am a big fan of Anna Jacobs writing as are my mum and my nana. Her books are sometimes set in the past but this is set in the present era mainly in Australia. Kirsty Miller loses her husband Mike in a tragic car accident and finds herself living with her brother Rod. Rod is not the easiest person to get along with as her lacks the social skills the converse with people and to understand the situations this is due to a communications disorder which affect his interpersonal skills. In her job as a librarian Kirsty befriends an elderly gentleman Edward James who is over from Australia but is dying of cancer. Her friendship with Edward causes a massive change in her life and a great opportunity for her to escape her brother’s hold over her and she finds herself the owner of a property in Australia along with some money.
Whilst in Australia Kirsty really develops as a person and she becomes a lot stronger through the book and determined to get what she wants and not to let some situations scare her. I loved the fact that although she is now very well of she still is down to earth and continues to show that she is a caring and friendly person.
There a sparks between Kirsty and Sam as Edward predicted in his letter to Kirsty on his death. However Sam is an abrupt painter who does not want to be seen as a charity case. Although he is head strong and determined not to like Kirsty he finds himself helping her on numerous occasions and begins to enjoy her company. His past life with his ex-wife and his high flying job is completely different to the lifestyle that he lives now and his daughter …. Tina finds this hard to accept.
The other characters of Penny and Franco are also lovely and I found myself wishing I could be part of their often bbq gatherings as they seemed lively and friendly and let’s face it who doesn’t want warm caring friends that are there for them at all times. Also the idea of the wine from the vineyard is always an added bonus!
Anna Jacobs’s books are worth looking at. Sometimes they are part of a series where the different characters are focused on in each book. This book isn’t though and is a one off that manages to cheer you up.
This is a gorgeous gem of a story. I guess it's a modern romance but that genre title doesn't offer up enough justice for Kirsty's Vineyard. It's actually a little slice of life via numerous compelling relationships. There is an obvious connection between Kirsty and Sam, which takes care of a very fine and gentle romance plot. But in Kirsty's Vineyard there is a web of platonic attachments and a few not as welcoming woven together.
The quaintest exchange of emotion exists between Kirsty and Ed. In fact there is a relationship focus between all the characters in the novel and Ed. It's the glue to bind this novel to the reader's heart. Plus there's another charmingly quaint relationship between these same characters and a small vineyard, Kirsty's Vineyard. It's the trigger to set the reader dreaming about a better future.
If I've confused anyone with the above answer you'll need to read Kirsty's Vineyard to understand the question when it will all make perfect sense. I guarantee your Kindle will remain in your hand until after the last page is lovingly absorbed and you'll sleep soundly the next few nights awash with pleasant thoughts. ---- Kirsty's Vineyard is a fine example of the best in modern women's fiction, five stars.
Great read about a woman aho receives a vineyard as an inheiritence, but must live in Australia for a year alone without her domineering brother in order to receive it. Many twists and turns in this romance drama make it a good read.
Really liked this book, it was a nice quick read. It was lovely to see Kirsty grow throughout the book and find herself. I loved the elendale series by this author also and i will read more in the future.
This was a lovely engaging story. The characters were well rounded and original, and the plot was enjoyable. The reason this only merits a 3 star rather than a 4 star review is simply the narration.
I listened to the audiobook, and I felt that the voice came across as too old for the main character, which put me off a little- I wish I had read it, I think I would have enjoyed it more.
An enjoyable story travelling from the UK to Australia as a chance meeting leads to a friendship that allows the heroine to accept the inheritance left to her and start a new life for herself in Australia.
Another beautiful read from Anna Jacobs, whatever she writes she cannot disappoint. I simply loved this book from beginning to end. It's a must read and definitely worth ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ plus.
Anna Jacob’s to me is one of my top 3 authors but i just couldn’t agree with this book something was missing and i just couldn’t get a connection with it to the point where i couldn’t even finish it - i have decided i may pick it up again at some point so i’ll throw it in my currently reading hopefully i can change my opinions!
I took a complete shot in the dark with this book..and it landed. I am blown away by this store. It’s beautiful and so well written. I truly enjoyed every single page, character, story line. It was everything I thought it would be and more. LOVE!!
