Meeting Sutton Hargrave was the beginning of the end for me.
My journalistic—fine, nosy—nature has led me a lot of places. Without question, Midnight Falls is definitely the craziest. Get in, get out. That was the plan. But now, thanks to a vengeful witch, I find myself trapped alongside an entire pack of werewolves—because apparently, they’re real.
And the sexy, mysterious Sutton Hargrave seems to think I’m the key to freeing us all.
If I want to do that, I’ll have to face more than just a witch out for revenge.
I’ll have to let go of the one man who actually claims to love me.
Even if it kills me to set him free.

USA Today Bestselling Author of steamy PNR and fantasy romance.
Ever since my grandmother first handed me a Nora Roberts novel, I KNEW I wanted to write romance.
I love love. Crave it. For me, genre doesn't matter as long as there is a beautifully epic love story woven into the storyline.
Which is exactly why I chose to write across so many genres. Paranormal, fantasy, contemporary, suspense...no matter which of my books you choose you always know what you're getting: a love story for the ages.
And before I was an author, I was a reader! Please be sure to follow me here, or add me as a friend! I love to connect!
Omg, that ending!! I literally wanted to throw my phone! This was such a fast pace read. Before I knew it I was done. This one kept me on the edge of the seat with everything that Serenity was doing. Discoveries were made and I honestly can’t wait for the final battle. The narrator, Savannah Rivers does a wonderful job portraying the characters. She uses a variety of tones and inflections that made this book a fun and engaging listen.
Book two picks up without missing a beat. The curse has been kinda lifted, but still so many questions remain regarding what is going on. Serenity is confused about everything and especially her feelings.....so much has happened in such a short time and she doesn't know what to make of everything. And don't get me started on that ending.....I can't wait to see what these come up with next
I love this series!! It keeps you on your toes and flipping the pages like crazy!! This curse and the witches are freaking nuts!
But, oh how I adore Sutton. Not only is he very yummy, but he’s smart, alpha, a leader, so sweet and so hot! Sutton and Serenity are meant to be together. But as crazy as she is about Sutton, Serenity begins to doubt that. All she wants to do is what’s best for him.
The ending is a major freaking shock and cliffhanger!!! I can’t wait for the next book!! I can’t get enough of life in Midnight Falls, and Serenity can’t either.
As I read this second installment, I find myself eye rolling. Way too many times. The last book started going downhill, this book is keeping up with that trend. There was so much potential with this story. Had it been written well throughout. This whole bodysnatching aspect, does not really work. There is just something about it that just feels too far-fetched, does not really seem to be cohesive with the story. It felt like ridiculous foolishness and my mind kept wanting to replace the narrative on it. Serenity, Serenity, Serenity. Speaking of ridiculous foolishness, some examples: “I have to find a way to free them,” I add softly. “And you.” And me. “Until I do that, I can’t let myself feel things for you.” “You can’t stop feeling,” he says. “It doesn’t work that way.” I shake my head, willing him to be wrong even though I know he isn’t. “It has to.” - come on journalism major, can you use appropriate words? He is right you can’t stop feeling, so let’s use proper wording, I can’t let myself ACT ON THE feelings I have for you. Know at this point, she’s guilt tripping, so I’ll give her talk about not trying to start some kind of relationship. “And after what she did earlier, siding with Sutton as alpha, she’s officially been crossed off my suspect list. No way would Myrtle argue for Sutton keeping his power.” WHAT? Is she really that ridiculous, to think it’s that easy? Oh because this person did a nice thing, she’s no longer a suspect? Laughable. And this is someone who thinks they would make a good investigative journalist? Let alone they have an older brother, who is a homicide detective and has been exposed to his position, and she still has thoughts like this? Sigh, and sigh again. She was led to a witch’s grimoire, yet she does no research on casting spells, just finds a spell and recites it, when she has ZERO knowledge about magic and spellcasting, which leads to more mayhem. More and more as I read, she should not has been written as a journalist, because she seems to have no qualities of one. The more I read, the more she portrayed to be an idiot, lacks good judgment, good sense, way too naive acting, just lacking. And then, all this time since her finding out that she has magic, why is there no questioning who she is in relation to her family? She’s the youngest of five children, all her older siblings are brothers. How is it she does not stop to think why she is different? Bringing back the witch’s daughter? Too much. So you can have your book filled with drama? That doesn’t even make sense given the reason already provided why the curse exists? Ridiculousness does not make a good book. And