Love at first sight is for fairy tales and romance novels. Or so they thought…
Wyatt is finally ready to pursue his dream of becoming a brewer, and Havenport is the perfect place to do it. Love is nowhere on his agenda—especially after his last romantic disaster. But all it takes is one look at a sexy songbird onstage to make him question everything he thought he ever wanted…
Sylvie is tired of struggling. She’s ready to leave her songwriting dreams—and Havenport—in her rearview once and for all. But then she meets a tall, rugged bartender who makes her wonder if sticking around just a little longer might be worth it…
He’s putting down roots. She’s a flight risk. Can they find their way to happily ever after? Or is their romance doomed to end on a sour note?
Dad Bod Bartender, a standalone novella, features a hunkalicious nice guy hero, a quirky musician heroine, and lots of small town charm. May also contain VW buses, hot, steamy times, instalove, musical references, witty banter, and gratuitous appearances by the Quinn Brothers. If this is your first visit to Havenport – welcome and get ready to swoon!
In High School, Daphne Elliot was voted “most likely to become a romance novelist.” After spending the last decade as a corporate lawyer, she has finally embraced her destiny. Her small town steamy novels are filled with flirty banter, sexy hijinks, and lots and lots of heart.
Daphne is a coffee-drinking, hot-sauce loving introvert who spends all her free time in her garden. She lives on a small farm in New England with her husband, two kids, two dogs, twelve backyard chickens and a hive of Italian honeybees.
"Neither of us was perfect, but we were perfect together." This was a really cute novella, with a twist on body issues that I really appreciated. It's usually the heroines who feel self-conscious about their bodies, so it was refreshing to see it happening to the hero. I also liked that it brought to light, albeit briefly, the fact that a bad relationship can really do a number on your head and make you feel less than and unworthy.
Sylvie and Wyatt meet at a bar. Sylvie is there singing, Wyatt is bartending. There's something between them from the start, so it's very insta-love, but it's also so sweet. It's hard not to fall in love with Wyatt. He's just freaking perfect, in every way. I had a harder time connecting to Sylvie, simply because I wish she were stronger. Sometimes her reasons didn't seem like enough for me.
"Waking up to you is the best thing that’s ever happened to me." The connection between them is more than physical. Both of them are struggling to follow their dreams, to see their true worth and move beyond what other people think or expect from them. They build each other up from the start, while also falling deeper in love with each other. And they love openly, unabashedly.
"But you showed me what it means to be brave and chase my dreams. I want to make music and wake up next to you every single day." What captivated me about this story is that these two people may not be perfect in the eyes of everyone else, but they are perfect for each other. And in the end, that's all that really matters.
A wonderfully sweet read that put a huge smile on my face. Song writer and music teacher Sylvie Morgan is a few weeks from leaving Havenport and her dreams behind to start a new corporate job she doesn’t want.
Just before she’s about to go, she meets Wyatt Ford who just moved to the charming fishing village or Havenport, Massachusetts to mend a broken heart, follow his dream of becoming a brewmaster while starting an apprenticeship at the local brewery.
The two have electric chemistry and instant connection. He falls for Sylvie’s talent, beauty and kind heart. She senses he’s protective and sweet, and witnesses how he wears his heart on his sleeve. It’s impossible not to like both characters, but I especially loved Wyatt’s support towards Sylvie.
Even though the story is short and fast-paced the characters are well developed and their story is lighthearted, sweet, and steamy. I can’t wait to come back to Havenport and read more of Daphne’s stories.
➵ Facts: Dad Bod Bartender is a standalone novella by author Daphne Elliot. Told from both POV with a happy ending. Other tropes: insta-love | small town
Another great read by Daphne Elliot! I loved the instant connection between Wyatt and Sylvie. They’re both a little low on confidence and honestly just needed each other to get over their pasts and hurdles.
While this was a novella, Daphne did a great job showing us both characters in depth and had us rooting for and invested in both of them.
ARC “Dad Bod Bartender” A Havenport Novella by Daphne Elliott
Daphne Elliott once again does not disappoint as she introduces us to another Havenport Hunk. “Dad Bod Bartender” is a sweet and fun quick read that had me turning pages as quickly as possible.
This book introduces us to Wyatt and Sylvie. Leaving behind a toxic relationship and finally following his dream, Wyatt comes to Havenport to take on an apprenticeship with Liam at his brewery. During his shift, he noticed the beautiful and talented musician on stage. Sylvie had him hook, line and sinker from the moment he lays eyes on her. “And all I could think was “I found her.” - Wyatt. Such a simple statement; but holds so much truth)
When they were both around one another you could sense the attraction, respect and sexual tension a mile away! When they finally give into one another … holy hotness! It was totally freaking hot! 🔥🔥 “ Wyatt may have been quiet and unassuming, but he kissed like a sexy beast. And I wanted more. A lot more.” - Sylvie
Daphne Elliott has the tendency to not always write about the “norm.” In one previous book she wrote, the male main character was the one who suffered from severe anxiety. What I liked about “Dad Bod Bartender,” was how a very important topic was talked about. (I’m not going to tell you what it is. I wouldn’t want to spoil it. Lol) Normally, the female is the one on the receiving end of this topic. Once again, Daphne Elliott reminds us, stuff like this does not only happen to females. It can happen to anyone!
