Mated by Midnight #3

Midnight Bound

Rate this book
I came to Midnight Falls to reclaim my life.

The plan was simple. Solve murders, then return to New York and show my cheating bastard ex what he lost.

If only it had been that easy.

Instead of solving murders, I committed them.
Instead of returning home, I'm trapped in murdery Midnight Falls right along with the pack.
And instead of showing my ex what he's missing, I ended up falling head-over-heels for a suspected murderer who has made it clear he’ll die before ever letting me go.

Sutton is the one person I’ll sacrifice everything to save–and the witch who cast this curse knows it too. In fact, she’s banking on it.

Her revenge has always been about making Sutton suffer. And now she will.

Because Sutton Hargrave’s greatest weakness is me.

The third and final book in Wayne & Hildenbrand's Mated by Midnight series is going to push Serenity and Sutton to the brink. So, grab a drink, a blanket, and get ready. Because Midnight Falls will never be the same.

USA Today Bestselling Author of steamy PNR and fantasy romance.

Ever since my grandmother first handed me a Nora Roberts novel, I KNEW I wanted to write romance.

I love love. Crave it. For me, genre doesn't matter as long as there is a beautifully epic love story woven into the storyline.

Which is exactly why I chose to write across so many genres. Paranormal, fantasy, contemporary, suspense...no matter which of my books you choose you always know what you're getting: a love story for the ages.

Serenity and Sutton ♡

This book was definitely my favorite of the trilogy 😍 Serenity and Sutton are so cute together and the extended Epilogue was everything ♡
Also love the little appearance from our friendly neighborhood Reaper after meeting him in Raffertys story.

The arrival of Steven and Allison puts more strain on the town especially when they refuse to leave but Steven and Serenity have always been close and he refuses to leave his sister or the crazy world he's just walked into.
He may be a homicide detective but supernatural is something even he'll have trouble wrapping his head around.
With the town divided and no idea who Myrtle is now inhabiting tension runs high and trusting the wrong person ends up turning deathly for Serenity. Refusing to let her go she must become something else in order to survive but doing so leaves her without the magic she'd just started getting used to having.
How will they ever defeat Myrtle now that she no longer has the magic to help stop her resetting the curse.
In the end help will come from the most unlikely of sources but will everyone survive or will lifting the curse come too little too late.

This is this third book in this fun and fast series (so read the other two first)!

Book 3 picks up right where book 2 left off which is such a relief as it was a massive cliffhanger! This is an easy read and has the same level of wit as the other two. The quick banter and vivid imagery makes it easy to feel like you are there with the characters. Twist and turns are around every corner and it doesn’t take long to reach the end. Just what I would expect from the authors!.

Reread on Audible 🎧 Audible Review:

I read this trilogy once, and now I’m listening to it. Savannah Rivers does an AMAZING job narrating it and really bringing it to life!!

I didn’t want to leave Serenity and Sutton, but they needed their HEA, and they got it!! So many of the characters were so likable and a few not so much, but either way they were wonderfully brought to life for this FANTASTIC and ORIGINAL storyline that made a wonderful escape from life for a while.

I loved this trilogy! Sutton and Serenity are such a kick-a$$, amazing couple!!

There are a few things that I wish had ended differently, but overall it was a fantastic feel-good ending!!

Mated by Midnight trilogy comes to an end with Midnight Bound. This book had its fair share of jaw-dropping moments and wild magic. The drama level seems to always be on ten when you combine Serenity Kelis and Midnight Falls.

I like Serenity. I love her snark, she has a good sense of humor, she's stubborn (or determined, depends on the situation) and she cares about people. However, girl seems to not learn from her mistakes, Ser makes another bad decision in this one.

At least she has good taste in men, now. I said it once and I'll say it again, Sutton Hargrave is sin on two legs. It's not just attraction between him and Ser, Sutton loves her, respects her, and is willing to protect her against anything, and that got tested a lot in this book. He's most definitely added to the book boyfriend list.

