Emmanuelle de Maupassant is one of my all-time favorite authors. That being said, this is a wonderful collection of stories you won't want to put down.
1. The Gentleman's Club Emmanuelle de Maussapant has taken the values and beliefs of the 1800s and given life to the characters of "The Gentleman's Club" giving her readers an intriguing look at two sides of the same coin. Mademoiselle Noire is a hostess at the club of women who have a talent for sating and receiving pleasure for the gentleman who visits the establishment. Lady Maud Finchingfield is a woman of social standing and respectability with beliefs before her time. Not wanting to fit within the confines of society she struggles with the constraints surrounding her. Lord Henry McCaulay too is a product of his time. Being of wealth and privilege he is accustomed to getting what he wants and has very little regard or tolerance for the simpering females of his time other than the use of playthings at his leisure. There are no two ways about this. This is a must-read that will leave you with your mouth open and your mind racing with "OMG I didn't see that coming!!" Congratulations on a 5 star read that is just absolutely mesmerizing.
2. Italian Sonata As the story opens, we find that Castello di Scgliera lies in Southern Italy. Known to be the seat of disdainful nobility, the castle is only reached by day or night depending on the tide. Conte di Cavour, Lorenzo, is one of its residents. Gambling, whoring, drinking, and hunting are his birthright; a legacy he cultivates with enthusiasm. He is known for the eccentricity of his tastes and his reputation for debauchery is matched by his renown for bestowing gifts upon the ladies and young men who please him. Titillation, for the Conte di Cavour, lies more in the conquest than the feast. His half-sister, Lucrezia, had been rescued from the orphanage where she was raised, but the price of the rescue continued to rise. Maud and Henry, introduced in Book 1 "The Gentleman's Club" has just gotten married and is taking Henry's sister, Cecile, to travel through Europe with them during their honeymoon in hopes of broadening her education and introducing her to selected men as a potential husband. She is a young woman of her time, schooled to become wife and hostess to her husband, knowing embroidery, pianoforte, and singing, but unbeknownst to others, she has a penchant for wanting to travel and explore. Once again, Emmanuelle de Maupassant has given these characters such personalities they come to life before your eyes. The storyline is gripping and at times will keep you on the edge of your seat. In my opinion, she has another 5-star rating with this one and can't wait for the next.
3. Murder on the SS Leviathan It seems as if we've had an interminable wait to receive the final volume of "Noire" by Emmanuelle de Maupassant but fear not, it has arrived with the same note to detail in her previous books of this Victorian gothic mystery romance and it immediately proves itself well worth the wait. If you were ensnared with book one, 'The Gentleman's Club' and then became totally enraptured with book two, 'Italian Sonata', then be prepared to be enthralled with this, book three, 'Murder on the SS Leviathan'. I do have a penchant for dark, gritty, romances. That being said, Ms. De Maupassant takes her story into an earlier time where chivalry and innocence are the standards and yet the darkness of the plot seems to become a little more chilling. Her descriptive prose in her world-building brings the entire tale to life as if playing out in my mind. The book can be read as a standalone without losing any thought or feeling in the tale but I would recommend reading the first two. There have already been such tales and adventures up to now it will only enhance your reading pleasure this time. The story of Cecile, Lucrezia, Lance, Henry, and Maud, along with the side characters that have found a spot in my heart all seem to come together to make this a heart-melting romance while chaos and murder seem to surround them all. There is no other rating I can give but five stars and it's well worth each and every one of them.
Thanks to BookSprout for an ARC copy; this is my freely given opinion.
This was a trilogy package, that was previously released as the Noire trilogy, I believe. I had not read it yet, but it was definitely on my to-read list.
This started out as a story of Henry McCaulay, an aristocratic bachelor, with no interest in marriage, who visits his gentleman's club and becomes rather obsessed with a new entertainer there, Mademoiselle Noire. She enthralls and intrigues him with her very open and adventurous sexuality which pushes his boundaries too.
The first part of the trilogy seems at times to be two separate stories intertwined as well, as it is also the story of Maud Finchingfield, who is a bluestocking lady, raised in Italy, and visiting with her Aunt Isabella. Aunt Isabella is playing matchmaker with her niece, in the hopes of her marrying her son, an Italian count who sounds like quite the rake. Maud has no interest in this alliance and spurns him in a way he takes offence to.
