“My descent to the Seventh Circle of Hell began with a lawn chair.”

When Maggie loses a lucrative contract for her P.I. agency due to an accidental full frontal flashing, she’s forced to accept the only other job on offer: one involving her nemesis, the pampered show cat, Quibbles. Maggie and her wacky associate Lenny are hired to escort Quibbles to the final round of auditions to become the face of a luxury cat food brand, Purrfect Paws.

Instead of the five-star hotel they were promised, Maggie and Lenny find themselves trapped in a run-down hostelry in the middle of a hurricane. To make matters worse, their fellow guests include five spoiled celebrity cats and their ruthlessly ambitious owners, all of whom are determined that their cat should be chosen as the face of Purrfect Paws.

And then a cat-astrophe strikes. One by one, the owners start dying. With the storm raging, and the body count rising, Maggie and Lenny are determined to find the killer before their inn turns into a morgue.

Can Maggie catch the killer or will her fur-midable opponent get the upper paw? Grab a copy and find out today!

Ex USA cop and now private investigator Maggie Doyle and her partner Lenny, both from Whisper Island, Ireland, had been hired to accompany the Maine coon Quibbles to the final round in the competitions for Purrfect Paws cat food, because his owner was recovering from surgery and she was concerned about threatening emails she’d received regarding Quibbles. So, much as Maggie didn’t want to have anything to do with the huge cat, the job would pay the bills.

With a hurricane on the way and their 5 star accommodation inaccessible, Maggie contacted her cousin who worked at a rundown hotel not too far away. But the state of the hotel left a lot to be desired – the guests were not happy. Maggie was worried about her boyfriend, Sergeant Liam Reynolds, also from Whisper Island, as he was making his way through the storm to join Maggie. In the meantime, one of the owners was murdered and while Maggie and Lenny investigated and interviewed the guests, more bodies were found. What was going on? Why were cat owners being murdered?

Apocalypse Meow is the 7th in the Movie Club Mysteries by Zara Keane and I loved it! I was laughing out loud before I’d even finished the first chapter! There were plenty of red herrings along the way and it was good to have Quibbles along for the ride again. Great characters, really good settings and an intriguing mystery makes Apocalypse Meow another fantastic addition to this series, which I recommend highly.

With thanks to the author for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

The seventh book of Zara Keane's Movie Club Mysteries brings Maggie, her P.I. partner Lenny, and QUIBBLES (the demon Maine Coon cat from the previous book) outside of Whisper Island. After a disastrous job interview, Maggie and Lenny are hired to escort Quibbles to attend the final round of auditions to become the model for a luxury cat food brand.

Unfortunately, the five-stars hotel that is supposed to be the location for the event has pipe burst problem. Every cat contestants and their owners are forced to move elsewhere. Maggie's idea is to stay at a hotel where her cousin work - the hotel is BAD but what is worse, well, considering Maggie is a magnet for murder... she ends up with dead body. AGAIN.

...

Maggie Doyle is back!! I highly enjoy this series and bingeing all previous six books of it last year. I'm happy that it has a new book. This time the case feels rather different. Because EVERYONE is "forced" to stay at the hotel, and the storm kept them from going out or even get help (no phone or internet connection). So it feels like a locked-door mystery. All the suspects are in one place, so Maggie and Lenny must discover who among them is the murderer.

It feels that things went fast -- again because of the forced location. Maggie gets help from her cousin, Angel, to uncover clues, even though Maggie doesn't fully trust her at one point. Especially since she's the one bringing the means of murder to the victim (a bit spoiler: it was death by poison!). I'm quite intrigued with Angel. Luckily, she will get her own book later this year.

All in all, good times!!

