Mix together cocktails, a rundown factory, and an acid-spitting flying rat and what do you get? The next adventure for the Evermores. The Darkness Between Dreams is hunting the Evermores--especially Fran. What's a young witch to do when there's a powerful witch and military contractors gunning for her? Dust off her wand and practice with her newly found magic. A battle is coming their way. Mana Wave continues to grow. But the team needs to find a source other than Fran's magic or The Source to power the batteries. The location of their new factory just might provide a surprising solution. More of the hidden prophecies are being discovered. Rumors are swirling that the Evermores will bring disaster to Mana Valley. First, Fran will have to contend with a knife in the dark, an underground bar, and a talking wall.
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
When Fran learns a lot more about both sides of her lineage in this story, she also learns some things that she's not happy about, and so she decides to concentrate on her fledgling business, instead.
But, even with this, there are problems, and it's going to take all of her friends to help her sort it out.
Then things turn darker, and she has to decide exactly where she stands, for far too many decisions - but, with her friends, and a much closer relationship with Cam, and her father, to an extent, Fran finds the strength to stand by her convictions.
As usual, there are so many layers to this story, and poor Fran is being torn in so many directions, between her family, her friends, her new business, and those who want to interfere with every aspect of her life.
I love that Fran feels such sympathy for the Source and, while I'm guessing some things that I feel will happen, as the story continues - and that Fran, and her friends, will be instrumental in sorting it all out for most of them, I must confess that I still can't see exactly how things will go - which I'm very glad of, believe me! Lol
When you've read the sheer volume of stories that I have, over the years, then it becomes almost second nature to guess - mostly rightly - how things will work out , but I'm happy to say that I've been wrong a few times with Michael's writing, and Martha joining him has upped the score - and that's so much more fun for me! 🤣
I really am enjoying this series very much, so I'm going to finish this review, then get on to book five: 'Magic Adventure ', to find out what's going to happen next.
So I'll catch you on the flip side, after I've finished this next story, to let you know what I think of it!
This particular addition to the series is neither as fast-paced as the first three volumes, nor is it as light-hearted.
It’s a bit more somber, but at the same time there is much less focus on the enemy, on The Darkness. Instead we get to watch these incredible characters step up and reveal themselves. What more can you ask for?
Fran spends less time on roller skates and more time growing. This isn’t a bad thing. There’s less comic relief and a lot more ass kicking. All in all, not at all what I expected, but definitely where the story needed to go. So pick it up, sit down & enjoy!
Fran and her friends are opening their first factory, but have problems with a unexpected resident. Things are also heating up with the Evermores and the Source. I really enjoy these books, there is plenty of action, magic and growing relationships in them to keep you interested and the endings always leave you wanting to read the next book.
Another great chapter in Fran's life, dating (finally!), learning more of her abilities with her father and working to save the Earth's magic despite strong opposition.
