Fandom: Harry Potter

Pairing: Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter

-------------------------

Before his third year of Hogwarts has even begun, Harry faces three whole weeks of unsupervised time in Diagon Alley. In that time he takes a trip to Gringotts - and that changes everything.

Burdened with the knowledge that Dumbledore has been blocking his family magic, and manipulating far more than he ever thought possible, Harry doesn't know who he can trust; but he knows he can't keep going that way. There's a whole world of lore and politics and history to catch up on, and the more he learns, the more Harry realises his true place in the world, and how much is being kept hidden from him. All the while, Dumbledore's twinkling eyes are constantly watching, and Harry can't let on how much he knows.

With help from unexpected places, Harry starts on a journey to end the war, and reshape the wizarding world. With how much he looks like James Potter, people have forgotten one important thing about him - he is Lily Evans' son, and she was one hell of a witch.

This is a mammoth of a fic and I couldn't take a break to read anything else until I was finished with it. Really interesting plot that spans over 4 years. It does great things with some tropes that are often done badly, such as family magics. There were some brilliant plot twists, and some very satisfying scenes of revelations. I liked how much inter-House interactions happened, and it led to some unexpected pairings. This fic had semi-sentient Hogwarts! I adore that idea and it's not utilised enough I swear. Here it was mixed with family magic of the Founders with great result.

However I had some trouble believing in main pairings. Even in Drarry (which I ship!), not to mention other two (no qualms about Neville/Ginny tho). At about half when all relationships became quite established I finally accepted then, but still romance was one of the weakest parts of the fic for me. Also Hermione was blatantly vilified. It was tagged as "Not Hermione friendly", but honestly she was stupid to the point of complete OOC. Speaking of tags - it wasn't tagged but this fic has Indian!Harry.

No re-read for me in the future, but was definitely worth my time.

This one was massive and so well written that it was basically pure magic. The author fixed SO many of the things that bothered me in canon. They finally addressed Harry's abuse, and he finally got to confront each adult that let it happen. Draco and Harry's relationship was more fleshed out in this one. Everything was just incredibly well done. I am buzzing just thinking about how masterful this fic was. The writer starts from third year all the way to sixth year, giving Harry an ACTUAL life and people around him. I think that was my favourite part, watching Harry become a person. The character development is so perfect. He's a completely different person by the time he faces voldermort. This felt like an episode of 'what if...?'

I swear reading this made me realize how awful Harry had it in canon. Small things that we glossed over just because the plot kept focusing on the battle to come. Like the love potion. In this fic, Harry is appropriately shaken and everyone around him rallies to support him against this awful thing that almost happened to him. God I had SO many light bulb moments reading this. Even watching Harry integrate more people in his life instead of just sticking to the two. Dumbledore was really scary in this one. I feel like it was eye-opening. Some of the stuff he did in canon actually get talked about here and we get to talk about how bad it actually is. Also, I definitely think that Lily and James would have made it very clear that Petunia was the worst guardian. And they kept sending him back there. This was magic. Its like they took apart the original story and cleaned up the mess, which made it a thousand times better.

Honestly, it was almost like a religious experience reading this. This might be hands down my favourite HP fanfic. The detail, the emotion, even adding other characters made it so good. Although hermione made me really angry. I can definitely see Ron acting that way, he is like that even in canon. And I get that Hermione always took his side but would she really stick by dumbledore even when everything happened. Like the kidnapping and Dumbledore running away. Or the part where she sees how happy Harry is and how much he's grown. That part clashed with this ideal Hermione I have always had in my head.

Now, the relationships. So many. Severus and Remus are my favourite hands down. That's a part of the marauders I can't wait to get into more. But watching Harry get his own room and a safe place for the first time made me tear up. Then slowly trusting and reaching out to new people now that he has a foundation to build on. Watching him basically root out the corruption, learn what he can do, and then actually make lasting changes was amazing. This fic was just insanely good. I don't know if I can reread it all again but it was fucking awesome and I stumbled upon it by complete accident. Aki my life😅

Yes, I am acknowledging that the fan fiction I read is so good that it deserves a spot on my goodreads. It is actually often better than some books. This one in particular. It’s certainly long enough to count (109 chapters of pure joy)!

What a masterpiece. This story had everything I could have ever wanted in a fan fiction and had a masterful new storyline and such a deep understanding of the magical world. The magic lore and inheritance system was incredible and has changed the way I think about the Harry Potter universe. It made my heart literally hurt with how much love I had for these characters. The storylines and pairings were so authentic and beautiful that I wish it was canon (it’s canon in my mind).

