The last person Miguel Reyes wants to fall for is Delilah Daniels. Of all the people in the world, this is who fate is trying to lead him to? His overprotective best friend’s younger sister?
But he’s never felt anything like this in his life. Delilah could live in his blood, and she still wouldn’t be close enough.
Together, they're a perfect mix... as well as unstable elements on the brink of explosion. Trying to stay away only pushes them back together even more intensely than before.
She's his. He's hers. It's either succumb or be destroyed.
Miguel Reyes breaks one of the major guy codes, dating his best friend's sister. When he first realized he had feelings for Delilah he tried to deny them, but the closer they got the harder it became. Delilah Daniels has known she was in love with Miguel for some time but she never thought he would feel the same about her. When these two finally give in to their shared passions it turns out to better than either of them could ever have imagine. Will their connection be strong enough to hold them together or will pass issues and current distractions along with family interference tear them apart. Breaking Code is a emotional story about two people whom, even though they don't see the greatness and beauty in themselves, immediately see it in each other which makes for a very passionate and sometimes tumultuous relationship. The couple's journey is sometimes sweet and other times turbulent, and in the truly beautiful. I loved Delilah and Miguel and am so glad they found their happily ever after which made all they had to go through to get there totally worth it.
Really sweet and the best out of the series. I love friends to lovers but this was more so because of how close Miguel was to O.B and his family. Again this story tackles the sensitive subjects of abuse, depression and anxiety. I love how this book was written using flashbacks and linking situations that happen throughout the book giving aha moments from one chapter to the next. I’d actually like more of this series but doubt I’ll get my wish
This is clearly a romance novel but it deals with so many mental issues. Some of the issues the hero has that I'm not going to get into. But I understand why he had a hard time expressing. Especially when we teach boys to not appear weak or be victims. And unfortunately teach our girls not to be understanding to such vulnerability. But I do connect to the heroine's lack of self esteem in relation to her looks as well as maintaining the perfectionist facade. For me, yeah their relationship has toxicity but the most toxic was the mindset of the other guy that liked her. Some might not agree but I saw what he shared as emotional abuse or the beginnings of emotional abuse. And the sad part was the "truths" he was sharing are the same negative self talk I give myself. This book had so many bombs going off I either connected with or I could understand that I felt like the author was counseling me.
I didn't realize this was apart of a series however I tell ya it is a good book even by itself. Miguel and Delilah is a whirlwind story with emotions, his demons and everything coming out to the surface. This story will rip you right in until you finish the whole book!
Such a good read and would highly recommend!!. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This one was good. Miguel and Lilah's story was sweet and hot. I felt for Miguel and what he struggled with, and Delilah was a great heroine, whether as a 'good girl' or herself. I liked her relationship with Dr. S too. They had a nice chemistry. Since I started with Raina's book, I knew about them but I enjoyed reading from Lilah's perspective. I am glad we got to learn more about how her family good to care for Miguel and to some extend Carson. It was more detailed here than the previous two books. I am still not too sure on how those kids ended in the same school, seeing how the Daniels family was already well off. There was a lot of telling about how Miguel was part of that family but not so much telling. Especially since there was much more emphasis on Carson and O. B. best friendship than on Miguel and either one of them. I was also annoyed at some point with all the angst going on, but I understood why knowing what Miguel had to deal with. I didn't like the way O. B. situation appeared since I still think that whole storyline was not handled too well. I also noticed two patterns : the age gap (which in this case was not that problematic but the whole prom thing had me side eying the author some) ; and the female uber villain. I did like those boys and their families though. Had a good time reading about them all, despite some annoying bits.
I waited until I finished the series to write all my reviews. The first book was more straightforward with the main characters needing to get out of their own way to be happy. The second and last book the MMC had serious emotional and mental health challenges to overcome. As in book 2, the detailing and handling of the MMC’s anxiety and depression was gently and thoughtfully done. Even the underlying trama was handled well. Including the therapy sessions was an amazing idea and may help anyone suffering from the same or similar conditions.
Again K. Alex Walker took a topic that is often hidden and covered up and brought it out into the light. She covered a lot of the reasons male survivors do not report and the consequences/damage molestation causes. Well done.
