The sugar

They say love doesn’t cost a thing.
It does if you’re McKenzie, a broke college graduate looking for a little security. She’s ready to be bought and paid for. And it doesn’t hurt that she has no limits because that’s what these sugar daddy types want.

Thanks to some plotting with her best friend, she finds her money bag in the form of golf sensation Gage Remington.

She’ll give up her goods, but she won’t come cheap.

The daddy

When it comes to McKenzie St. James, Gage likes for her to make him come then go. With his millions, he doesn’t mind paying her for it. But it’s all starting to feel a little too real. Now he wants her to keep coming back.

It’s a slippery slope that somehow leads him to the altar.

He wasn’t looking for anything more than an arrangement, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Or is he getting more than what he bargained for?

This enemies-to-lovers romance has a real-life tragic event that some may find extremely hard to read.

Now when I began reading this book I really did not expect to love it as much as I did. And I can say this book definitely got me out of my reading slump. I’m also a slow reader so usually takes me a couple weeks to get through a book and this one I finished within like three days because it had me hooked on the edge. I loved every single scene, everything that are two main characters did for each other. I’m completely in love with McKenzie and Gage’s relationship. I’m definitely putting them as I one of my top favorite book couples because while they are both so messed up and did messed up things especially to each other but once they saw each other and found each other it was like two halves made a whole and it was so beautifully written and portrayed. I’m just in awe of how much I adored this book. Not to mention on how not only man characters but everyone literally made me crack up with their humor even when a character would be going through some very sad things, I could always count on someone to least bring some happiness or comedy. To be honest I just love McKenzie and she made this whole book for me, Just the fact that she acknowledges her mistakes and she just purely has love for Gage and how no matter what she always puts other people first and makes them happy. And then I just love that Gage is so protective and possessive of her and he worships the ground that she walks on and we love the groveling, we do love it here. But in summary overall read this book, like read it now. I mean it like read it now I’m obsessed. I’m gonna have a book hangover for the next week trying to get my life back together after reading this book.

Let me start by saying that the title of this book is so misleading because the relationship between the MCs is never about sugar daddy/sugar baby, it was mentioned just once as a joke but thats it.

There were a lot of bad things in this book, first we have that McKenzie and Gage enter in a relationship but actually it was all a set up made by McKenzie to do HORRIBLE things to Gage just for money, when she confessed she couldn’t “figure out” why he was so upset, like WTF!?! Then she finds out something about herself after the confession and tells him, he is still upset and angry about the revelation so he definitely lashes out, and she demands that he must do something and practically throws it to his face that he HAS to be part of it and then gets angry because she cannot “comprehend” why he is upset, she is so ENTITLED that I hated her from that moment on.

And Gage, yes I know he was played and humiliated, so I understand where he’s coming from but what he did to her is just as awful, he was always saying that she was such a bad person, and how could she even think of doing something like but, be he made a plan IMO way worse than her.

Dom/sub relationship was also mentioned but I don’t think it was represented in a good way because there was nothing about it, just one scene that lasted like half a page? So yeah, I think it was thrown in there just for throwing it there.

I know that I read an unedited version, but the writing style was bad, like everything was so rushed, and a lot of things happened in circles that the story never moved forward, this could’ve been like 10 chapter shorter, easy.

She was supposed to be there purely for his convenience, a guilty little pleasure, but McKenzie St. James is quickly becoming something else... something that he doesn't want to let go. Which is completely out of character for him, as he doesn't do love or relationships, never saw the need for them. But now he is starting to question his stance on that...

The romance these two have is anything but conventional, their both supposed to be a means to an end for one another, for McKenzie it's money and for Gage it's just a simple exchange. There were never supposed to be feelings involved, a relationship to build towards, it was a simple business arrangement, which worked for a while... then it didn't. Because somewhere along the way feelings entered the mix, a connection began to build, and love started to sneak it's way in too.

These two definitely didn't get the easy route to love, theirs's was messy, complicated, and filled with intense drama. They gave as get as they got, pushed each other's buttons at every turn, and really made the other fight for them. It was a frustrating journey at times, but all worth it in the end! I really enjoyed this first time read, it was captivating, steamy, and put a nice little squeeze on the heart! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

I have to be honest that I was very mixed about this book. When I started, i found it hard to continue as I really did not like McKenzie as she seemed so cold and calculating. And then I lost some respect for Gage as he turned out to be almost the same in some way. However, then the book pulled me in as feelings between Gage and McKenzie evolved past just steamy times and there was so much going on. There was heartbreak , a lot of tears and a feeling of sadness yet there was also an element of hope.

I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest review.

