North Taylor’s world was all about protecting his family; his stepbrother, Luke, and the rest of his Academy team. Letting anyone else close would require North’s approval, which hardly ever happens.
Until this girl crashes into their lives–and literally–into North’s arms. Sang is sweet and pretty, and seems nice enough. But for some reason, the team have been keeping her a secret. And they want North to do the same.
The whole team has turned their focus to be around this one girl. Why hasn’t the Academy been informed? Why is Mr. Blackbourne being kept in the dark about her? This isn’t protocol.
But then North learns about Sang’s terrible home life. How her family treats her is unimaginable. No wonder she needs them. And it might just take their entire team, a team who, through their own tragedies understands such things, to handle this one girl who needs them the most.
I like these little snippets of the vast background world involved with the series. North is the grumpy one, but his thoughts weren't just complaints, which was refreshing. He came across as trying to look out for everyone with a bit of sensibility and practical concerns. His 'voice' was captured perfectly. I will admit, it's been a really long time since I read Introductions, and I think the timeline all works out, but anything could have been thrown in there at this point and I wouldn't have noticed. There's been a lot of years in the middle, and it's only these little stories that keep those details fresh. (It's too many books at this point to commit to a reread.) We're running out of characters though, but next up is Dr Green.
I didn't like this one as much as the others but, I feel sorry for cl for messing up this series so epically, so I gave an extra star from the t o I was going to give.
North understands his role. Protector. Watch over his brother, help out their uncle, have his team's backs for Academy assignments. There's no room for uncertainty. Suddenly his carefully controlled world is upset. There's a new person in their group. A girl, Sang, and now she has everyone's attention. He doesn't understand why she hasn't been turned over to the Academy. There are rules to be followed. Then he meets her and everything shifts.
North is one of my two favorites but I didn't feel this captured what I loved about him from the beginning. Maybe it's because the writing style has changed so much over the past 2 years but the characters don't resonate like they once did. Their spark is gone.
can't BELIEVE we got a never-before-seen scene where they play trivial pursuit 😭 it was so perfect! and i loved that north was against uncle buying the church until he met sang and then it was suddenly "well she needs a safe place to hang out and she needs a way to earn money so 🤷♂️". he was such a goner for her in no time. this was a perfect addition to the series that really gives us a glimpse into north as a character.

CL Stone continues to grab the reader in her newest novella "Meeting Sang: North), part of her Academy series.
In this novella the reader gets North's first impressions when he meets the mysterious Sang. Having read all the prior books and novellas, it was nice to step back to the very beginning when all the Academy boys first met Sang. And it finally being my favorite, North, just made this novella even better.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this novella as well as the entire Academy series by CL Stone. Her characters are so well created, making readers beg for more stories.
I feel like this was entirely different from the actual series. Like the style of writing, and honestly, North himself doesn't seem to be like how he was. I don't know if it's because the books were released so far apart that they don't seem to be the same. Also, the part where they were observing the girl who stole North's wallet wasn't even part of the actual series, was she?
I love North. I love how he thinks, how protective of his family he is, how he is a good person, and I love his gruff, grumpy personality, too. What I love the most about him, though, is how strongly he loves Sang and his brothers and how he would do anything for them.
Ehhh.. I was disappointed that we didn't get the scene on the roof from North's perspective. This part of the series is more about the boys' backstories and relationships with each other than with Sang.
This is the one I had been waiting for! North is my favorite so I was so excited to get his POV novella of when he met Sang. I love when authors share other characters’ perspectives. 💖🖤💖🖤
I love this little series of books. North is one of my favorites and it’s great to read from his perspective about meeting Sang. Love him and can’t wait to read more.
This is a cute introduction to Sang and North. Even with North's personality. It also shows a link with the other series. As usual, C. L. Stone, has written this well. She's still the only author I buy my books to keep. I can't wait for more in her series.
I love this ghost bird series and this snippets of stories from the guys. North’s story shows how awkward he is with flirting. The book shows what a protector and problem solver he can be. Good writer
I love this series and I am always watching for the next one to drop. I can not wait to see what happens next. Hearing from the boys side also adds more detail and depth.
North meeting Sang is so cute. He’s such a protector and she’s his angel. I can’t believe C. L. Stone somehow incorporated the other series of hers into these little spin off books.
