9 hours and 31 minutes April Davis totally has her life in order. Ha! Not really. Yes, she’s the Calm Mom—a social influencer with a reputation for showing moms how to stay calm and collected through yoga, even when life is going totally off script—but behind the scenes, she’s barely holding it all together. Raising tiny humans alone is exhausting, but that’s just the chewed-up cherry on the melted sundae of her life. Her kids aren’t behaving, her husband left her for his skydiving instructor, and her top knot proves she hasn’t showered in days.
Jack Gibson has one job—to ensure the media conglomerate that has purchased April’s brand makes money from it. Lots and lots of money. To do this, they’re expanding her influence from Instagram and her blog to a podcast and MyTube channel. There’s even talk about a Calm Mom cookbook.
When a video of the “always chill” April goes viral and she’s most definitely not, Jack is pulled in to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Suddenly, the guy with no intention of ever having children is lost in the land of the tooth fairy and toddler tea parties. When sparks fly between Mr. Mogul and the Calm Mom, he’s not the only one out of his depth. Together they’ll have to figure out if keeping it all together really can lead to happily ever after...
Christina Hovland lives her own version of a fairy tale: an artisan chocolatier by day and romance writer by night. Born in Colorado, Christina received a degree in journalism from Colorado State University. Before opening her chocolate company, Christina’s career spanned from the television newsroom to managing an award-winning public relations firm. She’s a recovering overachiever and perfectionist with a love of cupcakes and dinner she doesn’t have to cook herself. A 2017 Golden Heart® finalist, she lives in Colorado with her first-boyfriend-turned-husband, four children, the sweetest dog around, and now Chloe, the wonder pup.
Cute mom story. Jack is the star for me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This book features Calm Mom. A brand April is trying to build and everything is wonderful until chaos ensues during a live feed for a sponsor. As you can imagine the calmness is shattered.
But in comes Jack who is the epitome of a gentleman and someone who can help her through the chaos and the rebrand of her account and job.
Jack is definitely the best part of this story. He himself exudes calmness and strength. He steps in when ever needed, strengthens the children, and rebuilds her confidence.
Without Jack, without this character to balance her, the story would be completely different. I like that the author crafted him the way she did because it certainly made a huge difference in the way the story ended and my enjoyment level.
April May Fall has a mixture of all things that make a delightful read. Humor and wit, crazy and somewhat annoying girlfriends that go out on a limb for you (even if some of it is very far-fetched), hella hot Jack, hot sexy times, and a sweet ending.
Overall April May Fall offers a realistic and witty look at single mom life with the sweet Jack treat on top! See what I did there?
5 Well Loved Stars-Say What???Only 99 CENTS!!!! * * * * * Spoiler Free Oh, I really loved and appreciated this book. Although, I would never be an "Influencer" or someone being in the "Social Media Branding Whirl", I could relate fully to being at times a frustrated loving mom with her hands full.
April May Fall takes a serious look at what a challenge it can be to recover and flourish after experiencing a divorce. Forget the normal type of dealing with this type of loss, add into the mix a new venture of being an influencer on Instagram, signed to be a brand called The Calm Mom, and handle raising three children, each processing the divorce in their own way.
This takes this premise and does it on steroids, the good kind. We have a woman posse looking out for our gal, complete with the required quirky, inappropriate one. All the women are supportive and fit perfectly.
The main thrust is when there is a viral meltdown contrary to the brand, needs to be cleaned up immediately. This brings out the big guns, the main man in charge of rebuilding the necessary confidence to continue on after this incident.
I don't want to give more because I went in with only the blurb and fell hard for our guy and everything else in this story. You have people you will care about, situations you will relate to, and be captivated by all the wonderful encouragement we need to hear.

I definitely found this a cute and easy read as the writing style flows easily & doesn’t require much thought. My favourite characters were all of April’s friends as they were definitely ride or die friends which everyone needs
I love books that are stand-alone but set within the same universe as other books as it makes me even more excited to get the rest of the books!
