC out (later we find out that they are actually her real parents). h starts to go to the gym and works at the diner. H’s brother pretends to get kicked out of the club so he can keep and eye on the h for the H. H also sets up cameras in her place. Unfortunately, the H doing what he did was a waste because the h is taken and hurt by the bad guy. H comes and saves her. H makes a grand gesture at the diner. HEA

Final thoughts: This was just an ok book. I think I will take a break from this author and read books that aren’t so harsh on the heroine of the story. I probably would have enjoyed this better if I didn’t just read a book where the author hated her heroine too.

Maddie was so damaged by her mother growing up telling her daily how fat and ugly that she was that it broke my heart. She had zero self esteem so when she got stood up by a couple of dates because of her weight she really had zilch self esteem. She was very self critical to everyone.

When the hero had to push her away to protect her he played on her weight issues which really sucked. It hurt my heart to read it. It made me hate the hero. I know he was trying to protect her but the words he used were too harsh.

This being said I still loved the story. It was a bit more drawn out and slow burn then Sam Crescent books normally are. At least it felt that way to me. That being said the spice when it finally happened was pretty spicy. I would have liked spice a bit sooner. Also the surprise virginity still intact was ridiculous. What kind of woman thinks she's lost her virginity but hasn't? It's just weird~! Yes I posted a spoiler because it was too stupid not to talk about. Maddie was just oblivious.

I love Sam Crescent books and this one was no exception. It is a bit of a slower burn but Maddie was a likeable heroine. As I said the hero was not my favorite because of the way he pushed her away. I refuse to say his name but it starts with a B.

Read it. Love it. Give me some recommendations on new Sam Crescent books. I love her approach of using plus sized heroines in her stories!

Wow!!! This was an amazing read. This book for me was about healing, low self-esteem and beauty within yourself. Maddie had a problem with all of this. It didn't help that at some point the hero and his brother made it worse. My heart just broke for Maddie and what she had to go through.

I loved the grovel, it was just enough. It was not overly done but the heroine made him work for her love again.

Absolutely loved this book.

I wanted to get past his words to the h but I couldn't. He could of picked any other way to push her away but he chose the one thing she was ridiculed her whole life about. He was way harsher then he needed to be and I just didn't forgive him.

Chaos and Carnage - Size Matters - Sam Crescent

This is the first in a brand new MC series, a theme that this author writes so well each and every time.
Bull is amazing, definitely a favourite book boyfriend for his love, super sexiness, patience and care he wants to share with the beautiful Maddie. Maddie is constantly viewed by the size of her body not that of her heart or kindness, that is until Bull. She suffers from a lack of body positivity and thinking she is good enough because of the actions of so many from her past. That all changes when Bull comes along. He wants Maddie to see herself as he sees her. Perfect to him. Until a threat comes to Carnage and Bull does the unthinkable, pushes her away by saying words that Bull nor Maddie or you as thr reader ever thought he would utter. It's a total 180 and in the moment I was outraged for Maddie, but once you calm down you know it isn't the real Bull we have seen throughout and there is a reason he is being so vile even though that does not excuse it and I really wish he hadn't done what he did, ge does it all with the hope of keeping her safe. Its a truly heartbreaking moment and the only time I'm deeply disappointed in Bull and wanted to punch him myself. However as the story progresses we learn the reasoning and the truth as does Maddie. I think she should of made him grovel a lot more, and not forgiven him so quickly but in the end Maddie realises how much Bull does actually love her which is a beautiful moment. This story was an emotional roller coaster throughout, and completely heartbreaking at times, with possible triggers for some readers. There is body imaging issues that the heroine is constantly trying to deal with , fat shaming, dog fighting situations with animal abuse. But if you can read this it is a well written book with great characters and little twists and turns along the way that keep you guessing. I loved that it was a longer story by this author, something you could really sink your teeth into and get lost in as always with a guaranteed happily ever after. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book in this series, will Grant grow up and have his story told? Will Pat get his happily ever after? Is William Ranford a possible lead in a spin off series about the crime boss in the big city? Even Jase from the Gym could have a potential storyline. There are so many possibilities and I for one cannot wait but I would especially like to see more of Bull and Maddie, that would be perfect. Maybe they could have a catch up novella, or Christmas special where we see Bull and Maddie without the lies and hurt and Bull treating Maddie as he always intended, his queen with no doubt ever about his feelings for her, or how much he loves her just as she is, now that would be perfect. Happy Reading.

What I expected to find in this book : Hot plot and sexy characters. What I found instead? Exactly that plus life lessons.

