Hi! I'm Gray. I'm best known for my series, The Protector Guild - an 8-book completed series filled with all things angst and chaotic hijinks. I'm currently working on my second series, Order of Reapers, which is the follow up to The Protector Guild. At the moment, there are 10 books published in what I'm calling 'The Gray-verse.' Sounds ominous, right?

What can you expect from my stories?

First, you have to love a slow burn, angsty romance. I tend to get quite bored when my characters are happy and together, which is why I keep them in various stages of misery and yearning for as long as I can *que evil laugh.* Yes, my books are spicy, but they are far more focused on the plot of the story and character development (MUST LOVE INTERNAL CHARACTER MONOLOGUES OR I PROMISE YOU WILL HATE MY WRITING STYLE). Finally, both of my series focus on themes of and around the following: trauma, mental health, grief, community, found family, moral complexity, and dismantling oppressive systems (yes, yes, amongst the chaotic fun of a fantastical world and characters unabashedly pining for each other).

Sound like your jam? Great! Dive right in :D

As for me, when I'm not writing or reading or funneling entire seasons of TV into my brain in one night, I can be found hanging out with my cartoonish dog, staring at a wall for hours on end while I think through some tricky bit of character or plot arc, paddleboarding/kayaking alongside the local seals and sea lions (don't worry, I keep a respectful distance!), or pretending to enjoy camping. One day it will click for me. I hope.

This one was a little slower and less exciting imo. Honestly, I'm annoyed that Reza is even still a thing at this point. We are 6 books into a RH series and we are still having other woman drama. At this rate, the rest of the characters won't know they're all bonds until book 15. It's annoying that they're all not acknowledging that Max has 5 bonds, that all of them are her bonds, and no one is looking into why she has more bonds/natural bonds when no one else has real bonds anymore/that many bonds.

This book was just generally lighter on the romance than the previous ones. Sure, there were a few really strong spicy scenes, but I felt like most of the chapters were plot, plot, and more plot. Do we really need to learn about every single characters' family tree and keep bringing in new characters (Levi, Dani, Sarah's mom, Atlas/Wade's dad, Sam, etc.). We are getting detailed descriptions of every action that all of the characters' parents did before they died (Declan's parents, Ro's parents, Max's parents), and I just don't care.

The ending made me sad--this group really needs a win, and I really need them to finally all be together so then they can move forward with saving the world. And Reza needs to die...or I hope Atlas's bond with her failed/didn't take (OR maybe the forced fake bond will kill her?!). I'm just over her...I'd rather still have Jer around than her. Also, I don't care about Sarah...she seemed like she had a little thing going with her wolf alpha in hell and Nash--she can go back to them lol. I'm also surprised no one has even discussed if Sarah's bond still exists with Wade/Atlas, and if so, how were they able to form bonds with Max anyways...

Eli is still meh. We didn't get enough Darius in this one. I used to love Atlas, and now I am over him for going through with that bond with Reza. Wade being into dirty talk and being dominant was a very nice surprise during their spicy scene--I liked it.

Anyways, I still like this series, but this is dragging a little at this point. And it seems like book 7 is going to end on a cliffhanger too....how many books are going to be in this series?! It doesn't seem like it's anywhere near the end at the pace we've been going at. This was a filler book.

Character development is getting stronger, the slow burn romance is starting to turn up the heat, and the plot is really chugging now. Happy I stuck with it, because the crescendo is coming and the pacing is excellent.

I unfortunately read this too quickly to properly individually review each book without spoilers (they were just so good I couldn’t put them down 😩) my full review on the whole series will be on book 8. But my generic review for the earlier ones, I’m so sorry.

Max and Rowan have lived their whole lives off grid with their guardian Cyrus, he has trained them and cared for them as they were his own, but tried to shelter them from the Guild as much as he could. Their run in with a werewolf deemed the inevitable that the Guild was changing and forced them to move in. The action in this really keeps you on the edge of your seat, you’re constantly aching for more, and the cliffhangers?! I don’t know how anyone DOESNT binge this entire series I couldn’t not read the next book??? I needed answers!!

This is the slowest of slow burns as far as romance (I’m talking several BOOKS in slow) but boooyyyyy the payoff is SO WORTH IT!! I love literally every MMC and both FMC’s this is my first why choose with two F’s in the group and I’m loving it. I cannot wait to see how it ends.

Each book gets better and better I swear!!

