"Sometimes trail dust is thicker than blood."

There's nothing Just Jimmy wants more than to fit in with his new outfit on the McKinnon Ranch, and it's what Doctor Rebekah LaRoche needs, too—another piece in the puzzle of her returning to the Omaha Indian Reservation. But jealousy, a pressing contract with the U.S. Calvary, and soap soup quickly put Jimmy at odds with Steve Bowers, the new head wrangler.

Still shy of the horses they need and facing the looming contract deadline, Steve makes the bold suggestion to catch and break wild mustangs—except Jimmy and Steve aren't the only ones taking care of business in the rugged heart of the Medicine Bow Mountains.

When Jimmy stumbles upon orphaned triplets surviving off the mountain with their flock of sheep and trusty border collie, he must face not only their uncle’s drunken rage and false accusation of rustling sheep—but a dark shadow from his own past.

Jimmy has a kind of wound Rebekah can’t begin to heal until she understands what shaped the young man who has become her loyal companion. But are either of them prepared for a day when he will no longer be by her side?

About the Doc Beck Westerns:

Doctor Rebekah LaRoche is known as Doc Beck, which gets her foot in doors before they slam in her face because she’s a woman. A sophisticated spitfire with remarkable people skills, a foot in the door is all Rebekah needs to do her job. But the work doesn’t fill the longing in her heart for a place to truly call home—and someone beyond herself to believe in.

Working hard to help break rough horses on the McKinnon Ranch, 'Just' Jimmy continues to find new, challenging ways to test himself and his relationships with the Head Wrangler, Steve, and the other cowboys. Tired and aching from the daily grind, he still has to endure being the 'kid' and subjected to good-natured ribbing from the other men. When the ranch is faced with a potential disaster due to possibly not being able to meet contractual commitments to deliver a horse herd to the U.S. Army, Jimmy is tested in new and different ways to do his part as a member of the crew as they scramble to overcome the shortage. I thoroughly enjoyed Bronc Buster and I'm sure you will too.

I just finished reading the newest Doc Beck book, Bronc Buster, and it’s another winner in my book! Sarah has such a way of drawing you into her stories. The way she writes her characters, you almost feel as if you are a part of the story yourself and that the characters are real. I loved the fact that Just Jimmy got to shine in this one and his actions proved that “Sometimes trail dust is thicker than blood…”

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author but was not required to write a review. All opinions are 100% honest and 100% my own.

Wonderful adventure!
Just Jimmy is becoming such a wonderful man. It's great to see even the big, tough, burly cowboys around him respect him... well, they don't see him as a little kid.

It was also nice to see Doc not being the focus of the trouble they meet up with in this one. She was almost a side character, but her words of wisdom, as well as her skills, played important parts in several situations.

Another wonderful addition to the Doc Beck series. In this adventure the head wrangler of the McKinnon ranch, Steve guides the ranch hands along with Doc Beck to the Medicine Bow mountains to capture and tame wild horses. The conflicts amongst the men and the dangers of being in the mountains created a real page turner. I enjoyed reading Just Jimmy's development, belief in God and his kind heart. A great series that I highly recommend reading.

Magnificent story!

The Story flows without a flaw. One can just about believe they are with the characters every step of the way. The triplets outcome is very satisfying.
Again, Miss Sarah includes our Father in the storyline. Now to wait for the next episode to come out. This entire series has been a wonderful adventure.

One heck of a story. Jimmy is truly blessed. A look into the life and times in the 1800's. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Jimmy is becoming a bronc buster to get horses ready to sell to the army. I hurt for him, taking such a beating. Part of this book reminded me a bit of Little Bo Peep, Lassie, or Pied Piper. Jimmy has a big, soft heart for neglected children. These children have a flock of sheep. Doc Beck is needed again to help the wounded. The big rockslide was very scary, as were the armed drunk and the thieves. The new boss thinks he has more than he can handle; Doc Beck helps him, too.
This is a clean, interesting series. Character development is just wonderful.