Christina Hovland has a way of infusing charm and real talk into these stories. As a mom, I appreciated how she highlighted the perfect imperfection of motherhood. The big heart, and the shattered nerves, and the big messy love of it all.
I loved April's character arc in this story. I loved how her family held on tight and healed and soothed. I loved her circle of friends (maybe especially that scene-stealer Kitty). I loved how she found herself, her voice, and her purpose with the help of some good friends, some precocious kids, and sigh a really good man.
Oh, Jack. I find stories where the hero falls in love against his will completely irresistible. That Jack was out of his element and so clearly uncomfortable at times, and yet learning and growing and falling in love along the way? Yup, positively irresistible. I loved how he cared for April, how he gave her space to spread her wings, but remained a solid safe space for her to return. Their chemistry was spot on for me, and I enjoyed their love story so much!
I am completely charmed by the warmth and sweetness of these stories. This is my first series by Christina Hovland, but I'm definitely a fan and cannot wait for more! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars
“Who do you want to prove it to?” Jack asked again. “Me.”
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC for providing me with an eArc of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The story of April, a single mom that just went through a “burnout” and is trying to find herself again, was not only very realistic but also funny. Every important character had a detailed history and personality that had their own uniqued influence on April’s character development. Every-time Kitty was mentioned, I just had to smile because she was so funny and unaware but in a hilarious way. The kids Harmony and Rohan were also very well written. I thought that both of them showed relatable signs of having witnessed a divorce and I loved how they built a relationship with Jack throughout the book.
The character development that April went through was amazing. I loved how I was able to follow her journey from being an insecure woman with trust issues to becoming a confident and independent woman. Jack’s relationship with her also went through ups and down from being her “confidence coach” to a love interest.
Overall, the plot was very structured. It consisted of the classic breakdown, built up, plot-twist and then ending. I thought the beginning was the best part because every character was introduced in a very informative but not overwhelming way. I also enjoyed the third person limited omniscient perspective. I’m usually not the biggest fan of this style but I actually found it nice in this book since it was understandable and not confusing. The plot also wasn’t too fast or too slow. The plot-twist happened at the right time and the ending wasn’t rushed.
I recommend this book to anyone that loves a cute romance story with the involvement of very realistic problems. I will be buying this book when it’s released in paperback.
Another, funny, empowering single mom romance from Christina Hovland. April is "Calm Mom," a social media influencer and yoga instructor. When one of her videos goes viral for all the wrong reasons she gets help from Jack, a brand fixer (also Rachel's brother). Neither is looking for a serious relationship but Jack quickly finds himself falling for April and her adorable children. I loved that April wasn't looking for a man to find herself but realized just because she didn't 'need' one didn't mean she couldn't want one, especially one with such a big heart like Jack. Full of some swoony moments and a couple open door scenes plus tons of heart, great friends and lots of laughs. Great on audio and highly recommended. I love this series and can't get enough. Looking forward to Emmaline's story in July!
This is an entertaining, well-written, humorous, fast paced, steamy, contemporary romance novel. It has likable, well developed, engaging characters, a quirky neighbor, supportive friends, cute animals, a beautiful song, sizzling chemistry, a heart-warming romance, numerous laugh out loud moments, and a happily ever after ending. The children and their antics are hilarious! The quotes from moms and authors (and a surprise movie quote) at the beginning of the chapters are very enjoyable. I am looking forward to reading Ms. Hovland's next entry in her outstanding "Mommy Wars" series with great anticipation. Each novel in the series can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone, but they are even better when read in order. NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC kindly provided me with an ARC of this novel and this is my honest opinion.
Thanks Netgalley for a arc copy of this book for a honest review..