I also added the playlist at the end of this book to my Spotify.
This was a warm, beautiful, and emotional story. I appreciate that K. Alex Walker took the time to delve into issues of mental health and the various ways life can still be extremely hard, even with all the love and support in the world. I especially appreciate the realness of the characters, in that the author steered clear of two-dimensional villainy. I found she focused on people making choices, whether good or bad, the impact those choices had on those around them, and the consequences of those choices in the long-term. (Not to say that I didn't feel a great amount of satisfaction by the end of the story though...) Overall, another excellent book from K. Alex Walker!
K. Alex Walker can touch upon any subject and bring it to life. The emotional connection I felt to the characters in this book made me want to heal their hearts and minds so they would no longer be their own worst enemies. Delilah and Miguel come together when they stop fighting the love they feel and start embracing the passionate pull instead. However the further the relationships progress it reveals the insecurities and lack of self-worth they encompass. While in each other they find a spark and safe haven it is a dark road they have to follow to get there. You have to pick and choose your battles to get where you need to be and not every choice will bring your HEA. Can Miguel and Delilah find that happy medium or that happy place or where they doomed as soon as they started.
K. Alex Walker you have done it again!! This was soo good I felt like reading it a second time. The emotions from all of the characters were so well written that I felt them as I read this book. Miguel and his anxiety, Delilah’s insecurities, the Daniels parents fire when it came to all of their children. This was so good. It also touched on something that most people do not talk about and that is male molestation with older women. Along with the trauma and blowbacks of living with an active gang member. Can I just say that Dr. Saraci and Raina were hilarious! The brotherly bond between Carson, OB and Miguel were truly cute. But the love he had for Delilah was everything!!!!
This book like the last touched on some really serious topics. Loved how we got to meet and know both Delilah and Miguel. Wow😲!!!!! Miguel and Delilah. I thought the O.B. and Sam was good, smh. I loved how we saw Miguel and Lilah's back stories, how they came to be who there were and how they came together. Would have LOVED the bonus chapter 1&2 as part of the original book to see the budding and change the relationship. This book hit home in ways I didn't expect personally. I'm a little rocked. Would have read this book through in hrs or the day if life wasn't happening. Awesome, heartbreaking book with some very sensitive but relevant topics. Thanks K Alex!
Breaking The Code, you would never guess what code they are breaking… no spoilers! In this book the struggle of the characters comes alive, I hurt for Miguel, it’s so much harder for boys/men to admit abuse. The reality is both men and women can be abused. Delilah and Miguel love for each other was never in question but Miguel couldn’t love her the way she deserved without facing all his demons … I loved them together, they are just beautiful. I am struggling to review this book because of all the emotions and complexities of it all. So, let’s just say that I love the characters, the story will keep you enthralled to the very end. BTW. What happened with Oliver & Jasmine? Can’t wait for Dr S and Raina 🙌
Great story and excellent writing. Miguel and Delilah were delightful, funny, smart, and refreshingly authentic . The inner struggles and familial expectations were real and relatable. The idea of someone needing help to cope with life experiences is very authentic and helps bring understanding to those everyday people, and athletes, professional or amateur, who must constantly experience life in the public forum. If one person reads this book and gets the message of it being okay to get help, then it is worth reading. This is a must read for anyone who loves ‘the real’.
An ARC received (Thanks to BookSirens) for an honest review
I’ve read a few of K. Alex’s books and I’ve been on both ends of the spectrum. This book started off extremely slow for me. I think that’s the first trait I’ve noticed from her previous work that I’ve read. But, I will say it started to get a little better around the 60% mark. There are characters that I wish were written a little bit better or had a greater impact in the story, but the main characters I did love. Both individually and as a couple. For me, they’re the reason I’m giving this book 3 stars.
This book is absolutely wonderful. I love how you are taken on a journey of self awareness. You’re given the opportunity to look at real life situations and some real life solutions.
I really enjoyed reading and meeting Delilah and Miguel. There chemistry and their passion is really tangible.
I’m looking forward to seeing more from The Boys From Chapel Hill’s.