Their two storylines seem quite discrete until Henry meets a friend of his sister, Cecile. This friend is Maud, who finds a way to express herself and indulge in her fantasies as Mademoiselle Noire. This first story was very sensual and about pushing sexual boundaries.
The second part of the trilogy is a continuation of Maud and Henry's story, as they travel to Italy, and they take his sister Cecile. She spends time with some of Maud's relatives, to give the couple their privacy. This story is more about the cousin, the Count, and his half sister, Lucrezia. Here we see more of the Count and his personality which is quite dark, and twisted. He is very manipulative and controlling of his relatives, including his sister, and turns stalking and seducing Cecile into a game for them all. This story has a much more dark and gothic turn, including incest, madness, and murder.
The third story takes place on a ship, the Leviathan, and is about Maud, Henry, Lucrezia, and Cecile, and is also quite dark and gothic, involving some rather twisted relationships, and murder again.
I quite enjoyed this trilogy, and dark twistiness of it. I did feel that the first story laid out the relationship of Maud and Henry, and set them up for some of the twists of their relationship later on well, but it felt a bit disconnected to the other two stories for me. The latter two were much more classic gothic. I do wonder what drove Maud to behave as she did, in terms of her sexual exploration, and the tension it would have/could have put on her relationship with Henry. Was she just exploring? Was she trying to push him? What was her motivation - or is there a darkness to her that was evident in her cousin, the Count? There was quite a stark difference in the innocence of Cecile versus the natures of the other characters which was marked, and made for interesting relationship dynamics in the stories as well, especially in the games the Count and Lucrezia were playing. Some parts of this gave me some of that same feeling I had when I first read Flowers in the Attic years ago, especially that second story, and the references to the various relationships in the Counts family history.
ADULT Historical Victorian Romance💕 and Adventure. Three novel box set with the same characters throughout. ******** The Gentlemen's Club🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 aka Forbidden Desire. Dangerous Liaisons💋💔
1898 England. Wealthy men in a private room in their private club are being entertained by Madame Noire, and her associates. Men of the era can debauch women without consequence..
Proper ladies must be chaste and careful to never give even a hint of impropriety. Double Standard!
The private area of the club is an upper class brothel. This novel is a prequel to the second book and has the same characters. Cecile is the younger virgin sister of Henry. Henry is a wealthy debauched nobleman who is infatuated with Madame Noire. Maud is a young woman who prefers science and nature to anything else. She also hides a huge secret! Her great aunt Isabella is a cousin to the deviant Conte, Lorenzo, and his step sister, Lucrezia. What a twisted and tangled web!
ARC Provided by Booksprout🌱 This opinions expressed here are my own fault! ************ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Italian Sonata aka Forbidden Temptation. The Greedy Wolf🐺🍆🌋👋Gets Bitten
Italy, Circa1899 The Conte Lorenzo di Cavour🐺🍆🌋👋 is a sexual deviant, born in or around 1860. Like his father before him, he's an extremely handsome and well put together man, a man who knows he is gorgeous and very sexual, and very attractive to women. Lorenzo🐺🍆🌋👋 has debauched hundreds of young women, if not a thousand, from wives and heiresses, to chamber maids, with nary a hint of conscience. His butler, Serpico👹🍆🌋, is in the middle of all his exploits, joining in and even procuring young men for his master on occasion. There is no type of sexual contact or type of BDSM experience he won't try!
Now in his 40s, he is starting to think about an heir to inherit his title and all the land, castles, and riches that go along with it. His half sister Lucrezia, is much younger, but just as debauched. The two make a bet between themselves about Cecile💃💋, the virgin sister of a newly married British nobleman, Henry. She accompanies Henry and his wife, Maud, to visit with the Conte and his Aunt Agatha, while they tour Italy. The bet is which of the two, sister or half brother, will be the first to seduce and debauch the fair and naive, Cecile💃💋.