Sugar Daddy was about as far from "conventional" romance as you can get. McKenzie, with the help of her friend plots gets her sugar daddy Gage and for her it's money in the bag. Gage is not looking for his forever, so his "arrangement" with McKenzie works. But, neither count on the crazy chemistry and neither count on feelings becoming involved. All is well and both are happy, until feelings, the lies and the guilt are revealed. Now the rollercoaster ride that is Gage and McKenzie starts, and be warned you will cry a lot more than you will smile. The tables are turned, Gage is plotting against McKenzie, emotions and feelings are running high and just when everything looks like it's coming right it turns completly on its head. You will be turning pages to find out what happens.

In true Rebel Wild style, this story brings everything, humor and heat, deep emotional scenes. It checks off all my trope boxes: Lovers to Extreme Enemies to Lovers lol, Alpha, New Adult, Sports, Forced Proximity, Brooding Billionaire. The characters and the plot are amazing.

I’m obsessed with Gage and McKenzie and you will be too!

My emotions were all over the place with this one. There were moments I wanted to shake some sense into them and moments where my heart literally felt like it was breaking. Gage and McKenzie’s story was filled with secrets, lies, and lots of outside obstacles and influences. It’s also a reminder that communication is key in making any relationship work.

Sugar Daddy is my first book by Rebel Wild and I don't think I expected this book to be what it was. I went into this book thinking this book was going to be a sexy, fun read. Whatcha got was so much more. Gage and McKenzie are two different people from when this book start to when it ends. I must warn you that this book may trigger some because it does depict child loss in the form of a late term misc*rriage. This book had me going through an emotional wringer and I wouldn't change my experience for the world. I hope to read more of Rebel Wild's books in the future.

Sugar Daddy by Rebel Wild is the story of McKenzie and Gage. Gage is a well off man who has no issue getting the ladies and totally enjoys them. McKenzie is a struggling college student who happens to meet Gage and a Sugar Daddy Deal is struck but neither counted on their attraction turning into so much more. Enjoyed this book.

This emotional read had so many great things! Mackenzie a girl with brains and an attitude, Gage a man who has a way with the ladies. How Gage cares do her when she needs him to is just swoon worthy! 😍 So much could be solved and easier if these two just talked! The hurt that they put each other through… (Gages plan for hurt was worse though). They have such a toxic relationship sometimes with such great chemistry. But at other times it’s such great loving, caring and trusting relationship. Add some heartbreak and healing to their story and it’s an great book I can’t wait to other books from Rebel Wild.

In this book you meet Gage and McKenzie. McKenzie is a broke college student/ soon to be graduate. Gage is a businessman and famous golfer. When Gage and McKenzie meet there is an instant connection and they have crazy chemistry. They have a dysfunctional relationship because they don’t always communicate their feelings and jump to conclusions.

I loved this read and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Gage is a business man and loves the ladies. McKenzie was working at a hotel and putting herself through school. When these two meet it’s a instant connection and crazy chemistry. They have an extremely crazy dysfunctional relationship. Part of the dysfunction is not telling each other how they truly feel and a lot of jumping to conclusions but wow do these two test each other. There is definitely a lot of hurt going back and forth between the two. Of course you also have meddling family and friends. This was a quick emotional read with a great story about trust and love. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

I adored McKenzie & Gage and going on their journey. McKenzie & Gage’s journey was full of twists & turns and definitely not easy. It was all worth it in the end. I got swept away with these characters & I couldn’t help but root for them.

This was the first book that I read by Rebel Wild & it definitely won’t be the last.

I did not know what to expect from this book or this author because this is the first time I've read a book by the author. But McKenzie and Gage quickly got my attention. Though I can't say that about McKenzie's character especially after knowing it was all a plot to trap Gage. And I don't think she really redeems herself towards the end and I don't see how Gage could trust her again. I still enjoyed the story, but I think it could be better.

MC: McKenzie & Gage

Dual POV, interracial couple, sugar daddy, surprise pregnancy, military vet, PTSD, HEA

McKenzie, a college senior, meets Gage, a pro golfer, when he’s at her campus for an event. A week later, he happens to be staying at the hotel she works at. They start hooking up every time he’s in town. When she graduates, he invites her to move to LA to be closer to him, in a dom/sun relationship. Soon after, he asks her to be his girlfriend and she confesses that she first showed interest in him with the hopes of getting money from him. Things come crashing down. Fast forward two months and McKenzie finds out she’s pregnant with his child.
Overall I liked this book. But I think that McKenzie and Gage have a toxic relationship very early on. I felt like they just kept intentionally trying to hurt each other. I got really annoyed with them acting like that. They did grow as people and by the end, I liked them together but the path to getting to a semi healthy relationship was a long and dirty one.