Maggie and Lenny have a potential lucrative contact with a law firm IF they can please the snooty lawyer with a snazzy video interview. Owing to Lenny's eccentricies, he ends up flashing the lawyers missing out on the contract. The private detectives are forced to work for Mrs. Nelson's cat Quibbles, taking him to an audition to be a spokescat for a cat food company. Quibbles's mom claims her cat has been recieving threatening letters and she's worried about something happening to him. THAT is more in Maggie's line than catsitting. Who would threaten a cat? Apparently the other cat moms and dads take this audition VERY seriously. Could one of them be threatening the others hoping to win by process of elimination? With Liam coming to join Maggie for a romantic getaway, the three should be able to solve this case and save Quibbles from harm. Not so fast! First they must contend with everything that could possibly go wrong happening all at once, a dark and stormy night, Maggie's estranged cousin and a sneaky murderer. Will anyone survive this weekend?

This book seems to be an homage to Christie and Golden Age mysteries. You have your dark and stormy night and your locked room mystery all in one. The mystery is slightly creepy though and the body count was too high for me. I did end up figuring out whodunit pretty quickly. I wasn't sure though- just a hunch. I didn't have a motive and that one I never guessed at all. In spite of the darkness, it's cozy and funny! I laughed out loud a few times. I got a kick out of Pixatragram and the Great Irish Purr Off LOL! The cat show plot didn't sound like it would appeal to me because I'm not a cat person but I actually enjoyed it and even awwd at the cats a few times!

Maggie is suepr confident in her professional life. She's tough, she knows how to conduct an investigation and how to handle suspects. I don't like how wishy washy she is in her personal life. Her relationship with Liam has progressed rapidly and now they're planning to buy a house together and raise his daughter yet she can't talk about marriage or future children? I guess that's supposed to make her more complex and relatable? I could relate to her feelings about Quibbles. It must be a Maine Coon trait to be nasty to people. I knew a Maine Coon (mix?) who was not the nicest cat in the world. Quibbles is coming around to Maggie though. He looked to her for comfort and safety in the absence of his mom. That was very sweet. He's still nasty to people who don't like him though. Lenny is a riot. He's still a stoner and crazy. Lenny provides the comic relief. He's smarter than he looks though and his idea of wearing a bee keeping suit to hold Quibbles is very practical. Liam is hardly in the book at all, sadly. I missed him.

Maggie's cousin Angel is the daughter of the black sheep of the family. Angel, too, sounds like a black sheep or at best, a rogue. She's mischievous, likes to cause trouble to stir the pot, overworked, underpaid and bored. That's a deadly combination. Maggie doesn't want to suspect her cousin of murder but she was there and the only person to interact with one of the "stiffs". They were all rude to her, not undestanding or sympathetic towards her situation as a one-woman hotel staff for a super cheap boss. I'm eager to read Knifed In Nice now. Emma Corrigan is the woman running the contest. She came up with the idea but she doesn't seem to have project management experience. It sounds like she's in way over her head. Maggie has to take charge. I feel bad for Emma because the humans are rude, the cats are not sweet and cuddly and she has to contend with a whole lot of unintended problems. What would she do without Maggie? Haakon and Nigel are an adorable couple but they sure do love to gossip. Maggie asks for the scoop and Haakon, especially, enjoys filling her in. He's a wealth of information and an outsider so he doesn't have a motive to threaten Quibbles, or does he? The rumor about him would certainly give him a motive. Nigel is a veternarian and on call to take care of the cats

Quibbles is one of 6 contenders for the cat food spokescat job. There's Mildred, a Blue Persian who stars on a children's show. Her mom is Mona Manning, a single, middle-aged lady who no one likes because she complains a lot. The sucttlebutt is that her cat is not really in the running because Mildred doesn't have any international exposure, mainly only the children's show. Nigel Nolan, an antiques dealer, is snobby, snippy and his cat, Trevor, is not sociable either. A Pixtragram star, Ragdoll cat Lou-Belle came with an entourage. Her human, Sharon, is a cat groomer with a chain of fancy salons. She does not appear to be very much in love with her husband, Damian Szabo, a photographer who is rumored to be schtupping their assistant, Rianne. Rianne is a professional hand model and a little too old for a sullen teen attitude but that's how she acts. She seems to be hiding something. I wonder if she's sending threatening notes on behalf of her employer. If Sharon is a murder victim, that certainly would point to Rianne but I can't see any motive for murdering another contestant's human. Paula Harrington is obsessed with her Manx cat, Honey. Paula is the most eccentric of the humans. She's a homeopath obsessed with "woowoo" stuff and insists her cat is psychic. Um Ok... I think she's harmless and wouldn't threaten other cats but she has the knowledge to commit murder if she wants to.

