Buck Cowboys #3

Can't Bucking Wait

Rate this book
I’ve wanted to be a big city doctor my entire life. I studied hard. Got into Harvard. Then moved across the other side of the country, leaving my family’s small-town ranch and bull riding school behind.

I’ve hated every moment since.

My older sister’s wedding is the perfect excuse for an extended trip back home. Only problem is, my grandmother took over my old bedroom, there’s out-of-towners in the guest accommodation, and my twin hates my guts. Guess I won’t be bunking in with her.

The only empty bed on the entire ranch is in the cowboys’ cabins.
More specifically, it’s Preston Innes’ spare room.

The last time I saw him was when I turned up at his door to offer him my virginity. Only to find my twin beat me to his bed.

Awkward.

Even worse? He’s the only guy I’ve thought of for the past two years, and I’m probably hopelessly in love with him.

Too bad I’m his boss’ daughter and totally off limits.

I am at a loss over all the 5 star ratings.

The couple is boring at best.

I knew I was getting into a scenario where the H had been or would be with both twins (separately). Not my favorite trope, but I've read a few that the authors managed to pull through. Not here. Had to evacuate when the hero ponders, I could only imagine the look on Frost’s face if he ever found out that it had been me who’d taken both his daughters’ virginity.

Umm...yuck.

Bucking BrillIiant!

I absolutely adored Preston and Lennon. That chemistry between them - smokin’ hot!

And everyone needs someone who looks and loves them the way Preston does Lennon, I know I felt jealous at times 🤣

This draws you in and you can’t help doing anything but be with them in their journey.

Another fantastic read from Elle

I'm torn because this was not as good as the last one. I think I'll say 3.75⭐️ because it was better than the first and I gave that 3.5.

I actually enjoyed the book but I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters at all. I also feel like nothing really happened with them. I don't necessarily feel like there was character development.

I was genuinely curious about how Elle was make me not hate Callie for her attitude so I'm glad she gave her a few chapters that was a good idea ! I'm now very excited about her book. More excited than I was for this one.

Can’t Bucking Wait (Buck Cowboys #3) by Elle Thorpe is a new adult, small town cowboy romance told mostly in first person, dual POV with a few chapters from a third POV. Although it's the third book in the Buck Cowboys series, it can be read as a standalone. Also, if you've read Thorpe's Dirty Cowboy series, you'll recognize some characters in this one as it follows the next generation—Lennon is the daughter of Kai and Addie from Ride Dirty, Cowboy.

Lennon has grown up in the shadow of her more outgoing and popular twin, Callie. They’ve always been opposites, but in high school, a wedge began to grow between them because they were both interested in the same guy—Preston, a bull-riding student at their family ranch. Lennon is shy and studious, but it has served her well—she got accepted into Harvard medical school. After their graduation party, Lennon works up the courage to make a move on Preston before she needs to leave for college. So she sneaks over to his cabin to offer her virginity, only to find that Callie got there first. Heartbroken and humiliated, Lennon leaves for school the next day without seeing or speaking to either of them.

Two years have passed. Lennon’s big sister, Summer, is getting married; and the rift between her and her twin is larger than ever—they haven’t spoken since that embarrassing night. When Lennon comes home early to surprise her family and help with the wedding, her room is occupied and Callie’s unwilling to share her space. Preston offers the spare room in his cabin, and although Lennon had hoped to avoid him, she has no choice but to accept. If only she didn’t still harbor feelings for him. What will happen between Lennon and Preston as they share close quarters? Will Lennon and Callie work things out and reconcile, or will this situation drive them even further apart?

I loved Lennon and Preston’s story! It gripped me from the start, and I read it in one sitting. They were both relatable and well-developed, with fun, witty banter and sizzling chemistry. This story was an emotional one. I could feel Lennon’s heartbreak, insecurity, and rejection, and my heart went out to her. Preston’s kind, fun-loving, outgoing personality makes him a perfect match for Lennon, because they balance each other out. I loved his natural levity, how he respected and cared for her, and the way he helped her come out of her comfort zone to try new things. Can’t Bucking Wait is angsty, sweet, humorous, romantic, and steamy. I’m looking forward to reading Callie’s story next.

I don’t believe this book…….. what happened to not sleeping with your sister’s exes!!! Honor, sisterhood???

The heroine is so pathetic, she did not just go for her sister’s ex but she begged the hero for sex but got rejected many times. I guess the writer is trying to justify the whole concept. You cannot normalize having a relationship with your sister’s ex.

There was no mention of it in the book but it should have been the most important point where you do not have sex with your sister’s ex.