Ahh I just loved it! Animagus Harry?! Heir of Slytherin? Sentient Hogwarts??? It’s like this fic was written just for me

Long fic, lot of smut.

The people I love know how I feel about fanfictions. For me, this kind of fan activity is so much more than just a way to have fun or something to do out of boredom. When stories are written like this one… guys. This is a work of art.

I’m so happy I read it! It made me smile in so many ways, drove me a little crazy, kept me awake at night, and got me talking (a lot!) about Dumbledore and those infuriating redheads.
I cried through the last three chapters—like, really cried.

The writing? Impeccable. There’s a rhythm to it, a kind of emotional precision that hits exactly where it hurts, and where it heals. And the way the author reshapes canon—not by breaking it, but by slipping through its cracks and finding new truths—it’s just masterful.

Some said it starts slow—maybe. But that’s how you steep a potion: not everything good comes in flashes. Sometimes, it brews deep. And this one? This one stayed with me.

Thank you for this story. I loved every bit of it, and I swear I’ll never shut up about it.

Special mention to my favourite Severus Snape ever. Ever.

This piece was an absolute work of art, possibly my favourite I’ve read in a long, long time, to the point 750k words don’t seem enough and leave me wanting to read more of these beautifully crafted characters. Thank you for writing this and letting us readers be a part of such an incredible story.

The ships of like Severus and Remus were shocking and same with Charlie and Sirius, but you just made them feel right together, so congrats to you. I loved that Harry was smart in this fic, you don’t get that many fics like that so I really appreciated it. Awesome and totally worth the read

I remember that I read this a while ago, I also remember HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS!!

I’m such a fan of the politics in this book and all the friendships that they have here 🥺🥺

Also I LOVE when they write Dumbledore as the VILLAIN he is.

This was perfect 5/5 and I’ll probably re-read this again.

You really had me slogging through 700k words of Harry Potter meticulously preparing to kill Voldemort and confront Dumbledore, only for I had To Ashes and Blood by Woodkid on full blast (an Arcane song, mind you) waiting for the epic battle of hogwarts; that was… hilarious not gonna lie. Very comical. Laughed at myself lots.

The author did mention that they couldnt really write the battle scenes much so I understand, however, props to them for writing so good nonetheless. This Harry was *Chef’s Kiss*

Not a bad fic but not the best either. It was entertaining and I did like some of the plot twists.
I read it for Drarry so some of the other ships weren’t to my liking but overall it was okay.
Also lots of smut.