drama, for the purpose of having drama is ridiculousness. She claims she read about mates, so why would she believe Tabitha, when she already knows Sutton said he wanted nothing to do with her, and read the crazy obsession writing that she wrote a century ago, that started all this mess, that doesn’t sound like fated mates. She also should’ve read about the pull that mates feel towards one another, the very one she talk and Sutton talked about that was felt between the two of them? I had to wonder with crap character writing like this, author, did you stop to read any part of what you wrote and stop to think about how it does not make sense? Apparently not. Serenity talks to her dad, who has a history and research buff, he asked her for the family name that she called home about, and she dismisses it and says oh, it was nothing. Girl, what is you doing? Then she proceeds to continue to give credence to the ramblings of a crazy person, that she knows is a crazy person, she read some words and decided that they are about her, when they are clearly not about her, yet and still, she is taking the words of crazy obsessed Tabitha, just because she provided some supposed prophecy out of thin air that was written, and not given any thought to sweetie it’s not talking about you fool. But nope, it’s Serenity who is the fool instead. And why doesn’t Sutton know about mates and the mate pull? That’s how it reads since he says nothing about Tabitha not being his mate and his mates recognize one another. Absolutely exasperating and not in a good way. At all. More ridiculous foolish drama. The story became extremely exaggerated, lacked any believability with the storyline, the reason behind the curse and lasting the way it has, and then things escalating, Serenity is the cliche written stupidity, it’s all really ridiculously stupid. Third book, no, thank you.
Midnight Hunted, the second book in the Mated by Midnight series, was freaking awesome! I cannot get enough of Sutton Hargrave. The plot is great too.
Yes, Sutton and Serenity are super coupley in this one. The attraction is unreal but they're also starting to share things and form a real connection. The pair support, care for and protect one another. However, it's not all good vibes, Sutton is working my last nerve by hiding crap and Serenity is even worse with her guilt over something that wasn't even her fault to begin with.
Somehow the town manages to feel less creepy and creepier all at once. Most of the town is treating Serenity better, there is one wolf causing problems, for a bunch of people. Mabel is adorable and we learn a secret she's been keeping, Finneas is still my favorite townsfolk but Cara is a close second, she and Serenity are forming a friendship which is good Ser could use a friend that knows what's really going on. As for the creepy crap, there's still a sinister feeling with Mertyle creeping about in the woods up to new tricks.
The story was equal parts characters and plot. Plot-wise a lot happened but no goals were met. There's still a curse, two witches are still on the loose and people are dying. Not only do we have wolves, witches, and specters but now zombies are thrown into the mix. Freaking zombies! There were a few confrontations, a magical battle or two and an old face has returned. Not to mention a freaking prophecy has been revealed. Say what? However, I have a feeling that things aren't how they appear, so I'm crossing my fingers.
Once again Savannah Rivers has done an excellent job narrating, Midnight Hunted was excellent. I am beyond hooked, I have to see how it ends especially after that shoe I've been waiting to drop, finally has, as a cliffhanger ending. It all ends with Midnight Bound. Bring it!
Didn't see that ending coming but things are definitely going to get interesting in the last book now. The only reason this lost a star for me from the first book is I felt like not a lot happened in the first half of the book.
Serenity appears to have magic but does she know how to use it? Definitely not she doesn't even know how on earth she managed to shoot magic from her fingers that now allows everyone to shift again and move freely back and forth from town. Though it doesn't last long as myrtle finds someone to sacrifice putting the barrier back up, only this time Sutton isn't on his own in the woods he's with everyone else in the town but not everyone is happy to have their alpha back as they've spent so many years without him. Things heat up between Serenity and Sutton only to come crashing down when she accidently releases Tabitha his so called fated mate something she still believes is true and has the prophecy to prove it. Serenity realizes maybe love just isn't in the cards for her and now more than ever she wants to break the curse and leave the town of Midnight Falls behind forever. Myrtle makes Serenity an offer for her to be free, give her blood so she can seal the town forever in exchange she'll take away the pain of spending eternity trapped in a town with a man she's destined not to be with. But when Serenity refuses Myrtle plays hardball reanimating all those the town has lost in a bid to get Serenity or just her blood. Once thought to be the curse breaker now her blood could trap them forever.