I think Tessa Hale fans would love this (I am one so I can confirm 😉)

What to expect:
💞 Why Choose (MFFMMM) - I think that’s the right “order”
🐺 Shifters
❤️‍🔥 SLOOOOOWWWWW burn (the buildup is a couple books)
🐕‍🦺 Hellhound Sidekick
💘 Reluctant Fated Mates
😈 Enemies to Lovers
🩸 Vampires, Wolves, Etc
🌎 World Building
🌶️ Spice (comes around book 3)

How dare you!!!!!! WHAT GOSH DAMN CLIFF HANGER IS THAT!!!!! And because the books not released I have to wait!
I enjoyed this book, less on the spice (which didn’t bother me) definitely plot heavy, which I really like in a book anyway, I do feel like everything is been talked through, who’s tied in here, parent’s relationships/deaths/trauma/etc which for characters that I’m not as invested in I found a bit boring (sorry Declan but I honestly don’t care)(team emotionally damaged and totally toxic Atlas)
Speaking of him… there’s not much of him, when he does make an appearance the holy trumpets start to play and angels sing cause gosh those snippets are beautiful, not last book beautiful but still seeing more too him.

I’m just still pissed on that cliff hanger and I just know the next book will take ages to get to the pov I need.

I need book 7. NOW!!!

Wow, what a ride this series has been. Such an emotional read this has been from start to finish but I love the humor as well. I was laughing like crazy at times and close to tears at others. But such a great series this has been! I can't want to read the finale!

Max makes a deal with Lucifer to let her go back to the Guild so she can heal her brother Ro and then she will come back to Hell and train with him. He agrees since he needs her to look for something at the Guild anyways.
Wade stays back to train his own powers and as leverage. They rest of the crew go home. Darius and Sarah stay in town at a hotel. Darius remonds Max how much he belongs to her now.
They show back up at the Guild and she goes to heal Ro. She gives too much and passes out. Into a dream with Wade. He has better room accommodations now and shows her exactly what he has learns about his incubus since she has been gone.
Atlas's dad, Tarren, confronts him for leaving and how he's going to get Atlas back on track. That includes bonding with Reza. Gross. Atlas also decides that to protect Max, he has to stay away from her.
Max is back to living at Team 10 and Reza moves back in with Team 6.
Eli and Max decide to go down to the Lab to see if they can feel the 'shadow magic' that Lucifer wants her to look for. It's still awkward between them. On their way, they run into someone Max has never met. Eli's brother, Levi.
Max teleports to the hotel unintentionally. She ends up doing a movie night with Darius and decides that shes done hiding her feelings about him. Darius can feel their bond.
Max is still having trouble controlling her power and it's time for her to go back to Hell. The team goes on a mission to Seatlle where Max, Dec, and Darius slip away to Hell. They end up at Lucifers where Max trains. Time is messed up there so it's only been 2 weeks on earth, but a month in Hell. Now Lucifer can bring her to hell any time he wants.
Max and Declan admit their feelings to each other and it is confirmed that Max also has a bond to her. They get to leave Hell with Wade getting to go home too.
Sarah is missing. It's been a month on Earth (4 days in Hell). Atlas's wolf seems relieved that Max is back. Apparently Atlas and Reza are having their bonding ceremony the next day and Team Six is being disbanded. Dec's aunt also want her and Eli to be bonded. Ro is missing.
Ro comes back, Jer is dead.
The night before the bonding ceremony, Atas is drawn to Max. He kisses her and then pulls back. He doesn't want to bond to anyone but Max, but he's going to do it to keep Max safe.
Max is drawn to Atlas and Reza's bonding ceremony. She's in oain. Is this really breaking the bond her and Atlas have??? She also realizes the thing they're using to do the bonding ceremony is the shadow power that Lucifer is looking for.
Sarah was captured and is in the lab.
Sirens start around the Guild. Headquarters is being attacked. Darius and Wade show up to protect Max. Them and Dec head to find the rest of their group. They find Izzy, Ro, Eli, Cy, and Altas (along with more on campus) fighting a whole hoard of demons. Not just vampires and werewolves. Max realizes they're going to lose. She unleashes her fire and burns them to the ground. When she comes back to herslef, Tarren focuses on her. He's heard about her and realizes the monsters were after her. Everyone moves at once. Cy grabs Max and the bolt meant for Max goes through Cy's heart. Max teleports her and Cy away.
Atlas wolfed out and jumped between his dad and Max. Tarren also got sight of Wade, back from the dead. Wade and Darius take off after Max. Eli calls them. He and Dec got away but Tarren tranqualized Atlas and took him.