April May Fall was an okay read. April has gone through a lot after her divorce with kids to raise she's trying to do the best that she can. 3 🌟 🌟🌟 read
Sincere apologies to my little brother for accidentally picking a hot mom sexy romance for our April sibling book club. @Brian Gregoire I love you, and I hope you can recover from this <3
Dear Christina Hovland, congratulations! As of this moment you have a new fan!
This was my first time reading something by Christina Hovland, and I can say for sure that I'll definitely be coming back for more, probably starting with the other books in this series.
I think it's a sign of great craftsmanship when an author can make you put yourself in the shoes of a character that's going through something you've never experienced and can't really relate to. I don't have kids, so the struggles and victories of motherhood aren't something I'm familiar with, but this book still managed to have me commiserating with and rooting for April from the very first chapters.
The frazzled energy that I'm betting is an intrinsic part of life when you're a single parent raising three kids under the age of nine came through loud and clear. And was there throughout the story. April's kids didn't magically turn into perfectly behaved little angels, they kept being messy, stubborn, sometimes inappropriate kids acting their age. This book wasn't about April turning into supermom, it was about her journey to realizing there's no such thing as perfect when it comes to parenting. You do the best you can, some days will be better than others, you may fall down sometimes, but as long as you continue to get up and love each other, it'll always be okay in the end.
It was a super feel good story, with a wonderful cast of supporting characters, three perfectly average kids (yay for no trope-y precocious little geniuses here) and enough slow-burn sexual tension to keep you warm through the coldest of winter nights.
Jack and April had exceptional chemistry, and I loved getting to be inside both of their heads thanks to the dual POV. They were both very nuanced characters, firmly grounded in reality. Same with the kids. All three of them had unique voices and personalities, and as I've said, I highly enjoyed seeing them behave in typical kid fashion.
But back to the main couple, it was wonderful how April ended up getting her confidence back not because of Jack, but thanks to him. The journey to self-love and realizing her worth was one she had to make on her own, but he was there next to her to cheer her on and celebrate her accomplishments together. Which was almost as melt-your-heart sweet as Jack recognizing how each of April's kids was struggling after their dad left them, and quietly trying to help them heal also.
The writing was evocative and made it exceptionally easy to picture the whole story unfolding, the pace was fantastic and the plot progression perfectly smooth. It was a great book all around and I'm excited to read more from Christina!
**Thank you to Entangled Publishing for providing me an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own**
When the new rage in the mom community, April, has her Calm Mom harshed by her life going to pieces, Jack is sent in to pick up the pieces and put Calm Mom brand back up at the top. In the wild wasteland of domesticity unlooked for love starts to take root. Blending humor, everyday life struggles and romance is something Christina Hovland excels at and I was tickled to finally pick up one of her standalone Mommy Wars romcoms.
April May Fall begins with average mom and wife, April, finding herself a discovered commodity when her attempt to find a way to hold it together through her calming techniques gets snatched up as Calm Mom brand. Little does her sponsor know that she is barely holding it together when her husband divorces her because he's fallen for another woman and her kids are acting out as a result. Holding on by her fingernails only lasts until a video of her looking the opposite of calm gets released.
Enter Jack, the company's fixer, stage right. Jack exudes calm as he must set April's world back to rights including that of her children. This is a role he never saw himself in and the early days are rough- and pretty hilarious. Meanwhile, Jack's charm works on them all and that might include a little thing called attraction and then love. How could this possible work out? It takes the help of April's quirky friends, a pair of kids, and more.
I tend to hold my breath when I jump into a new series by an author after really loving a previous one. Will the author's signature writing style and way of writing a story still be there? And, will it be fun and flirty in this case? I was relieved of this worry right at the get go. I was cracking up over April's mom world disaster and ignorant Jack arriving into this. Moms can nod their heads because yeah, life just isn't a sixties' sitcom with a mom like Harriet or June Cleaver. Divorce can rampage through a family and recovery isn't easy or clean.
Jack was a real charmer and it was fun and adorable to see him wading in and particularly with April's boy and girl. Jack was a special guy for April, but also for her family. He keeps his cool and just needed to get on board with this surprise twist life and love threw at him.
