Dahlia Jarboe and her sister, Shepherd Security team member Brielle Jarboe-Sherman, have a history and family drama that drove a wedge between them, leaving them estranged. They each have their own distorted views on past events and on each other. Like always, the truth lies somewhere in between each of their thoughts and memories. Complicating their relationship further are the many secrets Dahlia has kept over the years. But when her past and the present collide, threatening Dahlia, Brielle doesn't hesitate to make sure the team goes to help.
Michael ‘Bubbles’ Cooper is thrilled with his life and the opportunities he is getting with Shepherd Security. But he knows that he is the new guy, and he needs to prove himself. What he doesn't realize is that he needs to trust himself and his instincts too. Breaking the rules with a romantic entanglement is the last thing on his mind, but he soon learns that sometimes the attraction between two people is just stronger than any reasons for rejecting it.
Shepherd Security recruits only the best. They can protect someone in trouble like no other because they work in the shadows, invisible, and outside the system where the rules don’t apply–just the oath they took. They don’t exist. That’s also why they can break any suspect and can get answers out of anyone accused. That’s when they’re called in, when someone must be protected at all costs, or when answers must be obtained, by any means necessary.
Warning, this story is realistic, with adult language and content on the way to the HEA. This is book11 in the Shepherd Security Series. Even though the story does continue from book to book, each is a stand-alone story and can be read without reading the prior book(s), but they are best enjoyed in order.
Margaret Kay is a wife, a mother of two adult children, a grandmother, a pet lover who makes her own dog food from scratch, and a writer of Military Romance Novels.
Margaret's husband proudly served 8 years in the United States Navy. She's a veteran of more than a few deployments as the spouse who took care of the family while her military member served halfway around the world.
Margaret has given us a bit of everything to make this a page turner. There is action, suspense, drama, danger, tension, angst, emotions, secrets, and a hell of a lot more. Twists and turns abound that you don’t see coming.
The action starts right from the beginning and keeps on coming. It is also a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but this is one series you will get addicted too. It did take me a while to get into the story and used to Margarets storytelling but once I did it is easy to enjoy the stories.
Make sure to start at the beginning as characters do cross over. The stories are told through multiple POV’s as you really get inside the characters heads and know what they are thinking and learn who they are better. These wonderful characters are well written, complex, and fully realised. These alpha men and women are saviours and will do anything to protect those who they love and those who need it to fight against evil and those who wrong others.
There is religious overtones which often had me wondering if I would continue, and the sexual references are left more to the imagination, but the stories soon outweighed all that.
I usually love this author, but for some reason, I just could not get into the love story between Michael and Dahlia. It just seemed like a random physical connection that never got much more in depth. I also wish Michael would have found his confidence earlier in the book. On another note, I completely understand wanting to set the scene for the reader but the stereotypical way you described people from Louisiana was really not needed. You can say they are country or different but the line about Michael’s IQ dropping after a conversation with someone at “the Big Lake” was just uncalled for. I don’t know why this disturbed me since I am not from Louisiana. It just seems to play into the stereotype that people in the south are ignorant.
Tribal princess Dahlia Jarboe is suspected of murdering her friend, the chief’s son and a deputy on the reservation after they shared a night out. Dahlia calls her estranged sister, Brielle who gets her husband and the team involved. Michael ‘Bubbles’ Cooper’s excited to finally be on the team though it’s only part time right now and thrilled to be picked for Dahlia’s case.
As Michael and his three teammates dig into the murder case, they throw a handful of suspects and associated cases in the sheriff’s lap, Dahlia and Michael’s attraction becomes glaring to the team. Unfortunately, the team succeeds in rounding up plenty minions but has to leave before their shadowy leader is found. Just the way it was planned. Rating: 3.75stars
This book is a really great read. Dahlia, Brielle’s sister, is in trouble in Louisiana. The Delta team is sent plus Michael, is sent to keep her from being arrested for a friend’s murder. They encounter typical Louisiana weather (Louisiana girl here and it’s miserable in the summer and fall) a lazy parish sheriff, a beautiful Coushatta Indian Princess (Dahlia), suspicious hospital personnel, and quite a few low lives. Michael and and Dahlia have an immediate attraction and his kindness helps her reveal a hidden secret. I loved seeing their relationship grow and a possible reconciliation with her sister. The team just needs to find the evidence to clear her from charges. This book is action packed, suspenseful and steamy. Another must read.