Another great book by Daphne Elliot! Must be on your TBR list.
This was my first book by this author and first in the Men Built for comfort series…
I enjoyed the blurb and thought to give it a try. The story is cute. Wyatt; recently out of a bad relationship and finally following his dream of becoming a brewer. He’s in a new town he loves with a job he’s finally happy with.
Cue in Sylvie…she has been in this town forever. Ready for a change of scenery but at the cost of giving up her music. She’s too self conscious to open her heart of music in public and is deciding on moving in 3-weeks for a “big girl job”.
When they meet, sparks fly and take off from there. Insta-love at its finest. Can Sylvie follow her heart and show the world her music while keeping Wyatt?
This was a cute story. However I found the author going into detail on things we didn’t need. For such a short story already, I found myself skipping ahead and skimming over things that didn’t even really matter for the storyline. The heat was maybe PG13, in my opinion, not steamy. I enjoyed the authors writing style and will check out more books, but this one wasn’t for me.
*Overall 3/5 *Heat? 2/5 *Dual first person POV *Quick read (maybe 1.5 hrs with no skipping) *Insta-love *MF Romance *HEA? Yes
Having gotten into Ms.Elliot's Havenport world last year i've been looking so forward to more from this author! The second that i saw a teaser for this story i couldn't wait to pick it up! When i found out we were heading back to Havenport i was so happy! I got into it as soon as i could. I really enjoyed this story!
Wyatt and Sylvie's journey hooked me from the moment these two locked eyes! I was so glad that i got to get into their minds and how i fell hard for both of them. I loved the chemistry between these two and how they were so relatable! Both of them had me feeling so much as well!
With Dad Bod Bartender, Ms.Elliot has created such a great read that'll touch your heart! It definitely brought the best kind of feels and left me smiling! Makes me want to find my very own Wyatt one day! If you haven't picked up the Havenport books, you so need to! I can't wait for more from this author!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
Back to Havenport with this sweet little novella :) it's a small-town, insta-love ish trope, and it was beautiful.
The parallel between the MCs was amazing - the MMC has just started on the path to realizing his dreams, and the FMC has just decided to give up on her dreams. Both MCs are also suffering from a lack of confidence in themselves due to their exes/parents. They meet one random day and hit it off - though it was insta-love, the MCs spend a lot of time hanging out, and the relationship was developed beautifully. It had a good third-act conflict, and a cool hea (and that bonus epilogue was ❤️)
You guys dad bod bartender by @daphneelliotauthor was sooo cute, refreshing, sweet, sexyyyy, had so many swooning moments and just all around great !! This story had a reverse tell on body insecurities with Wyatt being the one who had self confidence issues and Sylvie was right there to reassure him and let him know he is ALL MAN 🙌🏻 the chemistry is instant and although they face some hurdles with careers, family and self doubt these two know right from the start they are something special🖤🖤 if you want a sexy romantic cute make you feel all the things novella go get this now !!!
What a cute, steamy novella! I devoured it in one sitting and loved it. Wyatt is cinnamon roll on the next level--so sweet and determined to treat Sylvie like a queen. Sylvie has some decisions to make and can't believe she's met this perfect guy a few weeks before moving to start a new job. Will she stay in town--both to pursue her love of music and Wyatt--or will she go? Snatch this one up. It will make you smile, for sure!
This is an OK romance, with a likable couple, but it was too short to have as much character development as I like. I knew that it was short when I decided to read it, but I needed more backstory on both Wyatt and Sylvie.
The couple does fall in instalove, which was a little hard to believe -- since Wyatt had just been dumped by his girlfriend. I get that he had already realized she wasn't right for him, but she had severely damaged his self-esteem with her constant criticism. I think it would have been a while before he was ready to date again, much less fall in love.
I did really like that Wyatt supported Sylvie in her dreams of a songwriting career. Her parents were awful to her about it, but Wyatt's belief in her helped. I couldn't stand her parents, though -- they were just terrible to her and to Wyatt.
Wyatt and Sylvie were both likable, and I liked that there didn't seem to be much of an age gap with them.
I also really liked that Wyatt wasn't the perfectly fit, chiseled male that is in most romances -- but was instead a good looking man who just happened to carry a little extra weight. I appreciate that the authors of this series understand that men (and women) don't need to have perfect bodies to be attractive.
