Big Boys #8

Big Brain

Rate this book

It’s the trip of a lifetime–ruined castles and ancient battlefields.

But I can’t stop longing for my burly professor.

A year ago, I used to see more of him. Back before the professor’s book deal and rise to TV fame, I used to visit his office hours. We’d sit and talk together; going over lecture notes and assignments.

A year ago, it felt like he was mine.

He wasn’t, obviously. Professor Munro is twice my age–and so off limits it’s not even funny. So why do I miss him so badly? Why does my chest ache when we pass in the halls? Why did I sign up for this trip, looking for any excuse to spend a few weeks near him?

And when we finally set foot in Scotland… why does it seem like the professor can’t keep away either?

Big Brain is a short and steamy age gap instalove story, starring a history professor and the quiet student he can’t help wanting.

Definitely one of the better novella from the Big Boys series. I'm familiar with age gap romances, but it was the first one that I read where it was a teacher/student situation. I liked that the story took place outside of school for the most part. Since it was a different setting, it helped making the relationship less problematic.

I really liked Angie, she was shy, sweet, smart and a little bit of sass mixed in, once she felt comfortable. I liked that she was bold when she needed to be. Her crush on Cameron was adorable. I normally don't really care about heroine POV, because they tend to be underwhelming compared to the hero's, but I enjoyed hers.

She’s beautiful and clever and so adorably serious—a young woman at the beginning of her career. Meanwhile I’m a burly, aging history professor with a loud mouth and a terrible sense of humor.-Cameron

Cameron was interesting. I thought that his crush on Angie was adorable but I wished we had more background on it. He was protective and he had some caveman thoughts at times. A little bit of jealousy as well but nothing too crazy. I thought that it would be somewhat cringy to have an older man lust over his university's student but it was actually cute

I’m a caveman. She’s sent me back in time. I’m a heartbeat away from tossing her over my shoulder and sprinting out into the darkness, hollering that she’s mine. -Cameron

I almost wished this novella was a full length novel because I wanted more of this couple, their relationship was believable and natural. It would've been nice to see their first meeting, and other cute moments during those years while they were secretly crushing on each other, building the tension and desires. Pretty much to know how they fell in love. Other than that maybe more steam would've be nice. But overall, I really liked the pacing, and everything about this story.

Would I recommend this novella? Yes, in my opinion, it's one of the better novellas from the Big Boys series. It felt complete, no rushed, and the relationship between Cameron and Angie was decent and sweet.

**Note that I do not rate novellas and full-length books by the same standards**

A nice ending to a good series.

This book closes out the series of hefty heroes (at least for now) and I’m sad to see them go. These were all 4 and 5 star reads for me.

This was a professor student read. I didn’t relate to either character very much and I thought how they dragged their instalove out for years and then months was a little much for me. Still it was a fun quick forbidden read with a hefty hero (my favorite).

This is the last novella apart of Cassie Mint's Big Boys series!

This one is centered around Professor Cameron Munro and one of his college students Angie. They have both been pining over each other for quite a while, and the dam finally breaks.

What a fun read! Not my favorite in the series though unfortunately.

This book is so different and so adorable. Despite being less then 70pages it still manages to capture the warmth and characters of the characters. I love how this book focuses more on the longing and romantic aspects instead of the sexual attraction, but this book is still an amazing blend of it.

I love how cozy and comfortable it is, I don't want it to end. They're just so good to eachother and so thoughtful.

I wish we have more big burly men in books as main love interest cause people are missing out on this!

I just wasn't feeling this one.
I was excited for a teacher/student romance but I was hoping the smexy stuff happened in the school with a chance at getting caught and stuff.
There wasn't a conflict or anything really, and I found the pet names to be a little cringy, but that's just me. I don't really like "sweetheart" or "angel" used.
Plus the professor using her full name felt a little weird to me and not really all that smexy.
I thought the story had merit but it was a let down. Not the best Cassie Mint book I've read. I still think Big Biker was the best, next to The Thief.

"If he wants to be rid of me, he'll have to peel me off like a bandaid."

Big Brain is the eighth book in the Big Boys and this one is a long-time smoldering lust filled wanting story between an older professor and his younger student. Angie Kim is starting her last semester before she graduates. She is hard working and dedicated but she has a very secret obsession......a long time crush on her history professor. Cameron Munro may be a stuffy history professor but he is quite popular since he now stars in his own TV show and has a successful book that he wrote. Half the students may have a crush on him but there is only one that he craves, Angie Kim. They both know that it can never be, both thinking this for different reasons. But when Cameron decides the next show is to be shot in Scotland he also ensures that there are a couple positions for his favorite students, Angie and Brian. Angie is quick to accept the offer and before everyone knows it they are off for two weeks in Scotland. It may take a week but finally Angie and Cameron get together, at least partially. They both know it cannot last as they would both be in a lot of trouble if anything continued once they get back home. But what will happen when Angie finally graduates and their are no more rules keeping them apart?

This is a fast moving story that kept my interest. I liked the characters and their back and forth, longing looks and major sexual tension was entertaining. This was an entertaining read.

Angie & Cameron

I’m finally done with this series! Hell yeah.
… and the fact that I’m more glad about being done with the series, than having experienced it, is telling.