Fashioned by Flames picks up right after the big revelation that ended book 5, and put Max' world completely upside down. With the entire crew in Hell, life isn't exactly safer for any of them while Max tries to get control over her powers.

"The Protector Guild" is one of my favorite ongoing series and I absolutely loved this next part. It's the biggest book in the series so far, and it still ended way too soon. The plot development is on point, with enough twists and turns to keep me intrigued until the end, and I loved how things really heated up between Max and Darius, and Max and Declan. Darius is my all-time favorite book boyfriend. Whenever someone asks who would be a part of my own fictional harem, he is front and center in my mind. I love how he's both smug and vulnerable and how much he truly cares for Max. The chapters in his POV were my absolute favorite, although Declan is starting to get a solid second place. I love how this ff relationship develops, and while I assume the final book will focus on Eli and Atlas, I still hope Declan and Darius will have their own place in the story.

Fashioned by Flames is a great addition to the Protector Guild series, and while I can't wait to read the final book, I'm also a bit sad to see the end of their story getting closer. I highly recommend this series to everyone who loves PNR RH.

2⭐️1.7🌶️

I finally finished this book, and after 6 long, drawn out books the plot is going somewhere.

This book was even slower than that last one, six books in and we still don’t know anything plot wise, is the main problem that hell is rupturing?
Is there even one of the bond solidified?
Is she really that bad with her magic?
Is Max going to do something other than whine and swallow in self pity?
Are the relationships going to be more developed or meaningful? Because they’re being left behind and there still too much angst between characters at this point of the series.

Honestly I’m so bored with this series, there’s a lot happening but still everything feels unfinished, the repetitiveness has become tiresome, the characters are just there, with no development or growth in sight and the plot is based in Max being a demon but not knowing how to use her powers.

I really want to stop reading this series but Im already this far in the series so I need to push through.

I’m still along for the ride but I’m kind of over the number of times the word “niave” is used to describe Max, as well as them having secret conversations in the open. This should have been half the length and added to the previous book.

There was much more action in this book and things seem to be moving along. Max has bonded to her harem members. I'm a little frustrated with the plot because I feel like things are veering in different directions. All the lies and secrecy could have been avoided and appear unnecessary. I feel like the Guild is bad, but even Cyrus and Seamus can't be exonerated because neither of them did much to try to fix things. Same with Sarah's mom. She knew what happened to Declan's parents and yet basically complied so she didn't have problems. These are supposedly intelligent people who can't seem to figure out how to find like minded people are start a rebellion against the guild.

We can also question why Lucifer isn't able to do anything when he's powerful. He can have portals opened and send demons through to try to fix things. Yet it appears that all he does is flit around hell looking for solutions. I really don't understand why he pretty much hates his own kid considering that she's basically a miracle since pregnancy and live births are rare. Yes, he's hurt/angry with her mom. But hating your kid for her mother's sins? Weird

My biggest complaint is the whole Atlas thing. I don't get why he complies with everything his dad wants. He's an adult. I get that in their society they bond for power and protection. What I don't get is how parents have the right to force bonds on their adult children. Atlas is trying to protect Max by doing what he's doing, but I still don't get it. Is his dad going to murder her outright if Atlas is bonded to her? It's not making sense to me. And, I'll be honest, he comes across as so WEAK! I want to like him, but I can't stand him. He treats Max like crap. He acts like he's superior to everyone. He can't say "no" to his dad. What good is he?

I'll keep reading because that ending requires it. While I like the progress in this book, I'm ready for this series to end.