Oh this book. I don’t even know what to say. When I first started it took a awhile to get into because I couldn’t really connect with the characters and the pace of the story but after about 50/60% it just clicked and I couldn’t put it down. It broke my heart. There are some triggering situations that some readers may not like or can not handle, and while I won’t give spoilers hopefully another review does if the author doesn’t give a clear trigger warning. It was a good story once I got into the grove of the writing and I did like the characters. It was hard to like them together for quite a bit but once I saw them working together I loved them together. This is my first book by this author and I do plan to read more. She was able to weave a beautiful, emotionally charged story. 4 stars #2OCCJD

This is my first read by this author, and I must say that I quite enjoyed the storyline and the characters. It is a slow burn romance between billionaire Gage and broke college graduate McKenzie. Their sizzling chemistry and strong connection are undeniable as they navigate the bumpy and messy road to their forever after. What starts out as a business arrangement turns into something more. These two flawed but likeable souls and the unique plot make for an interesting read. It is an emotional journey with drama, intrigue, trust, secrets, lies, sweetness, frustrating moments, twists and turns, along with engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. Seriously entertaining with a happy ending.

I wasn't sure about this one for awhile but McKenzie and Gage grew on me. These two are hot messes and what started as a one time quickly turns into more. Gage is definitely more anti relationship but hes also the one who keeps wanting more. These two and there no drama, no mess quickly becomes so much more. There relationship quickly becomes everything it wasnt supposed to be and these break each other. I will say the ending was a little sad but super sweet.

Sugar Daddy

Gage and McKenzie story was well written, Dom falling in love with a recent college grad. From that point on the deceit, love, heartache, heartbreak and back stabbing begins. Falling in love was never supposed to happen between them, but you can’t control your emotions. This book had me laughing in some chapters and crying in others. Highly recommend this book. In the end it all comes together for the couple!

Okay, Gage isn't the greatest guy in the world, but… he seems to be falling for McKenzie!

McKenzie, though she exceled in school, seems to want a "Sugar Daddy!"

This one will have you pondering whether an HEA can be had.

One of my favorite scenes is McKenzie texting Gage after her college graduate, celebration night! LOL

Great banter.
Emotional (VERY EMOTIONAL)!
A great escape!

My first Rebel Wild novel, no way my last!

This book had me hooked from the very beginning and I could not put the book down.

This relationship between Gage and McKenzie is messy and beautiful, they are two halves to each other whole. This book will make you swoon and laugh while also showing character improvement. The groveling is top-notch between these two and Gage puts a whole new meaning to protective and possessive when it comes to McKenzie.

AMAZING!!!
This is one of the best books I've read I've read & if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Gage & McKenzie's story was funny, sassy, steamy but also absoluting heartbreaking that a few times I had to stop reading to calm myself down & recover.
I can't recommend this book enough but it should come with a warning to have the tissues ready.

McKenzie St. James was in her final year as student when she met successful pro-golfer Gage Remington on campus. They're instantly attracted to each other and when chance presents itself to them he is determined to have her and get her out of his system, one encounter was never going to be enough.

Gage keeps returning to McKenzie he wants her but is it for a purely physical relationship? Or is it something more that keeps attracting him? When he finds out she plans on returning to her home state after graduation with no solid plan he comes up with a plan of his own to move her to California to be with him and he will take care of her.

Kenzie doesn't have much waiting for her back home and she takes up Gage's offer... but is it all too good to be true? Gage gives her all that she expects, an apartment, a car, designer clothing, and a job... what more could a girl want? But then it all falls to pieces when Gage finds out the truth behind their relationship, her motives weren't genuine, and now she's pregnant with his child.

This time it's going to be his way or nothing. He will take care of her and his child will be his when she gives birth. His plan makes sense to him but is it too much especially when the stress causes problems with their unborn child.

-----------------------

I hated the start of this book. I hated the heroine. She grated on my nerves, but by the end of the book I was rooting for her. The first third of this story irked me but it laid the foundation for the rest of the tale and by the end I wanted more Gage and Kenzie. Well worth the read after the first third.

OKAY….Give Rebel a degree in banter. Do they have banter degrees? She should have one. I don’t know where to start because I’m not giving anything away. This is a ride you gotta take on your own.
I can say baby, cuz it’s in the title, duh. But what else is there? Just a little bit of everything. Rebel takes 2 people and grabs them by the throat and BAM! they’re pretty much cemented in each soul’s without even knowing. They’re a pair who I could hate for a minute and then forgive the next. Then I’d love our girl, only to wanna slap her the next page.
This book brings the heat. Like A LOT of heat, but it’s also emotional. Big emotional. So if you’re searching for those, search no further.
The angst is beyond angst. There were characters I wanted to slap. Characters I wanted other characters to slap. But eventually it all boiled down to love and it was so deep.
It’s hot 🥵 and full of drama and a crazy love story. It’s messy, in a really great way.