Book 1 started off with a great prospect but by end of book FMC putting couple toes into TSTL category. Also she just found out about supernatural but thinks basic humans can police them 😹….For nosy reporter she totally misses the red flags.. at end of book 1 The “bad guy” took her cell phone and magically disappeared it…so how the fuck does she have her cell phone….most of this book was a whiny FMC..blaming herself for the death of a person…bitch please one person gets their throat cut and another gets the body jump every year for the last 100 years…also all the searching around town to find the answers to lift the curse…well if the answers were in town you would think that they would have found them by now. I have book 1 a 3 star due to the trope of TSTL…this one fell to a 1 star….felt like I was reading about a young teenager versus a mid 20 something. Think a lot of the push and pull between FMC and MMC was so the author could have drama…but I liked MMC and just about everyone in the story except FMC..FMC thought that she was safe with someone since she had been alone with them twice….really cuz Witch has a year to play her games why show her hand so early in game<—-that there is why 1 star review and all the movie references as well
Serenity is a journalist in New York who can't seem to catch a break - losing her fiancé and her job consecutively. A murder mystery in Midnight Falls might just give her the story she needs to get her job back. But murder isn't the only mystery going on in this sleepy little town, and she's going to do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of it, including what is up with the curse that keeps sexy Sutton Hargrave confined to the forest behind her hotel. However, the more she learns, the more she discovers she may have bitten off a little more than she can chew.
This is a collaboration a perfect blend of both authors. I love the writing of each of these authors on their own, but when they pool their talents, the results are explosive. It's filled with exciting adventure, tongue-in-cheek humor, wonderful characters - including the villains - and a sizzling, sexy match made in magic heaven. What more could one need?
I really liked the first book in this series and was excited to read this 2nd book. There is some progress with the plot. I like some of the secondary characters like Cara and Sutton’s dad. The painting part was a great twist. However, Serenity’s personality is totally different in this book and I wasn’t loving it. She is whiny, wishy washy and insecure. She acts like a complete idiot half the time and is daydreaming about Sutton the other half. I feel like a lot of the back and forth with them wasn’t natural and was forced for “drama” but I wasn’t buying it. I rolled my eyes so many times. I wish more time to was spent on getting answers and Serenity figuring out her magic. She was so weak in this book and it was infuriating. Anyway, I will read the last book and I am hoping that it hits more like the first. The humor, wit and intrigue that was in the first book just wasn’t in this one and I’m sad about it.
Wow, talk about jumping the shark. We go from “hey we are werewolves under a 100 year old curse” to releasing the ghost of the witch who started it all to I’m not worthy and if the prophecy says he’s supposed to be with the obsessed stalker witch turned ghost, then I can’t have him, to zombie werewolves to my brother the cop arresting the love of my life for murder (who I am giving up for reasons). At least it’s a short book. How ridiculous can you get? And the body count. Good grief, you’d think this was “Kill Bill” or something. Don’t get attached to anyone. Counting the 1/year sacrifice for 100 years plus about 8-10 more by end of book 2, who is left in this wolf pack? If I find out that Sutton’s father Phineas has been taken over by Andrea the super witch and his corpse is rotting away in the woods, I’m going to throw my iPad out the window. Oh, and I predict that Serenity is a genetic descendent of all these crazy witches and Sutton being with her fulfills the prophecy. So there.

Serenity finally figures out the mystery that brought her to the small town of Midnight Falls, but at what cost?
This roller coaster ride picks up right where book 1 ends. I absolutely loved getting to spend more time with everyone in town and watching how everyone reacts to the changes that happened this year vs previous years. You’ll have a running tally of who could be the baddie and who might be the next victim the whole time you’re reading. I loved all the twists and turns Heather and Jessica throw at us. I love both these authors works, if you’re familiar with them you know they can write a sinister bad guy, and they didn’t hold back.