Oh my dear…. THE ENDING! There is no way I can wait a year to see how the series ends! I really like that she finally used her powers and was able to save everyone. Well almost everyone but it sucks that one died and another was captured! First can we agree that Atlas is an idiot.. thats it, full sentence. Next Darius is just my absolute favorite vampire mate. He never denied her and always did anything for her. Wade was all in from the beginning. It sucks that he was basically mia the whole series but I get they needed to get to hell somehow. Eli… oh Eli. I wanted him to get his shit together so much quicker. I can’t wait for that bond to snap into place. Declan is so sweet. She really is the mother of the group. Even if she is the grumpy mother. Seeing her and Darius build their friendship is so sweet. The way that he starts taking care of her even though he knows she probably hates him. And that she teased him with the vampire books and movies and the “bite me” tshirt. He thinks she’s his favorite out of the other 4 mates of Maxs and it really is adorable the way he just out right cares for her and she mentally is surprised with herself when she finds herself starting to like him. So many questions getting into the next book. Where is Ro? Izzy? How are they going to free atlas? Even though they should just leave his ass there. He choose Rizza. Let his new bond mate save his ass from his crazy father. I know that probably wouldn’t happen but honestly I would be so happy if they did. I really hope they all have a serious conversation next book, acknowledge the bonds and just mate already because we are 6 books in and only have 2/5 completed bonds.oh and we can’t forget about the sweetest hellhound- Ralph. Can’t wait to see him and his “friend” again :)

Theres the slow burn trope and then theres this book series...
6 books... 6 books and still no fully formed bonds... its like the author took the definitions of "slow burn" and miscommunication trope and went "challenge accepted."
It’s giving CW tv show vibes…

Theres just constant new conflict without any resolution to the previous conflict or even an attempt to resolve it. Granted its an over arching plot across all the books but theres no book specific plot resolution... just more conflict building... by time I finished this book I was annoyed enough with needing to figure out how the rest of its playing out.. kind of like a car crash...
We will see if I still care enough to read the next book in 3 months when it comes out.

The ending on this book. Im just! Ugh! Then the bonds! Ugh UGH UGH! This one had me so emotional. There was so much happening, so much emotions. Well onto the next book. I have to continue the binge!!

This is book 6 in the Protector Guild Series. The Romance in this book remains a why choose with some of the relationships becoming more concrete, while the others are crumbling under the pressure. This book is spicy as expected with the discovery of Max’s new abilities, and so many partners to choose from. This book moves at a steady pace following Max as she, and the team head back to the guild to try to uncover information to help them on their mission. Unfortunately things have become dire, and the tension has reached a boiling point. Them being at the guild may be a choice that could expose all of them. Putting all their lives at risk. With new faces mixed into the fray this puts even more pressure on them all. This book is full of action, and informative as it has many of the characters opening up. The book is also full of heart ache as many unexpected events fall into our favorite characters laps. Be prepared to want to pick up the next book immediately because this book will have you needing more as you read the last page.

I'm wishing September was already here!

Oh my goodness I'm loving these books they are def slow burn nothing fast which I like because the characters get to build that bond and forge it into love and partnership. This book brought so many things to light 2 new bonds we're made and new truths were found out. Poor Max is in the middle of everything and I love how the author genuinely doesn't make her the know all be all. She's fighting everything like a 19yr old would she's finding her own path while forging Allies and just seems lost sometimes but she's making it her own. I like that each character has built and grown with the story and we don't just get the story from one POV but from all. It's really hard to have a favorite. You have strong broody Atlas, cute boy next door Wade, sexy as soon play boy Eli, strong silent loyal Dec and playful jokester deadly sexy Darius. And then there's max and she's sort of the innocent bad ass that's loyal and liveable and just wants everyone to love her like she loves them.

I can't wait for the next book I'm pretty much stalking Kindle and anywhere I can for glimpses of it.

How does she do this to me?

I usually am no fan of the slow burn but the incredible story telling, all the storylines and world building just keep me coming back for more.

This one was no different and now I cannot wait for the next one. It picks up right where the last book left off.

Max and her team are balancing on a knife edge between danger and hope, but how will things continue when half the team would be killed if the protectors discovered them? Lots of hiding and secrets are uncovered as they struggle to navigate a world in chaos and their relationships reach the points of no return.

I’m a huge fan of Darius, so I loved all his POVs but also, Atlas and Declan are enigmas, they get some POVs in this book that give lots of insight to their characters.

All in all it was a really good one but as always, beware the Cliff!

How long until the next one? Hopefully not too bad a wait!

Not much happened in the 6th book

I really liked the other books, they all got 5 stars but I was hoping for some character growth, relationship growth, just overall growth in this 6th installment. But, it didn’t have much growth at all. At this point, I feel like the books can be compiled together and then there would only be like 3 installments instead of 6. Like 1 & 2 could have just been book 1. 3 & 4 could have been book 2 … etc.

I had hoped there would be a climax with Atlas and him ignoring the bond but it didn’t happen….. then the cliff hanger came and I was sooooo disappointed.