This tale is extremely well written and in the almost poetic prose of the period. I enjoyed the elegant writing as much as the tale of a very dirty, baaaad naaasssty man, a wolf🐺🍆🌋👋 who preys on and debauches young women💃 without a care in the world for the devastation he leaves behind. It's all a game to him, a game he always wins.
This book📑 is definitely XXX all the way through!
ARC Provided by Booksprout 🌱 Opinions Expressed here are entirely my own fault! ************ Forbidden Seduction 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Lisbon 1899 Lucrezia and Cecile, her brother Henry, the Earl, and his wife Maud, are aboard the SS Leviathan, a passenger steam ship on their way to Brazil. Maud's maid is murdered. ********
Great box set! I highly recommend! Some of the books are XXX! ARC Provided for this box set by Booksprout 🌱 I also got this ebook from Amazon 📚with KU.
I read an ARC of this box set and didn't realize it was a box set until I started reading. I was pleasantly surprised because all three stories were very good.
Most of the time when I read box sets, whether by one author or an anthology, there is at least one story that doesn't suit my fancy. In this case, that is NOT happening. All three of these stories are obviously adult, in fact they are Adult Victorian Steam, imo. All three have a cast of characters that are very well developed, and all three have interesting plots, all of which were plotted out well.
I need to send a congratulations to the author for three books that blended with each other perfectly. She did a wonderful job with continuity, which is extremely difficult to do when you are talking about carrying a story across three books, especially when the three books are in a box set so that the reader will notice anything that isn't right.
Recommend this book to anyone who love luscious, steamy Victorian sex with a lot of suspense thrown in for excitement. :-)
Vol. 1 Forbidden Desire: The Earl of Rancliffe was captivated by the Hostess of the night's event at club Simons and even though she humiliated him in front of the other men in the room he wanted her nonetheless. Mademoiselle Noire seems to have her eyes on Henry and draws him out. Days later she calls him to her and even though he has to wait to see her he doesn't care. Mademoiselle is shocking and he loves every moment. They have several adventures before they realize there is something special between them. They both give fair chase. Interesting storyline and characters. Drama, mystery, adventure, danger, and lover. Vol. 2 Forbidden Temptation: Henry and Maud decide to take Lady Cecile with them on their honeymoon so she could become accustomed to other parts of the world. She meets a Texan on the train and is quite taken with him but he was going on a tour to several cities for mapping out railways and on to other countries. They take a ship to Paris and travel through France and Maud gives her some lessons and interesting information as well as books to read. Maud even took them to Moulin Rouge. They travel on to Italy where Maud and Henry are very active. Lorenzo di Cavour has his own plans for Maud and her husband so he sets a task for Serpico. He gets a wonderful surprise in Lady Cecile, he and his sister make a bet. Interesting storyline and characters. Adult content. Drama, suspense, mystery, danger, violence, murder, and love. Vol. 3 Forbidden Seduction: Cecile and Lucrezia are close in separate ways that will make Cecile see her in a different light even though she knows that Lucrezia was never loved and that their friendship is important to them both while waiting for the other passengers to board the ship for Rio to Henry's new job the Texan Mr. Robinson is a passenger and something in her heart is quite happy about seeing him again Lucrezia is not very happy at the look of her friend when Cecile introduces them and Lucrezia wants to occupy her time strange things are happening on the ship and then a woman sitting at their table the night before is killed and poor Cecile has doubts. After that strange things are happening too often and only on their side of the vessel so Henry assigns Lance to guard his sister and her companion the Captain does not see it their way at all. Adult content, drama, suspense, mystery, murder, danger, love, and HEA. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
As a lover of paranormal stories and historical romances full of secrets and intrigues, seeing the name of Maupassant called my attention to the book. The reading absorbed me with the strong content and at the same time the intriguing plot. I liked the flowery language of the narratives and descriptions that certainly leave nothing to the imagination but the way they were written distract the sensibility and stimulated my interest and curiosity, which was much. Love these stories that make me open my eyes wide and make me think! I'm glad I was able to read all three books together! Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received free from Booksprout. Forbidden Desires Swept up in the raw pleasures of the flesh, Lord Henry McCauly confronts his innermost desires by experiencing a situation where he was not in control. Passion and lust bind him to Madame Noire, a mysterious woman with deep secrets who does not submit to anyone's expectations or control. This first book kept me asking questions and fearing for McCauly. What a way to keep me interested! Mystery, carnal satisfaction and a Miss who was not what she seemed, not at all. Forbidden Temptation The list of names grows; Maude, Radcliff, Cecile, Lucrecia and Lorenzo and likewise the plot begins to get sinister, the villain takes the stage and what seemed to be the enjoyment of a honeymoon and a trip for Cecile turns into a nightmare. Lots of action and suspense with what at first glance seemed like the author's tendency to present ghosts in castles, but no. Nerve-wracking scenes, lots of passion both tempting and unwanted, and sad situations that got me thinking. The character of Radcliff interested me a lot with his way of thinking and evaluating the situations that were presented to him. Dangerous Desire A boat trip seems to be the recipe to leave behind the horrible experiences lived by everyone, but it seems that as in horror series, the past is often part of the present again. Mysterious deaths, secrets coming to light, reflections on life, acceptance, romance, violence and heated passion. The anguish begins to disappear after so many emotions and ravages in the self-esteem and confidence of the characters. I liked that the experiences had made the protagonists wiser.