Enough said!

Can't Bucking Wait
is the third stand alone is the Buck Cowboys series by Elle Thorpe.

Lennon had always wanted to be a doctor, but two years at Harvard has her second guessing her dreams. Her older sister wedding is the perfect excuse to step back and rethink her situation. Arriving home unexpectedly early she finds herself without a bed to sleep in, she finds herself bunking with cowboy Preston. Preston, who she always had a crush on and was crushed when she found her twin sister in his bed. She may be older now, but her feelings are still lurking. The close proximity has Preston wishing he had known her feelings back then, as he sees her in a new light. Lennon doesn't have long to figure out what she wants to do about her schooling, her growing feelings for Preston, and find a way to mend her broken relationship with her twin sister.

"Preston's kiss sucked the air from my lungs and set my body on fire."

Awkward pretty much sums up the entire situation between Lennon, Preston, and Callie and that's all there is to say about it 😂 Any ways, lets talk about the stars of this book, Lennon and Preston. I absolutely loved them together! Preston was charming and playful. I appreciated that he stepped back when he found out she was a virgin , even though it was frustrating , it showed how much he cared about her. The two of them have a steamy relationship that builds from masturbating together, oral pleasure and heavy make out sessions. When they finally take the big step, it ends up being totally worth the wait. I simply loved all their encounters, whether they were just hanging out or giving into their sexual chemistry.

"Bucking Hell I love it when you moan like that."[...]
I sniggered "So cheesy."
"Not cheesy if I have you buck ass naked."
"Stop."
"Come home and buck me Lennon."

Can't Bucking Wait
by Elle Thorpe is a relatively low drama, considering the awkward history , full of delicious steam, Ferris wheel rides, skinny-dipping, family and topped off at the end with cameos from Thorpe's other cowboy books that made me smile.

P.S. - Ahhhh I NEED Callie's book asap, it's going to be soooo gooood!

Perfect! Incredible! Bucking Amazing!

Preston and Lennon are absolute perfection! They were so fun to read. This story had so many twists and turns. I couldn’t put it down. I loved Preston as much as I loved Lennon. Both set in their way, opposites made for each other.

I was so excited that this was Elle’s next book to come out. It’s different but INCREDIBLE. Different in the sense that these two know each other, they have a history in the sense that brings distance but Preston doesn’t know the reason for Lennon brushing him off, so it makes the story and their journey that more entertaining.

This book was bucking amazing! I didn’t know where the story was gonna go but I loved that. It also had my attention from the very first page. I loved Lennon, her heart is do big and kind. She is an incredible character. This book was swoony and fun. The characters are entertaining. I love love Lennon’s parents, they are so devoted and loving. I loved this book so much. Elle never disappoints. Her stories take you on a journey and makes you love her characters instantly. I loved this so much and can’t wait for more books in this series!!!

It's been a while since I've read one of Elle's cowboy books, but I remember how much I loved them, and this one did not change that for me. I really loved Lennon and Prestons story, and I love the world that Elle has created in this small town and with their family ranch. I really enjoyed everything about this story, and I absolutely devoured it. Straight onto the next book for me. Highly recommend.

Buck me, this book was everything and I can see why the author loved writing it, and it shows. The characters are well written, tough in this town way and the chemistry between them was off the charts.
As usual, Elle gives you a glimpse into the next Bucking book and I can’t bucking wait.

My goodness Lennon & Preston certainly dance around each other in this book. They have so much sexual tension it nearly burnt the hell out of my kindle!!! Lennon is quieter than her twin sister - Callie who is more outgoing of the two. So when Callie sleeps with Preston Lennon's crush it causes a rift between the sisters that lasts for years. Until Lennon has to go back home for her older sisters wedding and shes back in Preston's life too. Bringing back all those old unresolved feelings between the two of them.

Oh boy did i like the dynamic between Lennon & Preston. It was sweet and steamy with plenty of playful banter. I didnt realise that this was the 3rd book in this series when i started reading it so i think Ill have to get my hands on the other books now including Callie's book

This is my favourite of Elle's cowboys. I love Preston and Lennon. He is the sweetest towards her and only wants her to be happy. She supports him unconditionally and it is absolutely beautiful. Even though this is kind of slow burn it is definitely worth it. And the spice is amazing as always!

Hot, steamy and addictive

“There’s nobody here but me and I’ve just spent thirty minutes feeling every curve of your body, while you were naked in my arms. Now walk over here, and strut like you own it" 🥵🥵🥵🥵

Damn everyone needs a Preston in their lives. If you're a cowboy romance lover Can't Bucking Wait is for you.