Dahlia lives on a Indian reservation protecting her father from a situation from years ago. Eddie, a friend and cop, was killed the night they were out and having a good time. Dahlia calls her sister, Brielle, who is married to one of the Shepherd Security operator because the police are saying she killed Eddie. They would not believe her that Eddie and her were not an item and did not kill him. A team is sent to Dahlia to see what is going on. This is where Michael and Dahlia meet and where their story begins. The book was good and they were on several mission during this book.
A little different than the previous books in the series. The detail of the Native American rites is beautiful. Without giving spoilers, the story of Brielle and Sherman continues with Brielle’s sister. The final motive did take me by surprise - I didn’t suspect that at all. While not my favorite book of the series it did deliver.
This book is the story of Michael”Bubbles” Cooper and Dahlia Jarboe. It is always interesting how Margaret manages to have the characters from the other books interact. Her stories are always believable because you hear of the things that she writes about on the news. Margaret it a gifted author. I can’t wait for her next book to come out.
I have read 11 books in this series and an looking forward to reading more. I also watched the one and a half minute video on YouTube. I wasn't really too impressed with the video because it seemed too unrealistic, that's all I'm gonna say about that. IMHO, don't judge the series based on the video; the books are SO much better.
I binged read all the books in this series. They were all good and kept me wanting to read the next one. One “flaw” if you could call it that, is in this last book the sexual scenes were just a little overboard and they didn’t need to be. It did not add anything to the story and it just detracted actually. Very good series
Dahlia, Brielle's sister is in trouble... Help comes in the form of a team with Lambchop leading Danny, Sloane and Michael. Action... lots of action... and of course a few twists and could not stop reading until I finished it!
I couldn't wait to read this story and of course Iam not disappointed! Iam glad Dahlia and Briel overcome their issues with each other and got their happy ending! Michael come out at the end as totally badass guy. Love it! ❤
my rating: 4 stars. I have enjoyed this series tremendously ... but that being said, the stories are all starting have the same theme. It is starting to be predictable! I do hope Ms Kay shakes the next stories up a bit.
And another great book in this series. I love this series and it comes with danger , angst , love and hot alpha men and strong women. I love that Bubbles got his HEA and that Dahlia got her dream in the end and her sister back in her life.
Another masterpiece from Margaret! While her books are listed in the Romance category, I think of them as Military/Action books with a healthy dose of Spicy Romance. As always they are best read in order, but all are must reads.
I was honestly surprised how my view of Dahlia changed after learning her side of the back story. How her sisters facts had colored our views. The book really stayed with me. And I hope that there are more books in this series to come.
Just love this crew and family. Beautiful connections and fierce passion for each other and their future. You can’t mess with them. Thank you for these stories. I look forward to spending time with each and every time.
This was an intense, suspenseful, and intriguing story with many unexpected twists and turns. It's certainly one that you're not going to want to miss! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
I enjoyed this but not as much as the previous books mainly because I found it quite slow and because it kept talking about Michael being new and inexperienced and I found this off putting.
This is Michael (Bubbles) story. He's trying to prove himself to stay on the team. He and some of the team go to the bayou to help Dahlia, Brielle is sister. When she's suspected of murdering her friend Eddie. There's plenty of action, suspense, danger and heat. Great read. HEA.
I loved this book. The story had some twists and turns, which I enjoy reading. The characters in this series are always interesting. I love the way they interact with each other. A few sexy interludes don’t hurt either. I highly recommend this series.