These Three Books, Forbidden Desire, Temptations, and Seduction I suggest to read in order. Not having done that before I feel you can not get the true enjoyment from the stories. By starting with the first one and then moving on you see the progression and and watch the characters evolve throughout and are more caught up in the tale. All enjoyable tales on the edgy dark side . Forbidden Desire: Begins this series with a Lord looking for his Mystery Women. The Lady has many secrets of her own. Plenty happening with double lives and many secrets and desires. Lord Henry McCaulay Earl of Rancliffe did not want to marry. Lady Maude Finchingfield lived with her Great Aunt as a companion. Only she was keeping her life of secrets to herself. Who was this Mystery Mademoiselle Noire ? Plenty of mystery and excitement to keep you captivated in this tale. Forbidden Temptation: Book two starts off with a honeymoon and Rancliffe’s sister Lady Cecile coming along . They go to the family castle in Italy, which is filled with darkness , secrets, and mystery. This story is not only a continuation of Maude and Rancliffe , but also Claire and Lucretia and Lorenzo. Much happens around these characters that are all tied into the family and mystery surrounding them all. You will not be disappointed. Dangerous Desire: This story wraps up the series with a trip on the high seas filled with mystery and murder. Family and friends and old acquaintances and pasts that haunts are just some things that are involved in this storyline. Lady Cecile and Lance Robinson the Texan had met before on a train are now together again on the Leviathan. The Journey of this story is suspenseful , emotionally and with the overlapping of the characters storyline it will keep you totally interested.

This is the full trilogy and each book is different. The first “Forbidden Desire” is an erotic Victorian tale following the relationship between Maud, Lady Finchingfield, the new unconventional “Mademoiselle Noire” of the gentleman’s club Brockford’s and Lord Henry McCaulay,, the Earl of Rancliffe. It s a little wordy but that is not a bad thing and I found it completely engrossing and it doesn’t shy away from its subject.
The second “Forbidden Temptation” is a Victorian Gothic tale. Maud and Henry are now married and on their honeymoon accompanied by Henry’s sister Cecile. When they reach Italy Cecile is fascinated by the Castello di Scogliera and its glamorous inhabitants: the Conte di Cavour and Lucrezia, his beautiful half-sister. However everything is not as it seems. The castle appears to be haunted and the siblings have their own agenda. A tale full of mystery, suspense and dark romance.
The third “Forbidden Seduction” is more of a voyage of discover. Set during the transAtlantic crossing to Brazil Lord and Lady McCaulay together with the earl’s sister, Cecile, and her companion, Lucrezia find that even on the high seas they cannot escape the hand of the di Cavours. This book will keep you reading and turning the page to find out what happens next. There are many twists and turns in the story before you reach the end.

Book One Extremely steamy and very well written. Two people with dark desires drawn to each other navigate their feelings for each other.
Book Two Cecile, Lord McCaulay’s sister is now an integral part of this story. Henry and Maude’s relationship evolves and Cecile spends time in a dark and gloomy castle in Italy. This story is also steamy but brings with it a dark character that is intent on revenge. Maude and Henry’s dark sexual tendencies lead to peril. There is plenty of danger, lies and a mystery to be solved.