April's friends, and especially vivacious Kitty were over the top and added the dazzle. When April and Jack were messing up, it was the friends to the rescue. I haven't read the books before, but I'm guessing these gals had or will have their own romances in store.
It was a quick and light romcom and just what I was hoping for. It had some tender and spicy romance times, some funny moments, and touched on deeper matters without deep diving. I would recommend it to those looking for an entertaining and quick-moving read.
My thanks to Entangled and the author for providing an eARC to be read in exchange for an honest review.
Who’s ready for an “oh-so-cute” romance with a splash of spice? You’ll find it in Christina Hovland’s latest romantic comedy, April May Fall. Stay calm and breathe....a mantra for every mom, especially single moms like April. I love this series about moms that focuses heavily on single moms.
Let’s face it, parenting is hard. Being a mom is harder. April knew this before her divorce, but her slacker ex-husband wasn’t much of a father, so being a single mother isn’t all that much different. Except for the need to bring home the bacon. I still don’t get the idea of social media influencer being a job, but that is what April is going for. If she can build upon her online yoga videos by creating the persona Calm Mom, maybe she can get enough sponsors so she doesn’t have to depend on the ex-husband so much.
April is a likable, empathetic character. Her kids are adorable; I loved all their odd quirks. Even though this series is about the moms, the character I loved the most was Jack. Jack is truly the calm one in this book. He brings his marketing and PR expertise to Colorado to help get April back on track after her not-so-calm shopping trip went viral. Does April find her calm? Does she get her mojo back? Does Jack have anything to do with that? Oh, yeah! I enjoyed the characters and loved the banter and dialogue. April May Fall is a quick, fun read that I devoured in one seating.

This was a fun read! I loved April. She tries really hard to be a good mom and you definitely see that. I liked reading how she does yoga. It was nice to see that even though she’s an influencer, she’s still human with a messy life. I loved seeing Jack jump into April’s world. He was so sweet with the kids. I liked that he made sure April had down time to relax. The sex scenes between them were amazing as April can be pretty flexible. I loved how supportive April’s friends are and how they all help each other with their children. I liked that the kids are normal kids not the perfect kids you sometimes reading romance books. They’re messy, loud, and quite crazy at times but that’s natural. Definitely recommend this book!
Read if you like: 3rd person dual POVs Single mom Heroine who is an influencer Realistic kids Steamy reads Supportive friends
April May Fall is my first experience with Christina Hovland's writing and I felt at a slow pace for most of the book but overall it was a fun rom-com. The romance is quite cute but the star of the book are the children and their interactions with Jack, without this dynamic the book would become tedious to say the least because the couple - although a slow burn - doesn't have as much time to develop due to the time spent in a bad plot conflict. The book gets lost in some points but gets it right in others, it all depends on what kind of reading you are into.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you Entangled Publishing and NetGalley!
(Free review copy) My favorite in the series! I read all three of the Mommy Wars books back-to-back and this is one of my new favorite romance series. The group of friends just makes me so happy and the kid stuff is always so realistic and hilarious. Can’t wait for book 4!
I loved this book! I think this is Christina Hovland's strongest work yet. If you've read this author before, you'll adore this one as well and if you haven't read any of her books, you totally should! April and Jack are well-fleshed out characters and I enjoyed the development of their relationship. Add in the fantastic neighborhood friends and this book had me giggling and at one point teary. Absolutely recommend.
April is beyond amusing to me but when Jack enters her already hectic life to help her clean up a video gone wrong they both find something neither was expecting. Super cute story
I loved this book! April is every mom trying to keep it all together. The chemistry between April and Jack is palpable, even as they encounter some comedic situations along the way. You'll fall in love with all of the characters.
I really need to start doing yoga and stretching again! Especially after all the sex positions described in this one😂 Need to get more limber!
