I am an obsessive romance reader turned writer. An amazing group of indie writers have inspired and encouraged me to pursue this crazy dream and now I can’t imagine stopping. Born and raised, I have always lived in Southern California. I am happily married, with two small fur babies. I love my job as a teacher and wouldn’t want to do anything else. Except maybe be a full time writer. Between reading, writing, and teaching, I have little free time. But in those rare moments I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, binge watching reality television and baking.
I was enjoying this story so far, although having a mature heroine, it’s a sort of coming of age journey. Finding one’s self after setbacks.
It’s been a bit of quirky and funny read.
And as a single twin mom who is also Latina I am enjoying the representation fully. Except with the stereotypes… not all Latin women are curvy and to typecast them as such always give into the stereotype of us being these wet dream bombshells and plays into the high beauty standards that no one can live up to nor they should. Then adding specifically coming from a long line of spicy Latina women perpetuates the stereotypes of our personalities, why the need to point out you’re a spicy Latina specifically? Then in a way fetishizing as well. That was my only set back, if you’re going to have diverse representation, it should be done tactful and with respect.
A few minor inconsistencies in terms of editing and proofing, a chapter starting in one persons POV and ending with the others without acknowledging it, random character name swaps. Just inconsistencies that really should have been caught while proofing IMO.
All in all, it had potential but missed the marks midway till the end. The beginning was the best and idk what happened after that.
New author for me. Enjoyable story…inspired me to write my own revival list. I liked that the couple was older (late 30s) and looking to start new journey in their lives where the cross paths. Rime was at the start of pursing a relationship with a fellow work colleague (punky)…went on one date where he kissed her then they get robbed at his tattoo shop. Punky gets shot and ends up in a coma. He feels guilty as he felt he should have protected her. his life starts to unravel after that. Andrea is a divorcee who sells her house and buys an RV to find herself after her twin kids graduate. She writes a revival list (essentially a bucket list) for this trip. They meet … there’s some drama (relating to punky…as she’s part of a crime ring ). At the end it all ends well for Rome & Andrea. We even get a hint that punky is ok in the epilogue. HFN
I really enjoyed this story with mature characters. Rome has a cloud hanging over his head and doesn't believe he deserves a good life. Andrea is at a cross roads. Her kids are going off to college and she's recently divorced and she's not sure what she wants out of life. These two keep crossing paths and has some great chemistry. Will they be ships that pass in the night, or are they fated to be together?
Loved the epilogue with a bit of an update on a side character.
