Dodging Bullets in Blue Valley reminds me why I'll be so sad when The North Star Series ends! I have been following some of these characters since the Sons of Badlands series, and Nicole weaves their pasts into these books flawlessly. Dodging Bullets in Blue Valley was about North Star's doctor, Betty, and her patient, Garrett, a cop and the brother of Nate from book four.
As always, the book starts out with a bang when they least expect it, and that leads Garrett somewhere he wasn't expecting...to find his twins. Betty, not wanting to leave her patient alone with a bullet wound in his shoulder, goes along, but little does she know that it will be her life in danger when she does.
Someone is after North Star, and Betty and Garrett are on the receiving end of their fury without knowing why. Confused and on the run with two babies, they have to turn to members of the team both past and present to help them sort out who is after them and why.
It's hard to review Nicole's books the deeper you get into the series without giving something away, but suffice it to say, if we were curious about Shay before Dodging Bullets in Blue Valley, now we're downright pre-ordering book six to get to the bottom of her past and how she's all tied up in the group looking to end North Star's reign. If you love tightly paced intrigue mixed with couples falling in love, you're going to love The North Star series and Dodging Bullets in Blue Valley!
Holy Toledo. Shots fired and bam we are off and running, nice integration with the other book characters in the series coming together for a common purpose.
The author does mystery and suspense like I haven't read in a while. Betty, the doctor for North Star, was helping with Garret's recovery when they leave to track down his twins. There's plenty of intrigue and questions, but this one dragged a bit in revealing the enemy so just 4 stars.
The North Star crew is falling like flies, but it's good to find love among all the chaos.