I did not like these books. As a whole.
This particular one was fine.

Kind of unbelievable that a Professor with several book deals and a TV show that is apparently super popular, doesn’t believe he can offer anything for someone who just finished college but whatever.

Angie & Cameron were cute together.
I liked that they pined for each other. And that they waited to be together officially until after Angie’s graduation — tho I doubt that that was very intentional.

I’m kind of confused why Brian’s (the second student that accompanied Cameron to Scotland for a taping of his TV show) stares were so unresolved at the end.
I assume the one liner by Cameron that Angie made an impression on Brian was for us to believe that Brian was attracted to Angie? And that’s why he stared but it’s never explicitly stated nor is it otherwise explained.

And the end of the day it was an okay novella.
But I’m glad it marks the end of this series for me.

Angie has had a thing for Professor Munro, she used have time to him but with his book deal and television show he is high demand. She thought they were getting closer but with a short time to graduation she is getting desperate.

Cameron Munro misses his time he would spend with Angie just talking in his office, but there is no way she is interested in him. When there are two openings for the trip to Scotland for his show, he brings his two top students along, Angie is one of them.

The more they spend time together, the closer the lines between teacher and student are blurred. This is a sweet and steamy read.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Cameron is a professor and TV personality. Angie is a student of his. Their relationship started with an attraction that developed into a deep friendship. They both keep their true feelings hidden, not only because he is her professor but because of their own doubts. In a last ditch to have time with her before she graduates, he invites her to travel with the show to Scotland. Cameron controls his feelings even when crossing the line. Angie hopes for one last chance but she might give up before Cameron crumbles. This was a short and sweet romance. It has steamy moments but still a lot of emotions.

This was such a cute adorable slightly angsty read.

I love how both of them are SO CONSIDERATE of each other. They know they're down for one another, the attraction is so obvious over the weeks, months & years. But they did not act on it.

Professor Cameron Munro sir, the way Angie desribes him made me think of those big hunky muscled men that aged like goddamn fine wine.

Like she said, he is like a vintage scotch. Seasoned, not old.

He is so whipped like whipped cream and I swear whenever he tried to not think of her, trying to hold himself, the more he realized how true his feelings towards her.

And cheers to Cassie Mint's incredible writing. I am so hooked with her gripping style. LOVE ITTTT.

Big Brain is another installment in Cassie Mint’s contemporary romantic novella series, Big Boys. This novella focuses on the romantic journey of Angie Kim and Professor Cameron Munro. Of the novellas so far, I enjoyed this one the most. Ms. Mint uses her masterful skills with literary devices—complex characters, outstanding dialog, dual POV, and descriptive language—in such a way as to captivate her readers’ attention. I appreciate that this age-gap is rooted in Academia. Additionally, she handles this topic respectfully. Despite Angie and Cameron’s mutual attraction, they had enough restraint to wait until after her graduation to be together.

Angie is in her last year of college but she has had been attracted to her history college professor Cameron Munro since her first year of college. She use to go to his office to talk to him and so did every other student. Cameron became famous and started doing books, talk shows, and televison. Angie is one of two people that get a invitation to go to scotland with the professor Cameron. Once there both Angie and Cameron admitt their attraction to each other but keep it somewhat platonic interactions between each other until Angie graduation. This is student teacher romance, age gap, short. It was a great and I enjoyed tremendously.

Angie and Cameron

This is a professor\student story. Angie is shocked to be invited to Scotland by her professor but she is more than willing to go. It has been months since she last saw him, busy as he was with his newfound fame. Spending time with the nan she was in love with but has no hope to be reciprocated is a dream come true. The last thing she expects is that they would grow closer and the lines between professor\student would blur. Great plot and fantastic writing. Highly recommended

He's a burly professor with a serious crush on one of his students. Angie is a soft-spoken young woman who is captivated with her professor. They both have the same feelings but doubt themselves to act upon them. When he offers her the opportunity to come to Scottland with him will it change their fate, and will it have them unleashing their feelings for each other finally? This story drew m in and had me in their corner cheering them on to finding happiness!

Professor Cameron loves his student, Angie. He’s been thinking of her for years, wanting her! She feels the same way but feels he is more distant now he’s semi famous and she coming up to graduation. A trip to Scotland for his tv show allows them to be honest with each other without the restraints of school. Sweet, romantic, hot and steamy. Beautiful age gap romance with an absolutely amazing HEA

Cassie Mint has quickly become one of my absolute favorite authors and Big Brain is just another perfect example. Professor Munro is obsessed with one of his students, Angie Kim but he knows she is off limits and would never want someone like him. Angie Kim is desperately in love with her professor but could he ever feel the same? If you like age/gap forbidden romance you will love their story.

It's no secret by now that I am a huge Cassie Mint fan. I love her passionate short stories for when I'm not in a mood for longer romances.
Cameron and Angie's story is no exception. I loved them together and I always revel in the fact that we get both POV's.
If short, steamy stories is your thing, then this is just the book for you!

These last couple of Big Boys stories have been so sweet! Cameron is no exception. I loved reading from his point of view, he was so adorable with his love for Angie. These two were so perfect for each other but neither one having any idea how they felt. Throw in a trip to Scotland, nightly visits to Cameron's room made this story a great read.