This says book 6 out of 8 but it seems like there should be more books to finish the story fully and at this rate, I feel like the last two books will be a rushed ending and I’ll feel like there was no closure and unsatisfied.

NOT MY DADDY CYRUSSS 😫😫😫😫😫 that ending ahhhh and atlas

5 stars so far for every book in this series

Issues : biggest slow burn. 6 books in and no one said their feelings each other yet LMAOOO at least not the way to seal it. Everyone has their doubts except maybe Darius and wade but they still haven’t really said it said it ya feel.

Can’t wait till the next book and I hope the author gray will release the last one book 8 much sooner!! Not next year 😫. I always forget the plot and characters when I wait for the next book to come out for a year. And I don’t have the same thrill as I do when I finish a book and ready to jump on the next. But whatever this is how every book series goes.
Love this authors writing and the personalities just wished for it to not be this much of a slow burn but at the same time it kept everyone on their toes.

Oh my god that cliff hanger so glad that I can just love into the next one!

I mean I kinda saw something happening to Cy but to kill him man! Also I hope Ro and Izzy are okay and join the gang of misfits also poor fucking Atlas I’m not sure what Tarren is going to do to him and Sarah but I don’t think it’s good. I bet they are pushing the bonds onto any protectors they can because it’s what helps keep the Hell Relm weak and because the bonds happen less and less and are forced in most cases and not true bonds it is kinda fracturing it. I hope Ro and Izzy also don’t face backlash because they were close with Max as well as 10 because let’s admit Tarren doesn’t seem like a reasonable guy and seems like he will punish anyone Max is associated with. I am so far into this series and have all sorts of theories 😅😅
Such a great job Gray I love your writing.

6 books into a RH series and she’s not even in a relationship with them yet 🙄🙄 Sure she’s fucked a few of them, but one of those guys is bonding with someone that’s not her 🤦🏻‍♀️

Listen- regardless of what story he tells himself, Atlas is garbage for choosing to bond with Reza. He chose to bond with her *knowing* it was going to hurt Max emotionally AND physically. Knowing Reza is a mean girl who lived to torment Max. He’s can say it’s they only way to protect her, but that’s bullshit. He was an asshole to her from the beginning and this was the cherry on top of the shit sundae.

Frankly, I want her to say “fuck you” and walk away. But instead she literally just said “I understand” when he kissed her the night before his bonding ceremony and sent him on his way back to the other woman 🙄

Ugh. Darius and the hellhound are the only ones worth anything.

I started off loving this series

I started off loving this series. A lot of books that are short and they cram a ton of stuff into the book and it's smooth
Not so much with this book and the last. Parts were skipped over and not explained, I thought i wasn't listening and missed a bunch of things, but that wasn't the case, it just skipped over a bunch of stuff and didn't go back or explain. Finally at the end things started happening and it wasn't max sleeping with everyone right after the other (annoying) or swooming after one person only to sleep with another, that was a lot. I really hope the next couple of books are terrible.

My trip to hell created more questions than answers. Now, I need to figure out who I am—and who I can trust—before it’s too late.

With threats of an apocalypse looming over our heads, Six and I travel back to The Guild. But when we get there, the arrival of some new faces complicates our mission. And if any of them find out that we’re more than the protectors we’re pretending to be…we’re royally screwed.

As if that’s not enough, my nifty new powers keep hopping into action when I least expect them to. If I don’t get them under control soon, we’ll stand no chance at winning this battle. The key to stabilizing them? Well, let’s just say it might require me to figure out exactly what I want from the members of Six.

This is book 6 of The Protector Guild Series. It picks up where book 5 ended off with Max life turned upside down and max trying to get control of her powers.
As this series comes to a close in these last books and we come to the conclusion, I am aware i am going to miss all theses characters in these books as I have enjoyed thier journey from book one. Its been a great series to ve a part of reading and I look forward to what ever grey pulls out of her brilliant brain. I am sure she will blow us away again.

THESE CLIFFHANGER ENDINGS ARE GONNA BE THE DEATH OF ME I SWEAR

So much happened in this book omg

I think this was a great little addition to the story! I’m glad we finally got to see Max and Declan…talk to each other and start to figure things out between them!

Atlas is driving me crazy still but it’s fine cause I love him

I’m super excited to see Max come fully into her powers cause I just know she’s gonna be even more badass than she already is!

I need September to hurry up! I need the next book rn!
