SHE TRUSTED THE WRONG PERSON.

Four deaths, most likely tied to arsenic-tainted water, leave the town of Shadow Ridge frantic for answers before someone else dies. But that isn’t the only nightmare Tess McQuaid is facing. She has proof someone attempted to cover up a murder as another arsenic death.

HER LIFE DEPENDS ON FINDING OUT THE TRUTH.

Deputy Kellan Gray is heading to Shadow Ridge when he encounters Tess, running for her life. Pursued by a killer in the isolated west Texas desert, can he keep her safe while trying to stop the man determined to silence her?

Welcome to Shadow Ridge, where LONGMIRE meets JERICHO.

From USA Today Best-selling author Lisa Harris comes an epic new series where the survival of Shadow Ridge depends on learning how to fight crime all over again.

In today’s world, law enforcement agencies across the country rely on forensic tools, DNA testing, and crime labs. But what if that technology was suddenly no longer available? No one in the small, west Texas town of Shadow Ridge knows what took down the power grid, or when it’s going to be back up, but everyone knows exactly where they were the moment it went down. And now, with no electricity, no internet, and no modern technology, the men and women responsible for keeping the town safe are going to have to learn how to fight crime all over again.

Frequency by Lisa Harris is the fourth book in the Fallout Series. (I think fourth?) This series is based in Texas and features the law keeping family the Mcquaid's. This particular book follows the younger sister, Tess who is an aspiring artist and her deputy friend Kellan Gray. This is a romantic thriller that deals with the electric magnetic field going out and causing problems nationwide. How did it go out and who is to blame? Why would anyone want to cause such horror? These are questions that I've wondered about. I will keep reading the series to find out.
*I was given a copy of this book by the author and this is my honest opinion.

Great series about what life would be like if all modern conveniences were gone.

Tess was an art student at college when the power grid went down. She's helped her law enforcement brothers with a couple of cases by sketching villains or crime scenes, but that's not her calling. Tess discovers a befriended recluse deceased and her world spirals south quickly.

Kellan from a neighboring town heads to Shadow Ridge for assistance with a case he's working on.

Another engaging novel in the series. The cliffhanger ending sets up readers for book four.

I’ve read all of the books in this series, but Frequency is my favorite so far. I really liked the characters in this one. Tess McQuaid had just the right amount of sensitivity and spunk to make her a character you could cheer on when mayhem hit. Kellan Gray was the perfect hero. He had integrity as well as smarts, and his love of Tess was so tender. And, of course, we see how the previous characters are progressing in their romances, which was nice. There are two crimes in this book and both are things that definitely could happen. Once again there are tips you can learn from on how to survive a catastrophe like this. And Harris has done an exceptional job of showing how people can come together to survive or they can focus on themselves and go to any length to ensure their own survival. Frequency was a fast read. Once I started, I didn’t want to stop until I’d finished it. It’s a five star in my book. I received an ARC for review, but I did purchase the paperback.

The author's tagline for this series is 'Longmire meets Jericho' and that sums it up nicely. The Dystopian aspects make the suspense that much edgier and add a creepy undertone to each story. This is book three and we still don't know exactly why the power grid went down and what's being done to fix it. The law enforcement in Shadow Ridge (many of them McQuaids) have enough on their plate keeping the peace and protecting their town from marauding bandits.

'Frequency' has a survivor vibe to it since Kellan and Tessa are caught out in a storm as they dodge a killer...or killers. Lots of tension and action with a few unexpected twists that took my breath away. The romance is lighter in this book, but it's there and ends on a hopeful note.

The author also provides a teaser for the fourth book, 'Deception', and phew...but it can't come out fast enough for me! There are six books and a novella so 'Frequency' falls right in the middle of the series. I definitely think you will get more out of each story if you read them in order.

The third book in the Fallout Series is a stunner, with action on every page, romance blooming and the people of Shadow Ridge still surviving the unthinkable. The focal character in this book is Tess McQuaid, the youngest daughter of former sheriff Garrett McQuaid. Tess is a young woman with the heart of an artist and the courage of a mama tiger. She wants to find truth and justice and is willing to make sacrifices to pursue it. When her life is disrupted by unexpected danger, she is rescued by Deputy Kellen Grey and together they have to survive a winter storm and killers chasing them. The plot is fast-paced and riveting while the characters are realistically vulnerable as well as strong, in a way that complements each other. I love the family dynamics of the McQuaid family and have enjoyed meeting them in each of the books of the series. This book can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the prequel as well as the first and second books. I’m sure that you will not want to put them down and, just like me, you will be ready for the next book as soon as your finish this one. The genre is Christian romantic suspense, with plenty of action but nothing objectionable or too intense in it.

