Carolyn Keene is a writer pen name that was used by many different people- both men and women- over the years. The company that was the creator of the Nancy Drew series, the Stratemeyer Syndicate, hired a variety of writers. For Nancy Drew, the writers used the pseudonym Carolyn Keene to assure anonymity of the creator.

Edna and Harriet Stratemeyer inherited the company from their father Edward Stratemeyer. Edna contributed 10 plot outlines before passing the reins to her sister Harriet. It was Mildred Benson (aka: Mildred A. Wirt), who breathed such a feisty spirit into Nancy's character. Mildred wrote 23 of the original 30 Nancy Drew Mystery Stories®, including the first three. It was her characterization that helped make Nancy an instant hit. The Stratemeyer Syndicate's devotion to the series over the years under the reins of Harriet Stratemeyer Adams helped to keep the series alive and on store shelves for each succeeding generation of girls and boys. In 1959, Harriet, along with several writers, began a 25-year project to revise the earlier Carolyn Keene novels. The Nancy Drew books were condensed, racial stereotypes were removed, and the language was updated. In a few cases, outdated plots were completely rewritten.

Other writers of Nancy Drew volumes include Harriet herself, she wrote most of the series after Mildred quit writing for the Syndicate and in 1959 began a revision of the first 34 texts. The role of the writer of "Carolyn Keene" passed temporarily to Walter Karig who wrote three novels during the Great Depression. Also contributing to Nancy Drew's prolific existence were Leslie McFarlane, James Duncan Lawrence, Nancy Axelrod, Priscilla Doll, Charles Strong, Alma Sasse, Wilhelmina Rankin, George Waller Jr., and Margaret Scherf.

This is one of my least favorites of the series. The book follows the kids as they are helping one of the moms at a kids birthday party. It's a pirate/ treasure hunt party and the treasure gets stolen. There's a huge lizard in the area (but its actually just a costume) and we are trying to figure out whodunnit. This one was just out there and too over the top.

I’ve read Treasure Trouble Nancy Drew and Clue Crew by Carolyn Kenne. This book is about Nancy and her friends Bess and George were headed to baranacle beach for pirate themed birthday party. At the party there were few treasure chest filled with some party flavours. Suddenly it disappeared before the playtime is over. So with help of using a mystery treasure map the clue crew needs to reclaim to find the missing loot before the party gets ruined. In double take the clue crew has a competition which one of their classmates has to start a rival sleuthing club. Can Nancy and her friends solve the latest cases before the phony detectives do. Although in the book I liked the character Nancy because she has positive mind since she has full of knowledge. Well I liked to read these particular books because there were interesting and fun mystery story books. However I would liked to recommend this book to an seven years old children those who liked to read books that are interesting and fun mystery books.

This is another fun mystery in the Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew series. We've been slowly working our way through the series and we like the characters. The mysteries are not scary and they aren't too difficult to solve; they often have a twist or two in the plot to keep us guessing, so I am actually somewhat impressed with the writing (especially for a short chapter book for young readers.) The illustrations are entertaining and help depict the action of the story.

This story has a pirate theme and a treasure chest mix-up. The story is not all that plausible, but it is entertaining. We enjoyed reading this story together.

This would be a great book for kids who are beginning to read chapter books. It is also a great introduction to the Nancy Drew characters for young kids, and it incorporates technology and things that are current to kids today. Cute book with an easy to follow mystery.
