Are you ready for a clean, clear mind?
Anxiety, overwhelm and rumination can be a tough cycle to break. The 14 Day Mind Cleanse is an achievable program of simple techniques to clear out your mental clutter while introducing calm and positivity, helping you become your clearest, most grounded self.
Kick off the program with a daily meditation ritual and by tweaking your digital diet. Next, reduce multi-tasking, add a personalized morning ritual and banish 'busy', learning to achieve more by doing less. Finish the first week by adding techniques for positive thinking and 'joy riding'. Now you're ready to apply, rinse and repeat for a second week, taking note of what's working and what's not.
Internationally renowned speaker and meditation teacher Jacqui Lewis has been educating individuals, groups and leading organizations in higher-grade living for years via her school The Broad Place. In The 14 Day Mind Cleanse she offers a modern pocket guide to the program she has seen transform the lives of her students.
I wanted a book to help with my YouTube detox, and this was not the right book.
First up, it's a 7-day program, and then days 8-14 are practicing that.
Secondly, 14 days is WAY too fast and I approached it as a week to get each element in place.
And finally, the book is light on content and is basically a pamphlet or article in length. The introduction seemed great, which is why I bought it, but this is one of my worse book buys (especially in dead tree format!). The journaling prompts, especially, repeat each day and are surface-level and disappointing.
We’re all familiar with detox diets and cleanses for our bodies, but no one ever talks about a detox for the mind. Meditation teacher and international renowned speaker, Jacqui Lewis, shares a 14 day mind cleanse filled with practical and effective techniques to help you break free from mental clutter.
The 14 Day Mind Cleanse helps to refresh anxious minds through rituals that lead to calm, including meditation, a digital detox, doing less to achieve more, and an emphasis on positivity and joy. I found its simplicity most helpful. Recommended!
I have read this book to understand the 14 day mind cleanse, and understand what is required. I have enjoyed learning about the 14 day mind cleanse and now feel ready to take the challenge on. For me I need to fully read understand the reason read and take on the challenge. To fully complete the challenges described in the book you need self discipline and as described some are harder than others, my challenges were power down, reduce mashing and journaling. I’ve tried journaling several times this year and had no success this has given my journaling purpose so I continue to make a new healthy habit. This is a practice I will return to at least once every month to cleanse and be more mindful, self aware in all my interactions it’s a great personal growth tool and I certainly will use time and time again and share my experiences.
This is the first book I've read of an actual step-by-step detox, with daily challenges. Actually, was recommended to me and I decided to give it a try. I actually liked how the challenges were brought up, I mean this book got me to meditate and turn off my phone an hour before bed. I'd say mission accomplished.
It also help me take notice of my own behaviour regarding certain situations like multi-tasking, but at some parts it felt a big vague? Or maybe I was the one expecting more actionable tasks. I was rather disappointed by the journaling one, I admit. As someone who actually went into journaling last year (gave up due to forgetting to look up prompts) I was expecting the prompts given in this book to be more focused on self-development and bringing clarity to thoughts, and less on how I felt about using the techniques brought in the book every single day. Not to say that wouldn't be considered self-development but it gets a bit tiring after the third day to be answering to the same journaling prompts. To me, taking on journaling prompts is important because it forces me to go deep into my thoughts and this was just not it for me.
However, it's a good book that I recommend for anyone looking for a mind cleanse challenge. Certainly will be looking forward to doing more of these and get rid of some bad habits.
The 14 Day Mind Cleanse is packed full of tips to detox your mind and give you more head space for happiness.
The book is organised into days, giving you a new task to try on days 1-7, with additional things to try if you want to 'go deeper'. Days 8-14 focus on really working on those tasks daily and starting to make them habit.
Whilst this book was very relevant for me, and all of the information was practical and helpful; I found it a bit overwhelming. By the second week, there are 8 things to be doing each day.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and there are certainly elements that I will try and add into my daily routines, but it was a bit too much to try all at once.
My thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.
A really interesting read, one I picked up because I'm a bit mentally overwhelmed at the moment.
I've given most of the exercises a try and some were easier than others. I can see the benefits of working through them, but some are more challenging to do in the middle of hectic family life.
Still, its a good starting point and it got me thinking about how I can help calm my mind down and lift myself out of the some of the ruts I'm stuck in, so I'm glad I read this book.
This was a useful book to start the process. I did love the snippets or zen stories and other way of thinking about mindfulness. It was a bit much for me right now to incorporate into my life totally but little things I have done.
What I liked was it generated conversation with my adult children. These approaches are able to be discussed now not like when I was their age.
I was given an advance copy by net galley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own
In order to get the most out of this book, you need to have, not only the time, but also the patience for the suggested activities. I, however, did not have that much time to execute the tasks and therefore, did not benefit much from this.
In hindsight, I should’ve picked up this book when I had a bit more time to spare.
Would definitely recommend to people who have the time to dive deep into the practices and therefore, get the most out of it.
The 14 day mind cleanse challenge didn’t suit my day to day life very well as I couldn’t find much time for some of the activities due to other things, however I learnt some useful strategies from this book and think people should push themselves to give this book and challenge a go even if it’s just to find a few good strategies for a good mental health.
Great book, in terms of actionable tasks that's a huge portion of the book so if you're looking for that shake up within your life or full guidance.. step in.
The premise of this book really appealed to me. However, the actual book was quite difficult to follow. I found this book very dense and a lot of the info went over my head. I think writing about meditation is quite difficult, I think if this had been an audio book I would have been able to digest it a little better.
I didn't enjoy this, or get much from it unfortunately.