The book ends with you screaming for more. Seriously that cliffy was even worse than the last one! I need book 3 now!!!
If you love PNR and a good mystery, give this series a read!
I’m so confused about what happened to the writing in this book. I loved the first one. The prose was well done, I laughed a lot, and I liked Serenity. Then I move on to this book and it’s like Serenity has become a completely different person. I couldn’t stand her. Most of her thoughts, emotions, and reactions were so extreme and conflicting, I thought I had whip lash. I don’t understand half of her reservations and how she blamed everyone but herself for her own stupidity and stubbornness. I didn’t feel the chemistry between her and Sutton in this one.
There were also a few plot holes and comments that led to thoughts like “wait, how we did get there? Did I miss a part”?
I’m debating on whether to even read the third installment because I was left so frustrated with this one.
Once again I feel like we got nothing from this book. It was just constantly waiting for the plot to unfold. I want to keep reading because I finally want things to click into place but this should have been a duollogy, or even just one long novel. There was so much of this book that lead to nothing and maybe it will all tie together in the third but until then it leaves you feeling unsatisfied. Serenity is the only semi-likeable character. Sutton is as bland as bread and they have no chemistry. They suddenly love each other after about a week and only because they think the other person is hot. With the tropes you can easily see where its leading with them but i wish theyd just come out and say it rather than drag it out for no reason.
This is one of the best books I have read all year it might be better than the first one of the series if that's even possible. It started off where the first one ended perfectly and I am so glad that serenity and Sutton finally ended up hooking up and realizing how much they care about one another. This book will take you on a ride of emotions that you need to prepare yourself for. I wasn't expecting there to be zombies in it but I can't say that I'm disappointed. I can't stand tabitha and I hope that in the end she goes away for good same with Myrtle. The ending had me on the edge of my seat and I can't wait to find out what happens next since Steven showed up.
So good.... I don't know how Jessica and Heather do it together, but it's magic everytime.
Serenity just wants to love the boy and have a happily ever after. So a witch has trapped a whole town in human form for 100 years and kept their alpha away from there. Then comes that gal that breaks part of the curse... just boom!
Evil has been exposed, magic is looming everywhere, and we even get a surprise visitor... or three..... That ending!!! The hanger of ALL Cliffhangers.... Oh Steven, gotta love your brother... even if he drives you nuts... right?
You will not regret reading this series. Book 2 was great, but waiting for book 3 is going to be TORTURE...
So many emotions running from devouring this exciting, action packed, mind boggling and very powerful ending , will have you saying "what the heck did I just finish reading"? Holy crackers ! So intense and the spicy scenes will be having you fanning yourself and so many unanswered questions. Totally so worth the wait , someone really needs their Arse kicked so bad , with an Oh crap of an ending . This one will have you reading it non stop , hopefully Serenity will get her man in the next book, cannot wait to see what big brother does in that one.. This book was reviewed by a Book Loving Vixen..
Midnight Hunted, book 2 in Jessica Wayne and Heather Hildebrand's Mated by Midnight trilogy, is everything I expected and so much more! These two are definitely a match made in writer's heaven. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. And what an ending!!! Talk about the ultimate cliffhanger!
The storyline is fast-paced and very well written, filled with magic and mayhem, twists and turns, evil witches, danger, curses, intrigue, subterfuge and hot 🔥 romance. The characters are well developed and engaging. Serenity and Sutton are amazing, and I can't wait for book 3 to see how their story ends!
I think it’s funny that this is getting nuts and yet the world is just about cursed wolves stuck in a town prison magically created by a witch. Or two. Maybe three. Anyway I just love the adrenaline rush I get reading this. I highlighted a few hilarious lines. I was a little confused about how they didn’t exactly treat everyone like a suspect despite it meaning their life if they made a wrong move.
But I liked it. I love the sex in this. The drama is good. I think it’s a little obvious but I’m totally assuming it, it’s not like the serial killer is spelling things out in alphabet blocks.
