Dwelling on Dreams

Draco thought he could avoid Potter for the duration of his brief return to England. He’d stick to his schedule and be back home in Paris, where he belonged, in a few short months. No trouble at all. He had plenty to occupy him, what with the opening of the London branch of his successful apothecary, his innovative research, drinks with Pansy, a backlog of unread potions periodicals.

Except Head Auror Potter is everywhere — in Draco's chair, at his door, in his dreams. All six feet of motorbike-riding, combat-boot-wearing, sex-hair-sporting Saviour of the World packed into one unfairly fetching uniform. Potter won’t leave Draco the bloody hell alone, won’t let him breathe, let him forget, let him sleep.

Because no matter how fast Draco Malfoy runs, Harry Potter is always hot on his heels.

“Do you know what the problem was the first time? Why it fell apart?" Emile asked.

"I have some idea, yes." Draco wanted to withdraw, wanted to scoff and roll his eyes and brush it off. But Emile had him pinned with his gaze, captured in his arms.

"No. It was that you didn't have me. But I'm here now to tell you what a fool you are."

"I tell myself that all the time, thanks."

Emile shook his head. "No, you do it wrong. You aren't a fool because you're a bad man. You want so badly to be useful. To prove what's in your heart. You've made mistakes, but I can't let you make one more. You are a fool because you can't see how people want to love you. How desperately they want your love in return. It's right there. Right in front of you. Waiting.”

Tropes:
– Draco/Harry fanfiction
– Romantic suspense
– Second chance
– Frenemies with benefits

Ten years ago, Draco and Harry had frenemies with benefits relationship that was on the verge of turning into something more. But when Draco moves away, spurred by events, it all comes to a screeching halt. Now, he's back to open a new store for his business but he keeps getting robbed. And who should come help but Head Auror Harry Potter?

MY GOD, second chance drarry???? Yes yes yes yes yes. I love this author with everything in me. All their works are straight masterpieces and I am a sucker for second chance so this was an immediate fave. This was all in Draco's POV but you could feel Harry's love for him right off the page. I have so many favorite moments from this book. Like the way all of Draco's potions are cures to different ailments Harry has had?! Are you joking?!

The last couple chapters are what really do it for me in this one. Harry storming to Draco's house after ten long years of pining, the hospital scene (the Clash shirt!!!!!), and the epilogue!! Such a soft ending for two boys who deserve it. They were both absolute idiots at times and the miscommunication lasted so long, but I would expect nothing less from my two headstrong darling babies who don't know how to communicate in a relationship to save their lives.

Hands down one of my favorite Drarry, if not my absolute favorite. Love their love.

A lovely Drarry fic where Draco and Harry had a fling after the war and then Draco ran away because neither of them could communicate.

I appreciated Draco's self-hatred and warped way of thinking. Many Drarry fics write Draco to be way too healed and self-assured and healthy.

This one addresses his feelings of shame and self-disgust. I think his going away to build a new life was appropriate, though his repeated inability to see what was before his eyes- that both he and Harry were obsessed with each other- was so frustrating.

Nevertheless, people are very frustrating in real life.

The writing was beautiful, the drama was emotional, and there were many very beautiful physical descriptions. This fic had one of the best descriptions of setting and visuals that I've read.

Great stuff.

I really enjoyed this Drarry Fic. Draco has bene living in France for the past several years but is now back in England to open a new apothecary. He plans to avoid Harry at all costs but that is not as easy as he would think. This is a getting back together fic with great characterization. I do wish that the miscommunication had been less and that we got more of them being together.