With writing a series, there is always the added pressure of having a next book as good as the first. This third book was the best yet for me. Building on the intrigue and action from book one and two with the grid down and murders and human traffickers running around, Frequency added to that suspense.

The story captivated me from the start, and if I had the time, I would have read this in one sitting.

There were times where I felt I was so invested in the story, that I felt that something was off, mistrusted a character or two, and felt the action and events were realistic, given the backstory of the grid being down.

The chemistry between Kellan and Tess developed well and I loved the ending and can't wait for book 4.

Loving this series and recommended to fans of romantic suspense and fast paced action.

I LOVE this unique "off the grid" Fallout series. Frequency is my favorite so far! Tess McQuaid would rather be at college in her art classes than living the new normal life which is completely different due to the power grid being down. Fortunately for the town and rather unfortunately for her, she is putting her artistic skills to use drawing crime scenes. When she finds her neighbor dead, questions arise. Soon she is running for her life. She is found drugged and sleeping by the sweet and handsome deputy from a different town a few hours away, Kellan Gray, but they are not out of danger yet. Author Lisa Harris has lived off the grid which makes this story even more interesting. People have a choice to work together to survive or hunker down by themselves. I highly recommend the entire Fallout series, especially Frequency, I could not stop turning pages!

Frequency is a compelling story with a different lifestyle than we are used to, no power, electricity, communications, news, or transportation, along with murder, mystery, and romance. I highly recommend it!

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an early copy of Frequency. All opinions are my own.
I can't wait to get a copy of Frequency for my keeper shelf!

Frequency is the third book in the extremely intense Fallout Series. It is now nearly one year since a major power grid went down, and people are struggling to survive. Crime is on the increase as people become ever more desperate. Tess McQuaid stops to check on an elderly citizen only to find him dead and suddenly her life is in danger. She does manage to escape and runs into Deputy Kellan Gray who is on a mission but is determined to get her back to her home; however, that feat is going to be extremely difficult as soon they become victims of a rogue agent who pretended to befriend them. Kellan and Tess are very drawn to each other, but can love develop and thrive, or even survive, in such difficult circumstances?

This is a very intense, thought-provoking book with fascinating characters and story plot. I highly recommend it. I received an ARC; the opinions expressed are strictly my own.

Lisa Harris has written another excellent book in her Fallout Series! Frequency is an edge of your seat, page turning, don’t want to put it down Christian Romantic Suspense. Tess McQuaid runs into trouble in Shadow Ridge. Deputy Kellan Gray receives important information that needs to be shared. Together they have to work hard to survive the difficulties of surviving the desert and facing down the enemy. They will need all their wits about them to succeed at their quest. This book is well balanced with suspense, fear, hope and faith! I highly recommend it.
I received an ARC of Frequency with no requirement for a review.

This series just keeps getting better and better! The off the grid saga continues with Tess running for her life as she is running from whoever is after her. When her neighbor is killed, she finds herself trying to find out the truth as she reunites with Kellan, a deputy she met in a recent case. I could not the book down. It is such an eye opening series and I can't wait to see how it will end!

It is Day 352 of the "Quake," as people are calling it, and the town of Shadow Ridge is dealing with what they believe to be arsenic poisoning of several citizens. Tess McQuaid comes across the body of an elderly neighbor and finds evidence he was looking into the deaths. Before she can tell anyone, Tess is led into the West Texas desert and left to die.

Deputy Kellan Gray has come across information on who is behind the event. He is sent to Shadow Ridge to inform the McQuaid brothers. On his way there, Kellan finds Tess and sets out to get her safely home despite someone pursuing both of them.

Frequency, the third book in the Fallout series, continues the story of the McQuaid family - their lives, losses, and loves. Tess and Kellan's romance is a sweet and honorable addition. Lisa Harris also includes a message about where God is when hard things happen.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review. I also received a paperback edition.

As we've come to expect in this series, this story spotlights another one of the McQuaid family, daughter Tess, as she tackles the uncertainties of the new world after The Quake. We're now into the second year of the grid being down and Tess is championing a new Water filtration system that helps remove impurities such as arsenic which is becoming more prevalent leading to people dying from poisoning.

