Using this listing to review the webcomic "I became the Youngest Prince in the Novel", up to 51 chapters and what appears to be the end of season 2. I'm super annoyed it's not finished, because I was really enjoying it and I have no idea if it's on permanent hiatus or not.
This story is a really fresh take on the reincarnation/transmigration/time travel MC trope; instead of going back in time or reliving a failed life, the MC is transported into the future into one of his own descendants, which is perfect because he'd become bored with being the most amazingly powerful emperor of all time and could really do with a challenge. His ruthless, manipulative attitude makes it more fun when he goes on a quest to "win" in some fundamental way. He is not playing: to unify this fracturing empire, he fully intends to kill anyone who gets in his way. Similarly, instead of using his knowledge of the novel to recruit the original protagonists, he instead goes out of his way to recruit the antagonists and leave the protagonists to their own devices.
Overall, this was just really fun. I really liked that the MC wasn't motivated by some selfless desire to save the world, or right their past wrongs, or something equally righteous. He's just straight up tyrant material and he knows it.
English title: I Became the Youngest Prince in the Novel
Synopsis: The novel "Chronicles of the Hero of Frosimar" is a story about the failures of the protagonist, not the successes.
"This is terrible."
The First Emperor, who conquered the whole world, closed his eyes with a brief appreciation (after reading the novel). But the moment he opened his eyes again, there were only a few lines about him in the "Chronicles of the Hero of Frosimar." This was because he became an imprisoned prince who met death with his first appearance (in the novel).
