Private Investigator Henry Walsh and his partner, Alex, are at it again with another mystery they may not be able to solve together. Could this case be their last?
Former pro football star Ray Rivers swears he had nothing to do with the death of a high school principal found dead in the boy's locker room. But the rumors won't stop, and he'd like Henry and Alex to find who's behind them.
The case takes a sharp turn in the wrong direction, before they even get started, when Ray's wife is found murdered in her home. And it doesn't take long for the sheriff's office to take Ray into custody.
It's hard for anyone to argue against the evidence the cops have in their hands. But Henry knows it's too soon to jump to conclusions, with so many stones left unturned. Even with his doubts, Henry promises to do whatever he can to clear Ray’s name.
But a shocking twist brings the case to a sudden and unexpected halt without resolution.
Henry knows it'll take more than just his persistence and an uncanny ability to solve a crime when nobody else can. But this time, he’ll have to go it alone. And if he's not careful, the luck he’s looking for will run out before he finds it…

No tying everything up in a nice bow with this one. Henry's friend, Ray is a former NFL player, who was a high school coach until he got fired. The high school principal that fired him ends up dead in the boys shower, but it has been ruled an accident. Ray might get arrested for it anyway, if Henry doesn't find out who has been sending him notes. His wife gets murdered and he gets arrested anyway. It is hard to follow clues, when there aren't any clues to follow. Just asking the questions could get Henry killed. Another really good Henry Walsh mystery.
I've read all 8 books in this series and enjoyed them. It's got some interesting plot twists, an intriguing relationship between the two main characters (Henry and Alex), and a good supporting cast. It's worth your while to pick up this series and read all of them. They are fairly quick reads and a lot of fun.
Great to have another Henry Walsh mystery, but will it be the swan song? Good characters, good story, twists and the mystery solved. But, is this the final instalment? Thanks Gregory - please keep Henry and Alex together.