This book follows April who is a mommy/yoga influencer who is recently divorced. They talked her into doing a live in a grocery store with her 3 kids. I think that sounds like the definition of mistake. If it went wrong it went wrong. Omg poor April and the internet came for her.
Jack came to help clean up or minimize the damage since she is his client. But also his sister is her friend.
After the very entertaining neighbor Kitty's rental is not the best she invites him to room in her house. And I can totally see how yoga could turn you on. Also, that's why my hubs watches me do yoga 🤦♀️ Those two had a spark but both weren't looking for anything serious.
Thank you for the great idea in case I forget the tooth fairy! Genius!
And seriously being a Mom is hard, every little human is different we should be building eachother up and not judging every single thing especially a 10 minute trip to the store.
Thank you entangled_publishing and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.
I had a great time with the first book and was very curious to discover April in this volume.
April is known for being the zen mom, the calm mom. But since her husband left her, she’s been far from it. Besides, her life turns into a nightmare when everyone sees her getting angry at her children on live TV. No more zen mom, no more advice… It’s a disaster! That’s when Jack, Molly’s brother, enters the scene. He works with April and his goal is to make her regain her serenity, whatever he has to do. However, he didn’t expect to fall under her and her children’s spell.
It took me a little while to get into the story, but I had a great time with the characters. It was a pleasure to meet Molly again in a few scenes and see what she became. April and Jack are touching and understand perfectly why our heroine is having a hard time dealing with what is going on around her.
This was a great read and I look forward to Christina Hovland’s next novel!
Thanks to Grey’s Promotions for the eARC in exchange of an honest review.
This book deserves all the banana (love).
•• What’s this about? ••
April Davis is an influencer mom. And she is really good teaching her followers how to stay calm through yoga. Just that she is not that calm all the time. She has three kids and an ex-husband who left her for a skydiving instructor. Her life is a mess and she is barely holding it together. During the shooting of a live video with her kids, everything goes in the wrong direction. There’s some curses, pee, screams and maybe a meltdown. And suddenly, April goes viral. So now, she has to fix her social-media reputation.
So here comes Jack Gibson to fix her mess. Jack works at the media conglomerate the purchased April’s brand. Jack moves near April’s house, but he never expected that helping her involved expending time with her kids.
His visit will turn out into tea parties, doing laundry and taking care of three beautiful but exhausting children. And maybe some sparks will fly between Jack and April.
•• What do I think about it? ••
This is the third book in the Mommy War Series, and I can’t wait to read more books like this. Christina has been mixing love and motherhood and has created three great stories. But this one, April and Jack’s story, might be my favorite one.
April is this influencer mom that we can find nowadays on Instagram. And I loved that context because is not that common. I loved April’s character because she is a modern mom who has to deal with modern problems. She knows that her kids are definitely perfect, but that doesn’t matter because she loves them just the way they are.
Jack, in the other hand, is the most wonderful man. As April said, he is a catch. He is too good to be real. Jack was a man completely committed to his work. No romance for him, please. But when he met April’s kids he couldn’t fall in love with them. He was so beautiful with them. Singing songs with Harmony, making tea parties with Lola and helping Rohan with his frog issue.
I loved that it was a Slow Burn. I love this trope. April and Jack were so cute together, even when they didn’t want to be together.
The other characters also helped to make more perfect the story. Kitty, Simone and Yelena. And Rachel and Travis from Rachel, Out of Office. The best friends Jack and April could’ve asked. Kitty and all her scenes were my favorites parts. And Travis and Jack's friendship was the cutest.
Why I recommend so much this series (not just this book)? If you are a mom, you will definitely feel related to the scenes and problems the characters have. And if you are not a mom, you will relate the characters with your own mom or you will just love how good is the mix between love and motherhood.
I can’t wait to read more about Christina, and more about this series.
April May Fall by Christina Hovland felt like a roller coaster ride read. The beginning flat-lined (for me) then I hit a high spot but then it all came sailing down and I wondered with so much of the book left how it was going to be salvaged.
