The first story in this got better to me, so I’m giving it 3 stars. (I stopped reading the second comic storyline inside this subseries a while ago, as I’ve explained before.)
The problem I had with this comic earlier was that it got kind of cliché to me. I started getting this vibe that I feel from too many comics, which is: the-person-is-dead-but-really-isn’t-or-was-dead-but-isn’t-anymore-but wait!-maybe-it’s-true-but-then…. It’s very tiring reading to me personally, and I feel like it leads to a never-ending story when a story’s really supposed to have a beginning, a middle and an ending. Not nine endings, or ninety...oy.
Comics do this kind of stuff too much, in my experience at least. But maybe it’s mostly or only self-selection, like a bias I’ve developed based on the specific comics I’d chosen in the past. Maybe all the other comics outside of my reading so far--maybe they don’t use that endless-story development.
Whatever the case, that type of thing just isn’t my favorite reading--or viewing--experience.
It's a good issue but the real star here is the backup story. If you're looking for a concise background of the conflict leading into the Trial of the Amazons, this is it - and what we get is intriguing. The main WW story with the fight with the Shining Knight (and the reveal of who he is) is cool but I'm wondering if reintroducing him so soon is called for.
The main story feels disjointed, like the Cizko plan was a distraction to keep Diana occupied while they set up the Trial of the Amazons. Given my review of 783, the reveal was no surprise, and it seems like a waste to do it before this next big event. And why is it that everyone can see Boston now? How can he talk to the nurses? I appreciated the behind the scenes look in the backup but it doesn't really tell us anything we don't already know or could safely suspect.
This would be a 1-2☆ issue if it wasn't for the Trial build up at the end. I don't know why Becky is insistent on writing Diana as a war hungry, attack first - talk after type of character because its the furthest thing to what she is.
Siggy being back is good but if he is back he needs to stick around now not vanish again it's tiring.
Trial looks phenomenal I am so excited for it the build up and links between books has been so good! Can't wait for the first issue to be delivered.

I love how this looks. All of the shattering throughout is just spectacular, and that carries me through it more than what is arguably a slightly flimsy story.
I feel like this backup offers less insight than some of the others did.
