The course of life has no regard for our plans. This was a lesson that Jamis and Kamya learned once their worlds came into orbit. While mending themselves and coming to terms that they aren’t in control of their destiny, will they fight it or give in?
I don’t even know where to begin. The Remnants Love Left Behind had so much potential but, the horrible writing and mountain of grammatical errors ruined what could’ve been a really good story. This book was riddled with errors from start to finish, the writing was choppy, and the storyline was underdeveloped in certain parts. Kamya was supposedly a victim of domestic abuse but, the subject rarely came up. Considering how he left her, I thought there would be way more drama with Ellis and Inez. His character seemed like more of a prop than a major part of the actual storyline so, the domestic violence was never appropriately addressed. How is it Kamya’s husband left her for her best friend but, Inez never makes a single appearance in the book?!!! I just knew Kamya was going to run into Inez in the bathroom when she and Jamie were on their date. But no; they just had sex. Again. Marie’s azz popped up out of nowhere but, we don’t get to hear from the former BFF who stole her husband?!!! That was a missed opportunity. I really feel like the author dropped the ball there. And, Ellis popping up a year later after terminating his parental rights was just weird. At that point, we didn’t need to hear from him again. I loved me some Kamya and Jamie but, Kamara was the real star of this book. I adored her sassiness. The Remnants Love Left Behind was a huge disappointment. The errors completely overshadowed what could’ve been a good book. The author should seriously consider pulling this book, rewriting it, and having it edited by an actual editor.
I love good dirty talk. This is broken down into really short chapters that allows you to experience what is going on from both POVs, but that made it feel a little choppy for me. So i struggled at times to stay engaged. The highlight of this story was the daughter Kamara I love that she was truly her mom’s best friend. She was so funny and feisty and made the story for me. I enjoy instalove and this one was done ok, there is a good sense of the chemistry between them and clear expressions of what the connection they have is. It was an enjoyable read that I think would have been better if it was a slow burn but still good.
The story needed to be fleshed out, the details filled in. For example, Ellis just seemed like a plot device the author popped in here and there for drama, so the domestic violence issue was never fully addressed.
More than anything, though, this book needs an editor. There was a grammatical error or typo on almost every kindle page. Sloppy and distracting.
Can we first get a hand clap for a plus size FMC👏🏾 She had been broken down by her marriage, lost herself in motherhood and just no longer felt worthy of love. Our MMC Jamie said “naw babygirl, we’re not doing that over here”, and came in all gas and no brakes to help build Kamya back up. They fell fast and they fell hard & after all she endured, I loved that for her and her smart mouth daughter🤣There was some mild drama but through it all they found their happily ever after. I do wish we were able to tap a bit more into Jamie’s emotions though. I feel like a lot of his trauma was kind of skirted over. I also wanted to see more of Kamya’s healing journey. It’s almost like she healed overnight but we didn’t get to see it on page.
How I loved this story. We sometimes feel like we only get one shot at happiness. When that doesn’t work out, we fill guilty, and broken down. Kamaya is trying to bounce back from her failed marriage. Jamis show up in her life and shows all the way out. Aubree continues to give such good black love stories. Each story better than the last. I loved everything about this story. The love between friends and family in this story really moved me . Family isn’t always the folks you share blood with, many times it’s created by the people in your life who hold you down, and hold you accountable. This is by far of my favorite books by Aubree Pynn!!
You know it’s very rare that I can read a book and feel a connection to its characters! I wasn’t even 30% percent in before I started crying and I honestly can relate, as myself and my daughter go through our next chapter. Everything Kamaya went through in beginning, from her weight, her self esteem, her daughter being her reason I felt wholeheartedly. This was a great read and I believe anyone reading would love to read more from you! Can’t wait for the next story.
Once again Ms. Pynn has another winner on her hand. This book was so good! I loved the way Jamis loved Kamya regardless or her fears or insecurities. Jamis showed what stepping up truly means and I loved every minute of it. Definitely a must read! 🥰
2.5 ⭐️ I liked the concept of the book but I couldn't get with all the grammar mistakes and spelling. It stopped me from enjoying the writing. I will try another book by this author.
