Cathleen Cole currently lives in Utah with her husband Frank, their six dogs, four goats, and flock of chickens. Cathleen and Frank have nomadic souls, so they don’t expect to be tied down to one place indefinitely.
Animals, dog sports, traveling, scuba diving, and everything books are just a few of Cathleen’s passions in life. She measures her quality of life based off the different experiences and adventures she gets to have.
You’ll see every book written by either Cathleen Cole or Frank Jensen will always credit the other as co-authors and that is because they use each other as sounding boards during their writing processes as well as they are each other’s main beta readers. As husband and wife, they insist on sharing all successes and failures equally.
Deviant is the moment the Discord series looks you dead in the eye and says, “Sweetheart, we’re done pretending anyone in this world is normal.” And honestly? I respect that. This book is a 4.5‑star, morally‑gray, undercover‑chaos, enemies‑to‑lovers problem in the best possible way.
Our boy? He used to be a cop. Now he’s a vigilante with mafia ties, a questionable moral compass, and a personal vendetta against human traffickers. He’s basically Batman if Batman said “screw the rules” and joined the Irish mob for funsies.
He goes undercover expecting danger. He does not expect Reagan O’Beirne.
Reagan is a whole situation. A mafia princess with steel in her spine, fire in her veins, and a chokehold on every room she walks into. She’s powerful, controlled, and absolutely not the kind of woman who bows to anyone — except, apparently, in his bed. And the way she surrenders there? Oh, it’s lethal.
Their chemistry is the kind that makes you want to grab popcorn and protective gear. He’s lying. She’s lying. They’re both pretending they’re not falling while simultaneously falling off emotional cliffs.
And the tension? Unhinged. Every scene feels like foreplay and a threat at the same time. Every truth they hide is a ticking bomb. Every reveal is a punch to the ribs.
The undercover plot is tight, gritty, and full of that “I’m doing the wrong thing for the right reasons” energy that makes morally gray heroes so addictive. And the human trafficking angle gives the story real weight — he’s not just playing criminal, he’s hunting monsters.
But the heart of the book is this: Two people raised on opposite sides of the law, both broken in ways they don’t talk about, both craving something they don’t think they deserve.
When the lies finally crack open? It’s messy. It’s painful. It’s earned.
And the question becomes: Can two deviant hearts build something real, or are they destined to burn everything down, including each other?
Deviant is dark, sexy, twisty, and emotionally feral — a perfect continuation of the Discord chaos. A 4.5‑star hit for anyone who loves undercover danger, forbidden desire, and lovers who should absolutely not work but somehow do.
Ciro goes under cover to scope out an Irish mob enforcer for his friend and head of the Italian mob, Nico. When the enforcer doesn't show, he goes home with a beautiful woman, finding out the next morning that SHE is the enforcer he was looking for. With an in for deep cover, Ciro is looking for who is stirring trouble for the Italians, but is also busy catching feelings for Reagan. He just hopes he makes it out alive and that Reagan doesn't hate him.
Another great read in the Discord series! I just love all the characters and how strong the women are. Fast paced with tons action. The chemistry between the two MCs is super hot and so are the smexy times 🥵. I'm super exciting for the next book in the series - that blurb at the end definitely has me hooked!
Deviant isi the third book in the Discord Series by Cathleen Cole. It *could* be read as a standalone, but definitely enjoyed more in series order. It is told in first person, from dual perspective.
Ciro is going undercover in the Irish Mob. He is set to meet the Enforcer in a pub however he doesn't turn up. A beautiful woman does they get chatting and end up going home together. It's the next morning that Ciro realises the woman he went home with is the Enforcer when her father is sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee - AKWARD 😆
Pretty soon he is in deep with both Reagan and his new job with the Irish.
Chemistry between these two is hot. All the others are in it from previous books. Loved Mick and Reagans brother Rory.
This book was amazing. Reagan is a strong woman and that was was Ciro needed. There chemistry is off the charts, but what I love most is how strong Reagan is. She is a boss and just as kickass as Havoc. I can't wait to read the next book.
I'm obsessed with Ciro. Reagan's a bada$$ bish who takes names and sets fires. This duo was absolutely one of my fave. I had a few sniffles along the way as well as the inability to put it down! 100000/10 recommend!
Overall I enjoyed this one. Towards the middle it felt like it was dragging on, but then picked up again pretty soon after. I like Reagan’s strength and badassery. Ciro was a solid character and a good match for her. I appreciate the old school mafia code, but it was over-referenced during parts of this book. Still, I’d recommend reading this, especially if you’re invested in the series.
