Heels Over Head

Rate this book
Stella-

I was fine with being alone. In fact, I preferred it. No one to answer to, no one to feel neglected as I ran my business, no one close enough to me to hurt me. I could be who I wanted to be on any given day, and the freedom that brought me was worth the loneliness.
At least… until I met Miles, an awkward-yet-headstrong dork with a giant heart and a filthy mind. On paper, he was terrible for me. In reality? He just might be everything I never knew I needed.

Miles-

Have you ever met someone so far out of your league your subconscious wouldn’t even let you be together? That’s how it felt when I met her. Gorgeous, strong, independent, Stella was everything a guy like me could only daydream about. But when the stars miraculously aligned and the universe gave me a once-in-a-lifetime gift, would I be truly ready for it?

Somehow the nerd with anxiety got the girl, but now… I needed to keep her.

4.5 Let's Go Get The Girl Stars ⭐

Can the geek and the promiscuous girl meet in the middle? In the mood for something different, unorthodox and refreshingly real, because this author proves time and time again that love comes in different forms. And if it makes you feel happy and complete, than why should it be wrong?

Fucking fuck, how is he so smooth? Nerds being charming and sexy should be against the fucking laws of nature.

Miles is the good guy. Handsome, hung and a catch. Yet why is he so unlucky in love? From the moment he meets Stella, everything is turned on its axis. In his mind she's out of his league. They may burn up the sheets together but she's a runner.

Stella lives her life by her rules. Lots of sex, lots of partners and little ties. Until a guy she has no right screwing with knocks her for a six. A guy like Miles won't stick around when he learns the truth. Cos a good guy wouldn't want a slut.

“Yeah, okay. Uh ... look, you’ve got two options. You can either embrace it and let her fuck your world up, or you can walk away and find someone from your mom’s church and save yourself for marriage.”

Talk about breaking down the barriers and rewriting the script. In fact it's heartbreaking when you analyse a person's psyche. Heels Over Head is a modern love story presented differently. A past is a past for a reason, and without external interference it would be a hell of a lot easier.

It felt like it was my first time all over again, and in a way, it was. But this was better, because it was with someone I actually loved, and I could feel every single time she clenched and strangled my cock as she came for me.

This novella was kinky AF, not that I expected anything less by the talented OJ, but also wonderfully emotional. Miles and Stella deserved a love they'd both yearned for and watching them achieve it was endearing and okay, super hot!

I loved this!! The FMC is the more dominant, very sexual, confident character while the MMC is the geeky, shy character this time around (although Miles still had some dominant moments himself). I still prefer Alpha-hole male leads but this was very refreshing! It was sweet and smutty and somehow this novella didn’t feel like a novella at all! I loved how they were so open with each other and communicated what they wanted. This was great and I can’t wait to read the rest in the series!

I’m not crying. You are.
Insecurities are always the factor that make and break a relationship. This was such a raw and real story.

Miles is a complete and total nerd; his heart is too big for his own good. When he meets Stella, there’s an instant spark, but he doesn’t believe he stands a chance. Miles didn’t get her number that night, and he’s been kicking himself ever since. But when fate gives them a second chance, he must fight to prove to her that he can be more than a casual fling.

Stella has always been a casual hookup kind of girl; she doesn’t believe she can be anything more. But when she meets Miles, something about him tugs at her heartstrings. Stella is determined not to get attached, but as they spend more time together, she begins to feel things she’d never let herself feel before. And that scares her.

Holy. Freaking. Cow. With “Heels Over Head,” Octavia Jensen has done it yet again!!! She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I adored Miles and Stella, I think they’re my favorite couple she’s written!!! They had absolutely explosive chemistry, and I loved watching their relationship play out over the course of the novel. The plot was excellent, and the twists and turns were amazing!!!

Miles. Oh my gosh, he’s definitely been added to my book boyfriend list. He’s such a dork, but that’s part of the reason why he’s so lovable. He’s the sweetest guy, and I wish he existed in real life!!! Stella. My heart hurts for all she’s been through, but I love how strong she is. She’s confident and sassy, which I always love in a FMC. I loved them both, and I loved them together. Go read this right now!!!!

Beautifully hot

I never imagined feeling so much in so few pages. Octavia Jensen is truly great at bring the most out of characters in a novella and still including all the steam you could ask for. Miles and Stella were amazing together.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶🌶🌶/5

TW - death of a parent (mentioned), anxiety, abandonment issues, cheating (past, mentioned)

CW - FFM scene, switch, public play, sex work, exhibitionism, snowballing

Tropes - novella, cinnamon roll hero

Miles (MMC) and Stella (FMC) were hot and very different. They met once before and hit it off but never got her number but their paths crossed again and while Miles could feel something more between them, Stella believed that she wasn't capable of anything like that.

I enjoyed the way their relationship blossomed and how sweet and vulnerable they could be together and also how hot 🌶️; hopefully one day they can actually make their dinner reservation 😅

Scale:
⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite
⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪

🫑 - no smut
🌶 - no point
🌶🌶 - mediocre at best
🌶🌶🌶 - standard smut, hot
🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 🥵 okay, some CW
🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 - fuck me 🥵🥵 CWs / filthy with a side of filth - see Poison / Room Twenty-Two: Hide and Seek/ The Naughty List

Loved it! Miles is such a cinnamon roll, which is usually not my thing, but Stella balances him out so well. And I do love to see a cinnamon roll guy get the girl sometimes too. The angst was gut wrenching and well timed. Such a fun quick read, you won’t regret it.