Book Three Cecile leaves the castle unscathed along with one of it’s inhabitants, Lucrezia. Traveling on their transatlantic crossing to Rio de Janeiro, Henry, Maude, Cecile and Lucrezia hope to recover from their previous bad tidings in Italy. With no such luck murders and mystery seem to follow them. Henry enlists Lance, a previous acquaintance of Cecile’s to help him protect the ladies from harm.
I really enjoyed listening to this trilogy. It’s a story of how you can find love in the most unusual places, evil a plenty, revenge, mysteries and true friendship through sacrifice. You can buy all books separately but it is best read as a trilogy to get the full scope of the story and how it all pans out. Please be advised the first two stories are dark but integral to the storyline. Wonderfully written and narrated. Lucky enough to have the ebook and the audiobook.
Dangerous Desire is a trilogy of gothic stories all set around the same family. These are historical standalone stories that are interlinked, and this audiobook entertainingly brings all three together.
Book one introduces Henry and Maud, both of whom are leading secret double lives. This is a bold, sensual story, and not for the faint-hearted. I found this to be an intriguing and engrossing listen. Set in 1800s London, I definitely felt drawn into this complex world created by the alluring Madam Noir!!
Book two has a different feel to it. This is an atmospheric novel of intrigue, suspense and revenge. Cecile (younger sister of Henry) accompanies Henry and Maud on a trip to an Italian castello where disturbing and strange happenings kept me absorbed and engaged throughout.
Book three is the concluding novel in this audio, and is best described as a mystery romance. Set aboard a ship sailing to South America, Cecile, Henry and Maud encounter danger, threats and murder! Along the way Cecile encounters the steadfast and swoony Lance where their relationship blossoms into more.
I really enjoyed all these stories, and the way they were interwoven worked really well for me. I enjoyed the characters. They were complex, flawed, and intriguing while also feeling real and believable. Excellent narration from Gareth Davies brought this audiobook to life.
I did enjoy this trilogy and found each to be an entertaining read. Forbidden Desires This introduced the characters of Henry, Earl of Rancliffe and his sister, Cecile, and Lady Maud Finchingfield and how they met. It also gives a glimpse into how they like to live their lives. The Conte, Lorenzo,is also introduced, which has a connection in the second book. Forbidden Temptation This takes place mainly in Italy at the home of the Conte and his half sister, Lucretia. The Conte, Lorenzo is determined to have his revenge on Maud for an action that happened in London. He also has designs on using Cecile. Although, Cecile has led a sheltered life, she is aware of what she wants. There are secrets within his castle that are eventually revealed and a fitting comeuppance. This has quite an atmospheric setting. Murder on the S S Leviathan I did like the character of Cecile, I thought she was very patient and understanding with her friend, Lucretia. Lance Robinson, is a handsome man, who is very protective of those he cares about. He has plans for his future which doesn’t include marriage yet. There is a murderer to uncover and the reason why and the beginning of a romance. I received a copy via Booksprout and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Dangerous Desire, the complete trilogy. A thrilling story and I loved every part of it!
Book #1. Forbidden Desire: I loved this story in which Mademoiselle Noir and the Earl of Rancliffe meet. It’s hot and has a surprising ending.
Book #2. Forbidden Temptation: Their story continues in this part but it’s really the story of Cecile, Rancliffe’s (Henry) sister. The newlyweds are staying at a castle in Italy. And there are Lorenzo and his (half)sister Lucretia to teach Cecile a few things. But Lorenzo is not what he appears to be…. This was a hot part of the story. A bit darker than the first part.
Book #3. Forbidden Seduction: The conclusion of this trilogy, and the part I liked best. It is full of suspense. After their scare the lot are travelling to Brazil and Cecile spots a familiar face in the crowd. It is Lance, travelling to Argentina. This part kept me at the edge of my seat. I loved the happy ending.
This review is based on the audiobook. And narrator Gareth J. Davies did an excellent job, as usual. The sound effects brought the story even more to life.