Curvy women. I haven't read them before in a book. Not because books like that don't exist but because I was not choosing them to read.
I have nothing against them of course. Beauty comes in every size ♥️.

I don't remember how I found this book. I only remember that I saw it from someone here on Instagram. Whoever this person was..thank you.

Ok..enough with the introduction. The girl that got my attention is Maddie. She's a curvy girl that has so many insecurities. And she didn't just wake up one day having them. No. Twisted people in her life gave them to her wholeheartedly with their sick behaviour.

Maddie is a very sweet woman. Soft. Caring. Usually I'm not fan of soft women because in my eyes they're weak. But with Maddie I didn't see any sign of weakness. Even when she felt completely defeated.

Bull is a very hot man. He is the leader of the local MC and he has his eyes on Maddie. He is a man that knows what he wants, and he wants her. When he sees that Maddie is lacking confidence.. let's say that he is happy to peel off her insecurities one by one.

The sex scenes were fire. The chemistry of these two characters was so mind-blowingly hot. They had so much passion! 🔥 I loved this push and pull game between them.

I mentioned that I got some life lessons from this book. And I did. Sometimes we tell things to other people and we have no idea how much they affect them. How much they hurt them. Sometimes we believe that we are better and we just like to shove in their face their "flaws". Do i know that this is not kind? Yes. Do i know that this is wrong? Yes. But through this book I realized how people literally can't get off their mind what other people believe for them. How they try to adapt their own life in order to change the things that other people believe that are flaws. It's actually heartbreaking 💔.

As a woman I needed this book so much. It showed me what many other women go through. This is not your typical romance read and it definitely deserves your attention. Please don't sleep on it.

Maddie French has been put down, belittled, and ignored all her life. Her weight has always seem to be an issue for everyone around her no matter how nice and helpful she is around town.
When she's in need of a job, she gets an offer from the most unexpected person, the President of Chaos and Carnage MC Bull.
For years Bull has seen Maddie around and harbored some kind of attraction for the curvy woman. But he's never had a reason to get close to her and she herself has always run or looked the other way with him. Offering her a job serves two purposes for Bull. One she gets a paying job and two she's now going to be around him so much that he can finally maybe get her out of his system.
However, as the president of Chaos and Carnage MC, Bull has never experienced what it would be like to have an enemy realize he had a weakness, especially one that can't fight back against his enemies. So when the club comes under attack Bull does what it takes to protect Maddie, even if it means breaking her heart.

I liked this book.
I liked the relationship between Bull and Maddie. I absolutely loved that Bull was the kind of man who wasn't offended by her curves, heck he actually loved and encouraged her to embrace them.
Heck, I even liked the little twist thrown in about Maddie's past thrown in to the story.
What I didn't like, and I feel like this seems to be a constant issue with many of Sam Crescents books for me, the constant repetition of the heroines weight.
I get that Maddie's weight is a large issue in this book for the problems to make sense. However, I think it just gets ridiculous when I'm reading the heroines point of view and I can't even go one page without the mention of her weight. Like I get it, but there is only so much that I can read before I get bored and annoyed because it's just repeating what's already been said nonstop throughout the book.

Heart wrenching

Oi this book certainly was a hard one to read .
For those of us who are a little on the plus side for those who have been constantly told your fat, your ugly, you'll never get a man , if you lost some weight you could be pretty, etc etc etc. You my friend might find this book confronting and may set off some triggers.
It did for me but I kept reading because I know Sam Crescent the author always brings her characters through the bad and the ugly to get to the good and I really wanted to see Maddie get her good.

And as usual Sam Crescent doesn't disappoint. I adored Maddie she was a beautiful soul both inside and out . She had been through hell but never let it dull her spirit regardless of her upbringing and bullying she had a heart of gold. Bull loved Maddie from afar but just needed that inn to get her to open up .
As the president of the Carnage and Chaos MC he could have any woman he wanted but Bull didn't see any other woman but Maddie he loved her curves and he would do anything to make Maddie his. He didn't realise that to get the woman of his dreams he had first have to battle Maddie's past but he was a patient man and he would win her heart even if it was her own mind he had the hardest battle to contend with. As someone who still fights those inner demons on a daily basis and as confronting as the subject matter of this book was I loved it and I'm so glad I read it.

Chaos is an accurate description

I enjoyed the book. There were times when you got wrapped up in the story and then there were times where I swear, it seemed like it went on and on.

Maddie is overweight and suffers from extreme low self esteem. Bull, the president of an MC, has been watching her for years..when he finally makes his move, he realizes that there is a lot of personal baggage that he must get through before Maddie will fully accepts him and their relationship. Unfortunately, when the bad part of the MC starts to worm its way into his life, he'll have to hurt Maddie in order to protect her and that will be the worst thing he could do.