April is an influencer who claims to be the Calm Mom, demonstrating yoga and calm feelings. Since her divorce she is anything but and a meltdown in a grocery store puts it all out there on social media. Now Jack who’s in charge of her “persona” flies in to save April’s career as an influencer. Of course, Jack is sexy and adorable but can he save April after all of this mess? #urinemom
First of all, I never accepted April as being anything near a Calm Mom, even when she seems half-way rational she still seems like she’s on the edge of eruption. Perhaps, if the novel had started a year or so earlier, before April’s husband, Kent, cheated on her (evidently sending her into an emotional nosedive) and we saw some form of this supposed “Calm Mom,” I might have believed it. As is, nope. April is a hot mess and there’s no indication that she hasn’t always been that or on the verge of that.
That said, once Jack showed up on the scene, April May Fall gathered momentum and I began loving it. But then April and Jack got together and it just seemed like the book lost its path. Also, they didn’t quite have chemistry. Best friend sex. At the beginning I was astounded when there was a line that said that Jack would be interested in the kind of woman April was because I wondered why. We never see her when she isn’t a mess.
However, April does become somewhat self-sufficient and declares that women should support other women and yet she’s constantly ridiculing one of my favorite characters from the novel, Kitty. Now, for some reason, as the eccentric Kitty character progressed in the novel I totally saw her as Kristin Chenoweth. Kitty is April’s neighbor who is eccentric and fun, and I seriously would have loved to have read an entire novel about her rather than April. It’s a shame that she just seemed to be the butt of April’s jokes or eye rolls.
Unlike Hovland’s other novel in the series, Rachel, Out of Office, which I reviewed in January, April May Fall was missing the laughs and warm feelings. While I loved April’s kids, especially Harmony who is going to grow up to be a superhero, and the wonderful friendship that April’s group of women shared, it all felt a little superficial. At the end, I just wanted more. Maybe that’s what comes with a novel about a somewhat social media influencer.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
APRIL MAY FALL is an absolutely charming rom-com. This new read from Hovland takes place in the same world as RACHEL OUT OF OFFICE, includes those characters as secondary, and is every bit as charming as the previous. April is an influencer on the rise - that is, until she has a publicity nightmare. A yoga-teaching calm mom, she loses her cool in a live video promoting a grocery store, when her kids knock over all the cans in an aisle, curse on camera, and manage to make a complete mess. As she struggles to put everything back to right, she also has the breakdown that has been coming since her ex-husband left her and the kids to manage everything on their own.
Luckily, she had hired Jack to help with her brand, and he is great at helping influencers/celebrities recover from mistakes. He books the first flight out to her, and he knows all he needs to do is find her space to breathe and regain her confidence. Doing so will require a bit more balance and laundry than he imagined. As they spend time together in person, they cannot deny their chemistry - however, their relationship has a clock ticking on it.
The characters in this book are incredible, from our fantastic couple to her charming and imperfect kids to the neighbors that bring in waves of comedy. I loved spending time in their world and watching their relationship grow. I absolutely fell in love with all of them, and I wish I had neighbors like hers! I laughed, I sighed, I swooned. This book is rom-com at its finest!
APRIL MAY FALL is a delightful rom-com read about finding yourself, regaining your confidence, and embracing all the mess. Highly recommend picking this one up!
Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Fun, funny, and incredibly sweet and charming, APRIL MAY FALL was a delightful romance that delivers plenty of realistic moments that most, if not all, parents can relate to. The main love interests, April and Jack, had immediate chemistry, though there was a fair bit of reluctance on Jack’s part, and that made it feel that much sweeter when they finally got together.
There’s a terrific cast of supporting characters that not only bring in extra laughs, but showcase how incredible female friendships really can be. April’s friends were uplifting, wanting only the best for her, and I absolutely loved the how Hovland showcased what positive friendships should look like. Speaking of positive, I also loved how supportive Jack was towards April, even before they got together. I tend to gravitate towards darker romances and it’s always so refreshing to encounter lovely and truly healthy relationships.