Awww, Kamya! Her ex-husband was a piece of work! I mean he really put her through it! And as if being physically and mentally abusive and a cheating, backstabbing son of a b*** wasn't enough, the way he completely and utterly broke their teenage daughter's heart was the final twist of the knife. He was literally not worth the air he breathed. But Jamis Latimore--Jamie to all who knew him! Yaaaassss! That beautiful, sexy, and amazing man right there knew what a treasure Kamya and her daughter, Kamara truly were. He didn't stop for a moment treating them like the Queen and Princess they were. Kamya faltered just a bit and briefly ran scared from the kindness, support, and intensity of Jamie's love. But her sassy daughter and feisty mama and friends wouldn't let her retreat back to the shell of a woman her ex turned her into. No way! I loved the woman she became when she was with Jamie--her beautiful, confident, sexy, thick 'ems self!😜 And trust--Jamie had no problem lovin' all that thickness! Whew, chile!🔥🔥 But more than that, Kamya was never just a mother and woman to Jamie, she was his heart. I loved when he told his boys that his heart threatened to rip up out of his chest everytime he saw her!🥰 And my heart tripped at the way Jamie and Kamya's daughter, Kamara claimed each other as their own because he promised to love every extension of Kamya. Have mercy! I need this family to give me back my heart please!❤❤
Kamya once had a mean-spirited man who left her for her so-called best friend. He left his daughter too. I was done with this man for real. Although Kamya was weak-minded over this piece of poo, you will enjoy her growth by the time you reach -the end. This story was different from the other works, but it was also emotional, redemptive, and a fitting message. It was a good read.
It pains me to give this book 3 starts but the errors almost overshadowed the story. There were so many times were I had to reread a sentence to understand what the author was trying to say. If this book would have been edited correctly then it would have definitely been a 4 star read. Still going to read the rest of the serious hopefully the others are edited better.
A lot of us know a story like this all too well, but the way Aubree Pynn delivered it is *chef’s kiss* She didn’t add all the extra details to make it more grainy. Just gave us the back story and focused on the love that was being built.
First of all that little girl?! Kamara?! She loved her mama down! Okay?! She didn’t play about her mama and I loved that for Kamya. Some parents think their children don’t see them and Kamara saw ALL of her mama and loved her through it. And helped her be better. I love love loved that the healing of Kamya came in a big part due to her daughter. Real love. The friends/cousins were amazing in her healing process of course! But her daughter was instrumental in her healing and I loved that. They healed together.
That man that man! When a man knows!!! Loved Kamya and Kamara down! And Kamara knew THAT was her father and the man who was made her her and her mama. She saw it the moment she saw him. The way he loved on Kamya without pushing her (for the most part 😂) and doubled down on that love for Kamara?! Beautifully written. I definitely shed some tears!!
Whew AP! You just had us all up in our feelings! Kamya was drowning in sadness and embarrassment, from the demise of her marriage and taking care of her daughter alone. Her ass of an ex-husband, broke her down to the point where she hid from everyone who loved her, and neglected herself. She knew that she needed to get out of this funk, but felt she was too far gone to find herself again. When Jamis saw Kamya in the boutique, he was in awe of her beauty, and knew he wanted to get to know her. But, that would be easier said than done. Kamya was not trying to give this man any play, although she was extremely attracted to him. She was so jaded, that she felt giving any attention to a man would be her ultimate downfall. Jamis would not be deterred. He fought for her heart, until Kamya couldn't resist him anymore. Kamara was a whole mess! That girl done been here before! 😂 I loved how she protected her mom, and was insightful about life and relationships at her young age, to give her mom advice. Beautiful heartfelt read. Good job! 👍👍👍

Jamis and Kamya, Love Is Better the Second Time Around
After reading this, I feel like I left some remnants of myself behind!!!… This book healed something in me that I didn’t know needed healing!!!… I love how Jamis stepped and never stopped when it came to Kamya and then Kamara!!!…He spk his intentions, he lives in his truth and showed that he was more than the words that came out of his mouth!!!… Kamara is a prime example of a child that hide the things they know that happens in a house when you think you are shielding them!!!…My heart broke as she spk life into her mother, her telling her mother she seen the scars and knew about the verbal, physical and mental abuse her mother endured!!!… I’m glad that Kamaya was open to love and marriage again!!!… That scene btwn Kamaya and her mother had me crying right along with them!!!…
In the last four or five days, I’ve been consumed, engrossed & indoctrinated into the world of The Ganton Hills series and their subsequent novels and or novelettes, am I getting invitation to the next KPM family reunion (hmmm, without the savagery 🤷🏾♀️). Meanwhile, “The Remnants Love Left Behind” has proven to be another AP ghetto romance banger🤎🔥🤎‼️Today, my new favorite couple is Jamis & Kamya. Jamis’ scores extra points with me. I adore his heart for his family, friends, boys, community, Kamy & Mara. Thereafter, Ellis must be a masochist. Jamis tap danced on that a$$ twice. Please cry uncle‼️
This was such a beautiful love story. And it was complete! We got everything we needed from Jamie and Kamy Girl 😂. We got a bit of urban (not in the story, but Jamie carried himself in such a way that you knew off page, there’s a beast simmering beneath the surface.