I absolutely love that Serenity's big brother, Steven, and her best friend Allison have shown up, becoming a major part of the story. Sure them being in Midnight Falls does make things fairly complicated and Steven was kind of annoying at times but Serenity needed more backup and something familiar to help ground her. I adore Steven's and Ser's relationship, they're very close, and he would do anything for her. Allison proved the ear to listen, a friend that knows her, to lean on and help evaluate some of the crazy.

So it looks like a couple of things that I guessed about turned out to be right. The backstory behind it made a lot of sense but once again Myrtle has proven just how batshit she really is. We finally learn who Myrtle has possessed this time around and if you put the pieces together then it's obvious, I shouldn't have second guessed myself. Well, Myrtle has leveled up in this one and I hate to say it but Myrtle is a bad bitxh she is freaking powerful and bad crap goes down. Worse than trapping souls, blocking shifts, and zombies. Myrtle is about to go nuclear and help comes from a couple of unlikely sources.

What an excellent conclusion. The plot twists (because there were a few) were just unbelievable. The curse and the Augustus witches has always been a nightmare but towards the end, it's a frecking horror show. By the last chapter my heart was aching and I was tearing up. However, Heather and Jessica more than made up for it with the best freaking epilogue ever. Midnight Bound was a fantastic ending to a fantastic series. I'm hoping Jessica and Heather have more future projects in the works.

And I’m crying…

How absolutely, devastatingly, beautifully Amazing! Ok so this one is getting a real review, not just the subtitles. This was the finale of the series and man was it a whopper. First, be prepared for a LOT of emotions. The good, the bad, the ugly, the devastation, the hope.

Serenity started out with good intentions and almost cost herself and everyone else everything. Turns out, bad choices can make for good outcomes. I love that serenity seems so real. She has flaws and negative emotions and feels things. It makes her relatable which is awesome!

Sutton. Oh man, this poor dude. I just wanted the good to come for him since the middle of book 1. It took until the last chapter. And even then, there’s still so much loss, and hurt, but love can conquer. He’s got his flaws and his own portions of insecurities that he seems to be working through quite nicely.

Let’s talk side kicks- Steven, Allison, Jolene, phineas, he’ll even Victoria, lance and Tabitha. Without them, we wouldn’t have gotten that ending, which was to die for. Lemme just cheer again for a few minutes!!

I need to give serious credits to these two ladies. Their writing was flawless. Usually, I can tell little differences between which is the “main writer”. This whole series was done so well and boy did it keep me on my toes. I love when there’s more than one element. Sure there’s romance, but the mystery and the intrigue, and that feeling that you just have to have the ending makes it all worth it. It was magical- pun intended. And to top it off- these two ladies are gunna do it again and I CANNOT express how stupidly excited I am about that!!! Well done ladies, well done!! I haven’t had much time for my blog in a long hot minute, but I’d give this one that rare 6 PAWS! Guess I’ll have to boot that back up, because this one definitely deserves the recognition!

⚠️⚠️FULL SERIES REVIEW⚠️⚠️

Soooo not my favorite supernatural series on the market by far. It was kinda slow, a little blah, and mostly predictable. Serenity is a minor badass to my typical kick ass warrior breed of heroine. The only thing I can give this series is that it has an accurate description of chess in the first book, sooo if you wanna learn to play chess…ummmm try and find that scene? I can go back and find it and add it to this review, but I really do just want to move on rn and find something a little more my speed. If your just starting out on the supernatural romance reading train…I guess this is a good first stop but my train went over the cliff of epic supernatural romance a while ago so this was kind of boring for me. Don’t let the fact that I read the three books on the span of two days fool you, was not falling over myself to finish, it just happened I was bored.

I will leave a rec for any who want a much more scintillating, pulse pounding, stay up all night to read 1,500 pages in 48 hours series (because yes it happened), check out Hannah McBride’s Blackwater Pack series which begins with Sanctum!

Looking for a HEA . . .