A trilogy that should be read in order. Forbidden Desires has some explicit sex scenes (BDSM) so beware. Henry and Maud’s story take up most of book one. The characters in the book have secrets and demons and debauchery and in Lorenzo’s case, no conscience that makes for a great gothic story. Tormented souls that exist on the edge of darkness. In book 2 Henry’s sister Cecile, an innocent, is taken along on Henry and Maud’s wedding trip and is thrust into the dark world of the Conte Di Cavour. Her infatuation with Lorenzo is short lived when he shows his true colors. She questions her judgement in book 3 when she meets Lance Robinson, a Texan she met briefly on a train in book 2. She never forgot him or the spark she felt. The voyage has danger, vengeance and death but in the end there is a HEA. This is one of the best gothic story’s I’ve read.
I was given an advance copy of this ARC review and am giving my honest opinion.
There are some scenes that could be disturbing to some people so a warning that this book might not be for everyone, and it is definitely for mature readers. At first, I was confused in reading the first story as it kept going between Henry's story and Maude's story, but things eventually sorted themselves out. This trilogy is full of lots of twists and turns, angst and suspense. I wanted to finish it all in one sitting but had to settle for finishing it in two. I was kept on the edge of my seat between the hotness of the assignations and the mystery surrounding other events that occur. By the end of the third story, I was thoroughly entrenched in all of the happenings between Henry, Maude, Henry's sister, his sister's friend and their acquaintance from America. These stories will have your heart racing from either desire or intrigue or both.

In the blurb for this box set, we are told that there are three enthralling historical romances from the 'Dangerous Desire' dark Victorian trilogy, laced with scandal, mystery and intrigue. The books, I believe, were released previously but as I hadn't read any of them I decided to download it and see if it lived up to its advertising, let me tell you it didn't only live up to it exceeded my expectations. The books contained in this box set are:-
I'm not going to give you blow by blow reviews, but I will say that I enjoyed each story, I liked the author's writing style and how she built her characters, every one of them is well drawn and distinct. I love the settings and the descriptions of the surroundings where the stories are taking place making it easy to put yourself there and watch, rather like a fly on the wall.
Fans of historical romance will not be disappointed.
I listened to an audiobook of this trilogy. I enjoyed the story, but could listen to the narrator read the newspaper, a boring business report, or pretty much anything.. He’s that good.
These books ar both sweet and hot. They revolve around true love and finding your soul mate, and good wins over evil.
There are some shipboard murders, BDSM, and multiple partners, if such things are important for you to know.
The writing is very good, but as I said, the narration is excellent. If I had a complaint about this book, it was the periodic intrusion of music into the narration. It didn’t help or add anything to the story.
I received the audiobook from the author for free. I thank her for her generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
I have read the three books separately last year. Having them in a bundle is great. In my opinion it is best to read the books back to back as the story - in a way - continues. The first book was for me a first in this genre, and sometimes this style was quite surprising. Some of the actions of the heroine are definitely not my choice. However overall it was an interesting read. The second and third book are more adventurous and mysterious. Although the darker kind of romances is not my first choice I found this a great series of books. I have read many books of this author and I can absolutely recommend her books.

Emmanuelle de Maupassant definitely leads you through an emotional roller-coaster. I am so glad that this was a boxset because it allows you to find a conclusion to all the stories . The story of Rancliffe and Maud was a bit confusing at first but as you keep reading the confusion is cleared. In the second book, I had mixed emotions about Lorenzo. You see him as this womanizer but also someone who may at one have been a good brother if not for his corrupt father. Finally book three pulls it all together into a nice package.
I like for readers to know the heat level of book. This one is a sizzling 5/5.

This is a definitely ADULT erotic trilogy. If BDSM or Menage offend you, do NOT waste your money on this set.
Forbidden Desire: Allow an afternoon for this definitely adult example of Victorian erotica in which BDSM forms the basis for the desire by Henry for Mademoiselle Noire.
Forbidden Temptation: Allow most of a day for this definitely ADULT tale of decadence and debauchery.
Forbidden Seduction: Set aside a day for this ADULT travelogue detailing the journey of Lord and Lady Rancliffe, Lady McCaulay, and Miss Lucrezia di Cavour from Lisbon to Rio de Janiero, with spoilers for the earlier books in the series.

