“The earth holds me the way a mother should.”Readers who love poetry by Rupi Kaur, Courtney Peppernell, and Orion Carloto will find a home in Made of Earth: a poetry collection that explores the mother wound, father wound, and how we can find self-love and self-healing in our connection to our mother earth to break these toxic cycles.
The womb is where it begins; from the roots. This takes you on a journey through childhood and leads you to unearth/rebirth: the toxic patterns we find in our relationships and the rebirth of the womb that leads us into the remedy.
🦋 Made of Earth is for the the black sheep queens and cycle-breakers. For the ones who keep loving despite having every reason not to.
Basically, if you’re still reading this, it’s for you.
Hi, I’m Alisha, the voice behind Where She Grows. As a single mom, self-made poet, and all-around hell-raiser, I’ve spent the last four years pouring my soul into poetry that captures just a small part of the raw and real aspects of life.
Through my four independently published poetry collections, I explore themes of love, life, and losing yourself to create a space where you can grow through what you go through.
I write poetry about healing from intergenerational trauma, abuse, and the grief of losing a sister. My series, Still Growing Wildflowers isn’t about glossing over the tough parts; it’s about finding the beauty, the strength, the love, or simply just acknowledging that sometimes, life just fxcking sucks and it is what it is.
Alisha’s writing continues to get better and better. This is my favorite work of hers so far! I often found myself gasping in awe after each poetry piece. She is gifted with words and puts true beauty onto paper.
I am disappointed - something about this writing just did not sit with me. Maybe because I could not relate to it, or maybe because the poems were so trauma based. Either way - this one wasn't for me.
I devoured this book in one sitting, which is how all of Alisha’s books deserve to be read. The images she creates are raw and beautiful, the feelings she expresses are intense, fiery and passionate, and the overall message of healing is very comforting. I will be reading again.