Cora Fallon is a super snobby lawyer who can't understand accidents happen. Whose fault was it that she saw Lenny's "little Lenny"? She could have looked away or turned off the video. She's not a very nice person and bullies her sister Brenda. Brenda is Cora's unpaid servant and does whatever her sister tells her. Maggie gets the impression Brenda has mental health issues. I didn't quite see that but maybe PTSD and maybe just difficulty standing up for herself. Cora is obsessed with her cat Lady who others say is an also ran and not at the same level of stardom as Quibbles and some of the other cats. Could Cora be behind the threatening notes? I wouldn't be surprised. After all, she comes to the audition as a runner-up after Princess dropped out. Would Cora stoop to murdering the competition though? I don't really think so but maybe? Mr. Richards is a mysterious cat-hater staying at Angel's hotel. He won't come out of his room and socialize as long as the cats are there. He's an unknown entity but Angel notices some things that may connect him to the cat fanciers after all. I bet he's a cat hater who sent death threats.

If you like the other books in the series, you will enjoy this one. Cat lovers will enjoy this as well.

ARC received from author for an honest review

Yaaaas! We are back on Whisper Island with Maggie Doyle, and the only questions I have to ask? How many bodies will she find today!

Add in the devil cat Quibbles, and we are in for all kinds of fun and games.

When Maggie and her partner in (solving) crime Lenny are on the case, there is no end to the mayhem and mishaps that ensue. Lord, Lenny always makes me laugh out loud with his antics.

You will have a good ol' time trying to figure out whodunnit - I had an idea of the whom but not the why this time). Ms Keane, the queen of quirky cozy mysteries had me stumped for the most part.

This is the 7th book in the Movie Club Mystery series, and I am enjoying them more than I did at the start.

I can't wait to see what she brings us next.

Apocalypse Meow is the seventh book in the Movie Club Mysteries series by Zara Keane, featuring Maggie Doyle, former cop turned PI who now lives in Ireland on Whisper Island.

In Apocalypse Meow, Maggie is in need of money. She and Lenny, her partner, in the P.I. agency have the chance at a lucrative contract, but a run in with some strange lawn chairs, and the resulting nudity while on a video conference call means no contract, a complaint to the police and no other choices. Maggie is forced to work with a very pampered show cat called Quibbles, who also happens to be her nemesis and the many scars on her hands are a testament to that.

Maggie and Lenny have to take Quibbles to the auditions for the cat face of Purrfect Paws. They are supposed to be staying in the lap of luxury, in a five-star hotel, but everything goes downhill and they are forced to stay in a rundown railway station turned into a hotel in the middle of a worsening storm with all of the ambitious owners and their cats who are competing to be the winner of the competition.

It’s almost like an Agatha Christie novel where guests are stuck in one place and strange things start to happen. Pretty soon, Maggie and Lenny are up to their necks in dead bodies and trying to work out who did it and why. Add in no power, the worsening weather outside and guests with secrets as well as a cousin she hasn’t seen in years, Maggie and Lenny will have to work fast to stop the body count from rising and work out who wanted all of the victims dead.

This is an intriguing mystery that had me laughing out loud at some of the antics that Maggie and Lenny got up to. It was also packed with atmosphere and interesting characters. I didn’t guess who the killer was and that is an added bonus. If you love cozy mysteries with good plots and humour, then this series is for you. The books can stand alone, but are better read in order.

Maggies PI agency loses a contract with a law firm due to a technical difficulty involving Lennie flashing the lawyer on the other end of the video call. The lawyer was a jerk anyway. So they get hired to escort a cat to a competition to be a spikes at for a cat food company. When they arrive their 5 star hotel has a sewage leak so they move to a motel that Maggie’s cousin works at which is not 5 stars and is definitely in the Bates Motel chain. When the cat owners start popping off due to cyanide posited whiskey Maggie’s and Lennie investigate. Did I mention the hurricane? So the police cannot be reached and then the electric goes out. A romp of a read with lots of suspects.