3 1/2 Stars.....Miguel Reyes starts dating his best friend's sister, Delilah Daniels. They have been attracted for some time, but you don't date your best friend's little sister. These two are both full of insecurities, lack self-esteem, but seem to find strength with each other. The book was well paced, had some sizzle, and steam. I haven't read the other books in The Boys From Chapel Hill, but you can read them all with your KU subscription.
I received an ARC from Booksrpout and this is my honest review.
Oh God, I loved this book. I think this is the best in the series.
K. Alex Walker is a great storyteller. Knowing Miguel and Delilah's history was paramount to being fully invested in the story. Throughout the series, the way you addressed the many social issues, expectations, and taboos, was done in such a way that was palpable for even those who may have some triggers.
It was a story that needed to be told, and told in such a caring and loving way. This is definitely a book I will reread, because I'm sure there's a lot of nuisances I missed.
Oh, and the additional look back instead of Epilogues was an added bonus. Thanks.
I loved all the Chapel Hill boys but I think Miguel is my favorite. He loved himself some Delilah. I wanted to smack the lil hater for trying to put doubts in Delilah's mind about Miguel because he was insecure with himself. Although I do Miguel needed to see that there were other men that wanted Lilah because it put a lil pep in his steps to seek help for himself. I'm glad Luz got exactly what she deserved. It's not only men that prey on lil girls, women also prey on boys to. This was a great read and I hope Raina and Lucas gets a story.💚💚
Delilah assumed that he was ashamed to be in a relationship, but he was guarding her feelings. It didn't become clear until the pregnancy scare. I like that they were seeing if the relationship was going to work before putting the family into their business. And I loved that the family was supportive of both of them. Even though they knew what he endured, they were judging him.
It touched on some sensitive subjects and addressed them. Kudos to K.A. Walker for not being afraid to speak on them.
Miguel and Delilah have been life long friends with an honorary brother sister status between them. Along the way when entering on adulthood they realise that there is more to their familial feelings for each other. Their friendship drifts into lovers status and there the complication begins. Delilah wants to go public but Miguel is reluctant for reasons only he can address. When is it ever going to be the right time? Especially when Delilah has other suitors waiting in the wings.
Miguel and Delilah will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride of emotions, having fallen for his best friends sister, his past demons and more come to the surface, can they make it through it all for a chance of happiness? well written, captivating read, with tough topics loving characters and more!. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Gees Delilah and Miguel were so toxic and they knew it. Glad they got their shut together; the journey was quite the ride.
A doctor coming home from work and going straight to their baby and not washing their hands first at the least, nor changing their clothes is so puzzling to me
It took me a minute to get into and finish this book. It was somewhat depressing and sad. The H and h had a long, long, long road to happiness. Originally, it started with the age difference, then mental health. However, once we passed those scenarios, it was smooth sailing. But, it felt like a lot of back and forth before the HEA.
K. Alex isn't afraid of the hard topics. This wonderful friends to lovers romance, also deals with a vey serious subject of paedophilia. K. Alex handles this tough subject with success, maintaining a realness & showing an awesome survivor. It was definitely a hard read in places, but a really good book.
Thank you Me Walker withdrawing attention to child molestation by woman
I am reading this more and more which leads me to conclude that child molestation of boys by women is real and more needs to be done. This was a well written book and shows the damage it causes on a child psych.
Everyone needs a Miguel in their lives. He's just the best. Delilah and Miquel's relationship is one for the books. I read Raina's book first, so I knew the outcome of the character's story but they were so intriguing, I had to read it regardless.
Even though I was semi-prepared for this book, it was deeper than I thought. 10/10!!! Totally recommend!!!
I fell in love with this story, it was absolutely beautiful!! There are some gut wrenching parts which makes this story so much better!! Thank you K.Alex Walker!! I'll always one click.
Oh this story is so so beautiful and everything I wanted to read at this point in my life. It was also so good to catch up on OB and Carson. Thanks so much Ms Walker, I totally love this story
This was the very well written romance with difficult subject matters. The author was thoughtful in her writing of Guel & Lilah’s journey as individuals and as a couple. The couple’s friends and family were great support systems. I highly recommend this story.
Why do some authors do epilogue's years later but never update on all the main characters that were wrote about in the book? That is so annoying. Like what happened with "auntie" ? Did TBE cousins have a relationship? And a few other questions that bare answering to