It's got just enough drama and intensity to keep you hooked. I laughed, I cried and I swooned.

Lennon has always felt like the invisible outcast of the family. The quiet, shy type feels like she has to please everyone. The one time she gets enough courage to go after what she wants turns out horribly wrong leaving Lennon embarrassed and humiliated. Causing her to run away to college without so much as a goodbye.

Returning 2 years later for a family celebration. Lennon comes face to face with the reason why she ran, Preston.

Preston is a bull rider staying at her family's ranch. She is forced to stay with him in his cabin and let's just say this get very interesting and heated. The chemistry between them ignites the pages.

It's a feel good, Intoxicating, sexy, beautiful and captivating romance that will leave you wanting more.

Loses a star for ick

This is an overall good story in this series, but it loses a star for the "ick" factor sleeping with her sister first. I get that it was a one-off, supposedly from his point of view just a fun romp, but eww! I was hoping that it would turn out to be a misunderstanding on Lennon's part, that Preston didn't know Callie was there, came out and found her and sent her on her way, mad and embarrassed, but that nothing happened. Major "ick" for this plot point. Throwing in random chapters from Callie's point of view was also disruptive to the flow of the narrative.

I rate this book 4.5 stars.

I really enjoyed this story! I loved Lennon and so felt her pain of note knowing what to do. I came around to being on Preston’s side but originally thought “what the heck” to the event that happened when they were younger. This slow burn romance was actually quite sweet to read as Lennon and Preston went from friends to lovers. I cannot wait to see what happens in a future book about Callie!

I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest opinion.

Eh. Not that exciting. The main female character is annoying and has beef with her sister for sleeping with the guy she was crushing on when they were younger - but idk how the sister was meant to know? I don't think she had told her (I might have missed it though?)
No chemistry between the love interests. Quite boring to me.

screaming raging frustrating throwing up

What an actual Buck is this?!?! After being sky-high from the previous book’s sweet and swoon-worthy vibes, this one crashed hard. Total sucked. And my 3 rating stars mean I'm that generous duh. 🙄

I actually still enjoyed the book bcs it was a fun, easy, and quick read. But the chemistry between Lennon and Preston felt flat for me. Sure, their banter had spark, but without deeper character development, it didn’t fully land the emotional payoff I was hoping for

Lennon, the quiet peacekeeper of her chaotic family, returns home and is forced to face Preston, the charming Southern boy she once ran from after a humiliating moment. Their dynamic builds from emotional restraint to sizzling intimacy, with Preston showing patience and care, especially when navigating Lennon’s vulnerability. The banter was witty, the sexual tension undeniable, and though some wished for deeper character development, their connection still delivered enough heat and heart to keep things enjoyable but just a teensy bit.

The most thing that bugged me a lot is, I hated how the rift between Callie and Lennon was portrayed—this plot had me screaming into the void. Like?!?! Lennon was out here trying to mend something nearly shattered beyond repair, and Callie? She rejected her, lashed out, acted like the villain twin while Lennon stayed loyal and soft-hearted through it all. Lennon even canceled her flight just to be there when Callie found out she was pregnant, and the baby daddy bailed. And still, Callie turned her jealousy into cruelty, acting like their parents didn’t love them equally. I wanted to feel bad for her, but her lack of common sense made it so hard. Yes, I’m glad they reconciled and found their way back to being sisters, but that scene was so abrupt it felt like emotional whiplash. Miss Ma’am Elle Thorpe, where was the payoff? We needed more twin bonding, more healing, more screen time to make that reunion hit like it deserved. I’m not asking for much, just justice for Lennon and a proper arc for Callie.

And don’t even get me started on that sneak peek. Callie and Abel’s forbidden chaos screamed instant drama and promised explosive mess. I’m so ready for Callie’s character development to finally deliver. And buck yes, I’m sprinting into Motherbucker like it owes me direct answers and emotional closure. 💥🏃🏻‍♀️

Can’t Bucking Wait was like a breath of fresh air after reading quite a few very dark stories lately. This fast-paced story simply captivates your heart with Lennon’s innocence and Preston’s natural charm.

This story was told from a few characters’ points of view but mainly the two lead characters, Lennon Hunt and Preston Innes. Both young and finding out that life may not take you on the path you originally expected or desired. Learning valuable lessons about making difficult choices as well as taking risks is never easy, however, with a friend by your side it helps.

I liked Preston a lot, although yes, he might have been city born and bred, his heart was in the country. It shows the depth of his character when at seventeen he changed his whole lifestyle and transplanted himself to the country. Having never ridden before his work was cut out for him but determination and hard work were two things he had plenty of and lots of courage.