A humorous, entertaining, and fast-paced mystery with plenty of viable suspects trapped in a nasty dive of a motel. What more could you ask for?
This book is part of a series but stands well on its own as well.

While hoping to get a nice contract from a law firm in Galway,
Maggie sets up a video conference with the firm.
Everything is going okay, and then, Lenny happens.
If it can go wrong, it does. The cheap chairs Lenny brought both collapses causing Maggie to flash her knickers, while Lenny does the Full Monty!
Needless to say, that interview was over.
Now, as she needs money to live on.
She and Lenny are going to be babysitting, and making sure her mortal enemy, the orange Maine Coon, Quibbles, gets to all of the appointments for a cat competition to represent a famous cat food company.
Of course, just to make things interesting. Quibbles can’t stand this particular brand of cat food.
Once they arrive at the hotel for the cat show, they’re greeted with the smell of a busted sewer pipe and non habitable 5-star hotel.
Maggie’s estranged cousin works in another hotel not too far away and can accommodate up to 8 rooms in a small and rundown former train station.
If that’s not enough, the storm outside has now been upgraded to a hurricane that knocks out the
power giving one of the contestant's owners the chance to make sure there’s less competition for
his/her cat, and the very nice grand prize. Or, is it really about the competition?
I guess it’s a good thing Maggie and Lenny have investigated murders before.
There skills are once again needed.
This is the seventh book in the Movie Club Mysteries. And I have found myself laughing at several of the antics of the characters in all of the books in the series.
Even though there are murders in them, the author takes a light hearted approach while keeping the characters and situations believable.
This was a fun story with developed characters and a few unexpected twists.

Read Books in order. This is #7 in the series.
Maggie sets up a video conference with the firm.
The Plan: 1. Get a nice contract from a law firm in Galway. Live a better life.
Murphy's law intervention( A.K.A : Lenny) to Plan?
1a: Cheap chairs : Cause and effect?
A. Chairs fail during interview Results? Unexpected Mooning: Maggied just showes her knicker covered" moon".
Lenny's moon rise surprise? A full moon( A,K.A The full monty!) what a day to go commando!
Results? Interview went South! it was over- no do overs.
Plan B : 2 . Need money for living expenses, Deal with the Devil: the orange Maine Coon, Quibbles.
The new mission? babysitting: making sure her mortal enemy, gets to all of the appointments for a cat competition to represent a famous cat food company. Just their luck?
Of course, just to make sure it wont be easy. Quibbles can’t stand this particular brand of cat food.
Murphy's law again make its move A. Once they arrive at the hotel for the cat show, they’re greeted with the smell of a busted sewer pipe, non habitable 5-star hotel.
Plan D. Maggie’s estranged cousin works in another hotel ,can accommodate up to 8 rooms in a small, rundown former train station.
Murphy's Law crowning play?
Storm outside has now been upgraded to a hurricane that knocks out thepower giving another contestant's owners the chance to make sure there’s less competition for his/her cat.
Maggie and Lenny have investigated murders before.
Their skills are once again needed.
Movie Club Mysteries, is a series of funny ,light hearted kind of mysterys. You almost forget that the adventures are about a murder.

This is a cozy mystery that is the cat’s meow! The cantankerous Maine coon Quibbles is in the finals of the contest that will select a cat to represent that company’s line of cat food. The event was going to be held at a posh hotel but disaster strikes and the whole group ends up at a run down flea bag motel. However, that’s not the worst of it as owners of cats start to turn up dead. There’s a raging storm outside so everyone has to stay together even tho there’s a
murderer in their midst. Luckily Quibble’s handlers are PI’s who have to investigate the occurrences! One dead body is too many but when the number goes up things get more tense.

