Sometimes campers arrive with a deadly amount of baggage.

Accepting a cabin reservation from the Mason brothers didn’t seem like a big deal—especially as they were returning guests enjoying their second vacation at the campground. But it seemed the previous year these campers did more than just hike and fish. Tales of their drunken behavior, and a mysterious incident have Sassy concerned even before the men arrive.

The Masons start off their vacation with a bang—a loud, rowdy, bang. When one of them turns up dead after a heated argument with the local coffee shop owner, Sassy’s friend finds herself the primary suspect in the murder.

With her friend in trouble, Sassy jumps in to investigate, and discovers there are more secrets to the Mason brothers than anyone ever expected.

A wonderful cozy mystery.
Loved every minute of it and hated to see it end.
Full of surprises.
A fast paced read that has you wondering what will happen next.
Looking forward to the next book in the series!

Sassy doesn't think twice about accepting reservations for the three Mason brothers who had been at the campground the year before. She has second thoughts when she starts hearing stories of their rowdy behaviour and a mysterious incident that the eldest brother had with local coffee shop owner Sierra. When the eldest brother turns up dead, suspicion falls on Sierra but Sassy is convinced of her innocence. Can Sassy sort out the lies and discover all the secrets that lead to the death before things get even more out of hand?

My thoughts: Though I didn't know all the details, the basic reason for the secret between Sierra and the elder Mason brother seemed rather obvious to me quite early on so I really wasn't surprised when Sierra finally told Sassy the details. As for the murder? I was convinced as to who did it very early as the person had means and opportunity - I just didn't know what the motive was. That revelation was only mildly surprising but it did fit when all factors were considered.

The character of Sassy is interesting but having so many references to how much they needed to make money to do upkeep and repairs written in the text of the first few chapters seemed to be a bit overdone. Readers get the point of how hard it is to start or take over a business and don't need to be constantly reminded. Aside from that, it is nice to have a 55+ lead and her spunky 85 year old mom is one smart lady!

Aside from 9 typos that I noted (3 of which were character names spelt incorrectly) this was a fun quick read.

Another fun-tastic read!

Like the first in the series, “Death is on the Menu” provided an enjoyable respite from my recovery from COVID. In the next in this Reckless Camping series, Sass has another body on her hands- only this time it’s a troublesome paying customer at the campground!

The second of the series, I love the continuity of characters and landscape, as well as the deepening of the main characters. Plus, the new arrivals are written with depth and imagination.

The perfect way to spend a flu-ridden Sunday!

Another enjoyable story

I enjoyed the first book and picked up the second through Kindle Unlimited. I think I’ve found another series as enjoyable as the Aunt Bessie mysteries. I am hoping to find out more about Lottie in the subsequent books. I’d like to know why she uses a rifle scope to be nosy instead of binoculars.

This was an agreeable mystery that didn't insult the reader's intelligence. I'm kind of disappointed with the resolution - a secondary character didn't mention potential evidence for days, finally mentions it, and that cracks the whole case without effort. Still, the MC did a lot of hard work and was actually pivotal to the conclusion, I'm happy with pretty much everything else about the book.

I really like this series

I’m so glad it is on kindle unlimited. Sassy and Elvis find a dead body on the trail and it turns out to be one of the campers. Jake, Sassy and Mom figure out the murder. Can’t wait for the next one.

I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first in the series. I think the story was well written with the author leading us through the story to the conclusion. The characters are likeable and strong. Looking forward to the next book. Recommend reading.

I didn't intend to get hooked on another series, but I'm most certainly hooked! I love Sassy, Mom, Elvis, Jake and the other regular characters. Now I have to wait for the next book to come out.

Can't put it down

Loved this story with a lot of emotions to relate to. Love the characters. They are most believable and not over the top.