Lennon was also a likable character with her friendly yet more reserved approach to people. Her dedication to study was commendable but it was her searching for what she truly wanted in life that I admired the most. Together with Preston, they had an easy-going banter with some very witty repartee.

This slow-burn romance might have been carefully paced but the sparks between Lennon and Preston were so flammable it’s a wonder they didn’t set the bushes alight.

This is the first book in the series that I have read but I am definitely going to be reading the rest as soon as possible. I also look forward to reading Callie and Abel’s story next.

Review: Can’t Bucking Wait by Elle Thorpe. Buck Cowboys book 3.
🤠
By now we all know how much I love Elle’ Saint View series, but it was with her cowboys that I found her stories and from there on I couldn’t let go. I even have my favorite cowboy couple, but every book from this series and the previous one is always a contender, because it seemed to be getting better and better. Now Lennon and Preston totally stole my heart and I honestly could’ve read about them for many more chapters.

Apart from all the insane chemistry and amazing steamy scenes between Lennon and Preston, what I got from them was a big friendship and a lesson about dreams. She always dreamed about being a doctor, she studied hard and was at Harvard on her to be one, but one day things didn’t seem the same, something was missing. So she went home to her sister’s wedding, only to be forced to share a cabin with the Cowboy who always had her heart.

Preston never knew she was into to him, and now that they’re practically living together, he’s seeing her with other eyes. She’s so beautiful inside and out, that soon he is totally in love with her, but it was when she defend his dream in front of everyone, that he couldn’t hold back. But he was also fighting for his dream, one that with every passing year it seemed like it was far away from reach.

I absolutely loved how they support each other and wanted only the best for one another. It was a beautiful friendship, that after many, MANY, bumps on the road, they finally became an incredible couple. Together they proved that sometimes dreams can change and in fact it can be even better and amazing. Now let me grab a fan, because some scenes were super hot and I totally envy Lennon. Delicious! Also, I need Callie’s book for yesterday! I’m so curious and excited!

I have read all 6 of Elle Thorpe's previous DIRTY COWBOY Books! Now I have finished her new release #7 CAN'T BUCKING WAIT. All 7 of these books can be read as standalones with their own stories. You do not need to have read any of the other books. They all have happy endings, too! If you do like books with good-looking bull-riding cowboys then you should read them all!

The ranch that is owned by Kai Hunt is famous for the bull-rider training. It should be, as Kai was one of the all time best back in his day! Now he trains others to strive to try to be the best they can. Kai & his wife Addie have three daughters. The youngest daughters are twins. The oldest is becoming a well known bull-rider, too. The eighteen old twins are both crushing-hard on the same guy that works & trains with their dad. His name is Preston Innes & he has no idea the trouble the two girls will make for him. They both have separate plans to go to his cabin & confess their love & desires. Lennon had decided she would show up & confess her feelings, but her sister Callie had already beat her there & was already naked in his bed. The next day, Lennon got on a plane, leaving both Callie & Preston behind without a word. She spent two years in pre-med school & nothing else. Lennon was homesick for the family ranch & the people who lived there. Her older sister was getting married, so she decided to make a surprise visit home. She got a big surprise of her own, when she showed up. Due to all the guests already there for the wedding, the only empty bed was in Preston's cabin in his guest bedroom. There is a change between Preston & Lennon, and there was no going back.

Perfection & Beautifully Written

This story is going to steal your heart and make you smile from start to finish. Lennon always thought she knew what she wanted and set her life in line with those goals. The only person who made her side step was Preston! She had been smitten with him since he first came to their ranch. He was always out of reach and when she left for Harvard she put him out of her mind and heart. Lennon came home for Summer & Dom’s wedding and when she returns she is taking back by how much she missed being home. Then she reconnects with Preston and she can’t believe he may feel the same way she does but she’s not sure. She starts to question everything and when their attraction grows she is more confused about her future. Preston made a huge misjudgment 2 years ago and he is has been kicking himself ever since and when Lennon comes home he can’t stop these feelings that are coursing through him. However, she is his boss’ daughter and he loves the Hunt Family with everything he has. They are his family and he doesn’t know if he can jeopardize that if he acts on his feelings. This story is romantic and very sexy! Lennon & Preston are an adorable couple and you can’t help but love them as individuals and as a powerful couple. You will devour this book and the teaser about the next book that isn’t out yet will make you cringe for the wait but like all these other cowboy boos we know it will be worth the wait. Happy Reading!!!