I recommend this book to all who love cats and cozy mysteries regardless of how old you may be! There are laughs a plenty throughout to keep you amused and a whodunnit to solve as well! It’s the perfect recipe for a relaxing evening or two to see if you can guess the person’s identity before its revealed!

This series is so much fun! The people are down to earth types-some snobs others thieves and the rest in between- a slice of Americana except this story takes place in Ireland! Still it’s a joy to read and you are assured of a good time!

I urge you to get this book and when you’ve finished it get more books in the series so you can enjoy Maggie and Lenny’s escapades in solving the crimes in each book! Your self will thank you for reading these enjoyable books! It’s so much more entertaining than sitting in front of the tv to be entertained!

Maggie and Lenny are back with a story that pays homage to the "locked-room mystery" where all the suspects and victims are together in one room, and therefore the killer must be one of those in attendance. In Apocalypse Meow, Maggie and Lenny are escorting their favorite feline, Quibbles (who was featured in the previously book in the series), to a cat contest that comes with considerable fame and fortune. When everyone is forced to a new hotel, and one of owners turns up murdered, Lenny and Maggie investigate the crime. A storm adds flavor and atmosphere to the story.

I adore these two main characters and the trouble they tend to get into when solving their cases. I also love the fact that they are friends (not romantic) and that Lenny provides smile-inducing moments and fashion whenever they are together, but he also knows how to be serious and smart about their work. I really don't care so much about what crime they are solving -- I just love spending time with the two.

In Apocolypse Meow, Maggie and Lennie split up and question the suspects to uncover the murderer. There are quite a few characters who are inter -related in various ways, and Maggie's cousin Angel Doyle is introduced as a new character in a spin-off series. I sure hope that means Maggie and Lennie aren't retiring! Liam, Maggie's boyfriend and fellow crime fighter is also involved with the solving of the crime and I would have loved to have more of the three of them together.

Overall, this was a fun story with plenty of human and feline shenanigans.

Apocalypse Meow is Zara Keane’s seventh installment in the Movie Club Mystery series. Written with the same quick wit, offbeat characters and superb plot twists, this is a welcome addition.

Maggie’s PI agency needs money, fast. She and Lenny set up a video conference with a law firm trying to land a contract. It all falls through, literally, thanks to faulty furniture and full frontal nudity (Lenny).

With no other choice, the partners are forced to take a case acting as bodyguards for a cat in a national cat food competition. The not so friendly, feline terror known as Quibbles is the client. Maggie is less than pleased given her painful past with Quibbles (book six). It only gets better when the hotel has a plumbing emergency and the group of cat contestants and owners need to find new lodgings. Dive hotel, raging rainstorm, nasty cat owners with Maggie’s previously unmet, somewhat sketchy cousin Angel acting as host. What could possibly go wrong? MURDER!

Following Maggie and Lenny while they investigate the murder(s) is sheer pleasure! Full of humor, snark, well developed characters and multiple misadventures you’ll want to read this book in one sitting. The twists and turns keep you guessing, the ending totally unexpected.

I like Angel. And hope she makes an appearance in future books.

Thank you Zara Keane for the opportunity to read and review this wonderful book.

The Maggie Doyle mysteries are coming to a close as Maggie and Lenny are hired to escort Quibbles, the missing Maine Coon turned national hero from Book 6, to the final stage of the Great Irish Purr Off - the Purrfect Paws competition to see who will be the new face of the Irish brand of cat food. What’s supposed to be an investigation into threatening messages towards the show cats, unexpectedly becomes a multi-murder investigation that Maggie and Lenny must solve as quickly as possible. Tensions are high between the hurricane outside, the run-down hotel vibes, and all of the cat’s owners, as everyone prays that they’re not next.

This story especially felt fast-paced, as Maggie is working hard to make consistent income for her business and her future on Whisper Island. On top of paying the rent to Aunt Noreen for Movie Reel Investigations’ office, Maggie and Liam are trying to make the step towards buying a house together. Without proof of steady income, Maggie will be considered a liability to the loan officers. I think that while this book included less about Maggie’s personal life, it did include huge updates in her life. It also allowed Maggie to thrive in her element of solving cases, despite the lack of access to technology that they had as a result of the hurricane. I think this is the first time we see her frazzled about a case, but I think if I were in her shoes and “trapped” in a hotel with a killer on the loose, I’d be more than frazzled, too. Lenny is stronger in this book compared to the rest - he shines through as his own, intelligent person, and doesn’t seem to be relied on entirely for just comedic relief.