April is a single parent, and that plays a prominent role in this book. Parenting is hard, and it’s doubly so when you’re doing it solo. So many of us think we’re holding everything together, and it only takes one tiny thing out of place to make it all fall apart. Hovland doesn’t sugarcoat any of the challenges of balancing life, work, commitments, and parenting, and I loved the realistic aspect that added to the story. I laughed plenty of times during April’s parenting fails, only because I’ve been there plenty of times myself.
All told, APRIL MAY FALL is a delightfully charming single-parent romance that will just make you feel good and squishy. 4 stars, and I’ll certainly be reading more from this author.

I inhaled this one! It was so easy to fall in love with these characters. I knew almost immediately that I would love April and Jack, and April and Jack together. April's friends are amazing and also hilarious, and the moments between Jack and the kids were really sweet. I also enjoyed seeing April get back up. after she falls.
I think the reason I struggled with the Rachel book is because it seems like Christina Hovland's writing style (from what I've read and listened to, at least) is long conversations. They are cute and can be funny and give us a good feel for the dynamics between the characters, but I just don't think they translate well to audio, which is how I'd started the first book. I'm meeting the author in a few weeks and I have the Molly book ordered, so maybe I'll give Rachel another go? We'll see.
Anyway, I pretty much spent the majority of today -- which I had off of work -- reading this book and I have zero regrets. I just couldn't put it down. The chapters didn't end in cliffhangers, but I just kept finding myself going to the next one then thinking, "Wait...okay, I'll stop after this one." But then it would end and I would keep on reading. I love when books do that! I love getting pulled into a world I don't want to step out of.
I really liked this one! It was the perfect mix of fluff and substance, and fulfilled my romance craving.
I think my favorite thing about this one has to be that it was more than a romance. It was a family book, it was a book about the highs and lows of life. Nothing was perfect, nothing was even close to perfect. It was a beautiful disaster, and I loved it for that.
I also really loved April as a character! She was a mess, yes, but it was realistic. Her imperfections made her relatable, and I loved watching her grow over the story. And the best part was the reason she grew wasn't because of her newfound love, no, it was a growth in her confidence and so much more
Finally, I liked the romance in this one. It wasn't the reason I loved this, but it was still super enjoyable. I did get a bit tired of the characters dancing around the truth, but that's to be expected in any romance.
If you're in the mood for a lighthearted romance, this is for you! With a super hopeful message, it was a super fun read.
This book will be available at the end of October. April Davis is a divorced single mom in the process of sharing her 'calm' as an internet influencer. Unfortunately, things don't go quite as calmly as she would like. Not calm at all. Jack is her representative from the company that purchased her 'brand' and he shows up to help her recover and re-establish her brand. A romance, this book is funny and fun with great characters. If you have read any of Christina's books, you will know that they are well-written with laugh-out-loud humour and solid stories. To my delight, I received a free ARC of this book from the author but these are my honest opinions and this review is voluntary.
This is my first book by the author Christina Hovland. The blurb looked really nice and the book justified it. I had soo much fun reading it. I was laughing out loud when I have seen the first meeting between Jack and April's kids. The interactions between them were not only fun, they were interesting to read. And to some point educational for me. To be honest, I am not a parent and I can not imagine what exactly a single mother with 3 kids it is getting on to fix her life. April story shows the real situations in life and not only how we can move on with life, but how to make it perfect 😊. The overall pace of the story was good. The romance between April and Jack was soo sweet and cute. I loved both of them. The 3 kids had a lot of impact in the book. Jack's behaviour towards them was good, considering that a single person with no children at all, had no clue what to do. And now - The Epilogue...the epilogue was soo soo nice. I was happy to learn that April and Jack have a good and thriving life with them as partners and with the kids.
My ratings for the book: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
