A Warrior's Curse is the third entry in the bestselling epic fantasy series, Saga of the Known Lands. A grimdark adventure into a world of magical creatures and deadly threats. But against such threats as they face, will even their significant power be enough? Come and find out now!
They have been lying in wait. The moment of revenge now arrived. Infiltrating its kingdom. Puppeteering its king. While the greatest warrior of an age at last lies broken.
Great peril & action in this dark 3rd instalment! Awesome characters. Loving this series!
Once again, a slow build-up brings the reader to an exciting and crazy climax! No reader will be disappointed.
Shortly after Matt has been installed on the throne he becomes unbearable to be around. He even treats his friends and father, Cutter/Prince Bernard horribly, eventually exiling him.
While Cutter and his brother Feledias try to reconcile their differences in order to save their kingdom Maeve, Chall and Priest work to find out what has happened to Matt. And, all five are in great danger at every turn.
You did it again Jacob Peppers!
I just realized I skipped a book! I shall go back and read the 2nd book shortly. No wonder I was a little confused at the beginning of this one.
I always commend the author for writing. It’s a great story. I just don’t think it needs so many books / filler story-lines. It’s like watching a two hr movie vs. an 8pt series. Some stories just need a 2hr movie. Either way I’m reading on in the series. Thx for writing.
Not as good as the first two but passable escapism. Some inconsistencies in the character building. Maybe a filler book? Ill finish the series tho. Enjoyable.
This book was good, but in my opinion, didn't reach the same height as the previous.
By the end of the 2nd book we know all is not right in the capital. The Fey have seemingly infested the castle, and are manipulating events for an upcoming war, or siege against the residents of the known lands. Matt has been crowned the new King, and is settling into his role. However, it's not his role. No, by now we know that Matt has a hitchhiker in the form of Emma from their previous adventure, and Emma is the one ruling in his stead.
As the reader we know Matt is not okay, and by extension the kingdom. This book follows our intrepid band of heroes unraveling the mystery of what's wrong with Matt, and to weed out the source of "the conspiracy" within the capital. It isn't bad, but it can be frustrating at times that our main cast of Cutter/Bernard, Chall, Maeve, and Priest are having a hard time piecing things together that Matt isn't acting like himself. Yes it would be unbelievable if they figured it out so quickly, but you would think that their previous encounter with the Fey creatures at the small town in the previous book that they would wonder if Fey magic was somehow involved with Matt's behavior.
On the plus side this book finally starts to show more dynamic between the characters. Specifically I'm a fan of Cutter interacting with his brother Feledias. The first two books we are to believe that Feledias has an unending hatred for Cutter that can only be stopped by his older brother's death. In this book we find that Feledias, and Cutter; Yes they have some baggage between them due with the origin of Matt's conception, but above all they're still brothers. When Cutter speaks with someone they typically acknowledge that he's the "Crimson Prince," and show him a degree of respect in the form of fear. Our other heroes Chall, Maeve, and Priest; they speak with Cutter in a familiar tone, but still a hint of deference due to his princely status. Feledias? Nah. He'll call Cutter a dumbass, or P.O.S. punk just like a younger brother would. It's not a big part of the story, but it's a refreshing dynamic that I didn't know was missing until it was here.
That being said this is still a great book, and a great installment in the series. It just came off the heels of a superb second book that I couldn't consume fast enough.
This book give a lot more time to the other people in Cutter's gang and, while it's good to know about where these characters come from and see them struggle without Cutter's strength, overall the story suffers a bit because of it.
Cutter is the driving force for the series. It's his decisions that have put the Known Lands in the position it's in. Having him take a bit of a backseat was a let down. The overall idea for the series is still great, but sometimes characters miss the obvious and problems that were once extremely important suddenly become irrelevant. That leads to a bit of frustration for the reader.
Matt is king, but the kingdom is a mess. The elves are quietly taking over the towns and cities. The princes, Bernard and Feledias, are not well-liked or trusted by the people, and something is wrong with Matt. He’s not acting like himself.
Interesting story, but I skimmed past some parts that slowed the ending.
Fave scenes: Ned arriving at the stables, the old serving woman, the assassin on the roof, and the stretcher.
Cutter and his band of friends notice that newly crowned Matt is acting strangely. The kingdom is suffering as a war with the Fey is still looming. A conspiracy is afoot with an attempted assassination of Cutter and friends. Soon they are being hunted and Cutter is attempting to figure out who is behind it.
An extremely well crafted, well balanced story, with at least one strong female lead. The path of redemption is one in which we all have a stake. Our heroes have never given up their search for justice and redemption, at least with each other, and, hopefully, themselves.
I’m a picky reader. I’d rather put a book down and waste the money than to subject myself to subpar writing. I EXPECT my books to grab me and be a world that takes me away from my own. One I can’t wait to get back to so that I can find out what’s happening. This series has been that.
What is the point of writing half of a story and calling it a book? It's just cheating your audience. You seem to make a habit of this. Very poor treatment of your audience. If I couldn't get these books free, I wouldn't bother. Your use of language is pretty poor too.
The third book is a great continuation of the first two. Cutter and his friends are going to start another chapter in book four, I am certainly looking forward to reading it.
One of my favourite book series is Stephen King's The Dark Tower. This series is equally as good, high praise indeed. No spoilers from me, ever. Please don't jump in here, start at the very beginning and enjoy a fantastic ride.
I am loving this book series, I can't get enough. So much story telling and it is a pure joy to read. More world building, more heart ache, pain but really enjoyable moments too. Amazing how someone can write a book that gets better and better with each story. Roll on book 4 later.
Another fantastic book following the story of the other two. Action and strong character make this another story not too missed. I can’t wait for the next one.
I honestly read about 25%of the actual writings, due to the drawn out scenes. This entire book is over just a small span of time and it felt inconsistent.
the strongest aspect of this book is it welcomely expanded on cutter's crew. However, this book definitely had some pacing issues, as if he lost track of the main story for a bit.
Decent storyline but continuously repeating oneself about the characters. This continuous repetition of who the characters are is boring and forces me to speed read through full pages.
I loved the book. If you like twists and turns in a.book this is the one for you! The entire series is great, and I am ready for the next book in the series!