If we get any more updates on this series, I would love to see how Maggie and Liam handle their future, how the business goes after the Great Irish Purr Off is won, and of course, if Maggie’s family reconnects with Angel, their hotel manager and the daughter of their family’s “black sheep uncle”. Otherwise, I do believe this is a good ending to the Movie Club Mysteries series!

Maggie, Lenny, Liam and the rest of the gang from Movie Reel Investigations return in a new mystery featuring Maggie’s nemesis, Quibbles the cat. After failing to secure a lucrative law firm contract due to an hilarious incident involving a lawn chair and full frontal nudity, the partners are forced to accept a job chaperoning Quibbles in the Great Irish Purr Off. Although the contest is scheduled to take place in a luxury hotel, a stinky sewer pipe eruption forces a change of venue and the nearby accommodations provided by Maggie’s cousin, Angel, are about as far from luxury as one can imagine. To add to the groups woes, rain, thunder and lightening eventually lead to a power loss and people are being poisoned. Maggie is worried about her boyfriend, Liam, whose anticipated arrival is delayed by the conditions, and she and Lenny must try to stop the killings and find the murderer while keeping their client, Quibbles, safe. This is the seventh book in one of my favorite series and Zara Keane once again delivers a tantalizing mystery complete with humor, atmosphere and intriguing characters. The cats are a bonus for this animal loving mystery fan. Maggie’s cousin is an interesting addition and I hope she turns up again in future stories. She has some explaining to do. I highly recommend this entire series and a new release always goes to the top of my TBR list.

Maggie and Lenny re back! Well, not exactly the way that they want to which is investigating PIs. Instead in Apocalypse Meow it is as an escort of a show cat Quibbles to an audition for a cat food commercial. This is the seventh in the Movie Club Mysteries by Zara Keane with all the humor, shenanigans, and quirky characters that I have come to love in this series. Oh, also a murder or two along the way so of course there is an investigation to be.

This is a fun read. No gore or graphic violence but some pampered, thing spoiled cats, who are to be the breadwinners in the family. I won’t see a cat food commercial ever again without thinking of this book, wondering if the cats even eat that food. Also thinking of the cutthroat business behind the scenes of the commercial. It is a dog eat dog out there in in the show cat owner world.

Thanks for a story that held me interest, make me laugh, and grateful for my cat that is a lot less high maintenance but then I expect a lot less of him too. Love Lenny, always find his clothes choice a hoot.

The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a quirky mystery filled with mishaps from the start. It starts with Maggie and Lenny, Private Investigators, on a webcam call from a group of lawyers wanting to hire them. Unfortunately, the lawn chairs they are seated in collapse, taking Lenny's pants with them exposing him to the group. Needless to say, they don't get hired and have to fall back into taking a job involving Quibbles, a show cat they have protected before. His owner has been receiving threats since he became a finalist in a contest to name the spokes cat for a cat food company. Upon arriving at their hotel, there has been a broken sewage pipe and most of the cats and owners are moved to a hotel run by Maggie's niece she hasn't seen for years. There things go from bad to worse. Three people end up dead during a storm that cuts them off from everything. Can Maggie and Lenny find the killer before more people die and can Maggie's boyfriend Liam, a police officer arrive in time to help? Good book, enjoyed every minute looking forward to the next.

I am voluntarily reviewing this book after receiving it free from the author.

I absolutely love this series and was really craving more of it when I found out the latest was coming out tomorrow. I always know when Lenny's on the case with Movie Reel Investigations, laughs are guaranteed. In fact, the laughs started before the first chapter even ended, and it kept going from there. Maggie's usually good for some good scenes too. When they found themselves in a rundown hotel run by Maggie's cousin Angel, for some reason, I liked Angel immediately.