One thing that bothers me a little about a lot of the stories in this series is the book covers (although it doesn't apply on this cover). This is just my personal opinion, and it did NOT affect my rating, but I can't stand the heavy beards on many of the men. I know they are popular right now, but I don't like beards like that. A short, nicely trimmed beard is fine -- but those huge, thick beards are just not my cup of tea.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
When I first heard that there was a group of authors setting out to write a whole series based on hefty heroes. I was beyond excited! I mean I'm all for a hero is doesn't have the 6-12 pack abs. The one who is like a giant teddy bear and can be cuddled with and keep you nice and warm on those cold nights ;)
I really liked Wyatt and Sylvie. Wyatt has been held back from pursuing his dreams for far too long. After catching his ex cheating on him he is finally ready to make the leap and live for himself and no longer let other's opinions bring him down. Moving to Havenport to mentor with Liam is the perfect place to finally gain the experience he needs in an actual brewery. Sylvie is a singer and songwriter. She dreams of being a songwriter, however after being put down by an ex, who was in the music industry, and being rejected she doesn't believe her material is good enough. So she's finally ready to put these dreams in her rearview mirror and do something that will finally make her parents proud of her. Love wasn't in the mix for either one of these two. From the moment they meet, or lock eyes really, there is not denying the sparks between them. But Sylvie is leaving....is it too late for these two?
Okay - I am in love with Daphne’s writing. She writes realistic adults with realistic outcomes and I am here for it all!
Sylvie won my heart with her upbeat personality and I related to her on so many levels. She is so sweet, brave and talented and I adored seeing her take her life choices in her own hands.
Wyatt is a total sweetheart and hopeless romantic. I am completely head over heels for this teddy bear and loved seeing him grow and find his confidence again.
This may be a novella, but Daphne packed it so much heart. I love how she brought these characters together and how they helped each other in finding the courage to go after what they want. It’s sweet, has the perfect amount of heat and so many swoon worthy moments that it caused me to melt in my chair. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites with her talent of writing lovable characters in towns I want to live in and I can’t wait to dive into more of her works!
DAD BOD BARTENDER is a sweet and spicy insta-love romance. Wyatt and Sylvia meet one night at different places in their careers - Wyatt has just moved to Havenport to follow his dream, and Sylvie has lived there all her life and is weeks away from leaving to the big city to get a “real” job.
Wyatt is devoted, supportive and loving and Sylvie knows how lucky she’d be with him but feels she’ll be a failure if she doesn’t follow through with the new job. This is a couple who the reader will have no trouble rooting for.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Such an Adorable Connection- Vulnerable Hero Alert
Sylvia and Wyatt are two of the most memorable characters this reader has encountered in recent memory. Wyatt is swoony (and this cover model seems like a perfect match to his character’s description) in so many ways, and while Sylvie is more of a mess, it feels authentic given what we learn about her environment. The layering in of other characters from previous stories set in Havenwood became difficult for this first-timer to fully follow and appreciate. The messages this novella leaves are uplifting and inspiring, as well as steamy!
Wyatt and Sylvie’s story is filled with insta-love, sweet romance, small town vibes and amazing chemistry! Wyatt is fresh out of a long term relationship, and working as a bartender in a new town. One night, he sees Sylvie perform on stage and it’s pretty much love at first sight for him. Wyatt isn’t the normal bad boy hero with ripped muscles. He’s more of a big cuddly mountain man that wears his heart on his sleeve. If you’re looking for a quick, sweet and steamy read you should definitely pick this up!
I’ve followed Daphne her entire career and have loved every story she’s written. This quick addition to Havenport was no different!
I am so loving the mature novellas I am reading lately! Wyatt and Sylvie have roadblocks in their way but they don’t dwell on them (not for long anyway). They put their mind to it and make decisions and choose their love story and it’s HEA quickly. I love how quickly these two characters came together and how wonderfully written they were with the short time we had with them.
Insta-connection books are the best, aren't they? Well, I think so. Wyatt and Sylvie falling in love at first sight was such a good story. I love the end of the first chapter when "...all I could think was 'I found her.'" (sigh)(heart eyes) Oh, the part when she drives her van onto the beach so they can watch the tide together at night! So sweet. And the ending made me teary-eyed. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
First time reading anything by this author and now I’m a full-fledged fan! This story is so real that I was caught up I the lives of Sylvia and Wyatt as if they were my best friends. You hurt when they hurt and rejoiced when things went well. You will also get involved with the townspeople. If I knew of such a place, I’d move there myself! It made me feel so good when I finished reading this book about two quirky people.
This was a nice short story, I love that you talked about all the taboo in your books. This one was great because of body positivity and how much more we need that talked about. I also loved that sylvie was able to do what she wanted and get past her insecurities that her parents put on her. I grew up in a loving home, and it was supportive no matter what I wanted to do. It is hard to see that others don't always have that.

Dad Bod Bartender was a good, sweet, small town romance. Wyatt and Sylvie made a good couple. They met t time when they both were struggling with what they want in life. I enjoyed reading the story. It's part of a series and this is my first book by Daphne Elliot. I received an ARC from BookSiren for free, for my honest opinion.
Devoured in a few hours, what a sweet, amazing story. The storyline was brilliant, the connection Wyatt and Sylvie has is just undesirable, normal people with insecurities, finding love in a wonderful town makes a really lovely book of romance and about following ur dreams and believing in yourself.
This story had me at the title. I am all for a hot buff guy, and I am down for eye candy, but there is something to be said about a normal good looking guy with a normal body, makes it more real for me and easier to slip into the story. With a great storyline and delightful characters I really enjoyed this read
I really enjoyed this little Novella for Sylvie and Wyatt. I met them in holding you and i just had to go back and read their story. It was so good , now i have to go read all the rest.