The way he bombarded his was in and took care of his girls?! Patience, vigor, and love. He felt like a warm hug on a cool night in front of a smoldering fire.
The supporting characters were absolutely perfect as well. Love this story and would read it again, to be honest. I’m off to read some more of Ms. Pynn’s work. Beautiful.
At first glance, Janis was attracted to Kamya. At second glance, he wanted to get to know her better. By third glance, he had to have her! What's even better is…she wants him, too!
What I loved about this book is the relationship between Janis and Kamya's daughter, Kamara. This young lady was hugely disappointed in her biological father, so she was very receptive to the genuine attention that Jamis was giving her.
Unfortunately, I can only give the book 💎💎💎💎, due to minor grammatical errors. I'm looking forward to more visits to the Hills (Ganton Hills, that is). Good job @aubreepynn!
This book had a mistake on literally every page. At one point a summary of each chapter is at the beginning of the chapter like the author forgot to take it out before sending the file in. These are not minor issues, they are major and need to be addressed asap. It really took a five star read way down. Giving it three stars is being generous because two often you’re taken out of the story because of the mistakes. Great writer, but make your editor do their job.
If you’re on some f..k love type of vibe and/or going through a horrible breakup that has tainted your perspective on love this book may very well change your mind, heart & opinion. Jamie exuded BDE & despite his previous reservations on love & getting married (again) once he seen Kamaya he knew he was gone get her & make her his. He loved & worshipped Kamaya & loved her daughter as well (who definitely gave main character energy). The way Jamie protected his girls was definitely cute.
All I can say is phew! Oooo weeeee. Hot and heavy, heavy and hot. Jamis came in and applied all gas no brakes while Kamy was trying to hide to avoid making the same mistake.
One thing I can say is Ellis NEVER deserved our girl and what goes around will always come back around.
As for Ms. Kamara, that mouth real slick yet honest. I wanted to tell “stay in a child’s place” but she had her mom’s best interest at heart.
I love how Aubree continues to build on Ganton Hills.
Better than eva and that skinny played fade having Ellis and that conniving two cent heaux Marie could neva! Jamis and Kamya had been through the ringer with love and marriage and wanted no parts of it ever again. However, love and happiness wouldn’t be denied. She was running away trying to hide and he had a change of heart. He wanted her - period. I enjoyed this book and all of the characters. Glad to see a second chance at love so beautiful
Kamya was beaten down mentally, physically and emotionally. Ellis had done everything in his power to make her feel like she wasn’t worthy of love. As if no one would want what she had to offer. He was very much mistaken. Jamis was enthralled by Kamya before he even knew her name. She would be his next and last love, no matter their reservations. Jamis is the protector that both Kamya and Kamara need. I enjoyed the dialogue in general, but I loved Kamya’s and Kamara’s relationship the most.
I expected this book to be good and I was not disappointed. Kamya endured a lot of pain to get to a place of peace and Jamis was the best man for the job. They were what each other needed to find what was missing and the support from an awesome group of friends and family added to that foundation. I would definitely recommend this read.
This book dealt with some real life situations that a women we face on a daily basis. For example the Weight Gain that Kamya was dealing with and sometimes is it medical or emotional weight gain and the self esteem issues that you have to deal with, because you do not fit what society says is acceptable.
This story describes a woman who endured a long abusive marriage who was later dumped for her best friend. As she was trying to put the pieces of her life together a sexy alpha man invaded her world, her thoughts, and her body to conquer her soul and her heart. This story gave you all the feels and I highly recommend it.