With a storm raging outside, a power outage and the bodies piling up, Maggie and Lenny had their hands full, since Liam hadn't quite made it to the hotel yet. I had an idea early on of who might be the killer, but I had no idea why. It was just a gut feeling. As everything was revealed in a hilarious showdown, I felt relief for everyone who wasn't guilty and could finally get out of the worse-than-Batels Motel.

The ending wrapped everything up neatly, there's no other word for it but awesome. I knew I liked that Angel!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book, and my opinions are my own.

A charming cozy by Zara Keane! With no other jobs in sight, Maggie and Lenny are left with no other choice than to escort Quibbles the cat to the Great Irish Purr Off. Expecting a luxury hotel for the weekend with Maggie’s boyfriend and police Sargent Liam, they are very disappointed when they arrive to find the hotel evacuated and all the cat owners up in arms. Everyone has to move to a very rundown hotel in the middle of nowhere run by Maggie’s cousin Angel. On top of that, there is a hurricane coming. During the first meal, a guest drops dead and mayhem breaks out. Maggie and Lenny start investigating since it will be morning before the police can even be called. Everyone is a suspect. To make matters worse, 2 more people are found dead. Will they be able to find the killer before anyone else dies? Colorful characters and more than a few laughs until the end. A very enjoyable read!

Well, I enjoyed this book so much, I read it in one sitting! Very tired the next day but I recommend this next Movie Club Mysteries wholeheartedly.

The first chapter had me gasping and laughing at the same time. Lenny never fails to provide comic relief! In the middle if a storm, Maggie is stuck with some eccentric cat owners and their cats at a less than stellar hotel in order for the cats to participate in the last round if the Purr Perfect Contest. The 5 star hotel that they were booked into has problems so .... and surprise, a relative of Maggie’s is managing the hotel.

What will happen? Can everyone get through the night? More of Liam, Maggie’s live in boyfriend is requested in the next book.

This is my honest opinion of this great book! With thanks to the author for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

I love the Movie Club Mysteries series. I have read most of them and they are always a good read and a good laugh. You never know what Lenny will do but it is a guarantee that it will be shaking your head kind of funny. This book is no different. I loved how this book takes place during a hurricane-type storm in a rundown hotel. Lots of references to Bates motel so you get the image right away. Don't want to give the ending away but I really like how Zara wrote the end of this book. I also love the new addition of Maggie's cousin Angel. I hope we see more of Angel in future books she is very clever and funny. Plus we need to learn more about her and Sergeant Liam Reynolds's relationship. This is my honest review and I would like to thank the author for my ARC copy.

After a spectacularly failed online job interview, Maggie and Lenny take the only job offer their P. I. business has available. Unfortunately, this job involves Maggie's nemesis, Quibbles the cat .
The weekend quickly goes bad with a storm and having to stay at a hotel other than the luxury one they had been expecting. The new hotel quickly turns to a hotel of horrors with a power outage and dead bodies stacking up.
There are plenty of quirky characters and several amusing situations to keep readers interested. The intended victim and the motive are not easily identified so you will have to keep reading to find out how it turns out.
I enjoyed this book immensely and will definitely be reading more in this series.

Apocalypse Meow (Movie Club Mysteries, #7), my eighth read from author Zara Keane. A fast-paced, enjoyable, well-written mystery with well-developed characters, a captivating storyline, and an island whose inhabitants grow on you with every word written. Each book in this series has been better than the last. Since I own more than a dozen of her books it won't be my last! I look forward to the next book in this series. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I'll definitely be reading more from this author. Now I need to find Darby O'Kill: A Short Story (Movie Club Mysteries #6.5), it's the only book in the series I don't have. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Taking a crazy Maine Coon to a national cat contest is not what Private Investigator Maggie Doyle planned to be doing, but it’s the only job available. With Lenny in tow and Liam on the way, she arrives at the hotel the contestants are supposed to be staying at to find that it is uninhabitable. After making reservations at the hotel her cousin works at for herself and the other contestants, she and Lenny head off to see the place. Though it’s a dump, it’s the only place near the hotel with enough room, so they settle in.