I enjoyed the story but there were several times where I just couldn't take it or where the storyline seemed a bit muddled.

Maddie's self esteem issues made you feel sorry for her, then empathize with her, but after a while, it got irritating and you judged wanted to see her get some therapy. The loose story about her adoptive vs real patents was stupid. It made little sense and wasn't really ever addressed. It was more like an after thought.

The story stayed on one theme too long and others not enough. The cartel and crime boss parts had meat, but the story never really centered around them.

I enjoyed the story and hope that there sill be more, but I also hope that the characters are more well rounded and interesting.

Maddie has been put down for who she is all her life so when Bull, the biker takes an interest in her she isn’t too sure about it. Then just when she starts to trust him, he goes and does the stupid thing thinking to protect her.

Size Matters storyline has a lot of slow-moving parts, some are really great while others can get really freaking boring. All the parts combined to make for a great emotional roller coaster as long as you keep the skipping the boring parts to a minimum. Maddie is a very likable character when she is standing up for herself but she is so kind hearted that she rarely does it.

I did find what I thought were a couple of potential edits but after reading them again I was able to attribute the wording to be consistent to where the author is from and helping them make more sense and educational about other parts of the world. There was another part in the book where Bull was thinking about his motorcycle and the phrase “kept her in good nick” came up and again I was scratching my head but again I contribute that to where the author is from and hope that maybe by mentioning it she will explain it because I am really curious.

Not For Me

I've read this ebook via Kindle Unlimited and this is my honest opinion:
This is my first ebook by Sam Crescent and sadly will be my last.
For me, I felt it dragged out in places, especially the lead up to Bull verbally destroying Maddie.
But towards the end 80% of what was said to Maddie disappeared. This causes many questions that never get answered (possibly due to Bull and Maddie never getting back together), such as: did Bull have sex with the woman on his lap in the diner? The fact that Bull offers Maddie to his MC brothers whilst stating she's newly lost her v.card so she's still tight!
I'm certain no woman, even those with body dysmorphia, would happily take the man back.
Bull even tries to deflect Maddie's distress at him by telling her that she was adopted and then saying who her real parents are. Yet, Maddie never asks him how long he's known.
Realistically, Bull and Maddie would never have ended up together.
Maddie's character and back story is so appallingly dreadful, I'm surprised she's still going. It was funny that she doesn't acknowledge her real parents even though she is close with them as friends.
IMO the whole premise feels like it's been written by a misogynistic author. I certainly won't be reading anything else from this author.

Maddie French was raised by hateful, cruel people. All of life she has been called ugly and fat. She gets stood up for the last time. She is swearing off men for good. She loses her job and while crying in her food, Kirk “Bull” Reynolds walks into the diner. Bull is president of Chaos And Carnage Motorcycle Club. He has wanted Maddie for years. Bull hires her to run the front part of his garage. Maddie volunteers at a local animal shelter when she is attacked and seriously injured. She’s in a coma for two weeks and Bull stays right by her side. When she’s finally released, Bull takes her home with him to take care of her. When she gets better she continues to live with Bull. Bull learns that a cartel might be coming after them, so to keep Maddie safe, he breaks up with her and does it in the most embarrassing, worst possible place. When she’s kidnapped anyway, Bull will stop at nothing to get her back but will she forgive him?

I really like Sam Crescent books. This one was not edited or someone just half way did it. I would have to reread certain parts and it still made no sense. Betrayal. Angst. Bullying. Steamy. Motorcycle club. Action. Maddie is a big woman and she was constantly thinking she was ugly and fat. Bull loved her curves but Maddie didn’t believe him.

So So good

I absolutely love what this author has done with this book. Honestly we dont get many big girl and men in the MC books who like them so for me this was a delight to read.
Bull is president of Chaos and Carnage MC, he took over from his old man when he died and now is turning the club round for the good. He has always liked Maddie so when he sees that she has been stood up once more from a date he decides its time for him to go for her.
Poor Maddie has just lost a job, been stood up once more on a date because of her size so when Bull comes to her with this decision about a job at his mecanic shop she jumps at the chance. Getting though to Maddie is not easy because she has always been told she is fat and its Bulls job to put her wrong on all levels. He really likes her, however a dogfighting ring and another MC coming into town sees Maddie in danger and Bull will do whatever he has to do to protect her.

For me this was an highly emotional story, but you know what it is so worth it to read this story. There may be some triggers for some ladies and there is a warning in this book so beware. But if you dont have triggers then ladies go for it i just know you will love it.