She drops into her neighbour, the elderly Walter, only to find him dead. And seemingly from arsenic poisoning even though he'd been using the new filtering system. The Mayor arrives unannounced and all of a sudden Tess's life gets turned upside down. She wakes a day later to find herself lost out in the desert.

Out of seemingly nowhere, Von Horn Deputy Kellan Gray, discovers disorientated Tess. He's on his way to Shadow Ridge to report on 3 missing FBI agents who were in possession of some valuable intel: information on who is behind The Quake.

Tess and Kellan get shot at, escaping with their lives, stuck out the middle of the desert, a winter storm approaching. This forces them together and their mutual attraction becomes apparent and we begin to wonder if this is the beginning of a lovely romance.

The action continues as is the way of a Harris novel as the mysteries surrounding the missing intel gets tracked down. As does the simmering feelings Tess and Kellan have for each other. It's a lovely read.

Like 'Hunted' the story wraps up a little too quickly and Harris sets us up for the next instalment, 'Deception', to keep us guessing what is ahead for the McQuaid family.

The aftereffect of the Quake continues. The good people of Shadow Ridge are treading carefully as they try to maneuver their way through unknown territory. None of them were alive before electricity, technology, and all the many modern conveniences which had made life easier. The McQuaid family is doing its best to keep law and order and to be good neighbors. The siblings and their father still struggle with the loss of their mother but are gradually growing beyond the grief. Tess, the youngest, had barely gotten started in art school, a lifelong dream, but that ended when the grid went down. Her art has become drawing sketches of crime scenes for her brothers who have taken over as police officers after a shooting took their father out of commission. The age-old story of good versus evil plays out every day as the criminal element seems to gain even more ground while the police are seeking to learn the old ways of doing things after being so accustomed to modern technology. They must be on the alert every minute because of the crime wave. If all of that is not enough, now several people around the town have died due to what appears to be arsenic poisoning from the water supply. I have always enjoyed a good western story. This one has all of the best elements with action, intrigue, suspense, romance, and faith in God. Then there is the added dimension already mentioned about the loss of so many modern inventions that have failed because of the Quake. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

"I'm going to get you home safe, I promise."

But could he? . . . promise, that is, "for they might end up going from one dangerous situation straight into another".

Nothing is easy in the small Texas town of Shadow Ridge. Persevering through day after day without electricity, not knowing how far-reaching the grid failure had reached, struggling to keep order out of chaos, and now . . . . arsenic-tainted water?

Wanting concrete answers, Tess McQuaid returns to the home of an elderly resident with whom she had formed a friendship. After finding him deceased the prior day, she was curious to see if there was more to the story than what appeared on the surface. Instead of finding answers to her questions, Tess ends up running for her life and straight into the path of Van Horn Deputy Kellan Gray. Thank goodness! . . . . or goodness gracious, what do they do now?!

Such interesting twists and turns! With an explanation of loss . . . . "loss wasn't an equation to be solved. It was a crying out for answers and a physical heaviness against her chest that kept up her up at night when all she wanted to do was escape reality. Kellan understood that pain. God understood that pain".

Welcome back to Shadow Ridge!

Great Series

The Fallout Series by Lisa Harris is a great series. Imagine suddenly losing all the modern technology we take for granted every day. No electricity, no automobiles, no internet! Each day is a struggle to survive. Now what if you were in Law Enforcement and you don't have access to the Modern Forensic Equipment but you still have to protect and serve your small Texas town!

Lisa introduces us to some great characters in each book of the series. Each character has to deal with the lose of family members, the fear of not knowing when or if the technology will return, and dealing with the evil that still exist in the world around them. You can see your own reflection in the struggle to hold on to their faith and trust in GOD during this turbulent time.

If you are looking for a story that will grip you from the first page then I recommend the Fallout Series by Lisa Harris!

I have enjoyed all the books so far in the Fallout series, but Frequency is definitely my favorite so far. I was excited when I found out that this story was going to center around Tess, the youngest daughter of the McQuaid clan. Tess's sensitive artistic side was a refreshing change from the other books which have centered around her brothers. Kellan was a perfect match for Tess with his thoughtful nature and his willingness to risk his life to protect Tess. You'll have to read the book to find out why they were in danger.

In this story, it is almost a year since the "quake". Readers do get a little insight into possibly what is going on, but in true Lisa Harris fashion she left me with more questions I need answers to ummm yesterday! The whole idea of these stories taking place with the power grid down is unique enough, but I also really like the community works together to survive these unprecedented situations.