This was a wonderful conclusion to the series, and I think the best one of the three books. Suspense, twists and turns, and lots of excitement to enjoy from start to finish. Would Sutton Hargrave and Serenity Kellis get the happy ending they have been moving toward since the first time they met? Because each of them will sacrifice everything for the other, and that sounds like a whole lot of love right there!

This series was really well-written, keeping the reader alert and responsive to the subtle changes that signal some significance to what we are seeing and hearing. The characters we met are likable. And there were so many secrets to discover along the way. Each book took us on a delightful journey to see if our heroes get their HEA in the end… so grab your copy and find out!

This book is such an extremely fun read. I loved it so much. Sutton and Serenity are an awesome couple together. I loved their chemistry and how they were there for each other. Their banter is super fun. I love that Sutton has much sarcasm as Serenity and when they argue it is extremely fun. The world building in this book is really fun. I like how it is unique take on the packs and wolves. There isn't any cliches and you just have a fun ride. The pacing of the book is also great. I love that it doesn't suffer from the typical problems a trilogy normally would. Instead, it expands the world and also gives enough answers to be satisfied. The action in this book is also amazing. I just enjoyed all the fight scenes. it is really fun. In summary, this book is a fun read. Go check it out.

Serenity started out chasing a story so she could have the job position she's worked so hard for, but instead, she's trapped in a community with no escape unless she can figure out how to save the man she's learned to love and the community that is trapped right along with her.

Serenity has a strength and determination I love to read in a heroine. I was amazed at her deductive reasoning in the midst of the difficult tasks set before her. And Sutton is the sexy bad boy who is the reason the community is stuck in the limbo it's enduring.

I loved the way the story was told, and this is the perfect ending to a phenomenal tale. I hope this pair works together again because their writing complements each other. It was an awesome adventure.

happy ending-

-but such a depressing climax! I didn’t think the author would do it but they did it. They did the thing.

This was good. I anticipated a lot of things and I was practically riding the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe to drop the whole time. I think it’s a little annoying that Serenity always has to tell people she’ll sock them if they lie to her “again”. Spoiler: there was no socking. Just more lying.

It’s sad what happened to the pack over the century but it feels like they saw a lot more in this one visit of Ser’s and I still kinda feel sad about the way it just ended for those who… uh, saw the end.

I love her brothers. Her connection to them. It feels like everyone had their own little story.

I fast forwarded through this book to see how it ends. Badly. So with the help of Yvette the incorporeal witch they manage to trap the immortal Myrtle in her own grimoire (think genie in a bottle) but at the cost of more werewolf lives, including Phineas, Cara and Mable the librarian, my 3 favorite werewolves. And of course Serenity has to be turned into a werewolf to save her life. And Serenity turns out to be Myrtle’s great-great-great niece from Myrtle’s brother who married a mortal, so I got that right too.

But hey, she, Sutton, her best friend and her brother Steven live, so who cares about collateral damage? And the latter 2 become a couple and ultimately get married, so I guess it’s 2 HEA’s.

It's been a while coming, however, the conclusion to Sutton's and Serenity's story was well worth the wait! There are so many twists and turns to the plot that it keeps you guessing to the very end! What is going to happen next? Will Serenity and Sutton be together in the end or will Myrtle win after all? Will the towns people accept Serenity or band against her? There is so much going on, it will keep you glued to the pages to find out what is going to happen next? Will an HEA ever happen?? Keep reading to the exciting conclusion!.

Midnight Bound, the final installment in Jessica Wayne and Heather Hildebrand's Mated by Midnight series, takes us on a rollercoaster ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The storyline is fast-paced and very well written, filled with magic and mayhem, twists and turns, adventure, drama, intrigue and subterfuge. The characters are well developed and engaging. You feel as if you are right in the middle of the action with them. Overall, a brilliant conclusion that tied up all of the loose ends from a fantastic series by two very talented authors!