Miles has arrived with his own tale to tell. Best friend of Nico. It's time he finds his own true love. It's now St Patrick's Day, and he is running into the exuberant Stella. (The s*x shop owner from Santa's Lay)

"He didn’t have a chiseled jaw or fuck-me eyes like my usual type, but he had trust-me eyes, touch-me eyes, innocent eyes."

Miles is a little nieve and a lot sweet. Dorky and shy and completely awkward, but eager to please and adorably adorably, he is a total boyfriend package. A cinnamon roll. Stella obviously wants to corrupt him in all the most delightfully fun ways.

Opposites attract in this cute and dirty novella. Her wild and free him on the straight and narrow, they couldn't be more different or more made for each other.

For some reason, the "yes ma'am" in this book icked me out way less than any "yes sir" does. Maybe it's the reversal of roles in gender. Maybe I just enjoy a powerful woman. Maybe this is just a good read 📚 🤔

This book was one of those unexpected hidden gems that was recommended to me. It was a short read, but such a good one. This story was equally spicy and heartfelt, and I did not put it down until the end.
Miles and Stella originally met when Stella was kind of seeing his friend Nico. When he comes upon Stella at a club a ways down the line he knows that its now or never to approach her. Miles and Stella were a couple you would not expect. Miles was reserved, somewhat shy, and all around your typical geeky yet gorgeous nerd type. Stella was racy, bold, and quite frank majority of the time.

When Miles shows interest in not just taking Stella to bed, but taking her out on dates as well she panics. Stella is sexually free, but her self esteem is non-existent. Prior demons plague her as well secrets she feels Miles would not understand. Relationships and commitments are not who she feels she is, or can be. Although she knows that no man has made her feel the way Miles does not just sexually but emotionally she is terrified and she tries to distance herself in a sense.
Miles feels he sees Stella for who she is, and is determined to make her see him, and them together.

This book was hot! The moments they had together were delicious and intense. Stella underestimated would a man like Miles could do and make her feel..Well worth the read if anything.

There's something about those shy, nerdy type MMC that do not realize they're attractive. This was definitely an opposites-attract, where the MMC is the "innocent" ones (he's not a virgin but he's.. shy in a sense) and the MFC is the more experienced one.

This is book 3 in the series (they can all be read as standalone but I'd still recommend reading in order for better reading experience). This was a cute, quick read. Our MFC Stella, was the commitment-phobic one and our MMC Miles just wanted her to be his. I liked it. The ending was super sweet as well. While he was slightly shy and unsure at times (and then confident in others), Miles had a dirty talking mouth thoughhh, OMG.

I WAS slightly irritated by the slight miscommunication/omission and as well as the meddling best friend Zuri. She wasn't featured here as heavily as All Over You (Book 2) but she still irritated the heck out of me in BOTH books. If she gets a book, I don't even know if ill bother reading it.

This was like nothing I’ve ever read before. Loved their chemistry, they were so hot together. Their relationship dynamics were unique and I loved that about them. They balanced each other out perfectly. I felt all the feels and loved all the love.

Steam level: 5/5
Angst level: 2/5
Overall rating: 4 stars

I really loved this one. Miles and Stella are goals for open communication, honesty, and being 100% yourself with your person. The threesome was done in a way that didn’t take anything from the relationship and it was refreshing. MFF with no sharing between Miles and the other f. I wish the book was longer cuz I would have read more about this couple. I loved them together.

I don’t read a lot of mf, but I love OJ’s writing so much that I make exceptions for her books. This one didn’t disappoint.

Geek Squad meets goddess, and angsty, adorable, smoking hot moments ensue. Just the right balance between crazy hot steam and romance, and I loved how raw and real it all felt and the fact that they recognized the mistakes they made and actively took steps to fix them instead of just ignoring them and pretending everything is fine like most book couples. Definitely recommend.

Totally hot!

My 2nd book by Octavia, truly can say I got affected by the chemistry and need between the characters. Miles is such a lovable dork who can find his way with the wild Stella. They compliment each other. Love how she tried to downplay it for casual sex but cant keep Miles out of her mind. Really fun and entertaining.. If you're into kinky adult reads, this you will like.

The fmc tries so hard to be someone else, while the mmc is achingly genuine.

I smirked slightly, pushing down my true reaction for something more on-brand. “Not bad for a dork. Give me your phone.” I held out my hand, eyes dancing as I took in his disheveled state and tented jeans.

He handed it to me, pushing down his boner and looking around like he completely forgot where we were as he took deep steadying breaths. “You make my brain stop working.”

I absolutely adored and loved this book! It was so good I wish I could give it more stars. Miles is the definition of a perfect book boyfriend and honestly just is amazing. I loved Stella, she had so much growth. They were not your stereotypical romance book couple, but they were absolutely perfect for each other! It was smutty, sweet, and hilarious! Loved it so much!

Short and sweet.

A lovely smutty read. This was inexperienced dude done right, it wasn’t cheesy, he wasn’t useless or boringly shy and he was eager! Fun match up, perfect amount of drama and satisfying ending :)