I really enjoyed updates on the couples from the other books as well. I am looking forward to Deception releasing later this year.

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Another great installment to this series! Fast paced and full of danger, suspense, and romance keeping the reader engaged from beginning to end. This series really makes you stop to think what would happen to our country if the grid actually went down taking all our modern conveniences of technology, electricity, etc.

Tess is the youngest of the McQuaid family and has been thrust into helping her brothers by sketching crime scenes after getting stranded at home while on break from art school after the Quake happened. She figures out the recent arsenic poisoning are actually murder cover-ups and finds herself fighting to stay alive.

Deputy Kellan Gray from neighboring Van Horn is in his way to Shadow Ridge when he stumbles upon Tess. Together, they must figure out a way to stay alive and get back to Shadow Ridge.

This is a great series you cannot go wrong with reading! Looking forward to reading Sam’s story!

Book 3 in the Fallout series focuses on Tess McQuaid. Before the Quake and the grid going down Tess was a college student majoring in art. Since the world changed Tess has been thrown in to assisting her law enforcement brothers with solving crimes and protecting the town - the furthest thing from her wishlist for her life.
Tess is unexpectedly teamed up with Kellan Gray outside of town when he stumbles upon her after and attempt was made on her life.
I am really enjoying this series. Every installment leaves me ready for the release of the next one. More and more details are revealed about what’s happening and what caused the Quake. Just enough of a glimpse is given to get the reader ready for what’s next.
I was given an ARC eBook from the author. All opinions are my own.

Oh My Goodness! I have really enjoyed every single bit of this series. It is such a unique premise, nothing I've read before. This book is no exception. The story is just as quick, the characters just as interesting, and the plot just as fascinating.

In this fourth book of the series, Tess McQuaid just wants to go back to being an art student and not needing to use her talent for her law enforcement brothers, by sketching crime scenes. However, when she finds her elderly friend dead, she'll need to put more than just her art abilities into practice. I really enjoyed Tess and Kellen's friendship a lot. They're both attracted to the other, but know that with the way the world is, they need to take things slow. I appreciated how they treat one another and that the focus is on building their friendship, while not forgetting the underlying attraction. It's very well written. Looking forward to what comes next!

Ooooh things are getting revealed!! There is finally some information on what happened and the scope of it. After almost a year, answers are starting to trickle in but creating more questions too.

Kellan and Tess really stepped into a hornets nest. That was intense! I thought it was so interesting how both of them picked up on small things that seemed off to apprehend the bad guys.

Kellan has the same thoughts about God as our Heavenly Father than I do! What’s crazy is how we come to those questions is completely different.

There’s finally some hope for the future and some steps back to being a town again.

Deputies Kellan Gray and Miles Porter rescue a man who has been shot. They discover the man, Mac, is with the FBI. He and the other agents were ambushed. The deputies discover the power outage was deliberately caused by an underground multi-national group, who call themselves “The Realm." All of America, Canada and Mexico are also affected. Meanwhile, the town is dealing with arsenic-tainted water that has killed four people. Tess McQuaid realizes someone has attempted to cover up a murder, and now they are after her.
This book has criminal activity, suspense, romance, and hope. It was interesting from beginning to end.

Can't read fast enough!

Lisa Harris keeps the suspense moving in this third book in the series "Fallout", in which the electrical grid has gone down, continent wide, under the instigation of The Realm, domestic terrorists bent on changing the system of government. In small west Texas town Shadow Ridge, people are learning to "make do" with what they have, yet some would rather steal & kill than work. I only wish we would find Chase! Excellent series, and I'm now reading the prequel, "The Longest Day". Love everything Lisa has written!

We meet Kellan again and it is about time Tess find some happiness! But what a rigorous road filled with twists and turns they had to navigate to find their happiness! But I must tell you if you love suspense romance with a faith twist you just cannot miss this book!! I cannot wait for the next installment!

A great of quick clean story

I enjoyed this light read. The writing style is engaging and the storyline multilayered and very interesting. Not much fillers. It can be a little flat at times especially when dealing with the bad guys. I’m still waiting to see if one of them actually get hurt, at least as much as the good guys. But other than that it’s a nice fun read!

I didn’t love this one as much as I loved the first book. The plot felt a little rushed, and the relationship felt kind of insta-lovey. That being said, it was still entertaining, so it gets a solid three stars from me.
