Apparently being frozen for ten years hasn't made me any cooler...

The next in the hot series about a girl whose life is really on the rocks.

Floe Ryan was frozen at sixteen because of a rare disease. Now she's been thawed back to her normal self-but everything else has changed: her little sister's older than her, her teachers are holograms, and she's learning to drive a hovercar. Plus, with her boyfriend acting distant and having to deal with all the cliques, high school is becoming an even colder place. She's also learned that those who were frozen are susceptible to illnesses, and the one doctor who can cure them has gone AWOL. Floe must find him. But she's learning that someone might be hunting for her too-and she could be iced for good this time.

Lots of relationship drama in this one! Arguably, more relationship drama than actual plot driven drama.

Floe is happily dating Taz. Then they break up. Then she tries to make him jealous. Then they semi-sort of think about getting back together. Then they break up. They they are together. And on and on and on. Seriously, DRAMA.

The book is supposed to be about Floe learning that the popsicles (thawed out people) are immune deficient and therefore need some more scientific discoveries to help boost their immune systems and cure them. She's also back in the Valley and has new friends. Who also have relationship drama.

It's not a bad story (not a great story), but it definitely doesn't live up to it's predecessor.

This was a really disappointing second installment in this series...the plotline had a lot of holes, Floe's stalker makes absolutely no sense and the whole book is really thin. Also, the technological aspect is beyond lame...granted, it's hard to imagine things that haven't ben invented yet, but in Floe's Q&A newsletter, she mentions there are no more storms because we've managed to fix greenhouse gases. Umm...storms are a necessary part of nature and without them the planet would die. Storms existed before people and will exist after us. Hopefully there will be no more books in this series. ;)

Popsicle girl is back, except hardly anyone knows that she ever was a popsicle to begin with.

Floe Ryan was just getting used to the new world she lived in, having been frozen while the whole nation was changing. From hovercars to wacky fashions, it was definitely a different place. But it's a good thing that Floe has her family and her supportive boyfriend to back her up... right?

Well, Floe's life may have just gotten even more dramatic. Her boyfriend, Taz, seems to be questioning their relationship, and Samara, one of Floe's classmates, is flirting up a storm with him. But that may not matter since a new guy is finding interest in Floe. Everything else, though, is just going downhill, from driving to her teachers to skating.

But what's worse is when Floe learns that those who were frozen, like she was, just might possibly be at a greater risk to catch other harmful viruses. This is the perfect chance for Floe, her best friend, Sophie, and even Taz to set out on a mission. All they need to do is find Dr. Simkofsky, who will help them find a cure for these viruses. Unfortunately, he isn't the easiest to track down. But, who knows, maybe this will be the perfect chance for Floe and Taz to reconnect... just maybe.

BEYOND COOL makes cryonics awesome and leaves you wanting more. Bev Katz Rosenbaum makes you wonder what is possible in the near future for our world, and in Floe Ryan's. This is a sequel that will satisfy anyone who loved the first novel, I WAS A TEENAGE POPSICLE.

In this sequel to 2006's "I Was a Teenage Popsicle", we continue to follow Floe Ryan's life, now dealing with newly unfrozen parents who refuse to learn about the new inventions of the future, an evasive boyfriend, and a new problem with the unfreezing process, and all of this on top of learning how to hoverdrive (it is much harder than it looks!) and continuing to live with being a frozen zombie. Could Floe's life be any more full?

This is one hilarious book; I could not stop laughing all the way through. There are very many laugh-out-loud moments and scenes throughout, which makes for one great book. Bev is a fantastic writer, flowing everything together in such a beautiful and funny fashion, throwing in pop culture references from the future and cool new inventions. This book does not disappoint!!

Beyond Cool is a totally fun ride with Floe an appealing and ‘can do’ heroine as ever. She continues to be an inspiration to readers with her fearless and unstoppable nature.

The glimpses into the not so distant future are fun, (and I thought driving a normal car was hard?!) not to mention the pop culture references – Apple Martin is rocking up the music charts and though no one has heard of Tom and Katie, Suri Cruise is the latest teen queen. Not to mention what to do when your ‘noughties’ clueless classmates want to write their paper on the culturally significant musical contributions of ... K-Fed!

Beyond Cool is a must read. So curl up, chill and check it out!

This book wasn't as great as the first one (which I highly recommend). I think the plot was good, but the ending was too perfect and wrapped up quickly.