Firstly my review will hold spoilers so if you want to avoid that best not to start with this review and also this is a bit long as there is just so much to talk about.
This was a beautiful fanfiction, it shows a political aspect of the magical word in a way we never truly think about, I think the plot of the story was incredibly thought out and well executed.
I have to admit that the inclusion of the other characters of the book was beautiful, the main books, don't really explore deeply any other relationships apart from the golden trio, and when they do it never feels like it breaks the surface, but this fic did; the relationships between Snape and Remus, Charlie and Sirius and even characters like Ginny and Nevil, not just in relationship settings but their real thoughts and feelings, who they are as people was covered as well and I think it was amazing!
It kept true to the story even though a lot of things changed it still felt like I was reading Harry Potter.
I felt with another writer or a slightly different plot some of the things included might have been far fetched or unbelievable such as the founder seats, but how this was set and the build up to it made it flow naturally and left me feeling warm and happy, which it was meant to do and in that sense well done!
However, even though this was sold to me as a Drarry fic, their relationship was not as present as I thought it would be, if you go into it thinking it is only about drarry I hate to break it to you but the plot takes over romance in this one, not to say I didn't find it cute or well done it just isn't a very dominant theme in this if that makes sense. I would argue that the relationship was presented age appropriately and realistic, boys figuring out who they are separately and with each other taking their time to grow and love before taking things further and when it does start getting there, it is covered excellently with topics about safe sex and consent slipped in without feeling forced or awkward.
I loved the relationship between, Harry, Remus and Sirius, they weren't together but the perfect example of what I think co-parenting is or should be. I did have mixed feeling towards the end when Sirius and Remus started wanted kids with their separate partners, as I felt a bit sad for Harry his dads in a sense wanted their own kids and it made me feel a bit angry for harry as even though they still viewed harry as their kid he was already too grown up and had limited time with them, I know they were getting older and wanted their own families and such but it just made me feel like Harry wasn't enough for them again especially as we see harry desperately cling to them for that parental love he wanted and needed and they were enough for him but he wasn't enough for them. That just be my longing coming through but another example of how this fic just pulls that deep heart wrenching emotion out of you.
The characters Molly, Hermione, Ron and Dumbledore;
Wow, that's a word I believe describes it perfectly. I have never been an avid dumbledore hater.... ever, I could agree that some of his decisions were a bit iffy but this was a perspective that came through with RECIPTS. Even admitting that dumbledore was portrayed overly untrustworthy in this, his actions never really differed from that of the books (apart from the last couple chapters where he kidnapped harry and went crazy) He did knowingly send him to abusive muggles, let Sirius his rightful guardian be put in Azkaban without a trial, I'm sure with influence that he holds he could have helped him, he did isolate him in fifth year, with trauma from a friend dying and terrifying memories of Voldemort's resurrection, he did leave Sirius in a house pent up causing the ministry incident, he did lie and manipulate Harry on several occasions and it wasn't until this fic that the significance of that was actually brought up and broadcasted how horrible this was and for that alone this fic is worth 100/10 stars, we shouldn't idolize seemingly good people who did bad deeds out of necessity for the greater good.
Hermione and Ron are villainised in this, and Ron I understood and supported because even though I understand living in your best friends shadow, even in canon he did treat harry unfairly due to jealousy and harry constantly overlooked it cuz they were best friends and Ron was the only access to family he had, which is devastating, I think if harry had had access to other houses to other good genuine people they would not have stayed friends point blanc. Hermione I think was overinflated as well but it wasn't so far fetched out of character that I didn't believe it, make of that what you will. Molly....yeah to be honest she was a bit of a bossy two shoes in the book needed a reality check.
the intermingling of the houses, chef kiss, the relationships, chefs kiss and the inclusion of lgbtq stunning.
Snapes relationship with harry was beautifully done as well, the slow build, the finding out about the prophesy, the raw emotion each had, I believe by the end Harry did have three dads.
I also like that Harry chose quidditch as a career as he's had enough of gloom and doom, he just wants to have fun, but still making him smart and capable was brilliant, with support and love and time harry definitely could have achieved those OWL's in cannon and bringing that to light was inspiring and motivational.

This was a colossal fic with an even more colossal emotional impact and I would highly recommend it, Neville gets the time he deserves and harry gets the love and support he truly needed, if you need a bingeworthy feelgood read that still has trials to overcome then reach for this fic! cannot sing enough praises.
Well done!

Unbelievable. Awe worthy.
This is a rewrite of the series from the 3rd book on, and of course it’s a million times better than the original. That is why Fanfiction exists.
I loved every single word in this story, and it’s the longest one I’ve read.
This plot of this one revolves around family magics. How everyone receives their family magic inheritance when they turn 17. Harry being Harry, receives 3 because he is the heir of 3 families.
Snape is the absolute best. It felt like a queer festival with how diverse the couples were, but they all made sense. Tonks was gender fluid.
Hogwarts woke up the heirs and the castle magic felt like a hug.
I could write forever and never run out of things I loved from this fic. It is one of the bests, that’s for sure.

So very, very good. I didn't like how OOC Hermione was but everything else about this was wonderful. It filled in so many gaps in the originals, added layers of politics and magic, and had better character development of both main characters and many students and former students we don't get to know otherwise. I especially liked getting more in depth with Bill and Charlie.

This is one of the greatest things I have ever read. I am new to Fanfiction but I read this for the first time in April and I have since read it two more times. (I’m so glad I managed to eke into fanfiction after this was finished.) The first time I read it I had two days off in a row from work and I essentially didn’t sleep, I read this monster of a fic in less than 48 hours. It is so good I can confidently say I want this to be my new canon. I do understand that some people don’t like the bashing elements but I think it’s really well done considering and it goes with the story well it’s not bashing for the sake of bashing. 10/10 would recommend to LITERALLY ANYONE

It was a 5 star read at first and then I got a bit bored in the middle so more like a 3.5 (edit: now I know why I got less into it, I was in for Harry finding his family, people he trust and love him so when that was resolved I did not felt as engaged)
Still it is rare to find one so well written and that took care of so many things that bothered me while reading Harry Potter. It was mainly sweet it felt a lot like comfort food but you know after 11 hours of reading comfort just turns into weariness. If you ever see this review thank you so much for creating a space to such a diverse bunch of characters.
