Ex-FBI profiler turned private detective Jordan Alexander finds herself knee deep in two cases: a dead lawyer and the Full Moon Killer.
When a grieving sister warns Jordan that her brother’s accidental overdose might actually be murder, the quick-witted detective digs right in.
It appears the case the lawyer was working on was a young girl, victim of the Full Moon Killer. Except that the latter has been in prison for years.
So who killed her and why? Was it a copycat killer or something more sinister? Jordan decides to dig deeper… just like the dead attorney did before her.
But sometimes, the truth is better left buried… and Jordan could learn it the hard way.
*** NO SPOILERS *** Important to read series in order - Great start to a really good read
This part of the story starts off with a hook and just keeps running. The author has, in my opinion, a somewhat unique writing style but it works well for his story. The pace is quick, the characters believable, the technical details are sound. This is my first reading of this author. Unusual for me as I far prefer to read all books in a series in order. I read the second volume first. Also unusual, this story isn't complete in one "book" but rather chopped into mini-books, and I don't prefer that method. Having said that, upon reading the second book as my first, I was hooked enough to immediately buy the first part of the story to fill in some blanks and see what I had missed. Glad that I did. I like to try to figure out the mysteries as I go and there are often seed details planted early in the story and unobtrusively so as to not attract undue attention. Devoured this first part of the story as soon as I got it.
There are some things about which I have questions - part from the author's style, part from the standpoint of technical details, that I hope will be filled in as the tale progresses.
All in all, from the two parts I've read thus far, I'm hooked, will eagerly look forward to the remainder of the story, and look forward to more of this author's work.
I did receive a promotional copy of the second book which does not keep me from leaving an unbiased review. I purchased the first book
Martin Dempsey was meticulous with his heart meds, setting a timer for each time it was due so to die of an overdose seemed extremely unlikely. And his sister was convinced it was no accident or suicide, it was murder, so convinced that she paid Jordan to look into it. And Jordan did. And she was also convinced that there was more to it than met the eye.
A new and exciting offering from Paisley, the start of another promising series. As always, this will just whet your appetite, leaving you hungry for more.
This is a great start to a new murder mystery series featuring ex-FBI agent turned Private Investigator Jordan Alexander. This is the first five chapters in the book and is easy to read. It will be interesting to see where the characters in the story take us and Jordan Alexander to solve the murder. I received this as an Advanced Reader's Copy.
Received this as an ARC. Matthew knows how to dangle that carrot in front of your nose just enough to pull you in and then he jiggles the carrot more and more to pull you in further!

I received an email from the author and this is my voluntary honest review. Amazing author! Amazing story! A gripping edge of your seat read! To short! I wanted more!
I received a free ARC of this book for an honest review. A gripping read that had me hooked from page 1. I can't wait to help Jordan solve the mystery and learn more about Frank. I'm also interested to see how things play out with Brett and Colton, but most importantly was Martin murdered?