Three interesting and engaging stories, which are rather like episodes of a TV drama which feature different characters from the cast. One rather endearing character, Cecile, is the prime focus of the second and third stories. All are rather dark and gothic in feel, told in a way which reminded me of late 19th and early 20th century stories, but are well-paced and fairly “snappy”.
A lot of the characters are flawed and obsessive, some even depraved and rather predatory, but all are plausible and have interesting roles in the stories. Cecile makes a nice contrast, being more naïve, but is bright and has a strong personality. Good character development, plenty of tension, high drama, plot twists, erotic and steamy scenes galore, and a satisfactory ending.
Enjoyed reading the trilogy Dangerous Desire. This trilogy was great. This subgenre is new to me and the first book really made an impact. Do read them in order so you know everyone’s backstory. The descriptions in all three books bring the locations to life with lots of little details so you can picture the characters and their settings. The plots are very interesting and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. Each book could be read as a standalone but I enjoyed following the characters through all three books. This author is now on my favorite’s list and I’ve bought another of her books that I’m enjoying as well! Recommended!
Forbidden Desire introduces us to Maud, who is a lady by day, but a controlling performer at the club by night. Henry finds her fascinating and wants to serve her. An erotic tale.
Forbidden Temptation has Maud and Henry married and setting off on an European tour complete with Henry's sister. Cecile stops off at the Castello and becomes involved with the debauched inhabitants, who are having a competition - who will have Cecile first. Cecile discovers a new side to herself.
Forbidden Seduction has our characters taking a sea trip, but then murder happens.

Emmanuelle de Maupassant put mystery, danger, and love into the Dangerous Desire trilogy. Forbidden Desire introduces Lord Henry McCaulay, the Earl of Rancliffe and Lady Maud Finchingfield. Their paths cross several times before Henry realizes he has been lusting after an acquaintance of his sister’s. Their story continues into Forbidden Temptation. New trouble comes into the pair's path, once Maud returns to her homeland. Mystery surrounds Maud’s cousin’s family. They believe to have left the danger behind in Forbidden Seduction.

Not a historical book fan until now... But then I didn't fancy Vikings either but this remarkable author soon persuaded me otherwise & I confess I got hooked on this deliciously dark, some might say deviant stories set in the Victorian era. Detailed & descriptive erotica at its' best. The first book is set in London, the second took us to Europe & the third is set on a cruise ship on a transatlantic crossing. Each was quite unique although the second book resonated as I remembered with fondness my trips to Paris, Rome, Milan, & Venice. Highly recommended. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
Hot sauce good. This group of stories was ever so steamy, very very naughty, with a bit of taboo subjects thrown into the mix. Now these books will not be for everyone, but they were well-written and splendid pieces that I really enjoyed reading. I became very invested in the characters stories and the way the author blended them all in was so well done. This is a book that I would be happy to recommend to some of my friends. I know they would like this trilogy. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
Emmanuelle de Maupassant is one of my favorite authors. This set consists of three historical romance novels in the Regency era: Forbidden Desire - Forbidden Temptation and Forbidden Seduction. All of them are worth reading for those who enjoy dark, erotic romance and suspense. I am really happy to have enjoyed this box set. I received a free copy of this trilogy via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have read all these books by Emmanuelle de Maupassant. As they have been published.
The three books are a range of ADULT Gothic romances.
I love reading books by Emmanuelle, her detailed descriptions, and characters that are so realistic, I just have to keep reading until the very last page.
These three books together in a box set is a very good option. You can then read them in sequence.

I totally loved this collection of stories! The wonderfully drawn characters and intricate, twisting plots kept me reading into the wee, small hours of the morning. I simply couldn't put it down!
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this terrific collection via Booksprout and couldn't resist buying it for myself. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Gothic-style, wickedly enticing romance!
Dangerous Desire. This collection of stories was very interesting. I was surprised at the stories because I was not expecting the storylines, but enjoyed the books. I was curious once I began the first book and had to read all three. The characters were mysterious, suspenseful, and romantic as well as steamy sexy. A great read.