Unfortunately, things start to go downhill when one of the cat owners ends up dead from suspected poisoning. With a storm raging, no cell service, no internet, and no way to contact the police, Maggie and Lenny are forced to make an unofficial investigation into the death. But as the bodies begin to pile up, things turn even more grim. Can Maggie and Lenny solve the murders of the cat owners, or are they the next to die?

This book is so suspenseful and funny. With a closed off area, no way to look up information, and no way to contact the cops, this book is one of the most intriguing of the series. The tight timeline also plays a huge role in amping up the tension, yet it is interspersed with the familiar Movie Club Mystery humor that makes the series so delicious. If you’ve read any of the other books, Apocalypse Meow will be a treat. This book will make you laugh and keep you at the edge of your seat at the same time. Highly recommended.

I love this Movie Club Mysteries series and book 7 is just as great at the ones that came before it. In this homage to Agatha Christie, P.I. partners Maggie and Lenny are trapped in a hotel with a bunch of cat show contestants (feline and their human companions) and have to figure out who the murderer is. Like the other books, I found myself enjoying the characters and the absurdity that follows Maggie’s life. The book is laugh-out-loud funny and full of charm. After a stressful week, I found myself completely immersed in this story and got in some relaxing reading hours.

Zara Keane, if you are reading this, I want more Liam in the next story please!

From the very first sentence, this is laugh out loud hilarious cat-astrophy of a cozy!! Maggie and Lenny are in the middle of a cat competition, but instead of a posh weekend they are in a run down excuse of a hotel during a bad storm. Power is out, the bodies are piling up, the action is non-stop, the suspects all have secrets, the felines are running amok. Will Maggie and Lenny be able to stop the killer before they all end up dead? Is there a copy-cat? Wonderful cozy in a wonderful series. The laughs alone are worth the read!
I received this book as an ARC and this review is my honest opinion of it. ENJOY!

Apocalypse Meow is full of disastrous occurrences and murder. Poor Lennie and Maggie are really tested in this very twisting mystery. Chair and wardrobe malfunctions do not lead to the corporate contract Maggie needed to keep her PI agency open. So she and Lenny are forced to accompany Quibbles the querulous cat to his final audition for Purrfect Paws cat food. They end up staying in a zero star hotel where the murders occur. With no power, many suspects and possible motives, will Maggie be able to find the killer? I could not put the book down. I had to know how it all resolved before I could sleep.

Another fun cozy mystery with Maggie and Lenny. They are hired to protect Quibble, the cat, during a competition. But there is more going on than it seems. The hotel everyone was to stay at has a sewage problem and they are all forced to stay at a small, older hotel that is a converted train station. The storm knocks out the power and roads are impassible. Then one of the group dies and not from natural causes. Maggie and Lenny investigate but the bodies start to pile up. Join Maggie and Lenny as they investigate and piece together the motive, means, and opportunity to find the culprit or culprits.

If you want a great read, I would recommend Apocalypse Meow (Movie Club Mysteries, #7). After Maggie and Lenny lose a potential client due to a "technical difficulty" they end up having to take Quibbles (the cat Maggie was hired to find in the last book) to a contest. There is no love lost between Maggie and Quibbles, but if it will help pay the bills... A last minute change in venue, owners of the cats dying and a storm, definitely make things interesting for Maggie and Lenny. Liam, Maggie's police (Garda) boyfriend shows up in this book as well and that just adds to the fun. Check it out for yourself, you will be glad you did.

This is the newest read from Zara Keane and what more can you ask for when there is cats and of course in true form to this series a dead body. This book was a pleasure to read as per usual there are points where you just can’t help but laugh at the situation. Lenny’s dress sense might just be one of those. But in all seriousness this book has it all. We get to meet Maggie’s cousin in this book who well let’s just say is a piece of work. And the cats omg priceless, Mr Quibbles is so accurately described as a spoiled but well loved cat. In the end the case is solved and there is a happy ending for Maggie and Liam.