This was the worst book I've ever read. Dumb, pointless, ridiculous. The heroine never did anything not even with her powers and neither as a wolf. Then her magic is taken and someone else defeats the villian, but she recovers her magic after everything gets resolved. Seriously? She never got anything right and every plans backfires all the time. Since book 2 there were a lot of issues and in this one everything got worse. The reason for the witch cursing the town is stupid and childish. I can't believe I wasted so much time in the trilogy, I don't understand why this has a ton of 5 star reviews.
Oh, and every person at the town dies at the end except like 2 people, her friend Allison, the annoying brother, and mate.

Midnight Bound is a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats.
Such an engaging plot!! Serenity keeps us on our toes in this installment and I don't know how Sutton doesn't lose his temper. There were so many swoony lines. Gosh I love Sutton.

The story is narrated by Savannah Rivers, adds an extra layer of depth to the story. Rivers' engaging performance brings the characters to life, capturing their emotions and personalities.
Listening to Midnight Bound narrated by Savannah Rivers truly immerses the audience in the captivating world Midnight Falls!

This book is a must-read for fans of urban fantasy and supernatural adventures.

This ending to the trilogy had all I ever wanted. Love, family, magic, wolves, feelings (oh so many feeling while I was on the stationary bike), and happily ever after!!

Come read to find out how everything works out for Ser and Sutton. Do they beat the evil witch? What happens with the curse? How many more innocents can be lost in what feels like a battle that never can be won??

You will not regret a minute of this book. If you haven't read book 1 and 2, you NEED to do that first.

Midnight bound is the third book in the mated by midnight series by Jessica wayne and Heather Hildebrand and it was absolutely amazing. So much happens in this book and I was hooked from the very beginning. Serenity goes through so much and she is lucky she has a mate like Sutton by her side. There were parts of the book that made me want to scream but also I fell more in love with the characters over all. This book has all the emotions happiness, sadness, steam. You need to read this series if you haven't already.

Alright, Y’all give them all the stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was so involved I read all 3 in one day, that’s not normally something I can do but I just HAD to know. Yes was their questions that’s needed to be asked as I read & did something things just make you roll your eye, yes. That didn’t take away from the story by any means! It’s was great to read and I absolutely loved it. I’ve purchased the series and will definitely read it again when I’m in a slum….. read it you won’t be disappointed!!!!!!

Midnight Bound is a satisfying end to the Mated by Midnight series. Book 3 is full of twists and the story catches you up and before you realize it your at the end.

This series is full of action, loyalty, betrayal, steamy encounters, especially in this book, banter, hate and love. There is one scene is particular that is my favorite of the whole series. You'll know what I mean when you read it (I know thanks for nothing - LOL).

Imaginative, suspenseful, intriguing, engaging and entertaining, this book was a wonderful find. I loved the characters who were likable and I thought they became more fascinating as the story progressed. I loved their interactions which were beautifully written and heartfelt. The darkness that surrounds them added intensity to a already enjoyable read. Nicely done.

A Perfect Trilogy

This is the last book in a trilogy and you absolutely need to read them in order.

This was an absolutely fantastic trilogy. Love, mystery, action, supernatural, past, present; these books have it all.

The character development was very well done and believable and the ending is happier than a reader could have hoped, despite the death toll. I look forward to the other books these authors have to offer.

I have never read a series so fast! I could not put this book down and it was such an absolutely amazing ending to an awesome trilogy. I LOVED Serenity and Sutton. There were so many ups, downs and sideways events in this final story. Extremely addicting and un-put-downable. I cannot recommend this series enough as a thoroughly entertaining roller coaster of events!

What a ride this was!

Boy, Myrtle sure is tough and like a dog with a bone! Sutton and Serenity are quite the team, with a little help from the pack and other friends. The battle was a doozy! Some surprises came in this one, and so glad I got to visit Midnight and all its inhabitants.

This was everything I was hoping for in an ending and more. Heather and Jessica out did theirselves in this book. This book wrapped up everything that had questions lingering. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, you are completely caught off guard. I couldn’t put this book down once I started it. If I could give it more stars I would!!