Talk about mind blown! That ending and plot twist were superb! Book two kept me on the edge of my seat while Sutton and Serenity try and figure out how to break the curse once and for all. The witches are completely insane. The resident specters are sweet, and the townsfolk of Midnight Falls are endearing. I can’t wait for the final showdown and to see who comes out the victor.
Savannah Rivers does a phenomenal job portraying the cast of characters. Her tone and inflection keep you engaged throughout.
----------------- In this second book we can delve deeper into the curse that attacks Midnight Falls and all its occupants, as well as the relationship between Sutton and Serenity. It really was a good sequel to this series although there were times when Serenity's attitude annoyed me a bit, but I can't wait for the next book
Thanks to the authors for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.
This book picks up right where the previous left off and gives us a few more answers and also a lot more questions. Serenity is on an emotional roller coaster in this book feeling sad for failing. She also has to admit her feelings for Sutton, then guilt and worry that her family may come looking for her. This book was amazing and I am loving this crazy little town and the mysterious characters living there. I devoured this book and can’t wait to see what happens next!
I enjoyed Midnight Hunted even more than the first book (Midnight Cursed). This is an action-packed story with emotion, tension, and a mystery that's still going strong.
The slow burn of Serenity and Sutton is fulfilled, yet isn't at the same time because there are so many forces in the way.
The cliffhanger sparks a whole new dynamic of mayhem, which makes me curious about how all of this will end.
This picks up beautifully from the end of book one. The power that Serenity holds is still a mystery but the relationship with Sutton is Great! I enjoyed this book and Cliffhangers do not bother me. I will be looking forward to what is next for my favorite couple and the town. Amazing Story! I Loved It!!! No Spoilers! I need more! I received an ARC form the Authors and I am Leaving this Totally Honest Review because I Choose to and feel that it is an amazing story!
I'm so in love with this series, it’s amazing and it’s getting better! 🤩 Serenity and Sutton's love story is so romantic, full of ups and downs, and some zombies 🧟♀️🧟♂️😳... yep, you heard it right! 😅 I want to throat punch some evil witches so bad!!! 😤... can't wait to read about Serenity doing just that but, wait... WTH will happen now after that ending??? 😱 Ladies, you are master evils, playing with our feelings like that... #gimme the next book already!!! 🖤
The only thing that seems to bother me is when she refers to herself as a murderer when it was self-defense. It kind of twists the whole story into something that it shouldn't be. Never be scared to defend yourself. I mean she's a martial artist she should know these things.
Other than that I think the storyline was amazing just sad I have to wait for the next one.
⭐⭐.5 stars. The first book was better than this one. Serenity wallows for the 1/3 of the book, she also wastes time fighting the attraction towards Sutton. Not much happens in the book. Serenity starts to use her magic more but dosn't know how to use it. The ending was dumb with the zombies appearing and then his brother.
***this review contains some spoilers, you have been warned!!!!***
The book started off much better then the first. More action, definitely more suspense and a surprise ending. Serenity and Sutton have something that is undeniable. They are also very, very stubborn. As they figure out what needs to happen to break the new curse, they also have to deal with their feeling for each other. They townsfolk appreciate Serenity for what she has done, but she doesn’t see it that way. She is trapped, away from her family and it’s bothering her. But what she discovers could be the thing that this town needs .
Heather and Jessica are a match made in writing heaven. They make the words come alive on the pages. I love reading both of their works. I can wait to see what they come up with next.

What’s a girl to do while trapped in a town full of wolves, raging witches, and a sexy alpha? Serenity and Sutton are determined to put an end to the curse, but it’s proving difficult. I have to admit there were a few unexpected turns. I can’t get enough of Sutton🔥That ending!!! I devoured this book and seriously need the next one asap.
I am completely loving this story and cannot get enough. Ser has a rough time in this book and it seems like every time she and Sutton get hot, someone dies! The twists I did not expect and spent most of the book trying to figure out who Myrtle was hiding as. But I did not see that cliff hanger coming!! Onto book 3!!
This book wouldn't let me put it down. I was, once again, yelling at my book cuz I'm in love with this whole town & I just want Serenity Sutton to be happy. The cliff hanger nearly sent me over the edge!
